Do not book here! This place is an absolute dump. We just needed a quick place for the night and thought this place would do, but when we checked in the first room we were given had not been cleaned. Bed dirty and unmade dirty used towels, a garbage bag left in the room with needles in it and dried vomit on the floor. When we went to complain to the receptionist, she didn't believe us and had to go check for her self. She had us set up in another room that was equally if not more dirty. The bed was a disaster, there was booze and food every where. When we went down to complain again, she offered us a third room which we absolutely declined. We had already paid in full. When we asked for a refund we were denied one, but walked away anyways. Do yourself the favour and avoid this place like the plague

Probably the worst experience I have ever had in my carrier. I am working in the hospitality business but this hotel is outrageous! Really don't know how they are still in business.... (money laundry..?) The worst district in SF. Just next door there is a homeless centre or shelter or something like that. No matter what time of the day the street is always covered with homeless, junkies and the strangest creatures these days. It is not the hotels fault but for that amount of money this is horrible! Do mot be cheap! Spend some more and get a better hotel! Believe me every hotel is better than this! Few years ago I was in SF in a Youth Hostel even that was safer, better, cleaner! There is a girl daytime who is kind a nice and OK but not really helpful. Clearly visible that she would love to be somewhere else. She is Indian (I think) and the hotel is a family business. (I think) The night receptionist an old Indian gent and a lady can't even speak English so whatever you need to deal with do it on the weekdays during daytime otherwise you won't get any answer and solution! The rooms are horrible! Must everywhere! The beds are used for ages and every move make terrible sounds! Shared bathrooms and toilets! 1 morning I opened the toilet door accidentally to a junkie who was just injecting himself with something.... The worst experience of my whole professional carrier! (almost 20 years!) F@#k you Desmond!

This place is absolutely disgusting. There's food and trash all over the inside of the building. We were going to look past this, as we are by no means fancy people. But when we got to the room, there were stains all over the sheets and the room was really gross. We tried to go to the front desk, but no one was there. So we left and got another hotel. Both this hotel and Priceline refused to refund me my money. So I lost $250 plus the additional cost of a last minute hotel. Don't do it.

This is a 2 part nightmare. Part1: What a dump this place is in and Part2: How they refuse to give refund. Part 1: I was told by a friend that this is a BAD neighbourhood in SF, called tenderloins and that I should find a different place to stay. Upon driving around there on the day of, that is very true. Drug addicts, gang affiliates and hobo every where. Place smells like human wastage. Disgusting. Part 2: According to my booking policy, I get charged for only one night for no show. But they charged full amount any ways and they are unwilling to return the money. The travel agency is kind enough to recover half the cost. Guys, just get a better place or commute from Berkeley or something. Especially if you're a lone traveller.

I stay here every time I visit. As a man I don't mind the shared bathrooms. Honestly there is a sink in the room so its fairly simple if I just wanna go #1. Easy access to BART and shopping. When I get there I usually order Safeway food delivery as the rooms have mini-fridge and microwave for those late night snacks. You cant beat the price. Oh try the breakfast place on the corner of 6th. and Market St.

The quality of this hotel is awful and I discourage anyone from staying here. We felt very unsafe as we drove up to the hotel, there was an overpopulation of homeless using IV drugs outside of the hotel. We did not bother going in due to its presentation. Called the office to cancel our reservation, staff was extremely rude, and hung up on us several times without cancelling our stay. Hotwire staff was awesome and was able to help us with this problem. I highly recommend staying away from this hotel.

I only stayed one night so thankfully I could pass on the showers but this is really a "you get what you pay for" experience. The room is small and the washrooms and showers are shared. The washroom on my floor was dingy and smelled like mold. At night it's really noisy and there was a lady yelling for hours outside. The location is close to everything BUT IN A BAD NEIGHBORHOOD. Be very mindful of the location. The taxi driver was concerned for my safety and waited until I was inside. Lots of homeless and shady individuals.

Horrible experience. A lot of homeless and drunk people on the street, it didn’t seem very safe. The elevator sucks: old system, durty, you can’t call it from the ground floor (that’s where you arrive to the hotel, so you must step up 25 steps with the luggage to reach the reception!). Bathrooms are shared. I could hear the neighbors having sex. The carpet on the floor is terrible, it makes it harry to carry roll-on luggage than on the street! Wifi was internetless most part of the time. Staff was not good. Too high prices for what it offers. Only good thing: close to center and "reasonable" price.

Surprisingly friendly staff for 6th St. Fairly clean as far as I could tell from lobby halls and my room.

An adequate budget motel, in a sketchy neighborhood. It suited my need for an inexpensive hotel while working an event downtown. The facilities were clean, and I was satisfied with my stay.

The place is basic, but clean. The staff is correct, not too friendly, not too rude. Indeed, the interaction with them is minimal. The location is very central, but the street and surroundings of the hotel are quite dirty, and full of homeless people. I guess this is as much as you can get for this price in SF. The place is ok for young people that only want a place to sleep, and will spend the day outside. I wouldn't go with kids.
