We had heard great things about the Del Coronado and were excited about our first trip since the start of the pandemic. Unfortunately it did not come close to living up to it's billing. The only way to describe it was that the service was non-existent. We couldn't get anyone to clean our room and were unable to get anyone to answer the phone the entire time we were there. We tried calling the front desk, the concierge, even room service and were on hold over 30 minutes each time before we finally gave up. This didn't happen just one night either. It was every night of our stay. If you wanted extra towels, water or even bell service, you needed to walk across the property to the front desk to request it. While everyone was very nice and apologetic, there is not somewhere you want to go if you expect any level of service. To make matters even worse, no one told us the hotel was under construction when we booked, We were woken up each morning to the sound of construction right outside our window which started every day before 7:00. It was loud and also forced us to take long detours around the I have been a Hilton Honors member for years but this experience will make me think long and hard before going to another Hilton property. Truth be told, I've had much better service at a Hilton Garden than I had at the Del Coronado which is just such a shame .

I was visiting the San Diego area with my wife and 5 year old for a wedding and decided to stay at the Del Coronado because it was close to the beach. We also liked the fact it seemed to be kid friendly, had activities going on, great views, and a historical aspect. The whole time we were there it felt like a 5-star experience and we didn’t want to leave. We stayed in The Views building because we figured we had access to all the historical parts of the hotel, but could enjoy a newer room with a great view guaranteed. It was an excellent choice and I would stay in the same room again. The walk from the parking garage to the room was long, but the walk from the room to the beach was only a few short steps. The view from the balcony was perfect. There are several options for food and drink on the property. The food was great everywhere we went. We got coffee from the market in the morning along with pastries. The location is also walking distance to the town to many shops and restaurants. Overall we felt very safe and enjoyed our time. We would definitely come back.

A beautiful historic hotel with some tasteful modern additional rooms. High quality accommodation and good service as you would expect at such a prestigious hotel. However our enjoyment was marred by some rip-off aspects:- 1. Min table spend on the Sun Deck at the weekend (even for hotel guests) was $400. 2. A guided tour of the historic hotel priced at $40 per person 3. Sun beds & parasol on the beach $90 -- so what's the resort fee for?

We went to the Hotel Del to see their annual Christmas tree and was not disappointed. It's beautiful in silver and gold with jewel tone accents. This year is an homage to the 1920s and the jazz age. They also have a light spectacular well worth seeing and of course an ice rink with great ocean views. How can one not be in a holiday frame of mind after a visit here. Enjoy.

It has been quite some time since our last stay, but we had an absolutely amazing and enjoyable experience. The rooms were spacious, and we were treated to a refreshing breeze from the bay. The hotel offered a wide range of activities suitable for the whole family to enjoy. Our room was located towards the end of the hotel, providing us with a pleasant view of the docks and serene strolling paths. The Lanai was a highlight, offering ample space for quiet meals and engaging conversations with fellow guests. The hotel staff and maintenance services were quick to respond to our needs. There was no shortage of nightly entertainment in the surrounding areas, all within walking distance, allowing for tranquil and intimate strolls. Moreover, the area boasted several nice restaurants that offered reasonably priced meals. The presence of gyms, saunas, and a pool ensured plenty of opportunities for joyful moments. The hotel service was exceptional, with a courteous staff that made our stay even more delightful.

This hotel has two parts, the original historic building and the new part. We stayed in both parts. They did a great job preserving the historical part of the hotel. However the rooms in the old part are just too historical and old for my taste. I even jokingly said they smelled historical because you literally needed to air the strange smell out. The carpets and furnishing were all too old and worn out for me. Old building I can only give it 3.5 stars. After we moved to the Cabana View, it was day and night. Everything was brighter and moderner and cleaner. You definitely should book a room in the new building, preferably an ocean facing one while enjoying the historical common spaces in the old one. The new building deserves 5 stars. The grounds are nice and the service level is high compared to the one we stayed in Santa Barbara. This hotel is super busy in the high season. If you don’t like the crowd, try to avoid the busy season. I am sure the experience would be a lot less hectic.

Stayed here with family end of July 2021. It was a great few days. While the lobby and the main entrance was undergoing renovation, the rest of the property was great and ready. I stayed at the rooms by the pool (newer). The room was good size and the amenities were perfect. Dined at the on-site restaurants and it was equally good. The service was perfect and even with COVID it was well managed and maintained. The beach good, albeit the water temps are seasonably chiller than usual. A definite visit and spot to check out when in San Diego. A historic location and hotel.

Just visited here for sightseeing! It’s located in such a beautiful place of San Diego! You’ll get to see a very nice sunset from the beach and the decorations are amazing at night time! :) Had a nice touring around the hotel 🏨 Love to come visit again. Cheers 🥂

Amazing location! Close to everything. Many restaurants and activities are available. The food and cocktails were delicious. Our room was recently renovated. Classy and Clean! The views were worth every penny. We also received great customer service. Would definitely recommend.

It’s a beautiful resort! Their set up on the beach is very nice with plenty of outdoor seating, food, and drinks. My only negative would be how busy it was. It feels like a Disney Hotel, very nice!

We’ve always wanted to stay here and finally treated ourselves to a 4 night stay. We booked a room in the old original Victorian wing with a balcony which was beautiful and peaceful. My only suggestion was that there was a lot of wasted space in the bathroom and it was in desperate need of more counter/sink space. But it was lovely. The beach was beautiful. Not too crowded. We left before Fourth of July and I think it’s very crowded that week. Lots of eating options. It’s pricey but good. We walked into town several nights to eat. Lovely shops. Also, if you go do the headphone audio tour on the history. It’s great. You can do it on your own time at your leisure. Check out the headphones in the on property museum.

Really enjoyed our stay. Service was top notch, very accommodating. We spent 2 nights on the historic side and 1 night on the view side. Really enjoyed the “old hotel.” Beautiful room with a great view. The view side had a fire pit and beach access which was incredible, made for a great sunset. One of the best Hilton Curios in the country for sure.

I have not stayed here but I I am grateful that their grounds are open to all. Such a beautiful spot to visit. Their restaurant and bar serve tasty cocktails and food. The ice cream shop on site is a family favorite!

The grounds of the hotel are gorgeous. It is very clean and the beach can’t be beat. Was there for a conference and wasn’t able to chose our room. We were placed in the historical Victorian section which was nice but in desperate need of an update. Other conference guests stayed in the Cabanas for the same price and had much nicer rooms. In the historic section, the bathroom had quite a bit of deferred maintenance and evidence of a lot of leaks. Also a single pedestal sink that could barely accommodate a place for toothbrushes isn’t practical. Glad I got to experience this hotel as it is legendary. We got to meet Bellhop Bobby while checking out and he offered us exceptional service. He is quite the asset to the hotel!

We stayed at Hotel Del for the purpose of getting married nearby at sunset cliffs. The manager Ashley and staff went above and beyond to make our experience memorable enough to last a lifetime. It was very romantic, and very private. The staff are some of the most professional happy people whom you can tell love their jobs very much. It was a pleasure. We look forward to visiting again in the future.

The price I paid was $555.00. The arrival was greeted by an African/American male at the concierge with a cold & robotic attitude, making us feel unwelcome. The room was good. We were there on business and worked all day, so when we were done with work, we were so dead tired and went straight to bed. In the morning, we showered. My GOD! The water never got hot. Not even warm, so we showered quickly and thought, :is this what we did for?" The food was expenseive and did not come with any side dish. The worst part was we had to wait for 40 minutes before it came to the table. By that time, we lost our appetite and took it to-go. The only good thing was an honest maintenance man named Norma. He found my left behind wallet with $1000 & credit card + ID and gave it to the front desk. Otherwise, I would have given less than 3 stars.

This hotel is to be commended for their holiday spirit towards all. Anyone can tour the fantastic holiday displays, watch the ice skating, or just revel in the magnificent spirit of the Del WITHOUT CHARGE! They are so accommodating to all paying or not that I think they set a nationwide example. I watched kids dance in the snow, play on the beach, and most of all experience family time in a very special place and the staff was SO tolerant of the few errors in decorum I saw. Truly a community event at their expense. BRAVO DEL!!

1st of all, Hilton must have a great hiring process because every Hilton property I've stayed at has had incredible staff. The Hotel de Coronado is a beautiful property with a lot to do. Great experience and awesome rooms. Only tip for the Victorian Building would be to bring some good smelling spray because the bathrooms don't have fans.

Excellent setting on the beach. I would give it 4 stars but there's currently construction on the premises which makes it noisy sometimes. Customer service is top notch as well. I would personally not stay in the older building since I enjoy newer amenities but the room in The Views building was excellent. Pool area is very nice but heavily used by families with children too, just something to keep in mind. Cabanas are nice, food and drinks are both great.

Such a gorgeous, historic hotel. A little pricey, but the proximity to the ocean and its location on Coronado Island is totally worth it. We had some issues with our room, but the staff were able to get it resolved quickly.

This was my first time staying here, and I was so disappointed with the rooms. The Christmas ambiance is great down in the lobby, very beautiful, but the rooms are terrible. I walked in and was shocked at what it looked like for the price of the hotel. It looked like an old small smelly studio apartment. It felt dirty and and I didn’t sleep all night. There was a giant stain on the headboard, the carpet was gross and old, no decorations or charm to the rooms at all, and they are tiny! And the smell was so bad I couldn’t sleep. My husband and I have been wanting to stay here for so long over the years for Christmas because of the beautiful lobby and outside area. I would never stay here again. Next time we’ll just come to look at the lights and decorations and stay somewhere else. Gave it 2 stars for the lobby and Christmas decorations, and the lady at the front desk was nice.

Grew up visiting the Del on family vacations and I have always had a deep nostalgic love for it. Happy to see the front being restored (loved the stained glass) but I miss the original elevator It's different and less personal since Hilton bought it but I am still fond of it's Victorian charm and picturesque locale.

My fiancé and I spent our 3rd straight anniversary at the Del this last weekend and every year it gets better and better. We love coming here and the amazing front desk professionals are one of the reason we keep coming back. Leah is outstanding and you can tell she takes pride in her work. She made us feel at home from the second we got here. 10/10 trip we will see you again next year!

Hotel is beautiful and sprawling right on the enormous beautiful Coronado beach. Many levels of awesome rooms are available but if you stay in the historic hotel the rooms are large but need some updated furniture, which just seemed worn. Service was good and prompt and food and drinks available everywhere. We had a lovely time over 4 nights. However, it was exorbitantly expensive in a way that felt egregious. A single beer out of the cooler, not served, is $15. Buffet breakfast is $45 ea. and that’s just the low end options. 2 beach chairs and an umbrella - $100+. Still did it and loved it, but be prepared. Ironically would have spent more on site if the prices were more reasonable. We ended up eating most meals after a short walk into town. Felt like they miss out by being over the top. Also Valet is $75 per night plus tips. Still a great experience and look forward to a return to a beachside cabana room next time.

Beautiful old hotel. Fun day just walking around and checking it out. Lots of food choices, rentals and beach access. The beach is clean and not too crowded. Love the history of this place.

We have been going to The Del for 25 years. We were engaged at The Del and married on the island. We’ve experienced dining at The Del on each visit over the years. And it’s always been fabulous. So my Thanksgiving 2023 experience had to be pretty sad in order for me take the time to write a review about how disappointed we were with our Thanksgiving Day Feast. Food was tasty but room temperature. Lines were long with poor flow. Servers were bumming into our chairs constantly as they rushed by our table. And we couldn’t even get our water filled or a cup of hot coffee. The ambience in the Southpoint Event Center is very corporate with zero charm. Service was terrible. The route to the restrooms goes right by the kitchen with kitchen doors wide open for all to see the chaos. Come on Hotel Del, you are so much better than this. If this had been my first visit to The Del. . .

Visited this hotel because it's stunning. They were having a convention (something to do with Petroleum) and it was a busy day with lots of loud people beginning each sentence with "I....". Looking past that, the main building is absolutely gorgeous particularly the roof. We walked around the beach front and the hotel is now a sprawling mass of separate buildings/villas etc with guests all vying to show they can spend more than the previous guest. We had a couple of cocktails at one of the beachfront bars that had a singer with a guitar. He was really good and entertaining. And whilst there you get to watch the free airshow of US Navy jets flying over. Wonderful location, but not sure I'd want to stay there. It reminded me of a Vegas hotel

We visited the Hotel to partake of the beautiful Christmas light show in the outdoor trees & to do some shopping. My daughter lives 30 mins away so we did not spend the night. The Hotel has adorable gift shops, a great choice of dining, snacking or dessert venues. We watched ice skaters with the ocean as a breathtaking back drop. My 2 year old grandson found lots to look at, areas to play & loved the munchies we bought while shopping.

The most magical location in San Diego for the holidays! My husband and kids (4 & 6 years old) enjoyed a beautiful afternoon at the Del by the ice skating rink. The decorations are beautiful and the hotel is adorned with the most festive vibes! The food and beverage offerings were perfect and we had the best service from our host Skyler! Truly a treat for kids and adults. Cannot wait to come back for the other holiday events!

This is a wonderful hotel with a great history and great service. I would suggest you check-in online if you can because the check-in line is always long. From the food to the drinks to the beach chairs, it's an expensive place but worth a splurge.

Hotel was great, the scam of an upgrade was not. We had reservation for Ocean View room, when checking in we were told that our room is no longer ocean view due to construction and for a $100 more per night we'd be upgraded to a much better room. We took the upgrade, unfortunately the upgrade had a view of the parking lot. I tried to resolve with management to no avail. Paid for Ocean View got upgraded to Parking Lot view. Thanks, we had so much fun /sarcasm.

The Hotel del Coronado is absolutely beautiful. It is a large resort that has everything you need in a perfect location. We stayed here for a long weekend. They had a special brunch, several nice restaurants, a pool, a gym, immediate access to the beach, etc. So, you really don't have to leave the resort. I signed up for classes at the gym and it was a lot of fun. We loved the ice cream shop and restaurant on the beach as well. It is also very family-friendly. For example, my mom really enjoyed the historical tour. It was great that the hotel was so wheelchair accessible. That said, it is an older hotel that has been renovated a few times - but some parts have been renovated and some parts haven't. Our room was in the renovated section, so it was beautiful. I heard some people had issues with the rooms in the non-renovated areas, though, because the facilities are a bit older. On a separate note, since we were there for a long weekend, it was crowded, and, unfortunately, the hotel was understaffed. One day they forgot to clean our room, another time it took longer than average for room service to deliver something, etc. Overall, it didn't bother us, but I can see how it can potentially bother someone else. Nonetheless, I would definitely recommend the hotel. We come here every year and I hope to continue to do so. Even if you do not stay overnight, I would recommend having lunch or dinner here because it is a historic hotel in a beautiful area.

Have always wanted to stay here and finally was able to. A most enjoyable experience! Loved the ambiance of the place. Right on the beach. Lots of restaurants nearby. Our room was very clean and spacious. We had the 2 queen with partial ocean view at the Victorian and absolutely loved it!

This is a stunning property that you have to experience when you're in the San Diego area. We just stopped by for the day to visit family staying there. The views from this historic hotel are phenomenal. Around the property, you'll find several options for food, drinks, and more.

We have been here a few times and have had mixed feelings. We have had really crummy service on the Sun Deck (like leave because they have ignored you for so long and other tables that arrived after you have their meals already and you have asked twice) and slow and confused but friendly service at the Taco Shack- but great service at Serea and Sundaes. Our last room was one of the cabanas facing the ocean with a fire pit. The shower steamer was great and it was so nice to relax on the terrace. The furnishings were all really modern and nice. The room door is heavy and if the terrace door is open it slams with extreme scary force. We had to be so careful. Our fire pit was awesome but would not shut off…it ran all day and night which we worried was unsafe. Check-in can be long and busy and finding the room is a serious trek. The beach is beautiful (but doesn’t allow dogs in that area) and we love the sandcastle. So, all in all, it’s a combination of too big and busy yet still a beautiful location and nice in the right rooms and early in the morning when less people are around.

There isn't enough space to describe all of the wonderful details of the historic Del - hospitality on steroids, fabulous food, very accommodating staff even though they were crazy busy. Loved the audio history tour. Our first assigned room looked straight at a construction dumpster and the desk staff switched us to a 5th floor ocean front room with a gorgeous balcony. We'll definitely be back.

I was here for a District Rotary Conference. I used points. The hotel made every effort to accommodate my request from 2 nights 1 room to 1 night 2 rooms for the same price/points. I requested the change the night before. Whatever the circumstance that led to the change, kudos for going out of your way to accommodate!

One of the best location on the Coronado island. It's on the beach, with expansive lawn for kids to play or for events. They have beach lounge chairs for someone to relax after cold dip in the ocean or without it. Nice restaurants options to enjoy lunch or dinner. The top notch place is their bar which is open late and makes it for perfect nightcap. It makes perfect addition to the date night. We always base a point to do nightcap here and loved the atmosphere and ambiance under the cloudy sky, all the time. It's part of Hilton Hotels now!

Everything is posh yet laid back, trendy yet timeless. A very good concept of a day spending resort with shops, bars, restaurants and beach / pool. Did not get a room, but since everything else is remodeled, I assume so are the rooms. A must on weekend on Coronado!

Such a great experience! We loved that we could bring our dog too! Customer service is impeccable! From the front reception to the pizzeria to the attendant. We especially appreciated the attendant, Burton. He assisted us in carrying our luggage and calming down our pup in our way to the hotel room. He was so sweet, accommodating and funny! Thank you!

Staying here is an experience. Our room was spotless and the location of the hotel cannot be beat. We enjoyed the pool, yoga on the beach, and nightly walks for icecream after dinner. We felt safe the entire time. We'll be back!

This is great historic location to have a wedding or event! Every time I DJ here I'm always impressed with the experience! Great service, high quality, and stunning views. This is also one of the few locations in town where you can do your ceremony on the beach!

I want to start this off by saying that we did not stay here! With that being said, we did visit during the holidays bc we heard about the light show and the ice skating along the beach. If you can go visit, please do so! The hotel is absolutely gorgeous and there is SO much to do all around it. We did walk the shops along the hotel and got food and coffee and everything was great!

My company party was cancelled due to Covid so we didn't get to stay. I had to make 2 different reservations due to the company only paying for one night. A cancellation was sent a month prior, but didn't realize it only covered the first night. The second reservation was cancelled 52 hours prior to check in, and since policy is 72 hours they refused to refund any of the $365 a night charge. Pretty poor service during todays times. Not like the hotel can't afford it. Hopefully our company won't rebook with this hotel, and if they do I will choose a different hotel to stay in.

Great hotel with tons of history and right on the beach! Lots of places to go shopping near by and also a Walgreens down the road for when your kiddo gets sick, like mine... This hotel also has many stores on the ground floor to shop in kind of like a mini mall environment which was nice. Valet service is incredibly prompt as was the bellman. My favorite part was sitting on our room's ginormous balcony at night overlooking the harbor, very very relaxing. Would definitely stay here again!

Seriously what is not to like? It’s gorgeous, iconic, filled with history, stays true to itself on the southern coast of Cali. The service is great, the rooms, (even in the Victorian) where we always stay, are filled with amazing history and stories and they never get old. We come back every year for a girls trip and will continue! The pool, the restaurants, the story bar, the shopping, the sun deck, the ice cream shop and all my wonderful walks in the morning. The fireworks are quite the show also!! Lots of southern love sent to the Del! We love and thank you for all the memories you give our family year and year.

Tonight was awesome, 1st timers from Texas. Devon was helpful and knowledgeable. Very accommodating and kind. The Grilled Sea Bass tacos, out of this world. Spicy tuna & crispy rice so unique and delicious. The grilled and chilled shrimp perfection. We will be back every trip back to Coronado Beach.
