Gorgeous hotel! We were so blessed to stay here over the holidays. The decor was so beautiful. We had a tower room on the 23rd floor and the views were beyond amazing. The breakfast from the restaurant was also quite tasty. Big 5 stars from me. I really enjoyed staying here and would do so again next time I'm in SF.

The Fairmont has such a classy, upscale vibe even before walking into the doors. They have beautiful holiday decorations around Christmas time, including a huge gingerbread house! You can walk through it, take nice holiday pics, and even smell the gingerbread! Just don't eat it. We also ate at the Laurel Court Restaurant inside, and the food was amazing. Overall great, chill, warm atmosphere!

Loved the experience here. Probably the nicest gym facility I've seen in a hotel. Wonderful staff, clean rooms and large rooms. The history here is also very interesting. Book a reservation at the Tonga bar if you stay! It's always reserved

Service was great. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. However, room looked warn, elevator buttons didn't work and television was small. I'm writing this review from a Holiday Inn Express with the same towels and better sheets. If you're gonna call yourself a luxury hotel, you gotta deliver.

Remember to use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙᴜʟʟʏ. ᴄᴏᴍ when booking a place. They compare hundreds of hotel sites and normally will have prices a lot cheaper than others! Thank me later on! This hotel is the best rated in the area. I have been staying here for a long time. If you decide to stay here you definitely won't be disappointed. Lovely hotel with beautiful architecture, adorable gingerbread house, and huge Christmas tree! Totally worth checking out. If you get a room, they are very nice. I enjoyed my stay.

Top of a very big hill Would not stay here as the place did not deliver value or a convenient location. Great arrival and check-in. ☹️Bags very slow to be delivered to my room. Room big bright and excellent heating system. 😢The room cleaner threw away the top for my perfume (200ml bottle) which i had just purchased for $189 😭Really disappointed with this as I seal the perfume in my bag with plastic sealing - but 1/2 was leaked out by the time I flew to Seattle... HOUSE CLEANING OVER ENTHURSIATIC !

Since we walked up to Valet our vehicle everyone was rude. Valet was no where to be found so we waited at least 10minutes, once we walked in we were looking for the Tonga Room the concierge was the only friendly staff. We went down the elevator to the Tonga Room and the staff at the front were super rude, and when we finally got in the bar staff acted like they were annoyed by us. I've been here a few other times and it was great so I'm hoping this was an off night. Our server Bash was the best! He saved the night with just hospitality and friendly service. It was my best friend birthday and an occasion to celebrate! We spent over $500 that night.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the San Francisco Fairmont and let me tell you, it was an absolutely amazing experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us with warmth and professionalism, setting the tone for a truly luxurious stay. The atmosphere of the hotel is nothing short of breathtaking. The elegant decor, combined with the stunning views of San Francisco, create a serene and relaxing environment. It truly felt like an escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. What really stood out to us was the level of personalized service we received throughout our stay. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that we had everything we needed and that our stay was truly special. From the concierge services to the attentive housekeeping, every interaction was met with warmth and genuine care. Note: Make sure to reserve a table in the Tonga Room it's truly an exceptional experience. You won't regret it!

We stayed here for three days. I loved it. The room is cool and large. Staff are super nice and polite. The lifts are historic so a bit slow and only one was working. The door closes fast. I ended up losing my stroller for 5 mins because it shut too fast. Just imagine if my baby was there!!!

Gorgeous hotel and location, but unless you are a wedding party bringing in the big $$$ don't expect great service. We needed to ask for items repeatedly, and our elite tier benefits were neglected to be provided until we asked three times. During the stay information we requested from staff was confused and later was contradicted by other hotel employees. The hotel seems to lack training of its junior employees or has too much turnover to maintain training standards. Confusion reigned during our stay. It's a lovely place - and the employees were very nice, although often lacking follow through. If your expectations are not too high you will enjoy staying here.

My mom and I had such a great stay. Kelsey at the front desk was so friendly and go us into our room right away. Juan and William at the bell desk/valet offered us some great recommendations for things to see and some much needed advice on navigating transportation throughout the city. We had Oscar both nights that we ate at the Laurel Court restaurant and he was so kind. He never failed to put a smile on our faces. It was our first time in San Francisco and the Fairmont San Francisco staff and all of the friendly locals that we met along the way made our trip one to remember. We will be back!

This was in no way worth the money. The view is great but the window is filthy, our room in the original building is furnished like a mid-level motel, with low cost furniture and paper coffee cups. This place has just stopped trying, coasting on their location and rep, I suppose. Noise leaks in from adjoining rooms. The management nickels and dimes guests at every opportunity. I’ve had much more luxurious and comfortable stays at a Hampton Inn. The price of this place is just not justified, no matter how fabulous the lobby is. I will admit that the Tonga room is fun, in it’s priceless, kitschy way.

A great experience and great service. Tips: Be prepared for a lot of walking. We got an amazing room with a gorgeous view but it was a little bit of a confusing walk to get to the right elevator. Also, explore the hotel. There are some great shops and the “lobby” bathroom is beautiful, but we in the 3 days we stayed there, I almost missed them. Lastly, make reservations for restaurants in advance. We were able to eat at the Laurel Court, but the Tonga Room and most every other place in San Francisco was booked with reservations. We were told we didn’t need reservations at the Tonga bar as guests, but it would have been easier if we had reservations. The in-room coffee maker made small cups of coffee, so we didn’t even bother with it. Be prepared to brew a lot or get coffee outside of the room. The hair dryer that was provided was nothing special, and I wish I had brought mine from home. (I didn’t bring it thinking a nicer hotel would have a nicer hair dryer.) The hotel was beautiful. The view was breathtaking. The bathroom had a separate bathtub and shower. The architecture was ornate. The location was great and we could walk to Chinatown. We even walked to Ferry Plaza Farmer’s market.

This hotel was like a Christmas wonderland, decked out with all the festive cheer you could imagine. It was absolutely breathtaking, I tell you! Now, let's talk about the rooms. They may be on the smaller side, but they still have a whole lot of charm. Cozy and comfortable, they make you feel right at home. Who needs a massive room anyway? The on-site bar was good. They whipped up some top-notch drinks. But here's the kicker—in case you're feeling a bit adventurous, just across the street is the Mark Bar. Trust me, You've got to check it out! All in all, this hotel was everything I hoped for and so much more. It delivered on all fronts and never left me wanting. So, don't pass up the opportunity to stay here—you won't be disappointed!

Located in the best area of San Francisco. My check in was smooth and I was upgraded to a tower bay view room. The view was wonderful with golden gate Bridge view! The service was the top notch. Only negative was valet parking fee of $85, but in SF it tends to be higher. Overall I enjoyed my stay here, and this hotel is one of my better choices in SF area. Thank you for a nice accommodation.

I had the pleasure of experiencing exceptional hospitality at this hotel. The room's tasteful design and modern amenities ensured a comfortable stay, and the staff's genuine warmth and attentiveness made me feel like a valued guest. The hotel's commitment to sustainable practices was evident, and their efforts to minimize their ecological footprint were commendable. The dining options were a culinary journey, with each dish meticulously prepared and bursting with flavor. The hotel's convenient location allowed me to explore the city's attractions with ease. I left with a sense of contentment and a desire to return to this exceptional establishment.

The hotel is beautiful, I love the architecture and the Christmas decoration as well. Although we didn’t stay here, we came to see the gingerbread house. The gingerbread house is well done and really attractive for the kids. I’m putting 4 stars because is actually no a house, it’s just the display of a house where you can walk “through “ and is like 2 mins walk thing where you can take nice photos. What you see in my photos is only that, there is no more ! But very nice for getting the kids out during cold weather and do something different.

If there is a hotel to put in your bucket list to visit, make it this one! From the gorgeous lobby, the easy access to the nearby sites, the indoor seasonal gingerbread house , to the gorgeous views, this is the hotel to go experience. The ever popular Tonga room is also here. Yes, a little expensive, try to get rooms when they offer discounts, and you won't be disappointed. The staff there too is so helpful.

We indulge ourselves with the Bombay sweet for my sister's 21st birthday. The room was a decent size but the balcony was amazing. She had the most fun as it was written all over her face when she saw the room. We had a great view of the Salesforce Tower and the city. Also had a great dinner at the Tonga room. It was so nice not to have to wait in line because we stayed at the hotel for once. In-N-Out service was a breeze. The girls dance for hours and I highly enjoyed the ambience of the rain as it fell around the band playing in the middle of the pool. Just all around really good vibe

If you do not like quality sleep, book your stay here! The walls are paper thin, you can hear your neighbors cough, and conversations. That’s how bad it is. It feels like you’re in the same room with them. My wife and I are currently spending our anniversary weekend at Fairmont hotel, and can’t get any sleep whatsoever. The location of the hotel is awesome. The hotel is very luxurious. Staff is very friendly. Food is pretty good, but expensive. I am not sure if I would spend another weekend here because the paper thin walls are a real issue. We are so tired. Gladly tomorrow is our last day here.

My stay at SF Fairmont was fantastic! Every single staff person I had the opportunity to meet was kind, attentive and professional. The front door staff, the front desk staff, the dining room staff, the culinary and kitchen staff, engineering and support staff, stewarding staff, room cleaning staff, and the valet staff all helped to make my stay pleasurable. Plus, my room and the view was five star.

I had an over all positive experience. The reason for the 3 star was my expectation of the fairmont hotel was grossly inflated. The rooms were nice, but they were missing basic amenities. I was told there was a robe, there was none. I was later told my wife and I would be brought robes and slippers, this never happened. My wife thought she had lost a bag and we were told the security footage would be reviewed and we would be called with the outcome of that search. This call was never made to us and no voice-mail was left to our room. We were told we would get two 40 dollar vouchers for breakfast. We were only given one which would hardly pay for breakfast even for one person. The food was great. Best part of our stay. The Gym was really nice and clean we had a nice workout and paid for the access which should have been included with our stay, but I understand why it wasn't. The garden was nice although I think a new groundskeeper may be in order... We were upgraded to a king suite and I wonder if they just pawned a room off that was not up to standards hoping we would not.know.the difference or write a review... We will come back to stay here if we have another event, but for the price of a room we were not impressed with our stay and would not.come back for vacation or personal need. The staff was nice the rooms were clean, but we were just not impressed...

All staff was kind and accommodating. I had an issue with my bill and it was easily resolved. Nothing but positive notes related to the staff in all areas of the hotel. My only negative was there were children's crayons all over the floor of my room next to my bed when I arrived (easy enough to throw away, but not something I should need to do in any hotel) and I had to ask almost daily for some bathroom amenity that was needed (body gel, replenishing the small towels, etc.)

Absolutely fabulous hotel. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with kindness and fantastic service. Each staff member was so helpful and friendly. You can tell when staff take pride in the place they work. Our housekeeper made sure to work around our schedule and paid great attention to detail. The restaurant staff were very attentive. We called the concierge right before midnight with a question and appreciated how happy they were to help even at a late hour. Our room was in the newer tower and we were greeted with a fantastic view. The bed was SO comfortable! The history is interesting and the level of old-world class is maintained in small details. Plus, the location is great for multiple cable car routes and we were able to buy a MUNI pass and never need a car, we just used Google Maps and got around with ease. I cannot say enough about our experience and we will return!

This place did not disappoint! Read the reviews which drew me here. Traveled with a family of 5 and had a nice room with a couch bed. Big room too! The facility was very nicely kept and had a great historical yet modern vibe. The location was great and close to a lot in walking distance. We had a vehicle and and valet parking in and out worked extremely well. The entire staff was super friendly. The gym facilities were very nice. We will definitely be back with multiple people or a future couples trip. Highly recommend for a family trip, couples trip or outting with friends!

I was in the newer tower, with most of my colleagues in the older section. I really enjoyed my room, beautiful view, slept with blinds open. There was plenty of room for me to work. I rated 9 out of 10 as the body in the shower was empty and I prefer to have a cup of coffee as I'm getting ready, but don't need a whole pot.

Stayed for 2 weeks this June, service was fantastic at all levels. Hotel is dated at parts but has great bones and feels very old world. Plus points are professional gym, garden and easy access to cable car. Tower rooms offer 2 bedroom suites which are perfect for families and have incredible views. Overall highly recommend.

I've stayed at the Fairmont and it was amazing! The view of San Francisco from the hotel is breathtaking and the service is top-notch. If you're looking for a luxurious stay with the best views of San Francisco, this is the place to be. The hotel provided me with pristine service and the staff is incredibly attentive. I highly recommend it! The room space was large and the bed was super comfortable. The bathroom was clean and I loved the view of San Francisco out of my window. The room service provided everyday was great and the staff was very friendly and nice.

Stayed in the Bay View room and it was amazing. The room is very spacious and the view is spectacular. The hotel feels quiet and grand. They had great service, the bell and reception were very helpful and welcoming, it makes such a huge difference after a series of long, delayed flights. They also had a nice gift shop and the bar is super cool! The only disappointing part was the breakfast, wish they had more and better choices. Overall, it’s a great stay. Thoroughly enjoyed being able to enjoy the view of San Francisco right from my room!

This hotel is lovely, it’s a beautiful building and expansive. The Valet was very nice and gave a majestic welcome. They room was comfortable, the bathroom is much dated and I dislike shower baths with a passion so didn’t like this aspect. I checked in very early but really only wanted to drop off bags and check in later but the lady at the desk said the room was ready. As an ALL Gold member I would have thought a room with a view was in order but I was relegated to level 3.

I want to give a HUGE shout out to a wonderful asset to this hotel. My wife and I unexpectedly ran into Rae Cruz who has worked at the hotel for 10 + years. While riding in the elevator up to our room we had the pleasure of riding with her during her day off (without knowing she worked there). She went out of her way to give us such a great experience and made us feel so comfortable while there. We had a great conversation with her and we realized how much she does to help make that hotel run the way it does! The stay was absolutely amazing, the experience with Rae could have given this rating a 10 out of 10! THANKS RAE CRUZ!!!!!!

Such a lovely hotel to visit during the Christmas holidays. We had booked a Santa Suite for our young ones and they enjoyed the room more than being in Disneyland itself. The room was beautifully decorated, activities and Christmas snacks were laid out, plus we were given a free Christmas movie to watch. The Lobby is decorated with the biggest indoor tree and gingerbread house I’ve ever seen. Staff was friendly as well and the rooms were spacious. I highly recommend this hotel for the holiday season in SF. It’s a must.

Gorgeous hotel. Love the decor and Christmas features. One of the days, there were some kids that sang on the stairs. Beautiful. Our room was spacious. Bed comfortable. Clean, as expected. Staff were just lovely; quick to help and inform, really amicable. There was some confusion with using the gym and the urban fee, which was required to access it. The hotel since corrected any error/misunderstanding. Downsides: there’s no hot tub nor pool. And parking is the highest I’ve ever paid anywhere! $65/day! Even with a decent room rate, the parking just spiked up the cost by not a small percentage. Other than that, it’s wonderful here. I would stay here again for sure.

  • 2/5 Cara 1 year ago on Google
We had the Christmas buffet, unfortunately it was not up to standard in my opinion. The food was good, minus some of the dessert which were unfortunately inedible but what changed the afternoon experience were the senior staff. Some of them were plain rude, asking us to leave the area rather than asking us if we were having lunch, some staff just storming past pushing us out of the way. Clearly more important than the people paying the money to be there. One female staff member swearing behind the bar to find the remote to put sport on even though the manager of the hotel had said that it was disallowed during buffet events. Clearly an institution that can’t keep up with the type of service expected from a 5 star hotel. Definitely go if you want good food but adequate service but for $400 for two people I expect a lot more.

  • 5/5 Juliet J. 1 year ago on Google
I would put this fun place in my must see list especially during the Christmas season. Its place where you could see the team work of Chef's and Engineers. Amazing art by brilliant group of people. Its hard to tell that, this place is made up of ginger bread blocks. Its located on the top of the hill so you should be willing to drive uphill to reach this place. Plenty of road side parking is available. Real fun place to visit with kids, family and friends. Its the best place for photoshoot too. Love it. If you are in the Bay area then don't miss it. Place to appreciate creativity. Its free too.

Very beautiful hotel and very kind staff. Visited this hotel to see their gingerbread house and we’ll worth it. It is free to see but they do have a fun champagne bar and candy stalls for any age to find a yummy treat. Definitely a must do for a Christmas in San Francisco.

  • 4/5 E H. 1 year ago on Google
Pros; The hotel is a lovely striking building. The staff were pleasant and professional. Bed was comfortable. Food was good. Quiet at night. Cons: Our large room was on the first floor and it only had a small round window, seeing as we stayed 3 nights it would have been nice to have had more of a view. Apart from the window the only other problem was I just wanted ordinary cream or milk for the coffee in the room, however I kept getting a sweet French vanilla cream, and when I asked for ordinary cream/milk I got a hazelnut coffee mate.
