Eight of us spent a nice afternoon and have a good meal. This was mine and my husbands first time at the restaurant. We are only in the UK for about a year. I had the salmon and my husband had the ribs. Both were very good. My only issue was there request for us to leave when we were still buying drinks and there was hardly anyone else in the restaurant. We were not being disruptive. They said they needed the table but it seems that if you have paying customers you would work to accommodate them. My husband had not seen a few of his friends in over 30 years.

A classic - wanted to visit for a long time since hearing about it on LBC from one of the presenters. White table cloths, classic American fayre in the middle of theatre land. Well worth a visit and will return. The team were really nice and although we were one of the last seatings of the day, there was no rush and the food was really good. Worth visiting...

Excellent. Booked a table for 2 and confirmed my reservation. The decoration is sublime, and the staff top notch. Our food was delicious! (meatballs and the salmon). The spinach was also very, very good. Highly recommended!

Mediocre bland food & overpriced. The only thing I really enjoyed was the Chips and the cookie dough dessert, ribs were okay, the beans that it came with, overcooked and no seasoning, same with the Mac and cheese, followed by the fish. Poor quality food. Staff were polite and attentive, it also has nice decor/atmosphere.

A MUST HAVE when in London! Honestly the BEST meal out we’ve had in a long time! - Situated round the back of Covent Garden, this little hidden away restaurant boasts a fabulous menu and attentive staff! This restaurant really is value for money; especially the side dishes they always come in such generous portion sizes!

Wow! Fabulous food, cocktails and service ar Joe Allen. This was my first visit but definitely won't be my last.the ribs were to die for. The cocktails went down a treat and the baked cheesecake was divine. Atmosphere matched the food. Thank you.

I am lucky enough to have been to Joe Allen’s several times over the last year and it has quickly become a family favourite. The atmosphere is extremely welcoming, the staff are friendly, well trained and polite. The service is smooth and efficient and the cocktail menu is fabulous! I have chosen different items from the food menu each time and I would struggle to choose a favourite as the dishes are both creative and delicious! Whether it be a family lunch or enjoying the live music in the bar during the week, I would recommend Joe Allen’s as a must visit for anyone! My most recent visit on Saturday, 10th December was memorable as I unexpectedly suffered a prolapsed disc during lunch. The staff were so attentive and looked after me so well - there was nothing I could have asked for that would have been too much for them at that moment. They immediately took charge of the situation and provided me with hot and cold compresses. A charming mix of gentle humour and utter professionalism put me greatly at ease and earned them a customer for life. I can’t thank them enough for helping me that day!

Had an amazing meal here - definitely go for the chicken Milanese! The interior design of the place is very cool and the service was very quick and helpful. Will be returning in the future!

We came for the Thanksgiving lunch and it was delicious!!! A memorable 3 course experience: pumpkin soup, turkey with sweet potato dauphinois, and NY style cheesecake.

I give this place five stars for atmosphere alone. We came in to try their London Cocktail week cocktail which was really good actually (they have two choices they've made and we tried both.) The bar is so cool and definitely decked out with a lot of fun NYC and Theater memorabilia. It feels like you're in a celeb fave hidden gem spot just steps from Broadway. Our service was a little lackluster, but we had a lot of fun sitting at a table by the piano and being serenaded by the talented Lee. He made our night a true gem! All in all this place is lovely and I would def come back here again when I get to visit in the future.

One of the worst meals I’ve had. Can’t believe I paid £25 for a saveloy and chips. Every dish was such bad quality we couldn’t even finish. Service however was good.

I don’t usually leave bad reviews but, I was super excited to eat here after I saw a musical at a nearby theater. I ordered the seasonal risotto (maybe would’ve been better in a different season lol). It came out and was quite possibly the most unappetizing dish ever. The taste was close to the look. It wasn’t awful, but wasn’t very enjoyable. Also the waiting staff never checked on us..not once. We had to wave down a random waiter for our check. Definitely was a very unsatisfactory visit.

I heard about Joe Allen from the LBC radio presenter Steve Allen (no relation) so was very excited to try the restaurant with my friend for her Birthday. From the outside (and from when you walk in) you feel like you're actually in New York with the American flags and exposed brick/dark wood décor and the traditional American fare on the menu ranging from BBQ Ribs to Grilled Salmon and Italian style meatballs in tomato sauce. I also have to mention their amazing desserts (we shared a delicious and very naughty Chocolate Brownie Sundae) and were tempted by the superb sounding cocktails. If you're looking for a really fun and great value for money experience then I'd highly recommend Joe Allen. Big shout out to our lovely waitress who looked after us so well and even kindly arranged for a surprise "Birthday Ice cream with candle" for my friend's birthday.

Came here on Valentines and so glad we did. The food was amazing, full of flavour, great portion sizes and good presentation. The staff were very attentive but not over the top. The lovely lady we had serving us made sure we had everything we needed, gave us time to go through the menu and even came to check that the dish we ordered was going to be ok due to the nature of it. She also sorted us out with a drink on her because ours had not arrived on time. Even with the restaurant being really busy we were not rushed, the atmosphere was perfect and I loved the music being in the background by the pianist. Would definitely recommend this place. If you are In London, book a table. You will not be disappointed. I will definitely be back

Fantastic cocktail bar and restaurant. American influenced decor that leans in to the West End theatre area. Great cocktail menu, although they will make you whatever you want. The food is also really good. Hearty American fare. They have an off-menu hamburger as well, but get your order in early - they sell out pretty quick! Everything about this place is great - the atmosphere, the drinks, and the food. Could become a regular haunt I feel!

Good place, expect more food on the plate for the price it is. Very cosy and love the decorations!

Food and service were amazing. Great atmosphere. First photo is the ribs, second photo is the grilled middle white pork cutlet (with chimichurri).

We visited Joe Allen for a pre-theatre drink and were impressed. We were warmly greeted by a member of staff and seated straight away, the staff couldn't do enough for you and were very attentive. We only stayed for 1 drink but would definitely come back.

Excellent cocktails and spectacular service. We went on a Friday night and even though it was busy, we never waited long for drinks. The pecan pie was delicious!

Back at Joe's for lunch yesterday and had a wonderful time as always. Sampled the most delicious Fish 'n Chip starter (flaked haddock, crispy potato and tartare sauce), followed by Meatballs Pomodoro which were perfect. Staff as attentive as ever - shout out to Francesco, Owen and Max for looking after us so well. I just loved the ambience and have never had a bad visit in over 12 years. Can't wait to return!

Great dinner experience: from the moment of arriving to leaving you feel that you're being looked after. The food is great and prices are reasonable. I love their bar and their cocktails are really well made although I confess, I am not a habitual dinner-cocktail person but here it felt just right. I had the ribs and they are right up there with the best I have had in London. Highly recommended. Definitely coming back

Unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations for me. The decor is amazing, staff are friendly, good location, and fair pricing but the food and table space wasn't great. The steak was so chewy that we couldn't cut it at all, however they changed our dishes without quibble. Our small square table for 4 people having a 3 course meal and drinks is impossible! Something to b mindful of when booking. Also burgers were being served but were not on the menu.... 'if you know, you know' kind of thing. Maybe the possibility of seeing 'celebrities' and the 'secrecy hype' is an attraction but it felt a little too exclusive for no reason.

So disappointing. I have been going to JA for 25 years but last night was nothing like previous experiences. We were given a table for 4 initially despite being 6. The maitre D' was fab and did move us but unfortunately the rest of the evening followed suit. The bar was overwhelmed and drinks were so slow that our food arrived well before an aperitif. The kitchen clearly had its act together and the food came out quickly. The floor staff seemed a bit headless except for the older seasoned waiters. A manager cleared our table eventually. We waited again for drinks that we wanted with food. It was a poor experience. It was a real shame as we took some overseas friends telling them what a great place it was. I would think twice about going back.

We had a great time, from our lovely welcome, great servers and the food was really delicious, especially the calves liver. Will not leave it so long to return.
