I visited this park in the late summer 2022. The park is beautiful and serene. There are pavilions, grills, and plenty of picnic tables. There are bridges over the waterways that run through the park such as the San Antonio River. There were a variety of birds in the park and plenty of shade. I didn't walk any of the nature trails or travel the entire perimeter, but I loved the place. The park felt safe and is near other good attractions such as the Japanese Tea Gardens as well as good eats, drinks, and treats.

Take the train ride. Worth it. Beautiful area and educational train conductors. I never knew the park was over 300 acres! I loved going over the San antonio River and through a tunnel. I only want to give 4 stars because they no longer do horse rides and that was a very popular attraction!

We picked up a box of Pizza and took it here for a little picnic. THERE ARE NO PICNIC TABLES. Plenty of shaded areas to criss cross apple sauce, sit and eat, depending on the time of day of course. Walked it off afterwards by exploring the Tea Garden. :) Lovely.

Went for a Saturday morning stroll and this park is adorable. The trails are short, mostly paved and easy. So, an expert hiker might get bored. There are some unmarked trails that you can take for some short "off-roading" and exploring. Most of the maps had the "you are here" dot on the legend, but didn't have the dot on the actual map to indicate where you are. The trails are easy enough to find and figure out, just a slight inconvenience. There are small parking areas throughout the park and trails.

This park is great! Beautiful scenery and huge trees! Nice park to watch wildlife such as cormorants, egrets, ducks, herons and squirrels! Great for families, kids, and walking the dog or the occasional cat. It’s just a shame that the city is trying to displace the herons and egrets and other wildlife by removing their homes, 105 trees just to make the park more urbanized, more structures- less big trees. #savebrackparktrees 🌳🌲🐾

Stunning plants and flowers no matter when you go. Attended a wedding by the waterfall and the event was nicely supervised by staff and kept private during the ceremony. Wonderful place to take pictures and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. It’s very hot and humid during the summer! Good thing is free parking nearby and even in the overflow lot nearby.

Great free activity, beautiful place. Wouldn't want it to be too crowded when I was there so plan thoughtfully.

I was absolutely mesmerized by the sheer beauty of this place! From the stunning scenery to the free parking conveniently located across from the park, everything was designed to enhance visitors' experience. The presence of a Japanese garden added an extra touch of elegance and tranquility. The park was immaculately maintained, reflecting the efforts to ensure cleanliness and a pleasant environment for all. It was heartwarming to see numerous families enjoying quality time together, creating a vibrant and joyful atmosphere. Whether you're seeking solace or a fun outing with loved ones, this place offers an enchanting escape that will leave you with cherished memories.

I have been coming to this park for many yrs and I've always enjoyed coming. It is very big with plenty of shade, picnic tables, and bbq pits. They have a large playground area and you can fish!! There is NO fee to get in :) They also have pavilioms to rent. It is very clean as well. There is also a train you can ride that goes throughout the park. Within walking distance of the park there is Kiddie Park ( a small amusement park), The San Antonio Zoo, and Sunken Gardens (a very beautiful tourist attraction)

I love this park.. All the construction I hate the most. But it's a great place to take the dog out for a run. A good place to hang out with the family.. A great place to go out for a run..

I visited the Japanese Tea Garden and it was a spectacular structural layout of paths, bridges, greenery, a Koa pond, and a beautiful waterfall. Be prepared to climb steep and jagged steps as you make your way around this maze of pathways. If you love the beauty of nature and love scenic places for pictures πŸ“Έ this is the place to visit. Both the parking and the entrance to the garden are free.

The San Antonio Zoo Eagle Train is always an excitement for children and adults. To ride in the β€œchoo choo” train is an adventure, specially when passing through the tunnel. The railroad crew and Mr. Conductor cordially shook hands and answered questions to the children. That interaction was an awesome memory. My kids: JJ (25) and Derick (29) besides they were a little scared inside the tunnel they want to go for a second 20 minutes $5 ride. Next time buddies. Almost 50 years of the β€œchoo choo” tradition and still smoking!!

Huge park right next to the zoo! It has a Starbucks and lots of walking trails and playgrounds. There are picnic tables that are first come first serve. The Japanese tea garden is within walking distance. It's a great way to get exercise and enjoy the outdoors. The little train from the zoo runs through a small section of the park. You can see the train bridge in one of my pictures.

My first visit to San Antonio park and it should be in everyone list of places to see. It has everything. Nature trails, park train and a wonderful zoo. Plenty of parking and never too crowded unless you should come during Easter when everyone plans their Easter around Breckenridge park. It even has a Starbucks if you need a caffeinated pick you up after spending a wonderful day at the park or just keep you going while you take in all this park has to offer. It really is a must see if you are visiting San Antonio. I also met awesome couple Alston &Shea and they were draw each other with chalk to express how they feel about each other with pictures and colors rather than words. So it’s not only a park it’s place to meet a wonderful people.

We have been to San Antonio several times but did not know about the Japanese Tea Garden until I did a Google search on things to do in San Antonio. It was an opportune time for me and my husband to explore different parts of San Antonio that we have never been to since we were traveling without our children. The Japanese Tea Garden was a fantastic surprise! It was gorgeous, lush, well cared for and a complete delight to visit. The walking trails took you through the garden in a winding pattern, bringing you to and through different little "rooms" along the way. The water features and Koi fish were beautiful and created a peaceful environment. We visited on the most hot day of this summer so far but it was surprisingly comfortable with even a little breeze at the top of the hill at the pavilion-like structure. I could not believe that there was no entrance fee. The day was so hot that park staff had water coolers full of ice water available for visitors to have small cups of cold water for free. There is also a small snack bar there that sells drinks and a few snacks.

Love going here, at least for me it is relaxing and a great place to see what nature has to offer, I personally like riding the 2 mile trek around the park on the railroad with park narration, seeing the ducks and other creatures not to mention the goats they use to help clean up the heaver brush. Like always you gotta check it out for your self you can't go wrong.

A BIT DISAPPOINTED after we showed up for the Anniversary of the Great Little Train Robbery only to find out they were charging "$10 ,today (instead of $6), but you get free popcorn..." πŸ€” I also thought there was going to be a reenactment, but instead there was just some guy in cowboy costume in the gift shop pretending to steal stuff inside gift shop. Train ride was great as usual, but I expected more than just hearing the story about the robbery on the train speaker which was difficult to hear. Im sure we'll still be back sometime.

A beautiful, serene place to enjoy the springs, birds and deer. This time we took our Christmas card photo here. Take a walk around the loop to view water lilies, turtles, and a beaver dwelling. Easy access for all, including ADA.

Love this park filled with ducks and nice scenery. It is next door to the San Antonio Zoo. (Not entrance side) I enjoy coming here but I was pregnant the last time I came and my son is now 2.5yrs. I wish the park would open for the kiddos. Any idea when its going to reopen?

The playground is under construction. There are also people living in the trails!! Literally, we went off the trails, and they have this whole little setup there. I feel like I intruded in their area, aka home! πŸ˜’πŸ€£ LET'S HOPE IT GETS TAKEN CARE OF ASAP. 🚧 πŸ™„

Overall very pretty locale. Be prepared to walk up and down large steps. Partially handicap accessible. Not very large and can be viewed in full in less than an hour. And that's with taking your time.

Huge, wonderful park with lots to do! I especially loved just walking along the river and watching the turtles and ducks. My one complaint is the loud, blaring train that runs along the zoo and the loud music they blast near the Kiddie Park. But it's not hard to get away from the noise and get back to nature if you want to. It is a big park. I also loved that Animal Defense League has a shelter near the zoo entrance you can visit.

Went to sketch here with the San Antonio Urban Sketchers group. Gorgeous, cooler morning at this old park here in my birthplace. I've loved this park since I was a child, with it's little train, the Japanese Garden, all the trees and so many beautiful settings for a picnic, photo shoot, barbeque, sketching, birds, or just a place to sit and read. We sketches saw a beautiful white egret! Easily accessible from any direction, plenty of parking, and don't forget the SA Zoo!

Great open place with duck pond, baseball field, and picnic tables with BBQ pits. Love going on Sundays to see car clubs come out and show off. It's a great place to bring family and friends and relax.

After visiting the main attractions in San Antonio, if you got time , definitely recommend this one to checkout. Good spot for picnic, hiking. They have a toy train ride that cost 6$ per adult and you can hop off and on at the Chinese tea garden.

Great park, next to the zoo and multiple museums like the witti museum. It has nicely dense forest and a river that goes through it. The reason for 4 stars was due to the walk-ways are not even, making it painful for walking especially with someone who has foot conditions or wrong shoes.

The garden is really pretty and a bit bigger from the one in Houston. Cute scenery for taking pictures at the right angles, of course. If going during summertime, wear light clothes and take water. They also have a shop for souvenirs. And can also buy food and refreshments there as well.

Beautiful place to visit. Wheelchair accessible for some parts but not all. The ramp is somewhat steep for a wheelchair. There's really no way to avoid that. Make sure you take the trail behind the park, then turn left on the road that leads to an overlook. It's beautiful! We were the only ones who took it the day we were there, and it was a busy day. There's no charge to get in. It's a local treasure and worth the effort to go.

This place was recommended by a local. It is an absolutely beautiful park. Did about a 4 mile run in the evening. Light traffic of people, but it is summer, and it was still 100 degrees at 8pm. People were fishing, exercising, and just sitting around. I would love to come back. Close to the zoo, witte museum and golf course.

I always love coming to this place. Be prepared to walk up and down steps. They do have a handicap ramp to get to the top and one trail. But to see the waterfall up close and get the full experience, you will need to walk up and down stairs. But IT'S WORTH IT! This place is free to visit. Please do not leave trash and leave everything alone. Great place to catch Pokemon πŸ˜‹

I have visited Breckenridge Park several times over the past 30+ years. I have family that lives in the area. I'm from Michigan. I have been to the zoo which is always amazing. The Tea gardens are beautiful. My family celebrates Easter Sunday like many other's in San Antonio. Such a great place to gather and enjoy the day. The kids really enjoyed riding the train.

With the little we saw, it was beautiful. We actually came in New Years Eve, so it was quite packed, and it was after the frost, so apparently much of the garden was lost, but you would never know it if you went. It's structured so artistically and beautifully that you really can find relaxation, calm, and peace in it. Definitely recommend on a stroll with your loved one, family, and alone.

Walked this park with my best friend after we had dinner at Good Time Charlie's. Our walk was about an hour to and from - the scenery was beautiful. I loved the memorial that was displayed for Uvalde, prayers to everyone. We had a great walk. The weather was beautiful.

This is an excellent park to visit. It has trails but beware, there are very inclined small steps to get to the pond area that might be difficult to access for some people. However, if you fall into this category, rest assured that you can gather all the beauty of this park from the elevated plaza on top!

So many beautiful spots to enjoy. We specifically went to check out the Cypress Pavillion . My daughter rented it for a party in September and the pavillion and all the surrounding area was just beautiful. My family had been enjoying this park for many many years.

This is a really nice park for picnics, cookouts or a nice nature walk and it's right in the middle of San Antonio. It's well maintained, with the exception of areas off the path, which seem to be quite riddled with trash but unless you wander you'd never notice.
