Best Mexican food this side of Houston Texas. I’m on tour and we’ve been as far East as Houston and JV’s just smokes everything else. Even the stuff I’ve enjoyed. So yeah. This food is so good I caught myself shaking my head the first 10 bites or so. So yeah. That good. Second time I’ve been here - I don’t recall what I got the first time but it was good. This time I got the Santa Fe burrito and it was life changing. It set the new bar for food. The staff was super nice again. Friendly and accurate on my order. My friends got food as well and felt the same way. 15/10 on the taste and experience scaled. They set a new record. It’s so good you’ll shake your head in disbelief.

The food is very good! I got Street Tacos for only 6.75$, and they were more than enough. The portions are big, and the food is affordable. Best place to eat Mexican food, forget about the other fast foods. The toilet might look dirty, but it s very clean and smells really nice. If you are looking for drinks, they have a fridge with canned sodas. A burrito is around 10$.

This place is so colorful. The different color walls and bright colored construction paper all over the walls displaying more items from the menu. It was a bit overwhelming in addition to the menu board. We’ve been seeing the breakfast burrito on social media as the best breakfast burrito. Then when I was looking at the menu, I’m a sucker for flautas and chiliquiles. Got all 3 and oh wow this place is affordable. Chicken flautas ($8.95)- came with 3 flautas topped with cheese and sour cream, lettuce, tonatoes and guacamole on the side Breakfast chipotle burrito ($9.90) - this is huge! Has crispy bacon, eggs and potatoes. Every bite had a crisp. Chiliquiles ($11.90)- We got green instead of red sauce. You get a side of rice and beans with scrambled eggs. As well as a side of tortillas. Never had it this combination before. We also added a side of Creamy chipotle sauce for $0.75. The taste wasn’t the best, best. But you get the best bang for your buck. It was affordable and you get a complete meal. They don’t have a salsa bar but they have a fridge full of squeeze bottles of the red or green sauce.

JV’s, I’ve been a loyal customer for over 18 years… but what is going on lately with your burritos?! Their burritos have always been excellent and a good ratio of fillings. They’ve had a substantial price increase lately (which I understand), however the quality has gone downhill. My recent order was the usual - a few California Burritos. They were much smaller than usual. Every bite will fill with tortilla and maybe a sprinkle of asada. One burrito was even stuffed with more onions than beef, which is not the norm. I really hope things turn around. It surprises and saddens me that this is happening recently. Again, I don’t mind the pricing (which has doubled in 18 years), but I would expect the quality and quantity to remain the same.

$0.30 for using credit card. Looks like prices went up lately since they are using tape to cover old prices. Loved the nachos.

Stumbled on this Mexican food eatery hidden in a small strip mall behind Morena, and was blown away. Their menu is huge - way more than just the regular carne asada burritos and fries that define so many other Mexican food places. They have actual homemade chicken mole! And their Chipotle breakfast burrito is amazing! The interior is much larger than you would think too, with several big screens with sports on them. The whole place is clean and authentic looking, but the food is the best part! Amazing! I will be back for more.

JV’s is a quick Mexican joint located on Morena Boulevard not too far from the University of San Diego. They have been open for many years so obviously are doing something right. Today I ordered the Carne Asada quesadilla which is pretty huge. Tip: try ordering it with the spicy flour tortilla to give it a kick. The quesadilla comes with loads of carne asada and guacamole inside. They have a red and green salsa that you can also use with it. Personally, I prefer the red. Service here is always prompt and friendly. I’ve seen many of the same faces for years when stopping by for lunch. There is table seating and they also have a brisk carry out business as well. I do miss the salsa bar which has been taken down since COVID. They used to have spicy carrots and peppers on it. It can get a little warm inside on hot days so take that into consideration over the summer.

4.3/5.0 This place is great. When you first walk in it may be a little overwhelming with their menu sprawled across every wall in the place, but don’t let this scare you. Their food is fresh and very reasonably priced. Can’t beat the Taco Tuesday deal for $6 you get 3 tacos and a drink. The workers are always very nice and welcoming and are sure to point you in the right direction if you don’t know what you want to eat. Recommend trying their burritos as well. Their Al Pastor is delicious, but the carne asada can be dry on some days. Highly recommend trying this place out!
