Visiting from Belgium. Well San Diego was a last minute decision and a lot of hotels were sold out so we wanted something fast and not too crazy. We don’t spend much time in the rooms anyway. The room was “clean” and the motel was secure which is nice because the area looked a bit rough. It’s pretty much what you’d expect from a Motel 6. Bed was not horrible but not great. You only get a cheap bar of soap so I’d suggest bringing your own shampoo and body wash. We did find a cockroach near the fridge but it was only 1, that we saw. We made sure to keep our suitcase up and closed. All in all the place serves its purpose. We slept, we showered and enjoyed the city.

This hotel was horrible. Took my family here not knowing. We arrived late at night. As soon as we pulled up everyone in the car felt unsafe. Within a hour of checking in we were checking out to go to a different hotel. The only reason we were there for one hour was to find a different place to stay. It’s located next to a strip club and in the parking lot there were ladies looking for companionship and a bunch of homeless. There is literally 50 security cameras and I know this because they have the screen in the lobby. Parking is located below the hotel where it smells like a dirty bathroom. When we got into our room it smelt like cigarette smoke. The sheets looked like somebody with a dirty hand placed their prints all over the sheets. The toilet was not scrubbed and toilet paper was still on the seat. The “leather” chain in the room looked like it’s from the 70s and was all cut up. We asked for our money back and the front desk told us basically too bad. Contacted Motel 6 customer service and they told me the same thing. I let them know that I’m shocked that they would put their name to this place. I guess it cost me $150 to know that I will never do business with motel 6 again.

Rooms and coffee in the morning were alright. But what I really disliked about the place are the excessively slim parking spaces available for one. Even on a sedan is it hard to enter one's own car without hitting the vehicle of another guest :/

It was the worst place we stayed in the United States. We arrived at the hotel during the night (we had a long journey) and when we went to check in we found out that our 3-day reservation had been cancelled. The attendant said he could fit us into a room and that it would cost us half the price of the reservation we had made. Total nonsense. We had no option and we accepted. The hotel facilities are filthy. As we walked down the hallway, we kept bumping into rubbish (including a used diaper). Our room had a bad smell and our sheets were dirty and with holes (as you can see in the photos below). All in all, it was a bad experience. I don't recommend it to anyone.

DO NOT BOOK A ROOM HERE THEY WILL SCAM YOU AND TAKE MONEY! Long story short I drove 4 1/2 hours way to visit San Diego and I was calling around to see the cheapest hotel. The lady at the front desk when I was on the phone with her told me that the room would be $174.36. I told her if she can hold the room for us and she told me she can’t unless she takes my car information and they would not charge it unless I came in and checked into the room. I ended up having to leave San Diego and could not make it to the room. They charged my card The next day. I called and was very respectful and explained the situation so I can get a refund on my money because I did not step foot on their property or stay in the room. The front desk manager was very very rude and unprofessional and told me he’s not refunding me nothing and I could call corporate and do what I gotta do because he’s not giving me back my money. They are very rude and have no respect for others through this hard time. HIGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND

Minimalist rooms. Parking in general sucks. If you want to take the trolley, they will act like it is right across the street when you call but actually it is 15 to 25 minutes away walking (Google says 10 minutes but it depends on how fast you walk) and if you are thinking about driving to the trolley station, get there super early because it is a busy station and parking will be scarce. The location is not that great but you are right across the street from a Denny's and walking distance to a brewery and a strip club (if that is your thing).

I had a great experience here. Check in was fast and easy. There was plenty of parking available. The room was very clean, large, and cool. The AC was not even on when I entered so I was surprised it was still nice and cool. When I did turn it on, it worked super awesome a d stayed cold all night. I liked that the place was gated and you can only access the "halls" by using a key card for the room to get past the gates. Overall we had a very comfortable stay.

The rooms have been recently updated so it feels fresh and comfortable. I couldn’t hear any of my neighbors so the walls are well sound-proofed. Some people say the hotel location feels unsafe. Diversity doesn’t necessarily make an area “unsafe.” It’s at the edge of an industrial commercial neighborhood and across the street from an adult bookstore. Aside from that, I liked the vibe and enjoyed my 2 nights I stayed there and would probably stay there again. I didn’t like that I was charged an extra $30 to check in 3 hours early, but I won’t lose any sleep over it.

The deposit used to be 50 but now is 100$ BUT they just redid all the rooms & the lobby. The rooms are very nice now, their basically furnished studio apartments. The manager is so cool, he will help you out with pretty much any accommodations you need. Best manager of any hotel I've been to!

This is a place I stay often. Rooms are pretty large but since the new ownership it’s pretty much kind of pricey. It’s just around 90 bucks on a week night for a two bed plus a 50 dollar “refundable” deposit which it does seem like they most of the time never return so if you think of out like that it’s about 140 for a reg. Weeknight for a 2 bed and about 150 to 200 almost on a normal “ no event “ weekend . That staff in morn form right sucks but the very nice funny older man at night is a different story he should be the manager rather than the evil last in the am .

Housekeeping 10/10 Everyone in that department was so kind and helpful and you can tell they worked very hard to maintain the hotel. Front desk 6/10 the man seemed annoyed and a little rude Room itself 9/10 very well kept and clean. Coming from a “retired” housekeeper, it was very well done and updated. Pillows were uncomfortable though. Area 1/10 it’s very sketchy and I was terrified to walk outside once it got dark there are tons of interesting people and I’m glad I came with my boyfriend on this trip because if I was by myself I would be more scared.

I have stayed at quite a few Motel 6’s in my time but this location has to be my favorite. The employees here have really created such a safe and secure environment despite the rather frightening location. I especially want to commend the front desk staff who were lovely, and accommodating. The rooms are clean, with new flat screen TV’s and very large beds that are done up daily if you book a stay-over. The lobby provides free coffee in the mornings, and the hotel offers laundry facilities and vending machines. Because of the homeless population nearby, these amenities are offered on the second and third floor to increase safety. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a budget place to stay!

Like another reviewer said, neighborhood is sketchy, but parking lot seems to be well secured. Tight parking spaces. There is a parking garage and my car couldn't fit. It fits cars of max height 6' 6". Internet signal is weak. Rooms are decent, clean, and big. If you need a quick place to sleep in, this is the pace.

The location of this hotel is off putting to some. But Motel 6 has done a great job with revamping this building and really expressing it up after buying it from the previous owners. The rooms were very nice. The only drawback I saw to the room was if you're extremely tall, the room I was in I Could Touch the ceiling of the shower with my hand which never happens because I'm only 5 ft 2 in. Of course pets are welcome. And the smoking area is very nice and a good place to bring your animals. It is fenced in.

It is close to Sea World, which is great. The staff is nice and they clean everyday. The only drawback is that it is next to an abandoned restaurant, and there is a group of homeless there. There is security on site every night though so we never had any issues with any of them. I wouldn't bring my kids here, but it has been great for my husband and I.

I didn’t take photos before entering the room, but it’s impressively clean and well-maintained. The recent renovations and new management are evident, with someone inspecting the rooms after cleaning. The breakfast was fantastic, offering a variety of options—eggs, patties, waffles, muffins, bagels, yogurt, and coffee—all impeccably organized and clean. This hotel is clearly committed to high standards and putting in a commendable effort. While the hotel isn’t situated in an ideal area, they’ve taken proactive measures by enclosing the entire property, implementing security cameras, and ensuring a strong security presence.

This place had better security than a 4 star hotel I've visited. Front desk crew were super friendly and helpful. The room was fine. The fridge worked, TV worked, AC worked. It was a pleasant stay overall. Two downsides were the walls are thin. We could hear people having conversations outside our room late at night since we were by the staircase. Bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. The bed wasn't very comfortable either. Honestly, the location and friendly crew made up for any negatives.

I'm going to give this place four and a half stars out of five stars. The only reason I don't give it five is because they didn't have a place to hang clothes but since they are remodeling I think that is the reason. The location is off the beaten path but still very close to Ocean Beach only a 6 minute drive not bad at all and the rooms were immaculately clean. The front desk were very nice ladies and so were housekeeping services plus it was quiet and a pretty darn decent place to rest our heads considering the price.

The rooms where very nice. Pretty clean honestly. However the neighborhood is very sketchy and made us feel unsafe until we got into our room. The men at the front where rather rude as well. You get what you pay for so I’m not too upset tbh

The hotel is renovated with large rooms great beds pet friendly and with attentive friendly staff. We stayed a total of one month and enjoyed the security measures also In this day in age you never know. Daily service if desired is amazing these days. I hear they may get micros soon ref are there my only complaint was that. The accessible rooms were really accessible...................... Ill be back!!!

The area is less than desirable with strip clubs and a population of.. um… well… Bed was comfortable, but the roaches that were racing along the walls left me running for cover… when I turned in the key I asked if I had to pay extra for the roaches… “yeah, um sorry” Please do better.. families deserve a safe and clean place to lay their heads.

This review is for the cleaning staff. Apparently many hotels don't change their sheets if they look clean enough. This hotel was seen doing a great job making sure all the bedding is changed. A+

We would have given a solid 5/5 from our first stay here, after just a small issue taken care of and went above and beyond with service & customer care. However, the 2nd time we stayed, was not the same case. I’ve booked through the app many times without issue, until now. The staff fully knew and were aware of the issue, that it was their fault, and that we had already paid to stay. They said the reservation for the new person/resident was more important. The night staff/manager had told me to come back in the morning so I could pay in the morning. Waking up at 7 am, I go down to pay only to be told there’s nothing they could do by the morning manager, then having to pack everything to check out at 11am. They fully knew our situation financially, have been very understanding…Until this, this morning staff doesn’t care. Just stunned by the day and night difference in the staff’s attitude & customer care.

Arrived with my daughter around 7pm. First impression was bars around the entire ground floor and stairs. The lobby had a 75" TV with 50 security cameras on it for everyone to see. Did NOT make us feel safe. The room smelled funny, and the bars of soap has a message that said "call this number if you feel unsafe" There were 30 grown men hanging out in the parking lot . We left after 10 minutes. Didn't feel like a safe place.

The housekeeping staff actually did their job!!! Safes in the rooms? Amazing Rooms were very well insulated from noise. Security was better than other places. Other than the early morning noise from the neighborhood forklift. A pretty good place.

Our last minute booking went well with their booking system. The rooms were clean. AC works perfectly. The friendly front desk staff are kind and smart in their work. Huge parking lot but very narrow. They haven't uploaded their recent pictures so we were confused while booking the rooms. It's pretty close to the highway and sea world. It's located 1min drive distance from a shopping complex so getting a neal was quick.

Mold in the bathroom, smelly room, extremely loud people in the halls late at night and the front desk said "they were just walking by so they could do nothing about it". I stay at a lot of Motel 6's because they are cheap and normally average places but this place was a freaking dump. Will never stay here again and highly recommend any other motel.

This is another review but also not to mention the building they have around it not good things to have near a place where KIDS STAY ans the homeless people around here is insane, the noise outside the room is so concerning with the bangs to my room door and other things I'm not sure what, just about always hearing sirens go off, like I said in my other review you can hear just about everything outside your room plus more and the pieces are kinda expensive for this kind of place. We play about 140 for 2 night and got this? I expected more then this honestly... very disappointed and disgusting.. I don't ever wanna come back again

This Motel 6 is located in a very sketchy part of town. There is a bad homeless problem in the area and they have to have wire fencing around all of the rooms. Could hear a lot of yelling and commotion throughout the night. It was a very bad place to stay with children. The bedroom was somewhat clean but the bathroom, not so much. The price was good but like they say, you get what you pay for.

We stayed 2 nites for our sons boot camp graduation 2nd worst hotel i have been in. Started with TV does not connect to devices. Bathroom so small can barely even just stand. No working ac/heater, that's just the basics then there was cockroaches no sound proofing every foot step, voice and sound can be heard including trains and plains. Even bed hard pillows are paper thin. Just all around bad hotel never going to a motel 6 again anywhere.

Stayed for two nights. Found hairs on bed sheet and room smelled. Heater keeps running because it barely produces warm air. What makes it worse is it is noisy. Woke up couple times both nights because the heater was too noisy. Also the floor was shaking for some reason and made me feel worried. Perhaps some construction near by? no idea. Not returning.
