What an incredible national park!! The only way in is by longboat and the jungle inside is like something out of the lost world! Giant vines, thick vegetation, hundreds of butterflies and unique insects! We ate piranha at dinner one night! Crazy! 😊👍

An absolute treasure of a place. I spent a week in the western part of Madidi park with an Ecolodge, 6 hours by canoe up the Tuichi river in search of dorados and pacu. The wildlife flourished here much more than other parts of the Bolivian jungle that I have experienced. You could hear the jaguars calling during the night, and the river banks were full of fresh tracks each day. The red howler monkeys holler each evening and morning, voices carrying through the jungle with an eerie echo. Butterflies teemed the rocks in the sun, with shades of green, yellow, blues and reds that I've not seen elsewhere. The wilderness here is like none other that I have experienced to date. A transport back in time that I urge you to visit for yourself.

What an amazing experience back in 2014! We stayed at the parque at Chalalan Ecolodge run by locals who grew up in the park, the lodge is ecofriendly. We had our own personal tour guide, Nelson. What can I say about Nelson - very knowledgable and friendly. In fact, the entire staff at the lodge were very friendly. Madidi is one of the most biodiverse places on earth. During our jungle walk we got to see amazing wildlife (monkeys, snakes, frogs, birds, wild pigs, etc.) and a diversity of flora. A must experience to see the Amazon jungle during our hikes, while supporting the local economy. The accomodation was amazing, and the food delicious.

(Translated by Google) Madidi National Park is the ideal place for lovers of nature, jungle and wildlife. For many scientists, Madidi National Park is the most biodiverse nature reserve in the world. The surface of Madidi Park is 1,895,740 hectares. The national park preserves one of the most important jungle regions in the world where 1,865 species of plants and 867 species of birds, 156 species of mammals, 84 species of amphibians, 71 species of reptiles and 192 species of fish live. Many scientists agree that within the park there are many species that have not yet been discovered. Location Madidi National Park is located in the provinces Abel Iturralde and Franz Tamayo, northwest of the Department of La Paz. Excursion to Madidi Park How to get to Madidi Park The easiest way to access the Madidi National Park is from the city of Rurrenabaque. From this city you can navigate the Beni River and the Tuíchi River. Important: The park cannot be reached by public transport, so it is necessary to hire an excursion. Within the park there are some accommodations and ecolodges that provide day trips or stays of several days. Options to reach nearby towns The two economic options to reach the limits of Madidi National Park from Rurrenabaque are: The town of San Buenaventura (on the other side of the river) from where you reach the Strait of Bala, a place of the river with very beautiful landscapes. The other town is Tumupasa (50 km.) Which can be reached by public transport from Rurrenabaque. In this population live families of different native ethnic groups that preserve their traditions and customs. Madidi Tours Park In the town there are no hotels but you can get accommodation in family homes. Sometimes with the locals you can take a walk to the edge of the park. Excursions in the Madidi National Park The different travel agencies and ecolodge offer different options in excursions and tours. Full day excursion Round-trip tour in the day from Rurrenabaque, including river navigation entering the Madidi, lunch and hike. The advantages of this excursion are lower price than sleeping in the park, ideal for those who do not have much time. The cons are that much of the time of the excursion is used to arrive and return from the park, so the weather sometimes seems not to be enough. Excursions of one or more nights Some excursions offer the possibility of spending the night in an ecolodge or accommodation within the park. These excursions include accommodation with meals. When sleeping inside the park it is possible to make more walks and reach the river to farther places (although it is not always a guarantee to see more animals). Night activities are also organized to observe the fauna that has its activity at night. Recommendations to visit Madidi National Park - Bring repellent. - Wear a rain coat or poncho. - Avoid swimming in the rivers, there are dangerous currents. - Caution with animals, some can attack if you feel cornered. - Do not go into the jungle alone. - Bring drinking water. - Llevar agua potable. Alojamientos y Ecolodges en el Madidi - Chalalán Ecolodge - Albergue San Miguel del Bala - Madidi Jungle Ecolodge - Sadiri Lodge

One needs to be careful here as this place looks very picturesque, but it’s dangerous. Because it’s home to the most poisonous and aggressive plants. Contact with any of them growing in this park can cause severe itching, rash and dizziness. Any cut, or even a small wound, can become infected with tropical parasites.

Madidi and Apolobamba make together the biggest and most diverse "protected" land in Bolivia. From the high mountain glaciers( up to 6100 m) to the Amazonian rain forest. Climate change has hit badly the high mountains and glacier recession is the worst compared with other Bolivian mountain ranges. The cloud forest just a few kilometres from the snowy peaks, is one of the most untouched and pristine lands in the country and host dozens, if not hundreds, of undiscovered species. Every year scientists find new plants, insects and animals.

Amazingly beautiful. Most tours aren't allowed to go there because they abuse the wildlife.as far as I'm aware, only three are the original ones and have ecocamps there. Totally worth the money! We went with mashaquipe, and had the best time.

Beautiful sights and wildlife. But you have to make sure you take a good company to go with. Most tour companies have their lodges close to each other (which is not good for wildlife). The deeper you go, the better experience you will have. Also be careful choosing "eco-friendly" companion. As long as I know, they have created their own "Eco certification" but no body is on charge of testing the companies at least yearly. No tours that charge you less than 1200 bs., for 3 days 2 nights will provide good service. Some might even take you to different locations.

(Translated by Google) Incredible place! I have visited other places in the world with tropical vegetation and jungle, but like here nowhere. You will see very many animals up close. You will admire the sunrise and sunset. You will hear the sound of the jungle. The walks I do with them on the river are great. You will really calm down. We stayed in a wonderful lodge that had all the basic amenities. The people there are friendly. The food is excellent.
