Mixed thoughts on the Laurel. I think the location is great and much better than staying downtown. The rooms are nice as well. Bathrooms tiny. We arrived at about 2 pm. We intended to drop off our bags and go do some things in the city. I figured we would ask if by chance the room was ready early and you would swear that I asked the man behind the desk to move mountains. He was pretty rude. We returned later to a nice greeting and at this point the lady who checked us in asked if I would like to utilize my globalist late check out and I said yes please. Fast forward to check out and I have people banging on my door and calling my room telling me they are going to charge me an extra night because I did not check out on time. After I informed them I was a globalist they were nicer but it was jarring. The hotel is nice, the hotel should not advertise that they honor Hyatt rewards benefits if they don’t intend to or perhaps the staff needs a PowerPoint presentation on what globalist / explorists are entitled to during their stay.

Feels more like a small local hotel than a Hyatt. The lobby is small and basic, the rooms feel a bit dated because of the carpet. Bathroom was recently remodeled but the person who designed the shower missed the mark - the tile floor is super slippery, there’s no handles or anything to grab, and the shower head looks decent but is junk to use with low water pressure. Overall, a difficult showering experience and no bath tub, which was an issue while traveling with small kids. There was a strong smell of weed in the parking deck each evening and it traveled through the lobby and up the steps to our room. I called the front desk the first night but gave up the subsequent nights. The walls are paper thin and I could hear the person in the room above us get up to go to the bathroom during the night. The location is a residential neighborhood and there’s very few restaurants to grab quick food nearby. The one nearby breakfast spot had a sign that it’s closing at the end of the month. But the neighborhood does feel safe and the parking garage at the hotel was easy to use (although pricey). It had very few spaces though so I’m not sure what they do when it’s full. The staff seemed fine - the housekeeping staff was friendly and always said hi as I walked down the hall. The front desk staff didn’t acknowledge me the whole three days I was walking in and out.

Front desk person ,Gill, was very nice and got us a King room after first a two bed room. Great free coffee, cookies in the afternoon and good local suggestions. Very happy with the quiet neighborhood and view from our 3rd floor room. Safe in the room, walk in shower, make up mirror with outlet at the base, and lot of storage, robes and more!

Not worth the price, the photos do not match the actual hotel room. Water is freezing, parking isn't secure, room is very cold (given the age of the building, not surprised). At ~$300/night, there are absolutely better options in the area.

Comfy, super stylish inn in a hipster, mid-century modern style with soft colors and shapes. Large and bright rooms, good work area and very nice bathrooms. I prefer to have an in-room coffeemaker but they provide coffee and tea free in the lobby daily. Nice neighborhood for walking, 15 minutes to inner Richmond and 45 to downtown. Reasonably priced. Will return.

I’m so happy to be able to recommend a Laurel Inn. What a remarkable surprise in San Francisco to find a hotel that is in a terrific neighborhood, a reasonable expense, with a very large room and kitchen. What’s even more remarkable is the style that is used to enhance the experience. This is not routine hotel style boring artwork. Original art is on the wall beautiful pottery lamps on tables that are themselves stylish wonderful wallpaper and terrific cleanliness. hotels nowadays no longer provide daily maid service with change and towels and linens. The Laurel Inn does. The staff is incredibly helpful and kind. I open struck during our trip to California how hotel ratings often praise properties that are just terrible and on the other hand offer average reviews for hotels that in my experience are really extraordinary. This is an extraordinary hotel

Way easy to get to from 101SB, parking can accommodate a F150 4x4 not lifted, room service with good selection. Awesome plumbing top out-toto and speakman-, room smells clean and is visibly clean and ultra quiet. I hate going to this city because of traffic and this was a stress relief no cap. Ol'lady loves the bathrobes also big no cap...

Now there is no place in sfo where you can be in abundance and grace. Other than two the Indian Consulate and this place maned by this charmingly seductive lady Ms Gill Eklof . I didn't know Nordic woman are so magnetic and classy and so so subtle. After all Sweden is next to germany. And well we know how clinical Germans are..there is no room for ruhaniyat. Anyways. So this hotel gives you freshly baked cookies and the if you are polite to the lady she will get you some high tea herself. The rooms are super luxury and chic ..very stylish..looks like an old classy holllywood, Marlene moonroe or jackie kennedy kind of a place. I am unable to place it.. its just so calming that all judgements cease to be. It gets you into a flow. If you are lucky you will the lady who will just randomly help you with 4 luggage weighing almost 65kgs. Then you meet the guy who mans it in the night and he is happy and married..beat that. He is a pilot and dreams of becoming richard bach. He is good. And then there is this another lady who is so beautiful and tall , I think she is like a pashtun..bold beautiful and very powerful and yeah very very helpful.. Everyone likes to be treated nicely. But one has to start with being nice. Paying money doesn't make you entitled to good service. Be good and you will see the love flow in this place.

Wifey choose this property to stay here for her birthday. I work in Norcal so I was already in town before she arrived. Checked in, the front desk lady was outstanding. I was sticker shocked but then again, I don't stay at 5 star hotels while I'm traveling for work. Location was nice, room was big, had a kitchenette, nice bathroom and good pillows. And don't forget to say hello to Snoop while you're there, he'll be sleeping under the desk.

Just had a wonderful 2 day stay. Very convenient for good restaurants (had great Sushi down the street at Tataki) and we got a ton of exercise in walking the neighborhood. A lot of hills but close to beautiful scenery with The Presidio and Palace of the Arts. Staff was very friendly, rooms were comfortable. They have coffee and tea all day, as well as the delicious cookies in the afternoon. Appreciated the water and ice machine in the lobby as well. Overall a great spot and we will look into another stay when back in town!

Place was super loud, and there is a bus that literally runs down the street all night long. Not even ear plugs could block this out. They had communal toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner...), but my room was missing some and there was a sign indicating that I would be charged if any of the toiletries were missing. There was also a whole assortment of very odd things that happened at this hotel such that I was offered a "free night." When I called to redeem this free night, the owner literally said it was nice of me to try to give his hotel another shot, but they were not going to honor the free night. When I asked why, he gave me a roundabout answer that basically suggested that they offer this if there are issues, but they have zero intention of following through.

Globalist here. Very nice classic old school modern retro design. I think this location was originally built in maybe the 50s and 60s. 3 story building with about 50+ rooms; some have kitchenettes. The lobby is nice and relaxing; I will admit the elevator was a bit scary so we decided to take the stairs 😂 rooms were quiet and spacious. The bathroom had a nice clean design, the water was a little stingy coming from the shower but we understand it was for environmental reasons. The front desk even sent us up gluten free items for breakfast which was a very nice touch. There's no spa or gym but the JCC is across the street and is free for globalists (small fee for everyone else). It was a little odd that the window in the room completely opened wide, but if you need air that's actually a nice option. I've just never seen that before in a hotel. I would definitely recommend this location for the price!!

I was in a rental car from Hertz that was towed without my knowledge. my belongings were in there. the key fob would not work that I paid for. So when they finally located the car 5 days later... I went to get my belongings. They were gone including my license and my ATM card and credit cards. And the doors were unlocked. Hertz would not let me have this car that I had continued to pay while it was missing in action and continue to pay as I was looking at it there was no reasons why they would not let me rent it or let me have it while I was still paying for it and they would not let me rent another car unless I had my license and that left me into bind as well as my ATM card and my credit cards I had nothing. So they left me stranded in the airport for 10 days finally a police officer verify who I was. this hotel they would not let me rent a room even though I had Google wallet and my two licenses on my phone. my license my money cards debit cards was all gone $10,000 of fraud the man was nice and said I could stay until I found a place and I thought that was nice so that's all I have to say since I did not stay there

The hotel is beyond warm, welcoming and elegant. It is the essence of what you picture when you think of San Francisco. This review is specifically directed to Ms. Gill Eklof. I have never in my life met a manager who genuinely cares more about the well being of their customers then Ms. Eklof. She is attentive and and makes sure customer needs are met in a manner that reflects positively on the Laurel Inn and Hyatt. I've been to many different Hyatts all over the country and confidently hold firm when I say, if Hyatt hired more employees like Ms. Eklof, all ratings would be 5 star! 10 stars, 20 stars, 50 stars, 100 stars! Ms. Eklof deserves to be reviewed and commended.

Slightly off the tourist path and a fun walk to the presidio and many other nice places. Some rooms have surprisingly nice views of the city. The prices are very reasonable but it's skimpy on features.

This is a real gem! Located in a great, but quiet neighborhood that is located on a bus line for convenient local transit. We stayed for a total of 12 days prior to and after I donated a kidney at UCSF. The staff was incredibly accommodating and took exceptional care of us during our stay. The rooms are incredibly clean, well designed, and I can’t recommend the kitchenette room enough. It was super helpful during our long stay. It also was pet-friendly, we saw a lot of furry friends during our stay. I saw some complaints about parking in other reviews and while we didn’t use the attached parking garage the rates were significantly lower than other hotels we researched. Highly recommend this for the ambience, quiet neighborhood, and the incredibly attentive staff.

I tend to be a hotel snob and was very concerned when this was the last available hotel I could book with that they had a block with the conference I was attending. When I pulled up I was still nervous and ready to cancel and go to a more expensive hotel if need be. Upon entering I was shocked that there was not a typical front desk but a table and Chair. I was greeted by Joey and instantly felt the warmth. He called housekeeping to see if they can get me into a room early, let me know that his name and that he would be working until 3:00 if I needed anything...another employee came over to make sure I was all set while he searched for rooms, housekeeping greeted me when I made it to my room. The elevator scared me but worked without a hitch. When I entered the room it was bright, clean, and cozy. The bed was very comfortable, the pillows were very nice. The bathrooms had 8oz lotion, shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner (you could use freely but also buy if you really liked them) and I was overall pleasantly surprised. The Laurel Inn has definitely opened my mind to the potential of staying at other boutique hotels. My experience with the staff was superb! Also the tea in the lobby is not the cheap stuff...YUMMY!

We had to last minute cancel our hotel block due to personal matters and Gill Ekloff who we worked with was accommodating and understanding. We felt so terrible about needing to cancel but she was very kind. I would book it again in a heartbeat.

This is a charming small Hotel with friendly patient people to help, though a little bit long in the touch. We stayed there because it was close to a very nice Restaurant (Spruce, recommended by Michelin with a “bip”). We had a comfortable room looking over San Francisco (parts of it, off course), which was very quiet. We didn’t need A/C during the night - we could open a window ( German tourists like that). They have a garage very close to the hotel. Ok that costs about 30$ per night extra. The room was spacious (downtown) and clean, the beds were comfortable. The bath had only a bathtub. They don’t offer breakfast, but there is a cafe just around the corner (Luna). For our purpose The Laurel Inn was the perfect hotel, in walking distance to the restaurant.

Very nicely renovated mid century modern hotel with large rooms and beautiful views of downtown. Friendly staff, parking available. Little cocktail lounge available during happy hour. Our only issue was with another guest's dogs that were left in the room adjoining ours and they barked incessantly.
