Vegetarian biscuits and gravy were banging! Friends got the Eggs Benny and Garbage Bread and they loved it. Service was great as well. Chill, hip place. I'll definitely be back.

Went here on a Thursday afternoon for the 1st time after looking at all the reviews and this place was amazing. The Staff so welcoming and pleasant. David my waiter was soo great! Very cool restaurant with plenty of vegetarian options. The place may not look appealing from outside, but it's great inside with pleasant atmosphere, excellent people, and fantastic service. Food is really great with generous portions making it easy to order alacarte and share among a family. The dishes have sweetness to them in all that we tried, so had to spice them up a bit with crushed red pepper flakes. The nice lake next door makes it a great place to take a stroll right after eating. The irresponsible pet owners may ruin the stroll for you which is not on the restaurant, but I digress.

Came for happy hour. Website says it goes until 6, but it ends at 5... So that was a bummer. Great patio but it was real windy when we were there... Pickle plate was disappointing but the garbage bread is a must. SO good.

Food quality is excellent. Staff are pleasant with a warm welcome. Cozy and comfortable environment. Great for hanging out with friends and family. It's a kid's friendly restaurant.

This place was recommended by a friend and I now owe that friend a thank you. Nestled in the corner of the street you will find this awesome bar&grill for brunch. Customer service 8/10 : solid vibe, professional and the bartender really keeps an eye on the patrons. Shy of me having to call out for the check I was very impressed with their service. Food 9/10: my God I got the challah French toast and I think my taste buds died and went to heaven. Hands down top 5 best French toast breakfasts I've ever had. Light enough to leave room for more and not feel bloated with some fresh fruit around the dish to compliment the doughy taste of the French toast. Alcohol -- I did not try the bar personally but they do have a decent drink selection. Try it out yourself! Price 7/10 -- Overall, I dropped about 20-30 bucks on the meal + tip. Making it alittle more expensive than your casual breakfast joint (for one person) but I feel that the money spent was definitely worth it on the main dishes. Reason I rated this a 7 is cause 4 strips of bacon was 5 bucks.. OOF. (It was delightful though) Overall rating 5/5 stars, I would love to come back on my next visit to Oakland to try more of their menu

I ordered the garbage bread 3 times in the last 2 weeks (I live across the street and decided to no longer pay for food deliveries). While the food is consistently delicious, they no longer serve marinara and pesto as described on the menu which is pretty disappointing considering how delicious the pesto once was. It's now marinara only

This place is great! The food, service, and atmosphere were all on point. We ate outside on the back porch and it really made for a pleasant meal. 👌🏾👌🏾

Came with a large group and had the garlic fries, mimosas, corn beef hash, French toast, and chicken and waffles and I was honestly impressed that everything tasted really good for how busy the restaurant is. I particularly enjoyed the corn beef hash (I added some jalapeños) and would come back again. The ambiance outside was nice, the service was pretty good, and food didn’t take too long to come out.

Everything was absolutely scrumptious! We shared chilaquiles, a salad, and french toast. The french toast were to die for! The service was amazing. Our server was very attentive. The ambiance was calm, and the view was perfect! We had an amazing time, and we can not wait to be back soon.

Best fries I’ve had in Oakland. Everyone keeps talking about their brunch, which is just fine, but I’d rather come on a slower afternoon to sit on the patio with a heaping basket of fries & a beer. Not that I have anything against their brunch, but it’s first come first serve so it gets really busy, and the food is good but just didn’t live up to the hype. The service is always 10/10 though! They rotate their tap menu with lots of local & domestic brews, including some gluten free & kombucha, and the patio vibes are really nice especially if you’re facing the lake. The happy hour is pretty early from 3-5pm but they also have a good deal for tacos on Tuesdays.

Heated, dog-friendly patio, welcoming staff and wide ranging menu that is yet to disappoint. No full bar, but they get creative to give you a well rounded drink menu as well. Cowboys breakfast was my favorite so far. Decent chicken and waffles too!

This specific dish was overrated. It looks nice but the taste was nothing special. Also the service is terrible. My waiter neglected me! Bad staff! I would skip this place . The ambience, aesthetic & vibe is nice though.

Burger: An over cooked mediocre burger definitely not worth $20. Ordered medium rare, got it well done. It was $23 total. Drowned in sauce and nothing else really on it. Arugula was no where to be seen. Would never order again. Not the worst I’ve had, but tasted like a $20 fast food burger.

OH MY GOD. 10/10 recommend! In town for a friends wedding and decided to try a new restaurant as it’s my first time in the city. My wife, friends and I all had a perfect experience at Portal. Upon walking in we were immediately greeted by Melvin. Big smile, kind heart, and an all around gentleman, he gave the Portal that comfortable feeling that a good pub should. We were welcomed like family! This culinary experience is a masterpiece and will definitely be on our radar in the future. Clean tables, chairs, plates, and silverware! All food was cooked to specifications with no complaints from us! We enjoyed the Bison Burger, Stromboli, Sliders, salad, local craft drinks, and Garlic Fries, and NOTHING disappointed! Very fun menu with a lot of personal character to it that just makes something as simple as reading the menu a very memorable experience. Thank you Melvin and Portal. We hope to return again soon!

Service was friendly and attentive but my chimichurri steak was chewy and had nothing to do with chimichurri. Chicken sausage was tasty 😋

I just had a couple of beers and chips, the place looks great, I really liked it, the selection of beers is good and the staff is very friendly. Good experience. I recommend this place.

This place has a pretty chill vibe. We sat inside, it can get rather loud and busy. We started with the garbage bread, I can see why it's a local favorite. The lady had the cowboy and I had the steak and eggs. Both were delicious. We sat by the door where food was coming out and everything looked so good. The waiter was very accommodating and friendly as well. Definitely worth another trip. Would like to check out the patio area.
