You HAVE TO walk on the River Walk if you are in San Antonio Texas! It's the most amazing thing to do and it's FREE. It's fantastic for grabbing a bite to eat at the many amazing restaurants, shopping, taking a beer with you or even going on a run! It's almost all shaded and you can frequently see ducks swimming, dodging all the tour boats. It's also a great place to enjoy a mimosa for breakfast with a view!

Must-see San Antonio attraction: walkway next to the man-made โ€˜riverโ€™ (water retention area) in downtown The picturesque River Walk is lined with restaurants, souvenir shops, hotels, and bars. Different vibes between day and night - highly recommend checking out. The riverwalk does get busy - especially in the evening and during holidays.

Super duper cool area! Very busy, lots of people, lots to look at, amazing restaurants, shops, drinks, so much to do! There are boats that go up and down the river that have a tour guide, most definitely doing that my next trip!! At night all the trees are lit up and just lights up the whole area. Ate at a fun restaurant with a mariachi band. Music and people are all around you. I only explored a sliver of what is there, so another trip is 100% necessary!!

Very uniquely San Antonio! You will love the vibe and enjoy this historic place. Get ready to have some steps in. The walk is wonderful and scenic. The river boat ride with tour guide is worth a try. We did not since we had small kids and stroller with us. Eating a restaurant along the River walk is unforgettable experience. Pets are welcome to be you at the front tables, but not inside the restaurant. The Alamo is just there. Must must walk the river if you visit San Antonio. No playground around. Lot of concrete so kids be ready to see some history, not monkey bars :-)

This place is amazing. the river crossing the city center gives it a unique character. The place is overcrowded but extends onto quieter streets. River Walk is animated, lively and relaxing at the same time. The surrounding streets are beautifully lit at night.

We got to see so much history and natural beauty. It was nice to stroll the river walk and see the bridges and restaurants that line the scenery. There were many Hotels that were along the river with great views. The shops around the village were nice to escape the heat. There were a lot of people in the heart of the Riverwalk but it was really cool to see the popular photos I've seen over the years. I am sure at night it would have been much cooler and beautiful with all the lights and night vibe.

Exploring the River Walk in San Antonio was an absolute delight! The charming atmosphere, with lush greenery lining the serene waterway, made for a picturesque stroll. The array of dining options along the river offered something for every palate, from local Tex-Mex flavors to international cuisines. Whether enjoying a leisurely boat ride or simply soaking in the vibrant energy of the bustling promenade, the River Walk is a must-visit destination for anyone visiting San Antonio. A truly memorable experience that captures the heart and soul of this beautiful city!

Absolutely beautiful!! It was so much more beautiful than I imagined. I could walk circles around it! Tons of amazing restaurants, shops, places to sit and have a drink, listen to music or just take a walk. The perfect โ€œfirst dateโ€ place to go. Itโ€™s romantic and wonderful. Loved it!!!!! ๐Ÿ˜ Being there at Christmas was just a bonus and it was beautifully decorated.. it totally felt magical.

The San Antonio River Walk is a very neat area. All ages can appreciate this area. Itโ€™s beautiful day or night. You should visit during both times and see if you have a preference. We like the day, but we often find ourselves doing other things that are closed in the evening, and visiting the River walk at night, but itโ€™s a great spot any time of day. The walkways are right at rivers edge on both sides. Ducks frequent the water. The water level is just beneath sidewalk level and many areas do not have railings and you can be right next to it. However most places you sit and eat will have railings and such. There are a lot of places to eat, or get treats. Thereโ€™s often live music at a place or 2, and even a drug store for your misc needs. Itโ€™s beautiful, classy, a great place for your family, or just you and your significant other. I highly recommend stopping down here if you are passing through. If you plan to, check to see when the next parade of lanterns is. Very cool lit up boats coming down the River.

We loved it even though it was cold when we went. We went on the small riverboat ride and were very glad we did because we could never have seen as much of it walking in such a short time period. Our captain on the boat was awesome! Very entertaining and knowledgeable.

You have to visit the River Walk if you go to San Antonio. It can be very busy but as you can see from my pictures itโ€™s so beautiful at night. You can get a boat ride, there are bars and restaurants, live music, shops and stands in different places. Something for everyone. The North side starts to get less busy and more park like with awesome walking and running paths for the daytime.

If you want to experience an absolutely beautiful scene in San Antonio then the River Walk is where you should be heading. I walked almost 6 miles that day and it was so beautiful the entire walk. There is so much to do and see in regards to local vendors, little shops, and so many restaurants to choose from for a bite to eat. The architecture is stunning and if you get tired you can take one of the visitor boats along the river for a little excursion. I highly recommend visiting when youโ€™re in San Antonio.

It's a really nice place. Strolling in the morning when it's not very busy is a beautiful experience. There are lots of places to eat from. The street vendors make the place lively. It's clean and well maintained. As a trainee at Fort Sam back in 2013 I used to come here. This reminds me of my time back then. It's nice to see people walking, shopping, eating, and doing many other things.

San Antonio River Walk was a nice experience for first timers. This place would be great for family sightseeing, taking a nice Sunday stroll to get some exercise, or an nice Romantic date day for dinner. There is a lot to see and also participate in from cultural experiences to eateries or just peaceful scenery to explore. I would suggest the boat ride inside of the river walk to get your feet wet to get a sense of the overall area and it's surrounding attractions. I would definitely recommend the San Antonio River walk.

We were there on the new year evening and it was a great experience. My kids loved the lighting and the place was so happening that every minute was exciting. They had free DJ (theyโ€™ve been doing it every year for more than 20 years it seems) at the towers of America so it was perfect place to be on a new year evening. We also did the boat ride and the kids loved it so much. Me too. They have a lot of food and drinks options, loved it.

The San Antonio River Walk is the heart of the city. As the #1 attraction in Texas, the River Walk is full of dining, beautiful architectural buildings, even there is 300 years old tree !!! Absolutely loved this area. Walked all the way from Southtown up to the Japanese gardens and it was such a pleasant walk. The touristy section was busy and lively with lots of bars packed along but the contrast with the quieter sections was lovely too. Something for everyone!

The San Antonio River Walk is a renowned destination for visitors in Houston, and it truly exceeded our expectations! The ambiance along the river was enchanting, with picturesque bridges, lush greenery, and charming water taxis gracefully gliding by. We began our adventure with a leisurely walk along the cobblestone pathways, savoring the lively atmosphere created by a delightful mix of shops, cafes, and restaurants lining the route. To fully immerse ourselves in the River Walk's spirit, we decided to take a guided riverboat tour. Our knowledgeable guide shared captivating stories about San Antonio's history and landmarks, making the experience both educational and entertaining. After the River Walk, we continued exploring the beautifully illuminated riverbanks, which added a romantic ambiance to the surroundings. The enchanting atmosphere inspired us to capture numerous photos, preserving the joyful memories of our evening together. Additionally, we got a caricature drawing, making it an extra special and memorable keepsake. In conclusion, the San Antonio River Walk is an absolute must-visit for anyone seeking a delightful and unforgettable outing with friends. Whether you're after a relaxing stroll, cultural experiences, or delectable cuisine, this iconic attraction offers it all. With hearts filled with cherished memories, my friends and I are already eager to plan our next visit!

This is probably THE PLACE to visit when coming to San Antonio. Especially in the evening time. Very lush and beautiful. Great for taking a stroll with friends. And the food options are endless! If you have time definitely try the riverboats. You can see a lot of things much quicker than walking around.

Great place for family picnic. We took the boat ride and the boat driver was super nice, she gave so much info about the buildings, tourists and history. Very nice restaurants around. Parking is an issue though, either someone has to sit in the car or drive around to find a spot. We parked ours in the motel and walked for about 20 minutes, all worth it!!!

This a great place for family, friends or a date. There is a lot to see and eat! I recommend taking the boat ride, as it will give you an easy tour of the place. We had entertainment on our boat ride. A poor soul decided to jump in the river to cool off before being fished out by the police. Everyone is very nice and friendly here. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

The River Walk is definitely the best river walks that I have ever been to. Itโ€™s a very leafy walk with many special restaurants along the way. The decoration, design and ambience are just impeccable! Parking can be challenging in the nearby area - we saw some public parking places even charged $40+ for 4 hours parkingโ€ฆ Eventually we found a $10 flat fee parking nearby. I would recommend visitors to pick a good restaurant (e.g., Domingo) to have some food and then walk around!

Awesome spot for visitors like me. I was traveling to Fort Stockton from Houston when this opportunity came along. I had to stop at San Antonio to experience this 15-mile long river walk. I could not cover the whole length of this amazing tourist attraction but the downtown section. Foods, shops, attractions- everything can be found here. I just loved walking there. Covid did dampen the vibrant atmosphere a little so I would love to go back again to enjoy the spot again.

Finally had the chance to take my wife there to see the river walk. From the canal boat ride to the beautiful falls, flowers and sculptures abound, a memorable experience. We were there during the day but if you can, try to go there in the evening as it is lit up and enhances the beauty. Not as many shops as they used to be but plenty of eateries. We ate at Waxy O'Connors. I had a steak sandwich style meal that was very tasty and enjoyable and priced reasonably.

The San Antonio River Walk is the best way to relax while getting a little heart health.. There are several restaurants along the river as well as places to sit and vibe out. Granted there are a number of spots to stop and grab a great picture. It's an extremely picturesque area. One can also pay a little extra to take a boat ride on the river. Overall, if you're visiting San Antonio, the river walk needs to be on your list.

Nice experience.. I visited here 2 times, one during public holiday last year and one during weekend recently. Both times I enjoyed the river cruises. The cost is worth. The guide of cruise is very good, he explained things very well with good jokes. The ambience around is very nice, the hotels and lights look good. The maintenance of river should be increased. Only thing I feel, winter is good for visit as in the summer it is bit suffocating down under. But everyone should give it a try.

Beautiful site, the tour guide pointed out all the fab places to go to and see, he was fun and friendly, shared historical sites and had great knowledge. The boat tour was $31 per person, lasted almost an hour and there were a lot of people on the boat. Next time I'll just walk the river, lots of yummy places to try.

A beautiful area to walk and shop at. The best part? The river! You can pay to take a boat ride with a guide. I believe it was about $13 per person. I never went but my family did and said it was fun to do once but nothing too special about it. I also loved all the shops and mall nearby. Thereโ€™s also a lot of restaurants and areas where you can sit. The worst part? Parking was a hassle. We couldnโ€™t find any street parking but we found a parking ramp a couple blocks away for $10 which seemed like a great price! I docked a star also because there werenโ€™t many shops in the outside area, it felt a little bare but we enjoyed going inside to shop some more.

I canโ€™t say enough about San Antonio River Walkโ€ฆ. If you like food, this is a definite. Casual walksโ€ฆ perfect! The River Walk can get extremely crowded, so my recommendation is to walk it early morning. Best time to take it all in and plan your place to eat. Perfect time for photos also. Itโ€™s clean and have never been approached for handouts or selling. Absolutely love SA for keeping all this under control. Enjoy your walkโ€ฆ.

We crossed one off our bucket list & visited San Antonio's River Walk. By taking stairs from the street level to the small river channel running through town below, you can ride boats along restaurant-lined walkways, & a few shops (most shopping was up the stairs on the street level). The river rolls by monuments, walking bridges (some with stories to tell), beautiful greenery, flowers & even an outdoor stage for performing arts. The open pontoon boats seat ~20 with a guide to navigate you down the river telling historic tales of San Antonio. Fun experience. Buy all day tickets in advance or buy on & off rides at the dock sites along the river which we did. They offer a narrated ride (the one we chose), or simple shuttle to several stops along on the river. Street parking (or in hotel lot with a "tip" for the valet like we did) is a bit pricey, (~$20), but worth it to spend a day relaxing knowing your car's safe. If you're in San Antonio this is a not to be missed adventure.

Great place for a walk in the city center and near the river. Many different restaurants, shops, coffee shops. You can also take an inexpensive boat ride around this place. A very pleasant place for a walk with family or friends. And this is a historical place with interesting focus points. I highly recommend this place for a walk at least once in your life!

It was a very nice place to walk down and enjoy the sights. It was semi crowded at times but the flow of traffic moved along so it wasn't to bad. There were many restaurants, bars and gift shops to choose from. There were beautiful trees and flower gardens along much of the walk. Some places had some waterfall or water fountain features. The tour guides were passing by on the water and you could hear some of the information about the area. I had a great time.

A beautiful Feb day to experience the RiverWalk! Everything is marked extremely well so you always know where you are. There is so much to see and do and the walk goes on for miles. I would recommend spending the whole day so you can experience everything. Parking around the walk is anywhere from $5-20 so look for the signs. Enjoy!

A mesmerizing boat ride on the river that passes through the city. The colorful lights are just very beautiful as we passed through the city on the boat. Must visit during December as it's specially decorated as such for Christmas and New Year.

Really like San Antonio's Riverwalk. Lots of places to eat and historic sites to see. Signs along the walk explain points of interest. Recommend taking the riverboat tour. It's fun and informative. I'd like to see the city clean up the water, though; it's a bit green.

The San Antonio Riverwalk was more than what the billing lived up to. There are so many cool sites and nice restaurants. There were any pieces of art and Texas themed decor. We ate at many of those great restaurants and had drinks at several of the fine adult beverage establishments. Also visited the Grotto, which was cool in itself! A mist visit place if going to San Antonio, Texas!!

Oh, what to say that hasn't already been said. Beautiful place, I can see why this is the focal point of the city. We went on a Wed just to hang out, eat good food, and have a few drinks. Loved it... we'll be going back for sure. Note: if you have a chance, take the River Boat tour. Really nice and informative.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at the Riverwalk. The serene atmosphere along the river makes it a delightful place for a leisurely walk. The highlight for us was the nighttime river boat cruise, an absolutely awesome experience. The restaurants lining the river added to the liveliness, and the twinkling lights enhanced the river's charm. The nighttime view was so enchanting that we decided to return during the day for another stroll. The contrast between day and night is striking, offering a diverse and captivating experience. The overall ambiance, coupled with the scenic beauty, made the visit truly worthwhile. I highly recommend a visit to the Riverwalk. Whether you're taking a relaxing walk, enjoying a river cruise, or savoring a meal with a view, this place has it all. The combination of natural beauty and vibrant surroundings creates a memorable and enjoyable outing. Can't wait to visit again!

Lots of great food..liquor and fun. Almost every you could want. The riverboat is nice cost about $15.00 per person. All the food was good. Crowds are thicker on the weekends. Parking is ridiculously expensive. There's lots to do if you're looking to spend some time and money walking.

This locale boasts a diverse array of restaurants and shops, with a distinct ambiance that shifts noticeably from day to night. Enjoy an abundance of enticing food and beverage choices, and consider taking a boat tour. Keep in mind that the area can get quite crowded, especially in the evening, and exercise caution as the Riverwalk lacks railings in most parts, and the walkway may become wet and slippery.
