Horrible. This fake resort village keeps cruise guests on a long, winding, hot journey just to get out of the port area. We tried, halfway through to walk out a side gate but they yelled at us and we had to go the long way all the way out and back in. It added at least 30 minutes to our already hot walk. I felt like a prisoner. It's full of expensive bars/restaurants, a pool, loud music, $25 burritos and $14 daiquiris. It looks nice, as far as that goes, but if spending the day there is your idea of 'being in the Dominican Republic', you've missed the point. The greed is palpable and the whole thing is gross.

This port is awesome! If you are having your cruise heading there keep in mind the following: the port is like a resort , you have a swimming pool with free sunbeds, you have shops, you have cafes and bars. Actually you don't need to go out! If you want to go to the city keep in mind it's 10 minutes walking distance. Don't get the taxis outside! You don't need them. Just walk left of the port and follow the people. Police is everywhere, it is safe. The town is beautiful, must see!

One of the best ports I have seen so far. They have a free resort style pool and lazy river, just bring your own towels. Clean duty free shops, mini attractions and several bird stands with beautiful parrots along the corridor. They have a swim up bar and various food stations. You could spend your entire day here and be satisfied. All of this is before you even hit the transportation area heading into town.

Really nice cruise port, it was built for cruise tourists. You walk off and walk through duty free to get out and walk through several shops before exiting the port terminal. Very beautiful, parrots in the trees, and a beautiful pool and sandy "beach" butt no access to water area with chairs. Pool is very comfortable, you can walk through the whole pool.

We had a great time in the fresh water pool. The drinks were good and the DJ kept the beats going. Also, local dancers performed. We were able to buy souvenirs too. The resort is still being built--we'll be back eventually to see it finished.

Newest cruise port in Puerto Plata, so still under development. Attractive outdoor area with landscaped garden paths. Several different parrots were on perches for your enjoyment. Beach and resort pool I didn't visit but, looked like a convenient place to visit. Yes, totally set up for cruise ship visitors. All in all a nice cruise port.

This is probably one of the best and unique cruise ports we've been to. As you exit the cruise ship you walk through the duty free shop and then through rows of newly built shops. They have a free resort style pool and lazy river, just bring your own towels. They have a swim up bar and the entire area has a few different food options and bars. Get free samples of rum, etc in the duty free shop before you venture out and buy something. Everyone was friendly and we didn't really get the normal "buy, buy, buy" pressure like a lot of ports. You could spend your entire day here and be satisfied. All of this is before you even hit the transportation area heading into town. Very impressive. Only downside is they are clearly trying to keep everyone's money in that area and not for the local businesses outside of the Bay.

I absolutely love this spot! Brand new, heard they just opened in February 2023. Beautifully built. Has everything to keep u entertained while at this port location. Shopping for souvenirs, restaurants, bars, music, pool and the lazy river was so lovely!

Taino bay is a very touristy set up for people who are getting off cruise ships. It is a beautiful setup with nice shopping, bars and various other stores. HOWEVER, if you leave the resort be prepared for a culture shock. The areas around are not kept up well. There is trash everywhere. The beaches are depressing to see.

Was one of the ports we visited with Celebrity. Best Port I've been to in a while. Newly upgraded. Everything was free. Went to beach in Puerto Plata, wished I would've stayed at the port. A lot to do. Lazy river, pool, shops. Beautiful.

WOW! This Cruise Port is an exceptional stop on a Caribbean cruise, offering a delightful mix of activities, shopping, and dining. The duty-free shopping is a highlight, with an array of stores offering everything from local crafts to high-end products, all at great prices. The dining experience here is equally impressive, featuring a range of restaurants that cater to all tastes. The leisure activities are what set Taino Bay apart. The pool area, buzzing with music from a lively DJ, is the perfect spot to soak up the sun. For a more relaxing experience, the lazy river offers a serene float, surrounded by picturesque views. Hammocks strung over the water provide a unique and peaceful retreat, ideal for enjoying the gentle sea breeze. Wildlife enthusiasts will love the parrot displays and the interactive experiences at Monkey Island, which are not only entertaining but educational. In conclusion, Taino Bay Cruise Port is a comprehensive destination that brilliantly combines shopping, dining, relaxation, and wildlife interaction. It's an unforgettable stop on any Caribbean cruise, and I highly recommend it for a fulfilling and enjoyable experience.

Quite a luxury here for guests of cruise ships in port... a secured, guest only, MASSIVE outdoor shopping center (note if you leave Taino Bay and head into town or wherever, you must have your ship's card to re-enter), that houses a multitude of shops, a lazy river, music with an outdoor dance floor, and merchants in front of their shops, dancing and beckoning you to patronize their establishments... ever see one of those places where fish eat bacteria off your feet? one of those here as well!

Beautiful! The most excellant cruise port I have seen yet. Lazy river, pools, shops and clean bathrooms. Royal Carribean outdid themselves on this one. Safe and secure as always. Well done RC!

Beautiful Welcome area, nice shops, restaurants, and bars. But when you leave this area, Poverty will hit you. You should take a guided tour or taxi. Prices are ok, but take a bottle of water with you:-)

Beautiful newly developed Cruise port in Puerta Plata Dominican Republic, that offers a safe way for cruise passengers to enjoy a piece of the beauty that this carribean island has to share. There are shops, a free pool area, beautiful landscaping all in walking distance for the cruise ship's gangway. No hassling or competition of sales from locals who have previously made it intimidating for many. If you decide to venture out of the very secured area, you are capable to and the local government has it set up with posted multilingual officers, who will take a moment to advice the "safe" areas, assist with busy traffic intersections etc. The Dominican Republic has a lot of beauty and just like anywhere else, friendly people willing to share their culture. These steps taken to help make tourism a positive experience will most definitely provide a much needed economic boost to this country in the long run.

Loved our stop at Taino Bay! Shops are colorful, neat, and organized. Shopkeepers we're friendly and helpful, but not pushy. Prices were reasonable. Great fajitas and margaritas at the pool restaurant. Bathrooms were big and clean. We spent almost all day at the pool (freè!) Only criticisms there...not a lot of chairs, not a lot of shade, and very loud music. We arrived early and had chairs and shade. Oh, they had a great dance show by the pool and live performes did a few songs. Can't wait to go back!

Was not expecting this in Puerto Plata! Restaurants, shops, pool and beach, and they're expanding! Plan to spend some time here after your shore excursion, or skip the excursion and spend the whole day.

Beautiful cruise port that has everything you need to buy and relax if you didn’t want to go out into town but luckily I got to enjoy the town and port all in one day! It’s one of the better ports on any of the islands!

Amazing place. I never saw some like this once it is public place. This place is inside of Port of Puerto Plata in Dominican Republic. Only cruisers passengers can have access on it. There is 2 or 3 restaurants and 3 bars. A lot of shopping’s and coffee bar.

Lots of shops and the shop keepers were very friendly. I didn't stay long as I had a jungle buggy tour to attend. However, upon we were advised, the bathrooms had no water for use or to wash your gabds; so we wait to use the restrooms onboard Virgin Voyages. Language barrier makes it hard for some locals to understand you and you to understand the locals. My Español could use some work and practice. With choppy conversations, I was able to maintain a minimal understandable exchange to complete my transactions. Note to self: go home and really study and practice Spanish, for real. This trip. . .I was able to get White Hennessey for $72/bottle or three for $195. It's much better than initially paying in the Bahamas *runs around $80/bottle).

It was nice. So many shops, fresh water pool and lazy river. if you drink alcohol, it is fairly price. Recommend to bring you own water. Bottles were expensive.

Can't go wrong with this gem of a port in Republica Dominicana! This was one of the stops on my cruise, and it did not disappoint. Aside from a cool intro celebration, there are plenty of things to do on port with all the duty free shops, restaurants and attractions. Extremely welcoming, colors that pop, this is what you expect when you see the Caribbean.

Thoroughly impressed with this port! Since being here last year they've completed phase 2 and are on track for phase 3 to be completed this year. Beautifully done and we just stayed in the port area as their was plenty to do.

The Cigar Roll Excursion was awesome, learned a lot more about how to roll and information about the tobacco and its aging process but overall the Cigar Roll Excursion was phenomenal and highly recommended. We went to three different cigar manufacturing shops and all three of them were awesome

I am so glad the MSC Seashore docked here instead of out of the way Amber Cove. The historic center of Puerto Plata is a short walk away. There are many shops and restaurants inside the port area to choose from.
