Great experience, food was lovely, everyone was very polite and live music. Unfortunately on a pasta dish there was a big piece of plastic at the bottom so my sister only found it at the end of her meal wich was a bit discussing, we raised this with the waitress and recognised the food was really good, she appoligised and that was it..we where expecting at least some discount on that dish but no compensation for the mistake was made, we wherent expecting much since she only found it at the end of the meal but it would have been a good gesture a discount on her dish at least. We paid around £130 for 3 ladies plus tip, no desserts, 1 bottle of wine to share,2 cocktails,2 starters and 3 mains.

Stumbled across this little gem. We hadn't booked but we managed to get a table. Best to book ahead so you are not disappointed. The food is fab and plenty of it. the jazz band were awesome. It's an absolute must ❤️

Great food, excellent service & atmosphere. It's a lively place, so be prepared for this. Food is delicious and wines are well selected at reasonable prices. Jazz sessions are great and it's a warm, cosy, cossetting sort of place. Highly recommended.

An Italian restaurant that doubles as jazz venue. The food was remarkably good, on the whole, with the stuffed aubergines very tasty and highly recommended by the vegetarians in the group, and the pork medallions very succulent. The jazz ensemble, a duo with the lead Italian singer treating the diners to a smooth repertoire, was nice and acted as a background music rather than being too intrusive. Location I a quiet square of the Lace Market. Parking is extraordinarily expensive around the site, so use public transport if you can. The host and staff were impeccable. Two points worth noting: - Vegetarian options are somewhat limited and the vegetarian pasta option rather dry - The venue is more a restaurant that provides a setting for jazz rather than a jazz venue that happens to serve food. Lovely night out but would have loved a bit "rawness" and edginess about the jazz.

Tastey food, with great music and brilliant staff. I would definetely go back. We had cocktails, starters , mains and desert. Everything was great except the ravioli i had which i was not the biggest fan of the sauce (hence they lost 1 star) , but that would not put me off coming back. Next time i will try a different dish. The atmosphere was fantastic and the selesction of cocktails topped the night off. Lovely restaurant.

The BEST place for cocktails in Nottingham. The staff are very knowledgeable, and the cocktails are made with care and they take their time to make sure they're perfect. Plus, having live jazz is just the icing on the cake for atmosphere! We were in there until 1am and the buzz from the band fills the room. Absolutely brilliant place, which we frequent often.

Came here last night and it's was a really lovely experience, the food was mostly fantastic and really complex, the decor and ambience was nice and understated and the music wasn't too loud that you couldn't enjoy your conversation. Bonnie who served us was incredibly professional and went the extra mile. Anyone feeling the pinch with the current cost crisis, the Antipasti and Primi were decent portions for the total price however avoid the Secondi if you're mindful of spending.

Love everything about this place. Great cocktails, delicious food and the live jazz is always a treat. I really like the decor as well, you feel as though you've been transported when you walk through the door.

Went here for dinner on a Thursday night, was quiet but the music made up for it as the atmosphere and decor was lovely. Service was fast and our waiter was friendly and helpful, tentative but not overbearing. The food was very tasty and had an authentic feel to it. We shared an antipasti and a pasta course and had a secondi each which was more than enough as we had to take the rest of our mains home. Bang on, will be back for some live jazz I'm sure!

Great restaurant with fantastic menu & live Jazz. Service great, food was sublime. My only criticism is the cocktails didn’t feel very boozy. Even by stingy British standards.

1st time starters King pawn 😳 no only 4 in a mash I think taste nice but very small and not King … Main had slow cooked meat pasta 😳 Meat well dots of meat in pasta again Small bowl…. Dessert I had a lemon cheesecake cocktail. Which was very nice and different. Loud music bellowing out which made Conversation difficult . So a celebration meal was toned down . It was nice to experiencing something different , but I’ve done that now . All in all the food taste nice but very small so if hungry fill up before you go.

We have been coming here every since they opened (8 years? 9 years?) and it still holds a special place in our hearts. Always the most attentive and friendly service, delicious meats, pastas and steaks to die for, and the tiramisu never misses. We love the Pelican red and their cocktails are the best in town, either their own (try the lemon cheesecake!) or the classics (the best manhattans!). Great for a post work cocktail or try late on a Saturday when they have a band on, the place is always buzzing. Well done to these guys for consistently providing a brilliant location that Nottingham deserves!

One of the best place to get Italian food comment is not from me but from an Italian itself. Nice ambience and great food

Staff did as much as possible to make a birthday special, they were all wonderful. Can't thank them enough. Food was lovely, all cleaned our plates . The only tiny tiny comment is that I'd say the music was a tad too loud for diners in a smallish space, the act they had on was brilliant, we enjoyed the music a lot and of course you go to a place like the Pelican for the music as much as anything else...but we still came out with sore throats from shouting across the table at each other all evening which was a little much when the act was in spitting distance anyway.

We love it here the staff are lovely the music and atmosphere fantastic.. I just really really wish the food was better. The first time we visited about a year ago it was lovely. Ever since it been pretty mediocre. Last night I had the special it was tepid not hot at all, and the octopus was like chewing a tyre. My husbands lamb was nice though. Like I say I love this place I'm just desperately wishing the food was better.

Wonderful, little, tucked away place with a great vibe. Live musicians and cocktails. Will have to return to try the food. Enjoyed sitting in the outdoor area too

The ambience and drinks at this restaurant are fantastic and the live music on Friday nights is very enjoyable. Unfortunately the food is substandard - we had undercooked pasta, ridiculously salty sauces and small portion sizes all for a fairly high price. I would not recommend this establishment for food but great for a drink and music.

I love Italian food so keen to go there. Positives are friendly staff and clean. Negatives are food could really be improved. For example sauces too thick, pasta not fresh and the main plates are large but basic. They should reduce portion size by 20%, and focus on the ingredients and improving the texture. Remember you taste with your eyes before the food reaches your mouth. I really want this place to do well!

We had a very memorable visit. There's a great look and feel to the place. The cocktail menu is fantastic and the cocktails themselves are made to a very high standard. The staff were helpful and friendly and the live band topped it off perfectly. We'll definitely recommend and will be back.

Great evening at The Pelican in Nottingham, very relaxed & welcoming surroundings, excellent staff & food. All to the accompaniment of great live music. The Raph Acache Trio were brilliant.

The live music and atmosphere is amazing. The only reason this isn't 5 stars is because I didn't enjoy my main course that much, but I that's just down to personal taste!

Delicious food with some wonderful combinations, lovely cocktails and lovely staff topped with mellow live jazz at night, just perfect! Will definitely be returning!

Absolutely wonderful place. Have been wanting to eat here for years and the experience did not disappoint. Food was superb, staff were so friendly, and the live music - while more Blues than Jazz- made the evening perfect. I had no idea they have such an extensive cocktail menu here - Banoffee Delight was delish and husband said his Rum Old Fashioned was the best he's ever tasted. Highly recommend and will be returning!

Perfect venue all round and a lovely experience. Came for dinner on a Saturday night and the service was brilliant and cocktails and food were delicious. The atmosphere is fantastic, with nice lighting and the live band playing at the perfect volume. The prices are nothing ridiculous and absolutely worth it - our starters were £6-7, pasta mains were £11-15, and they have a few bottles of wine for under £25. If you're vegetarian/vegan, ask for the separate menu as it has a few bits on that aren't on the regular menu.
