This was one of the most disgusting places I have ever seen. What the owners are doing to their guests should be illegal due to the lies that are portrayed online. The second we saw our room we got out of there. The beds looked like they had bed bugs and the outside was too sketchy to leave the car by itself for a while. Not to mention the area is filled with homeless to the point where you don’t even feel safe walking around. I hope no one ever decides to stay here because we drove around and found much cleaner and better motels for a similar price in better areas.

Terrible experience and no didn’t even stay their. I rented a room through Agoda and as I arrived for a late check-in, around 8pm. I was not able to access into the building until a guest let men in as they were existing out. Climbed up the stairs to the office only for it to be closed. There was a note that said office is closed by 10pm. It was still very early. Multiple guests said the manager lived in room 101 but knocked multiple times myself and so did other tenants to notice them but nothing. I had to rebook somewhere else and caused me to spend more money. The Agoda rep couldn’t contact them either and still no news of a refund. Also, someone was trying to break into the building when I was arriving. Had a knife and everting and the door seemed to have been recently broken as it was boarded up .

My best friend and I booked a room here looking for budget options while we attend the local conference. We had booked a room that was supposed to have a bunk bed, we were given a room with a double bed, the photos are incredibly deceptive, the gold trim is spray painted plaster and only lasts until the lobby area, if you can call it that: Pipers were sticking out of the walls, all the windows were wide open for any vagrant to sneak in and there's no security. Management told us they could switch us to a new room basically a day before we left. Night one we found a roach in the closet, Morning three a roach in the bed, I have bedbug bites as well on my arms. The room had graffiti all over it: Mirrors, doors, and walls. There was no visible kitchen to speak of, and the shared bathrooms were a trainwreck. There were people out in the hall shouting consistently throughout the night and slamming doors. Management themselves were hardly around and ineffectual at best. All for over $100/night. This was not worth it at all, if you're down on your luck and need a place for the night there are many better and cheaper options.

One of the cheapest hotels in the city by far. Old, and the minimal of everything. But pretty clean and safe. Bring your own soap, shampoo, etc because they don't supply anything like that. Infact, bring your own towel and toilet paper - the shared bathrooms did not have any for the whole time I was there = two nights.

If I could give it 0 stars I would. This place catfished me so badly. The pictures are not at all what they are providing for your stay. They pretend to clean the rooms but upon close inspection you can see that they obviously don't. I paid $150 to stay for 3 nights, and when I arrived they charged me a refundable $75 deposit. I walked into the room and walked back out. Decided to find somewhere else to stay. I thankfully received the $75 back but when I reached out to them with my complains I was met with silence. Don't stay here. It's also on a super sketchy street and the entrance isn't open so you have to wait outside until they open for you.

This is the WORST hotel that you can imagine. Didn’t even get to stay there just like a lot of people have said here. After paying through Booking.com, I went there and tried to open the door. It was locked and a janitor guy was inside so I told him to open the door, but then he said the rooms are full so you can’t stay, you’ve gotta find a replacement. But hey I booked a room. Apparently there isn’t a word “booking” in their dictionary. Don’t even think to stay here.

Pretty shabby and not at all what the pictures promised. After booking a room with a private shower, we got confirmation that the room was booked but it was with a shared toilet. Luckily the rooms was private and we got a private bath and toilet. (Somehow?) The rooms were super tiny and for the price we paid for a week, we could have stayed at the Hilton down the street almost. I also had to cancel my credit card as I was being charged for things I clearly didn't order/do. Like a taxi ride two weeks prior to visiting the US and a order at Home depot a week after I left. Only thing was that once we settled in, the rooms worked okay and the plus is that it's close to the city/Square. But would not recommend it unless you are on a budget. Also Tenderloin is rough so walk in pairs.

My experience was not so bad considering the price I paid for a 2 night stay. I stayed the night to run the San Francisco Marathon and it was relatively close to the starting line. The room I stayed in was acceptable because all I was really looking for was a place to sleep. It had a bunk bed [I was staying by myself] but, I only used the bottom bunk, a small fridge, a sink, a microwave, a closet with no door handle and the metal hangers where all bent up, and a dresser with one drawer missing. the room doesn't have a trash can. there was a mickey mouse done to the door where they taped the metal slab to the wall, but I made sure that it securely locked itself. The floor had certain areas where it would creek if you stepped on it. The hotel has a shared bathroom [very modern; second floor] for the hall which I was okay with because, you know, college student. It has a gate in the front of the hotel that you can easily enter with a sensor chip the assistant gives you. The assistant was really helpful as he answered all the questions I had. Smelled like weed in certain areas of the hotel. Good WiFi. I guess coming from Los Angeles, this place wasn't as bad for me as it was for all the other people with negative reviews.

When looking for a hotel in one of the most expensive cities on the planet, when you choose to book at the cheapest hotel in town, so cheap it doesn't even require a security deposit, you are getting exactly what you are paying for. This hotel saw me through a very rough time in my life and I will always be exceptionally grateful to the owners and staff for the nights I spent there. That said, if you want a day spa and room service this isn't that. If you want a clean room, a safe environment, and on a budget, this is an excellent option.

This location was unbelievable filithy!! There were cockroaches in the room by the furnace, and climbing on the mini fridge , shared bathroom was disgusting and not clean , no locks on the bathroom door ! There’s no receptionist and you have to call multiple numbers to try and get a hold of the owner to allow you into the building and check in ! This place deserves zero stars and needs to have a health inspector investigate!!! Better off staying in another hotel or car for the night! You get what you pay for , I recommend not staying in this dirty place!!

As of October 11, 2020 the nightly rate for an average room at this hotel is surprisingly cheap. "Cheap" is a relative term, though...so, let's look at what makes them worthwhile. First off, "cheap" equals out to ≈$50/night for a standard QUEEN room. Standard queen rooms come with a queen sized mattress, a sink/countertop/fridge combo in one corner, a small (but also tall) closet and an equally small desk/chair in the corner opposite the sink. This seems like a lot to shove into a single rectangular room, but it doesn't feel claustrophobic whatsoever. Second, the average room price per night in the area (tenderknob/union square) will run you at least $75, usually closer to $80...and that's before factoring in the taxes and "resort fees" most large chain hotels nearby will level against your bill. Third, the entire property has been remodeled less than a year ago, and it shows. The paint is fresh, the (shared) bathrooms feel safe to be fully naked in and the appliances are devoid of the myriad stains/dents/completely broken uselessness that befalls so many hotels of the same price and style. Honestly, I only have a single gripe with the Sweden House Hotel, and it's really not even fair considering the location: ROACHES. San Francisco's Tenderloin District has historically been the home of the worst roach infestation I have seen or heard of, bar none. This property does not disappoint. I counted no less than 50 sightings in my time here (one measly night), and that's a big issue for me. My reservation was originally made for 4 nights, but after 6 hours of trying to get some R&R, I had to give up and check out. Roaches are my least favorite living things. No joke. Obviously, most people don't have the same lack of concern for their pockets that I do, and a little roach problem never actually hurt anyone (...right?). So I can't really fault the owners for a bunch of crawling critters that exist in the billions beneath every inch of the TL. That being said, if your budget is tight and you love nature...you just can't beat 50 bucks a night, man.

Please, even though the price per night is pretty cheap in this hotel if you compare it with other hotels/accommodations in SF, don't book your stay here. You have to put more effort in it than you should. We booked our stay over hotels.com for two people for two nights. It was pretty spontaneous, but that shouldn't be an issue usually. Before we booked our stay, we thought the pictures online were really pretty and we were expecting that the pictures were describing the actual rooms pretty accurate. Well, we were wrong. When we checked we were even told that there is a room just for one night available even though I had my confirmation for two nights and so I showed that. Well eventually they told us they gonna transfer us to a different and we don't have to take care of our luggage, they gonna transfer it. We spent there one night, cause the second night we were there right after check in time, but they told us the room is taken by someone else, so we got kicked out of the hotel and for a short time we had nowhere to stay. Even though they told us they transfer our luggage and give us a new key, nothing happened. We had to get our stuff from our former room and had to leave. It is ridiculous and until now (over a month later) we haven't gotten our refund back. Such a mess and a lot of work for us. It is really not worth it. There are other places that are cheaper and seriously cleaner
