I’ve been coming to this place for a decade. It was my favorite place in San Diego by far. The hotel is quaint and quiet, they have plenty of the exact games I like, and their staff is very friendly. A key to me continuing to come back is this felt like the only place around with fair payouts. With gambling, losing is part of the game. On average, I used to win big one out of 3 visits. It leveled out to where I was a Platinum member, with awesome Resort benefits. About a year ago, I noticed the machines had tightened up. Hard to get bonuses with zero payouts. This has happened on the trips for the past yea now. Everyone around me was complaining about payouts today, so I know it’s not just me. Once a buzzing casino floor with cheers and laughter is now comparable to a library. It’s quite different than when I first came here. Even my host confirmed the uptick of complaints because of the low payouts. Since the payouts have been less, I have been coming less. My status was lowered to Gold. In order to get back to my old level, I would need to gamble about $7,000 in a month. This is my last stay here for the unforeseeable future. Gambling is a risk, but at this point I don’t feel the need to just burn my money in the machines. It’s a bummer that this place has declined.

Stayed three nights here and loved it! The resort has beautiful grounds, including a couple nice large ponds to sit by and watch the wildlife, a large walk-through rose garden, old farm equipment, and more. Our room was on the first floor and had a nice patio. We could walk right from our room in the morning and drink coffee by the pond with the ducks. The employees were all very nice and accommodating. The room was large and clean. Lots of restaurant and food options. We did lose everything we brought for gambling, but the casino is huge and has lots of slots. We will definitely be back!

They went all out to create a beautiful hotel and casino that would not only satisfy locals but those with above average taste. The design of the buildings are very elegant and the property layout is well planned. Service was of a very high standard. The moment you turn into the property, you are greeted by a guard waving and welcoming you, Valet is available or feel free to find your own parking spot. There are plenty of spaces due to the size of the property. A walk through the hotel on the second floor takes you to the casino entrance. Everything was very clean and the casino is non smoking. Plenty of beverage carts to serve you as well. I wasn't so lucky today so I did lose some money but I had fun trying to win.

We went to the casino only. It was most orderly and clean. The bathrooms were impressively clean. The staff was very polite and helpful. A nice food offering at the food court, although most items were overpriced in my book. There was no sports book that I could find, about the only less than excellent thing I could come up with. Although it's over 20+yrs old, it has been kept up to date extremely well. There was plenty of parking too. I really liked that it was no smoking in all main areas. There IS a dedicated smoking lounge for those intent on killing themselves slowly. It was an excellent way to spend some time. Both my wife and I won at the slots, yet another plus... 👍👍👍

Very nice looking casino! But the good stops there. I've been to a lot of casinos and I have to say that the slot machines at this casino do not pay at all and I'm not saying that as a $0.50 cent to $0.75 only bet the minimum. I try everything from the lowest bet to Max bet and went through $600 in less than 45 minutes. The machines just don't pay anything.

This is by far the most beautiful casino I've been to so far. I would come here just to sit and admire the scenery...so very tranquil and therapeutic. It's a fun casino too, with lots of food options, high end, casual, and food court...I'd calm it boulevard style. Lots of gaming options including table games. But we liked best was that it's the only Non-smoking casino I've been to. Sage Café has great food and a lovely view of a pond on their property. They're open early morning to 10pm, and serve breakfast all day. I only wish we could stay a night there.

This is an elegant 24 hour American Fair restaurant inside the casino. We were greeted and seated by the front desk host. I ordered 2 eggs 2 pancakes 2 sausages 2 bacon, English muffin (Barona double deuces??) , my friends enjoyed their meals equally as well. Our server was kind, our food came out hot and delicious in a timely manner💚 the ladies room located directly outside of the restaurant was neat and clean.

It's a very nice.. well put together establishment. The attendants are super friendly and helpful... I try to come back whenever I can. Also if you spend a little money in the casino... I would say that you are almost guaranteed to hit a jackpot of little or big proportion.... Depending on the amount you spend.

I just went for my first casino experience and it was fun losing money with the boys. Workers constantly checking up and asking if you want free drinks was the cherry on top for this clean casino. ALSO if you’re down $100 , bet $200.

WARNING to all that want to have a good time gambling, DON'T COME HERE! If I could give it a 0 that's what I would rate all their slots. I have been coming to this casino for over 20 years and have never walked out with a penny. They say they have the loosest slots, that's a lie. I win better at the golden acorn and that's just a little whole in the wall.

Took our mom out for the night for another late mother day celebration. It was a good night with family until Hang who was the dealer started dealing at the Asian poker table. My brother bet the insurance bet and got Queen high but she just took his bet saying there was no bet there. Both my brother and I were shocked because we both saw the bet there and were talking about how he got the insurance bet. She kept insisted that she’s right and we were wrong. We requested to check camera and she called the pit boss over who let my brother win his bet. Ever since then she kept giving us attitude. When we asked for help since we were beginners at Asian poker, she refused to check the machine how to play the cards even when the pit boss told us we can do that. My mom, who was enjoying the game, stopped having fun because of her attitude. We soon walked away from the game because we didn’t want to deal with her horrible service and felt we were not welcome. Left Barona on a bad note. Barona please revise your customer service training. I frequent Barona often and chose Barona to take my mom there for a good fun night, but I am very disappointed with the service that we received.

Barona focuses on customer service which I appreciate. Yes it’s a casino, you win some you lose some but I am confident that the payouts are higher than other casinos. No you don’t walk in and hit the jackpot, but I’ve been skunked far too many times at other casinos in the socal area time and time again. They focus on you enjoying your time. If you don’t NEED to drink it’s the best because you never run into drunks and more importantly, angry drunks. I enjoy my liquor but I also enjoy going to Barona since they focus on cleanliness so much.

Everyone is super friendly and accommodating. Smoke free casino floor and everything is VERY clean . I loved every minute of my stay. The food is great and spectacular service. The drive in can be a little tricky if you are unfamiliar with the roads so I would suggest you drive in during daylight your 1st trip. Good luck and enjoy the place and people !!!!!

After gambling in Las Vegas for most of my life, this is such a come down. The casino is beautiful, lots of machines, however, no smoking and no alcoholic drinks being served, is a bummer. You better not drive here or go home at night. Long and winding road to get there.

The room was beautiful! So clean and fresh. Nice view over a small waterfall with surrounding plants. I loved it. Best thing!!! SMOKE FREE!!! The staff was very helpful, courteous and had no problem with answering questions. Quick and efficient! Location is good. Its not to far yet away from the everyday grind. My friend and I had a blast while enjoying a much needed reprieve. To say we had a lovely time was probably an understatement. Wished I'd taken pictures.

This review is just for the casino. It is a nice, smoke-free and alcohol free casino. It felt very clean and comfortable while gambling. The interior seems pretty updated with new, nice machines and the ATM is free!

Did you know Barona Casino is the only casino that is smoke-free? Not only that, their scooters are free to use. I knowwww no brainer, right? The food court is very good and has a variety of delicious food items. The one fault I have is that the better restaurants are only for the diamond and higher customers, which I find is arrogant and elitist. How much more income they could realize if it opened up to the regular customers. What a waste. Overall, it is a good place to visit and maybe win some cash. Hope to see y'all there, just don't win all the money, leave some for me. See you there 👍.

Took my Nephew who just turned 18 to experience his first trip to play some games. It was really nice to play in a smoke and alcohol free environment. The place was spotless clean and we had a great time.

I love Barona! The ranch/farm style casino sits on some of the most lush land there is in the county!! I enjoy taking in the scenery almost as much as I love the service, amenities, and of course the fun they offer! I can't give 5 stars, because I don't agree with some changes they've made since they reopened after the COVID-19 pandemic.. in fact I have quit playing with my players card altogether as a result. No more fun bites! What?! Whoever's idea that was, that was a bad call in my eyes. But, then again, who am I? Seems like as soon as I quit playing with my card, suddenly the hosts I was on a first name basis with had no idea who I was anymore. And that was awkward for some time, like "oh, no I'm not raising my hand to say hi or anything.. I'm only about to run my fingers thru my hair" kind of awkward, hehe! Now they are the "home of the VIPs" and so if not platinum or diamond (top 2 of 4 tiers) one is just the low man on the totem pole (yes, I did!) And there's nothing low key about this. In the main parking lot a huge sign saying"Home of the VIPs" is plastered to the side of the 4 level parking structure. There's the Diamond Lot that sits above the main lot, then there's the VIP parking level in the structure too. But even that's fine with me. What I especially don't like is while playing, the "Party People" come out in parade fashion bumping loud music and with like 5 people "whoo-hooing" and making a big deal out of surprising a VIP card holder with games, prizes, and money. It used to be awesome hearing all the commotion, cuz everyone had the possibility of getting lucky. Now, it's more so uncomfortable and kind of discouraging, like a slap in the face! Some may even say this is discrimination, and I could not argue the claim. Ok, now, all that aside.. it's still one of my favorite casino's to visit! They may not remember you but they still do exhibit kindness, knowledge or who knows what they don't, and professionalism. Actually customer service shines as it has always. Rant over, check it out for yourself! They have a huge koi pond and even a wedding chapel on site. It's been a while since being in a room but I'm sure they're still nice. Idk if they still offer golfing but when they did, that was fun and quite an experience! Good luck!

Returned to the Resort and Casino a week ago and my host checked on us and provided excellent service, their food in the Steak house and Cafe is amazing. The room view was great. People were winning and the clean air and environment is great. Cameron is my host and he is amazing highly recommend him.

For several years now and then we have gone to Barona for a nice night out: some gambling, dinner and a delicious bakery or ice cream treat. We like the nonsmoking policy. Since COVID the price of food and coffee increased a lot, the table bets went up sky high and the slots are tighter. Because of that if we want to have a night out at a casino we more often drive to Viejas where we get more for our money and have a great time (the 4th of July fireworks there were great!).

Very friendly place. You are greeted from the time you enter until you leave. Very clean place! They are accommodating and their restaurants are good and prices are great. If you are going to eat here. Sage cafe has around a 45 min wait. We put our names down and came back. Nice menu. They do need more waitstaff. Definitely recommend.

Had a great time. A snack at Ho Wan in the food court, found a slot that was friendly, and a late lunch ( had fried chicken and wife had salmon...both were very good ) at the cafe overlooking the lake and golf course. Reasonable prices, tasty food, and even won a little on the slots. We had a fun day and will do it again soon.

The hotel was exceptionally nice. I was invited by a friend and we stayed there for one night. The room and bathroom were so large, that I had to ask if it was a handicap room. They had nice toiletries: lemongrass and aloe soap (smelled wonderful), mouthwash, shampoo and conditioner. The bed was very comfortable with lots of great pillows. The view was beautiful. We had a view of the surrounding mountains and golf course. I don't know the cost but it was very nice! They even had a chapel and I believe an event center. Would love to visit again.

The cleanest casino I've ever been in. The air is fresh and the atmosphere is very pleasant. Although we didn't win much at least the slots allows you to enjoy playing for hours. ATM's are free. The food court was amazing. We absolutely loved our time there.

Love how clean the casino and the air quality is. Finally a casino that i don't come out smelling like an ashtray. The staff is super friendly and they have the best slots. Will definitely come back.

Only visited here to gamble a bit but WOW, no smoking here! Plenty of close parking. The employees wave and greet you when you enter. The spacing of the rows between gaming machines is very wide. This will be our "go to" casino from now on! Takes a bit longer to get here but well worth the scenic drive. Photography is not allowed (standard) so no photos but everything is clean, like new and beautiful.

One of the tightest slots you will ever play!! Machines are money-pits!! Line wins are few and far betwee and the rare times you get a bonus round, the pay out is disgustingly pathetic! Cut up my card for this place. Will definitely try out other casinos rather than this one. Good riddance!

I love going to Barona! Such great customer service and awesome host! Great food too. I love that it's they did not bring back smoking inside the casino floor but have designated area for people to smoke.

I cannot say enough good things about this place and the staff. I was treated like I owned the place. The room was large and comfy. Step in shower AND a tub. Housekeeping was very accommodating. Everyone was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The casino was clean and had a large selection of food places. Very reasonable food prices! I was so impressed with every interaction I had with staff. They truly made me feel welcomed and that they were happy to help me with any request. A real gem!!

By far the best casino! Clean because it’s non smoking. Excellent cleaning service. Everything is always immaculate. The machines and restrooms. Service is also by far the best. You’re greeted before you walk in and after you enter. Drink service is always easy to find. They walked around with full service drink carts. You don’t have to order and wait for a drink. Although no alcohol served on the floor. Cashiers also walk around to cash tickets or get change. My favorite casino to visit.

I needed a small fridge for extra food and staff were able to bring one up to the room within the hour. Really is one of the cleanest hotels I've stayed in. Hand sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer dispensers were available at every elevator and vending machine area. They are a mostly smokeless casino, which was amazing.

Besides the fact that they give the least amount of free play to regulars, or to me I should say, who is a regular, they really do have the cleanest casino of them all. Good variety of slots, and table games, I’ve won several large jackpots here, and the staff is pretty great. Also have the best food court out of all the sd. Definitely worth the drive

All the staff were so nice especially the staff at SAGE resto I forgot my glasses and one of the staff serving drinks returned my glasses to me and even looked for me around the casino. Also Robin at the entrance and Robin from Sage were friendly and helpful. Kudos. Most important the smoke free environment made our playing more fun and enjoyable. Our seniors from Torrey Pines Senior Living will definitely go back again next month.

I was there 3 days ago celebrated my birthdays I was played the machines over $700 and I haven’t got any free spins on the games. I would never go the against or recommend to my family members or friends. Bad Casino and claims it’s a loose slot’s machines. It’s all a lies.
