It's a very beautiful place to spend some quality time. You will find the entire garden filled with varieties of roses, although less in the summer. It is a very calm place located at the North side of UC Berkeley. You will also find the tennis court close to it. After spending some time here, you will definitely feel peaceful from inside. Strongly recommended.

Nice neighborhood destination north of the UC campus. No cost to enter, and accesible parking on Euclid. Has the feeling of the Berkeley of the past.

A really nice place to relax. Tons of different breeds of roses. Overall the garden itself isn't that big, but it's still a lovely place to take a walk or sit down and have a chat with a friend. There's also a great view of the bay from where the picnic tables are.

A beautiful spot to visit during early July. Some roses no longer existed by their plaques while some were unnamed. Fortunately, I was able take photos of some spectacular ephemeral blooms. A 30 minute slow walk down the rows of roses was all it took. Slightly unkept, and I suspect that it might be from crowds of people that visit.

A huge, gorgeous garden with more varieties of roses than I knew existed. It smells like heaven. I could spend days there exploring the roses and smelling them all.

Worth visiting while you are around California University, Berkeley. Could be maintained better. Plants could be trimmed and spent flowers dead headed . People bring pets even though there are board pets not allowed . They even bring food to eat and leave a mess around.

When the roses are in bloom, I have no idea where you’d go to find a better selection of roses. There are literally dozens of different varieties spread out over multiple terraces. From the top of the garden you also have a view of the bay and San Francisco. Definitely recommend a visit.

A gorgeous garden in the heart of Berkeley. As soon as you enter the garden, you are surrounded by hundreds of roses. Each rose bush section has unique colors which makes you feel like you are in a fantasy. The theater-like design allows for a perfect view of the entire garden.

I love the Berkeley rose garden! My son graduated from Berkeley 10 years ago and brought us there for the first time when we visited him in college. We have to go every time we are in the area. It's a nice respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is well kept and so peaceful. I just love stopping by after a long day of playing tourist in San Francisco.

Beautiful spot in the middle of a lovely area with some incredible views. The garden is fun for a kid to roam, as the paths are almost like a little maze.

What a fantastic spot to visit! Beautiful terraced plant beds chock full of roses. Really appreciated all of the signs denoting the types and loved that multiples of each type we're planted together. Such an impact! Also liked how the colors in the amphitheater part looked like they transitioned from dark to light from the top down and in from the sides. Stunning! Also liked the winding trails, but wish they didn't lead to locked gates. But that just gave us more time to visit. Spectacular!

Very nice, and free, rose garden especially in the late spring. You could smell the roses when arriving there. It is relatively small but the view and the garden are worth the trip.

Nice place to stroll. Although it’s quite a hike from Downtown Berkeley, it’s still bartable. My visit in February turned out not too perfect since it’s winter time and the roses seemed to be only hibernating (?). There’s no flower to see and barely any leaves too. Still a nice community garden, though.

Fantastic drive to reach beautiful views. The garden itself is amazing with its diverse rose bushes and other plants. There are certainly better times of the year to catch the best views or see the blooms so be sure to check if you want to catch something in particular. On the days we visited in July, neither were fantastic, but it was a bright day and the gardens many paths and bridges made for great photos. Afterwards, we went thru the tunnel to visit the park across the street. Here again, the concrete slide and small playground entertained us before a short hike through the woods. We did find an open air bathroom (i.e. no door) in the park, which was nothing to write home about, but still relatively clean, functional and stocked. There is a toddler play area, basketball courts, and a soccer pitch that appeared in good shape and all saw use the entire time we visited. Great park to take a picnic.

Beautiful rose garden. Free to enter. There's also a playground across the street as well which you can go to thru a tunnel below the road.

In bloom & looking beautiful! Some of these roses were bigger than my open hand! They have so many different colors & types! They even had the rainbow sorbet & sugar moon roses! Hurry before the petals fall!

Any time of year, the blooms are beautiful. In December, they were lovely but not as brilliant as the spring.

It's a good place to hang out that's close to a park, too. It's easy to park by the curbside. Beautiful place to see the view as well.

Very cute place. Entrance gate overlooks the bay and you can see the bridge. You go in and there is an amphitheater of roses with a small water feature at the bottom. One “side” of the garden has some courts for tennis/badminton (not sure) that are first come first serve. The other side has dirt paths and trees with a wooden bridge. Entry is free, but i’m not sure about parking. The bus runs right by, though. Also, there are so many insects!!

Facing the sunset on a terraced hillside, this rose garden is a romantic place to watch sunset and bay view. With thousands roses around, you can also enjoy a moment sitting on the lovers benches, wandering along the pergola arc once it's completed, or stopped on the short wooden bridge. You can also see the golden light sheering through a tree house just above the fences of the park at sunset hours. Snack tables are present. They are also used for group discussion and study. Public restroom in the garden is in disguise rounded with flower wines. The garden has easy access with street parking. There is a tunnel for you to reach to the tennis courts.

We went in the month of January, hardly there were 2 roses. Maybe during summer there would be many flowers. Overall it's a wonderful place to sit and chat, enjoy the climate and enjoy the scenic nature.

It's a beautiful place to visit - and I would probably suggest looking for peak season to visit if possible. There weren't roses in every bush but there were still many roses in bloom when I had visited. A lot of roses that had their unique smell so give them a sniff if you like floral scents! There are many bees polluting.
