We needed a very last minute, pet friendly hotel room and we booked this hotel at the recommendation of an online booking agency. It was in September and we were charged $116 online with a $15 service fee and upon arriving at the hotel we were then charged an additional $50 deposit and a $10 hotel fee. So a total of $191. I liked that there were no extra pet fees. When we arrived, we saw a small building with two floors. Each room had its own outside entrance, which I liked since we had dogs with us. The parking spaces were FEW and each space was VERY narrow. Upon entering the room, it was very small with 2 queen beds, with one nightstand in between, and a tiled floor. It had a small refrigerator, a small microwave and 2 packs of coffee. The bathroom had a shower/tub combo, but no hair dryer. There was no closet, but had a small rack with some hangers. We pulled back the cover on one of the beds to find what looked like dirt particles or insect feces on the sheet. We immediately saw a cockroach crawling up the wall between the beds. There was a second cockroach that I was able to snap a picture of, before killing it. I've attached a picture. Obviously, we didn't sleep much that night and we would have loved to leave, but had nowhere else to stay, plus our reservation was non-refundable. If this hotel did not have dirty sheets and cockroaches, we might stay again, but many reviewers speak of witnessing cockroaches, so I doubt we will chance it again. I just hope there were no bedbugs!! It's a shame that they don't have the building sprayed for pests. It would help their business tremendously. When I reported the cockroaches on the following day, the receptionist said he would tell the cleaning lady??? We shouldn't expect to pay this much money to sleep with cockroaches or possibly other unknowns.

What a fantastic lodging choice! Rawnak's exceptional kindness and flexibility made my stay truly delightful. With his assistance, I secured a room at a great rate. My brief visit to San Diego was wonderfully enhanced by my decision to stay here, which proved to be nothing short of excellent.

I did not stay because it was not even slightly as represented. I somehow missed the really bad reviews before I booked. I note that there were good reviews that could not be for real if you saw it. I came to check in. A friend was with me. We looked at 2 rooms. I had paid online nonrefundable and I almost just grinned and bore it. My friend thought I was crazy to even cinsider staying. It was so dilapidated. Cigarette burns on dirty curtains. Pervasive cigarette smell. A board under mattress.Thread bare linens I was reluctant about. Broken fixture in a bathroom. Dirty walls. Splotches of paint covering over spots? They had said it was renovated I thought. Lighting inside and out dim even in daylight. I went to get gas after checking in. Saw another hotel nearby which was clean and safe. I went there. It did not feel slightly safe at the place I almost stayed. I would have been awake all night. Was promised a refund if I went through Booking.com. My friend was a witness. I am getting no response. This place had the look and feel of a transient night motel. l went to the BBB. So far nothing. They need to fix that place up and advertise truthfully.

if I had the option I wouldn't give it a star... Save your money, find another hotel. This one is dirty and not up to living standards, even if you only need it for one night. The sheets do not feel or look clean. If you need to use the bathrooms those are also dirty. Room 107 is connected to the reception desk. Stay away from room 112 also. Bad communication skills.

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone because of this. I'm given 3 for service because they were able to provide me with a hair dryer. 1) Too Noisy 2) No hot water 3) AC unit doesn't get cold even at 65 degrees 4) Spring box bed 5) Very thin walls 6) Bugs

Do not stay here, wi fi was down for 24 hours. Rooms are dirty, people hanging out in front of rooms smoking on a no smoking property. Charged me 40 dollars for a early check in when room was available. I work in area and was off early from boat. If you have a debit card they hold your funds for over 5 to 7 days. For what? I also think they own Point Loma Hotel, they are now the dirt bags of point loma.

The service here is the worst! When arriving for check in we encountered a sign saying “be back in 10” and we waited 30 minutes, the rooms are not the same as the photos! Don’t come her save your money!

Bed bugs , bugs everywhere ! Worst hotel ever! We went in the room and literly went back out because it was just disgusting. We asked for another room ,at first they just offered a insect spray to get rid of them & I told him I'm not going to be in a room smelling bug spray! So they gave us another room and that's where I seen bed bugs and I went back down for a refund which they denied so yeah , we lost our money but I was Not about to spend the night there.

This place kept my deposit said I smoked in the room… I was there for 1 night with my son and wife we checked in at 5pm with the room smelling good. left to the park. When we came back from the park around 11pm the room smelled like a box of cigarettes, neither me or my wife smoke. At that time there is no one to attend you and I left at 7 am. I called them when I got back home and seen that they charged me 80 for smoking in a room… good luck trying to get your money back they will tell you to call back tomorrow please come again lol.

The hotel is horribly dirty. There were toenails and crumbs all over the floor when I arrived. As well as, strands of hair in one of the beds. Clearly indicating the room had not been cleaned or serviced before I arrived. I had to go back down to the front desk to ask him for someone to come clean the room further. The attendant didn't ever arrive. The walls are filthy also. The room was badly done and poorly maintained. I would never spend my money at this location again. I was honestly afraid of getting bed bugs.

I was so pleasantly surprised by this place! A little gem in SD! Stylishly and thoughtfully updated.. Super clean, a HUGE bonus. The staff was accomodationing and very kind. It's a tad on the small side and really needs some bed-side tables... But for the price I was very impressed. Will definitely stay here again.

Super friendly and professional staff. The rooms are clean and it was quiet. Easy walking distance from anything you might need. Good location for families wanting the beach or young singles wanting nightlife. Close to where we needed to be for the weekend

This room was horrible, the AC made noise like an aeroplane engine and I couldn't sleep. The room was ugly, and nothing like the pics avertised. There was no closet and it smelled bad. I honestly regretted staying at this place and payed over $200 for it. It's just a dirty motel.

DO NOT BOOK HERE. we booked a room online then canceled immediately due to testing positive to COVID. they already charged us the full amount and initially promised to refund, then claimed it was against their policy and kept our money. this place is a scam, they were rude and unhelpful. i wish we had read the yelp reviews before making the mistake to book. ZERO STARS

Disgusting. Do not book here. They will not give you a refund. Oil or lube on the sheets. Broken TV and bathroom fixtures. Wish I saw the Google reviews before booking through Expedia.

I enjoyed my stay as it was comfortable and clean. The front desk staff is a kind and reasonable, and empathetic person. Good amenities and value during my stay but watch out for those early weekend prices. The prices should not deviate from great value to "are you trying to exploit good nature?" to a sick joke.

The staff is always great to us, we feel like we are at home with how courteous they are to us. The location is really close to a bus stop and other areas of Point Loma that are great for a walk through, and plenty of restaurants within walking distance as well, including two 24 hour restaurants.

DO NOT BOOK HERE! 25 days in the US and this was the worst hotel. The room is TINY, not clean, lots of maintenance issues and VERY noisy, not just street noise but also plumbing noise and the walls are paper thin, I spent two consecutive nights having to put up with the sex going on upstairs… you can hear EVERYTHING going on in other rooms! The toilet is ridiculously close to the wall to the point where you have to wedge yourself under the toilet roll holder to sit on the toilet properly, there is a big gap in the window covering so even with the curtains pulled people walking by the room can see right into the bathroom. The air conditioning is so noisy you can’t sleep with it on, but then it gets too hot without it on. The bathroom had other people’s hair in places, the sink had a crack through it, you can’t run the shower without water also coming from the bath tap. There is minimal parking so other guests end up double parking behind other cars, on both mornings I was there I had to find owners of cars to move so I could get my car out. I couldn’t wait to leave this hotel. I even contemplated leaving early and finding somewhere else to stay.

They will not refund you your money for the paid service you did not recieve. They will close the front desk before midnight and you will not be able to check in. This place is TRASH. SCAMMERS.

First room has roaches. Broken windows. Multiple doors look like someone tried to pry it open with a crow bar.

Room is very tiny. No dining table. No exhaust fan in the bathroom. The ac works good.

Place looked decent, but there were roaches all over the room, in the bathroom, on shelves, on the curtains, running across the floor. I left immediately.

Was contacted by the GM from the original booking site complaints below, told I should call so they can make this better. Ended up calling a week later and asked 'What do you want?' and that they'd just try to do better next time I came in - yeah, no We checked into our first room and found what seemed to be mold on the ceiling, or something growing, the bathroom had flys coming from the drain, the AC had an exposed electrical socket that you could see sparking from the outside, and the television looked like it had been chewed threw. The room's other switches and sockets were quite dirty, and all sockets were loose enough to the point they couldn't hold 2 pronged USB chargers. After getting a second room, some of the problems were fixed, but things like the electrical sockets still being loose and shelves not even being attached with screws was pretty sad. Our bathroom had no fan, so it was a constant issue of a damp bathroom. Additionally, the bathtub faucet was not attached correctly and shot out at someone using the shower - I went to the front desk and was provided with a few Allen keys and an apology - so I hope you don't mind fixing your room while you are here. Things like the room being dirty and smelling like cats/dogs were an issue too, but since hotels were at a premium it's all we could stay at. I wish I would've known the poor state of the hotel and spent a few hundred more for an overall nicer place to stay. I don't mind staying at ratty places, but this made me feel uncomfortable.

The best thing about this hotel is the location and the price. The cleanliness, I'd rate it at 60% and that's being generous, especially after covid. I questioned myself if the price is worth it. At least I didn't find any bugs. That being said it is in a state of disrepair. The room is small and feels cramped. 2 queen sized beds in a 15'x15' ft space w/ a 4'x5' bathroom. (These are close approximations, I didn't actually measure it.) The shower faucet was broken and the bathroom lacked sufficient lighting along with the door being busted. Someone must have held a WWE wrestling match in there because there is no reason for it. I didn't take pictures of the broken stuff, use your imagination. You can tell at one point they did try to upgrade/remodel the rooms but once the money got put into it everything else remained in a state of neglect. It smells fishy with just a touch of urine soaked nicotine in the hallways when you are on the stairs and some spots of the concrete floor are slippery when wet. If you can put up with all of that then the price really isn't all that bad. I've stayed in worse. The TV worked, didn't try the microwave or the fridge. Once I left, I didn't notice any new body sores or cankers so I'm gonna bleach down and call it good.

Worst hotel and service we have ever encountered. Dirty and unsafe. The windows do not close so anyone from the street can enter the room. When we told the staff if they would be responsible if something happened, he laughed. And the manager just didn’t care. Very impolite and unprofessional. Obviously we canceled the stay without being able to. It was worth losing money for us (be careful, they don't refund if you cancel). Horrible experience. The location is good though….but I just recommend to go somewhere else.

I was booked to stay here with my family Jan 2024. I'm usually pretty easy to please with accommodation, and I'm sure the rooms would have looked fine, but we unfortunately never ended up seeing them. I asked explicitly whether they had any problems with pests, which the front desk denied so we went ahead and checked in early at the desk and left our bags with them, which they stored in the laundry. When we came back from our travels to pick up our luggage and rest, I saw that their laundry room was crawling with cockroaches everywhere, with our luggage in the thick of it. I was horrified by the state of the room and frankly shocked by the blatant lie, but when I made my concerns known I was just told that the rest of the hotel is fine... And that just the laundry room has cockroaches, which is just about as ridiculous as his lie was in the first place. Any attempts to get a refund were completely shot down, telling us to go through our third party booking site, but when we did and they contacted the property manager at aquamar, they blatantly lied about the whole situation as well and never amounted to anything. The health and safety concerns here are shocking and the dishonesty of the establishment even more so. Please save yourself the stress and stay somewhere else.
