Very simple place. The beach here is beautiful, not the best spot for the snorkeling, but perfect for a swim. You can rent a kayak for a paddle out towards the reef. The Fales are awesome as you are really close to the sea. You can almost put your feet in the water while you are sitting in front of your fale. Water is lapping underneath while you sleep. It is a short walk to the local shop, the family is happy for you to keep your drinks cold in their fridge. The family is really nice. The price of the Fale included breakfast and a home cooked dinner with fresh fish. There was always a big bunch of bananas to snack on. Basic clean facilities. It is also close to the lava field.

The best place we've stayed in our travel around the pacific! The beach, people and food were so lovely and we will definitely come back as soon as we can.

Our most favourite fales in Samoa! We had such a great time with Joelan and her family. Absolutely gorgeous beach, lovely fales and great food. We even got a free lunch during the day which was really nice. Thank you guys for such a lovely experience! We'll definitely be back.

Wow this place is a little gem and well worth staying 2 nights or more. The Fale room and all meals are included. Say hi to the owner Falesoa from me Kent! Make sure you also go to the store / cafe 10 min walk for the best cake and relaxing in the shade inside the cafe garden. Scooter hire too :)

We arrived on a very stormy night with relentless rain, but to extremely hospitable and welcoming family. Me and my partners large beach side fale had been pre-wrapped with tarps as a barrier to the weather, which worked fairly well. Presently surprised to find that every fale had a electricity fed light, which when the sun goes down early in the islands, it creates a whole new magical atmosphere. Their main gathering covered platform as well as the shared facilities have their lights on all night which makes it easy to get around, and gives of a sense of security, however grass matted Roman blind type walls don't keep out all the light or noise, so if you are sensitive to light during sleep, you may find it disturbing. The families that work at this group of fales are very proud and studiously work all day to keep it tidy and hazard free. If you are tempted to go to any non-resort beach side fales no matter where on either island. If you can't handle camping then only come to these places as a day trip, they only have basic amenities flushing toilets and very simple cold showers, but that is the price you pay to really disconnect and just be able to chill out next to a beach that is quiet and relaxed, you almost feel like you have it to yourself. In our fale we had woven matt flooring, if they think it might be wet weather they use plastic sheeting under the mattress area (however other areas can get a little bit damp if extreme weather mixed with high tide) mattress squab, a pillow, sheets and a large mosquito net. Communication, booking and organizing to get there had been a little confusing which we found others experienced and gave a sense of unorganized business. But this is just a very simple little fale community run business, and once you get there they bend over backwards to make you feel at home. You can hire kayaks, and is located quite nicely on the island we we able to go on day trips that weren't to long in travelling time. Meals are included and no 2 meals were the same, we got to experience a plethora of samoan dishes, and they were delicious! you may want to take your own pepper as they don't use it or provide it at serving. I highly recommend this place , I was was able to completely unwind from a very busy city life, which was sublime:) will try add some photos later.

We visited in 2012, pre- hurricane. The beds were very bad, even by cheap fale standard. The hostess would come in anytime she wanted and demand that I give her whatever it was I was using or eating at the time. Most of the fale were literally falling into the sea. Every meal was deep fried. We weren't allowed to use the kettle & they were always too busy to boil it for us.. We arranged a lift to the ferry at a particular time, but she suddenly turned up a couple of hours early, & demanded we leave straight away, It turns out she wanted her husband to go earlier, for her own reasons. He was actually very friendly and interesting; we enjoyed talking to him on the way to the ferry. I hope things have improved!

Wonderful, just right! Joelan and team are very welcoming and attentive. We had the entire thing for ourselves for three nights. Infrastructure such as showers and toilets are simple but ok. The setting is really fantastic, the fales are at the ocean, at night we had the water flow under our fale during high tide, just cool. The food was very fresh and well prepared and way too much. It was enough for 4 although it was just the two of us. Fish, sides, vegetables, meat, ... Breakfast varieties and lunch as well as fruits (on request but included). Small shops are nearby to get something to drink other than water or tea. We highly recommend staying with Joelan when on Savaii.

Great spot. Traditional fales are ideally situated on th beach front with ample space in the eating hall. Central to both West and East points for travelers/locals and only 20 minutes from the Ferryboat. Easy to find, friendly hosts and the traditional food is beautiful.
