2015: Not sure what has happened to this place, everyone in here (Sunday 27 Nov) is complaining about the food. After getting ours I can kind of see why. The two kids lunches from the Kids Menu were tiny, 2 minuscule chicken goujons, a few chips and peas. Our roast sharing platter was decent but veg was undercooked and stone cold.. will not be coming again. 2022: Went back after hearing about the refurb. 4 for late afternoon lunch in the new garden. Waitress was great and food arrived quickly and was really nice! However the drinks took forever! Had to cancel the second order as it took so long. It wasn’t even busy so no idea what was going on in the bar. Took the shine off a nice afternoon and venue. Still 3 stars! Aug 2022: Went with friends (our recommendation) as assumed the issues previously were teething problems after the re-opening. Obviously not! Waited 35 minutes to get a drink! Ordered another round shortly after which never came, complained and waited just shrugged and said “well do you want a drink then or not?” Again the food is decent, the venue is amazing but the service is so shocking it’s an embarrassment. So if you are going; go to the bar and order your drinks yourself!!! Now knocked down to 2 stars

Enjoyed lunch here. The ambience of extended courtyard is amazing. Staff served us well. The pub food is good. Worth a visit. Very clean kept too.

A large and very popular gastro pub. Some rowdy groups in the pub were close to out of control but the al fresco dining area was very pleasant. The young staff were delightful. A good experience but the yob culture should be monitored.

Brilliant restaurant, Josh our waiter was friendly, fast and attentive. Came down from London for the day and was pleasantly surprised that all our three courses came out so delicious. The chicken liver pate was just devine, absolutely recommend coming here when visiting Henley. Beautiful interior also

Came here for a coffee break. Absolute stunning venue, both inside and out. Staff were on top of things quickly and coffee was decent. The outdoor area would be superb in the summer. Definitely coming here again for food and in the summer

We had to cancel our Christmas Lunch booking with our elderly mothers as they contracted COVID. We were reminded that the deposit was non-refundable but it was suggested that I contact the general manager to see if anything could be done, such as allowing us to carry a portion forward towards another meal. I have heard absolutely nothing in response, not even an acknowledgment or standard response. Unlikely to go back there.

We were celebrating my mums 60th and there were 12 of us plus 2 dogs, we pre ordered the food. The food was amazing so tasty I had a chorizo scotch egg the loveliest I have ever tasted, and the roast sirloin beef which was cooked perfectly, the staff were amazing, we all really enjoyed the whole experience. The only negative was speaking to the reservation staff one of whom was quite rude and belittling when I rang to say we had an issue with the pre order link. But overall amazing

This recently renovated bar and restaurant is now a first class establishment. The decor is outstanding and the upgraded menu is impressive too. Whether you are in the mood for a quiet drink or a nice dinner this is a great place to come. Personally I'm a fan of their virgin mojito.

We had a fab parents Pizza & Prosecco Christmas party at The Bull. Staff were amazing! The conservatory was beautifully decorated, the prosecco perfectly chilled & the pizza yummy. Awesome venue for groups.

Had high expectations for Sunday lunch at The Bull having reserved a table for seven online, but the whole experience from start to finish was absolutely atrocious. The table had only been laid for six people when we arrived - an ominous sign of how shoddy the service would be. It took 20 minutes for our drinks order to come and we ended up waiting an HOUR for our food. We twice asked where it was, and one member of staff said we should have expected an hour delay, which we weren't told about at the time of ordering. We tentatively ordered a few more drinks but again they took ages to come. When seven Sunday roasts finally emerged they were cold, the Yorkshire puddings (could you even call them that?!) were eggy, flat and looked more like undercooked pancakes. The meat (beef and lamb in this case) was chewy and tough and the roast potatoes rock hard. It beggars belief how they could charge £19 for a roast dinner of such poor quality. We ended up not paying for the food at all because it was that terrible. Despite our obvious disappointment there was no offer of a discount on the drinks bill from the manager. While waiters were apologetic and not to blame, it was clear the place was severely understaffed. Definitely won't be going here again.

Spent Christmas Day at this wonderful location with 11 family and friends. Beautifully decorated with fantastic service by the lovely Stef and other colleagues. Food was fabulous. Will definitely return again.

The food was lovely and good value. It was just a shame about the service; 10 mins to get menus but missing drinks menu, asked for drinks menu for waitress return without a few minutes later, ordered food but she was about to put the wrong order food through the system and ordered it to the wrong table number. Also whilst ordering got very very close to us and felt a bit strange after 2 years of COVID to not respect peoples personal space.

My wife and I popped in for lunch. Absolutely incredible place - the menu is one of the best I’ve seen for a lunchtime! The Italian meringue might be one of the best desserts I’ve ever had! Service was brilliant (Emma was great!) - really attentive, but not too intrusive. Great setting too. Would recommend to anyone. We’ll be back!

Had such a great evening at the Bull on Bell Street for an early Valentine's Day dinner. From the doorman escorting us to his colleague to show us to our table, to the delicious food (we had the squid, nachos, venison pie, king prawn linguine). The staff were rushed off their feet as it was a Saturday but still managed to deliver great service and were always smily. Can't wait to return!

Really nice place , very tasty food . I had the light bite steak and chips and the wife had chicken milanese both were excellent

Staff are as bland as dry toast no atmosphere or smiles. Manager was OK sat me at a dirty table which was sticky, ordered two starters and a pint cost £27 pounds when the squid came out it was near enough thrown on the table with no emotion or words to mention this is my meal. The Squid looked as if it was £5 pounds worth and brown in colour the batter or oil looked as if it was from last week! EXPENSIVE place never again will I visit such a dive!! Better cheaper and friendlier places in Henley-on-Thames

We had booked for lunch. The menu looked good, although not cheap but it is Henley. All went well until we waited almost an hour for our food to arrive, quite cold and with items missing. I'm guessing they have staff problems. The waiter was appropriately apologetic when we complained, but no management concern show. I would avoid for the time being unless you don't mind taking a chance.

Beautiful old pub with fantastic outside area. Open or closed facilities for all times of the year. Food was really good and good value. Food was so good I forgot to take pictures!! Staff we’re all really attentive and delivered a great experience. Highly recommended.

Absolutely fabulous service from Josh! Really enjoyed our evening for my mums birthday. And there was live music on too which were amazing! We have a party booked in august & we are very excited 👏🏻

Good food, served incredibly in a superb setting. The prices are very reasonable. I have to say what made this restaurant was the quality of service, the staff deserve huge credit. The food is of reasonable to high standard. Clearly care is put into the preparation, and the portion sizes are super. Would certainly recommend a visit here.

Great pub, very rustic look and lovely selection of roasts (both meat and vegetarian). Dessert was very tasty (though I wouldn't say the crumble portion was to be shared). Staff were nice and service was quick. The only two issues were parking (staff parking was empty, but it can't be used by clients) and the app- really not convenient having to download an app to order food. Otherwise it was a great Sunday meal.

Lovely pub, beautifully presented, a real wow when you enter... Everything nice and luxurious, clean, upmarket etc... The drinks are normal price, and the menu is really good pub fare and not too expensive. Arrived piping hot and delicious.

Fab night! Food was epic, can highly recommend the wagyu burger. Staff were great, chatty and interested in providing the best service! Shout out to Josh and Anna who made our night! And the Whispering Angel wine was smashing too! Thanks everyone

My friend and I decided to do the Henley ale trail. This was our 1st stop. I have to say, we were very well received and looked after. So much so, I didn't want to leave. We were served by Jen, who gave us the best example of British pub hospitality. You guys will love this place. The beer was great and the food looked amazing.

Great atmosphere and stylish decor. Food pretty good albeit run out of mint sauce for lamb roast and served apple sauce for one our party eating beef. Roast Potatoes bit hard but all in all good roast. Will return in the hope of mint sauce available. Happy with visit.

This is a lovely place. It’s big with plenty of tables. There is a good selection of drinks. What let it down was the menu. I had a fish pie which contained little fish, was over cooked and was mostly mashed potato with little sauce. Quite poor value for money too. My partner had a cod dish which looked much nicer. I was too hungry to send the pie back and once the food was delivered mo wait staff appeared in any case. The rest of the menu was interested by but perhaps a little dated. All in all great for drinks and great for a pub meal but you could of course actually go to a pub for that.

What a wonderful pub! Definitely the best spot for eating and drinking in Henley. It’s beautifully (and newly) redone inside and outside, the food is absolutely superb, and the service is extremely friendly and quick! What more could you want? Dog friendly too :-) Special thanks go to to my waitress Isobel, and the manager Akeem who were both very kind, very smiley, and very helpful. All round great experience, I will definitely be back!

Fantastic find. Lovely old pub, popped in early Friday evening and so pleased they could seat us. We sat in the courtyard which was modern and recently extended/ revamped. The interior of the pub also looked, clean, smart and modern. The menu was refreshing to see and we had sharing board for two which was delicious but huge! Our main was also great and good value. Great atmosphere and great service, a very pleasant evening

Lovely food, especially the desserts. It did take a while between courses but it is a very large restaurant.

Love this place, always has space. Wish they, along with every other pub did other vegetarian options other than pizza and a burger!! 40% of the population are now all or partially vegetarian, it should be reflected on menus. Can't wait to have the garden sorted!

Update: Unsure what's happened, but revisiting in July '22 is a different experience. Food and drinks are still delicious but service is incredibly slow. 40 minute wait on a drinks order. Good experience overall. Ordering was smooth and efficient using the app, food and drink waiting times were generally snappy. Staff friendly and polite. Atmosphere was great. Had the double rib burger which was delicious. Great quality meat and cooked perfectly - Pink in the centre and not charred to oblivion. Prices on the steep side at ~£5 a pint and ~£10 for a cocktail. It is a Brakspear afterall.

We went here with a party of around 30. The private room caters for 25 so we had the conservatory area instead. However given the hot weather we requested another area and were relocated. The meals were all roasts for our party and were very good. The beef was a little stringy in parts but nicely cooked, I would go back again.

Gorgeous interiors and the garden is beautiful. Menu was a little uninspiring, but the food we had (pizza) was nice enough. Not the cheapest, but it's Henley so to be expected. Lovely for a Sunday afternoon chill

We went for supper with our family at 7pm. The refurb is beautiful and we sat outside which was lovely. I would have given 5 stars but despite our waitress being lovely the service was awful. Not her fault at all, it seemed that there were not enough staff at all so they could not help everything being so late. This poor waitress had been working since 8:30 am! Maybe management could sort that out and then it would 5 stars!
