Just tried to order a burrito, but I’m super allergic to Dairy. I asked if I could substitute the cheese for something, and was told they don’t do substitutions. Sounds good, I drove across the street. There are 5 other Mexican food places on this street. I recommend skipping this place and going to one with better customer service.

HORRIBLE FOOD!!! I am so disappointed in the quality of the fish taco I ordered. As you can see in the photos, it is incredibly dry and flat. As well as it was only topped with some dry cabbage. I would prefer Sombreros across the street any day.

I've been coming here for over 10 years now and I have been pretty happy. Today I ordered a couple burritos and they were so skimpy . I've been noticing prices going up and portions getting smaller. I will be going to Rosaritos from now on at least I get my $ worth.

Used to live in the area and visit this taco shop frequently. Had to stop there while in town. The food is pretty good Mexican food. Love the carne asada fries. I was not impressed with the long wait, lack of friendly service, and the prices. It's crazy how much fast Mexican food is now. Also not cool that 1/2 order of carne asada fries is only about $1 cheaper than a full order. Had to ask for my receipt and verify when I got my total. But I do recommend the food.

The worst burrito I’ve ever had !! California Breakfast Burrito!!! It’s like they take little or no pride in their food and you can tell !! I had to throw it away because it was disgusting!! 12 dollar lesson learned !! I will never even think of eating here again !!!!

I just paid 12 dollars for what I thought would be a good breakfast burrito, really just a bunch of unseasoned eggs with a couple tiny pieces of potatoes and a lump of sausage in the middle. It was really gross, Because there were no potatoes to soak up any of them moisture it leaked all over me before work and to top it all off they forgot my guacamole.

I really like their carne asada bowl. The price for a soda is kinda ridiculous but it is only $0.50 for a refill which isn't bad at all. The woman that works there is so rude and nasty to some of its customers. I know we all have our nerves fried over the past couple years but there is no reason to be that hateful to anyone.

I definitely will not be returning. I got a cali-burrito with chicken and I am very disappointed. 1. Chicken was sooo dry. 2. Fries were soggy. 3. Asked and paid for guacamole...didn't receive one bit of it. 4. Ordered a Jamaica... Super watered down. 5. Paid for hot carrots that weren't even hot or flavorful. The only saving factor from 1* across the board is the friendly staff at the window. Other than that I would not get food here at all.

My recommendation would be to never EVER go here if you want fast food. I sat in the drive thru for 23 minutes for an order of rolled tacos. The food is good and the people are friendly but not for 20+ minutes. For being such an old institution they sure don't have it together.

This is a great place for authentic Mexican food. Sometimes the line is long (so if your in a hurry I wouldn't suggest it) but if you have time it is 100% worth it. I have been several times and I'm never disappointed no matter the menu item I have picked it always meets or exceeds expectations.

So if you know anything about San Diego Mexican food you know that Roberto's is by and far the best original San Diego Mexican food you can get ever. Almost every location is upheld to an amazing standard and the quality really shows. This Lakeside location is one of the locations that upholds that amazing quality. Jose, your team continues to make amazing Mexican food at affordable prices and I'm incredibly grateful for that.

NA will not be returning. They post a price for their tacos yet when you pay the price is a $1.00 more. Tacos are good but tell them you don't want cheese because they pile it on loosing the flavor of the tacos.(I'm not a fan of cheese).

Overall this place is really good, but has been going downhill. The food is great. The customer service is good depending on who’s working (recently had the window slammed on me, I got there 10 minutes before they said they closed, waited 5 at the menu for someone to take my order, and when I pulled to the window the lady standing at the register yelled “WERE ALREADY CLOSED” and slammed the window and walked away before I asked why she couldn’t just tell me that instead of acting like I wasn’t waiting to have my order taken). One complaint about this taco shop is the wait is often RIDICULOUSLY long. And I’m talking 20 minutes on average. If you’re more than one car behind the speaker, expect an even longer wait. If there was a better taco shop with a drive through I’d go there, until then I’m going to continue to deal with the long wait with great food.

Best taco shop in Lakeside!! Never had bad food and I've ordered pretty much the whole menu. Friendly and fast service too!

I know Roberto's Taco shop is good because there are several taco shops very close to each other and this place has a line while the others don't. I've never had something here that isn't awesome and delicious.

Came asada burrito made to order with added rice beans and cheese. I was very happy with the flavor and portion size. The green sauce has a kick, beware.

I ordered the soft taco grilled shrimp, carne asada, and adobada. Grilled shrimp tacos were amazing, would definitely order again. The carne asada and the adobada were average to most of the other taco shops I have been to. For convenience and price per taco it was average. Would come here again.

If you're looking for a top notch breakfast burrito with everything delicious, the California Breakfast Burrito is the way to go. It's huge to boot! I cannot recommend it enough with the egg, cheese, meat in just the right proportion. Get it!
