The Gurkha Kitchen is a Himalayan/Nepalese restaurant. Lying between India and China, Nepalese cuisine borrows and improves upon the cuisine of both its neighbors. The food was very good! We got two kinds of dumplings, called "momo". One was vegetarian, spicy and hot, with excellent flavor="Veg C Momo" . The stuffing was Indian, and the sauce reminiscent of Szechuan. The other momo was called "chicken johl momo". It is stuffed with chicken in Indian spices and served in a broth. It was spicy, but not hot. Also, quite good. The third dish was "machha ko johl", a fish filet, deep-fried with a spicy curry sauce. The fourth was a "thali", a "plate" with a main dish of curried goat. (Tastes like lamb, but not as gamey.) It had several small side dishes-black lentil soup, a bamboo shoot soup, a stir-fried, then chilled, mustard-green salad, and steamed rice. It was an excellent meal. My only wish would be that the waiter ask how spicy/hot we wanted the food served. We would have liked for the dishes (except the 1st momo) to be more spicy.

I was excited to finally eat Nepalese food. The chicken choila set is served cold, and you get to taste the spicyness to balance put the cold. The rice and veggies on the side gave more depth in flavor and texture in each bite. Too bad the Nepalese beers weren't available, so I got the Indian beer and it was pretty good. My Nepalese friend got the chicken momo, which is his usual food. You know it's good when a local orders it! Go here when visiting Sunnyvale!

Was very upset with the food. Travelled a long distance to have its food after seeing a 4.6 rating. Apart from chilli chicken none of the food items were good. Buffalo momo was the 2nd best. We also tried mutton shop - oily and had a very raw mutton taste Mutton thali - daal, veg sabji were tasteless. Mutton curry was decent Chicken momo - the first lot was good, 2nd lot seemed like chicken was taken out of some other curry and cooked inside momo Buffalo momo - it was decent Chilli chicken: only item that was good

Authentic and delicious Nepalese food . My husband ordered the goat Thali and I ordered the chicken one . We shared samosas as appetizer and drank chai tea . For dessert we had gulab jamun. Love everything . Great service and relaxing ambiance . We’ll come back 😋. Thanks 🙏🏼 .

The Gurkha Kitchen, a well-known Nepali restaurant that has been titillating taste buds in California since 2019, is to add three more locations around the Golden State as part of a savory expansion of its culinary empire. This growth is evidence of the restaurant's enduring appeal to both Californians and Nepali expats traveling to the United States. The Gurkha Kitchen has built a solid reputation for serving up a real taste of Nepal, and its expansion should make this mouthwatering experience more accessible to foodies throughout the state. The Gurkha Kitchen's delectable Nepali cuisine, which features a special fusion of tastes and fragrant spices, has drawn diners in droves time and time again. The restaurant has brought a wide variety of Nepali delicacies to Californians, sparking a craze among culinary lovers, from traditional mo:mo dumplings to rich curries and aromatic rice dishes. More people will be able to enjoy the restaurant's trademark dishes and learn about the essence of Nepal's culinary tradition in three more locations. The Gurkha Kitchen has an impact beyond California since Nepali Americans from all over the country make it a point to stop by this restaurant whenever they are in the state. The Gurkha Kitchen wants to carry out its purpose of introducing a larger audience to the genuine tastes of Nepal and cultivating a greater appreciation for Nepali cuisine as it sets off on this exciting growth adventure.

Appetizers (dumplings) and main dishes were very good for the most part. One of the main downsides was the unneeded rush over and over to order lunch, then the rush to leave, while hardly anyone was dining at the time. Perhaps this is cultural, but it will dissuade some from returning.

Visited first time. Very authentic Nepalese food. Noodles and manchurian were excellent. Ordered veg thali also which was so authentic that every bite felt like a trip to mountains!!!! Fried momos tasted very good but the texture could be better. It was chewy and hard to cut.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ghurkha Kitchen in Sunnyvale and I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed! I ordered the vegetarian thali and va, and both dishes were bursting with authentic Nepali flavors. The thali had a great variety of dishes to try and the va was the perfect complement with its fluffy basmati rice and flavorful lentils. The service was also fantastic - our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and welcoming, making it the perfect place to enjoy a delicious meal. I highly recommend giving Ghurkha Kitchen a try if you're looking for authentic Nepali cuisine in Sunnyvale. The food and service were both exceptional, and I can't wait to go back and try more dishes!

I’m surprised why this restaurant is rated 4.6 on Google reviews because it’s maybe a 3-3.5. I got the vegetable momos, chicken thali and spring rolls. Spring rolls were fine and everything else was below average. This place is okay if you’re looking for a quick meal. But at this price point, there are so many other good restaurants.

The Nepali food options here are really good. They actually taste like Nepali food and not Indian. The place can get pretty busy during dinner.

This is a homey mom and pop shop. The food is AUTHENTIC! Momos are good! The fish is good! Get the combos/thalis! They are delicious and you can get more sides for free! Service was great! And offered more rice and water without us asking!!! Love this neighborhood place! Definitely worth a try!

The food was good, we made a request to make the veg munchurian with gravy and they did a good job. The quantity of chowmein was huge so think before ordering more. The veg momos were good as well.
