I give that fifth star if they start carrying a non alcoholic craft beer option for designated drivers to purchase without having to pick something that just spikes blood sugar. Same price as beer. Id have gone to the bar 3 or 4 times tipping each time for each over 5 dollar no booze hops flavor. I miss the taste. Drinking real booze will kill me. Organ failure. So... Terrible experience. My friend and I fully got groped at this piece of garbage place, took it all the way up to the owner, and absolutely nothing was done. Super sexist staff, nobody responded or cared about what happened to us. Left right after a confrontation with the grotesque owner named Vlad or something and will not be coming back.

Fun quirky bar with fun drinks. It’s kinda a crossroads between the gay bars and the rest. Small but fun intimate place. Drinks are pretty good too 🍹

Cool spot to go dance on a Saturday night. The DJ was awesome and there are plenty of drink options, including jello shots. I was told they have popcorn there but I didn't get to try it out. Would definitely go back!

Always a good time here.. amazing drink, the best servers, jello shots food and full parklet. There is a cover on the weekends but 5$ for a club isn't bad. Fully themed, huge bar.. really fun anytime

Expect a slight cover charge, sweet drinks, a thick crowd of early 20 year olds and sticky floors - but it’s fun if you’re with a good group of lively people that like to dance! There’s a few other bars/clubs on the same street so if this isn’t your scene you have options. Would give it a try at least once if you’re looking for something with a college vibe.

It’s damn packed and super busy but love the vibe here. Great if you just want to dance to good music. They have a cover though.

This is the best of San Francisco! Open since 1999, there's no better place if you want a strong drink, a super fun (rowdy) atmosphere, and the best comfort food menu (think tater tots, Mac n cheese, deep fried Twinkies) in town! Pro tip: Order your drink from Jay - you won't be disappointed!

My first time there... And according to my BF. I got "buttered" Love the decor and wanted to try all their drinks. J is incredibly easy going and energetic and took good care of us. Couldn't ask for a nicer guy to take care of us.

So much fun to be had. I'm the kind of person that likes to get there early and leave when it gets too crowded, they definitely started piling in around 10. The bartenders were super friendly, the drinks were fun, the food was super fun.

A lot of people got their phone/wallets/id stolen at the same time and the security did absolutely NOTHING. We had to call the police ourselves and nothing has been done by the security or whatsoever. The only answer we got was to call the police ourselves. Definitely a very sketchy place, please please please avoid!

Had horrible experience here today, my friends phone got stolen, and as we go to talk to security we learn 7 other people also had their phones and wallets stolen in the bar! Lack of empathy from the security was absolutely frustrating, we had to call police ourselves and the establishment did absolutely nothing to help us.

Been in San Francisco for a couple of days, this is by far the best bar I tried! Great drinks, music, bartenders, people. Had to pay a 5$ entry fee but it was 100% worth it. 5/5 will come back the next time I’m in San Francisco.

Butter is a disco with greatest vibe at San Francisco because the staff is the best and line-up DJ’s selection always brings very hot beats!! We love the vibe; the music; the staff friends and the mozzarella sticks also !! We recommend this place for all (10pm/2am).

Nice atmosphere! All night long, song mashups were played, which was entertaining and a fantastic topic of conversation. Although I find it to be a plus that they frequently have dogs at the place, I thought I should mention that in case other people don't like that (lol idk why you would mind though) Later in the evening, the kitchen opens and you can purchase snacks, which are typically heated frozen dishes with cheese on them. This is a good option for inebriated folks but unimaginative if you're just seeking for food here. Overall, 5 stars for the lively environment and incredibly gracious bartender who served adequate house beverages.

Butter is a really fun bar! Their drinks are good and the bartenders are friendly, plus they were playing a great playlist of 2000's music when I visited. I didn't try the food but they have some fun dishes to try out too.

First time going there and it was fun! The dj was playing great music and everyone was good vibes. I would recommend this to anyone looking to have a chill night of dancing and singing! Although one of their toilets was clogged.

Butter definitely has its own unique flavor and ambience.If you like quiet places this is not for you, between the crowd and the music you can forget any conversation bar monosynatically yelling for drinks.

One of the last good spots in the city. They play better music than anybody else, still not as good as what you get in other cities but if you’re in SF this is some of the best you can get

This is a great place to grab a drink and dance. The vibes are awesome and they have two projector screens playing old movies/funny videos.
