Nice rooms except the lights are obnoxiously bright and there’s only a single master switch for multiple lights so it’s either extremely bright or extremely dark. Good location, sure it next to the stadium. Absolutely terrible service and management. Elevators overrun by staff not using the service elevator. Just took the stairs. Both bars closed due to a wedding or something that rented space at the cost of the experience of the other guests. Not up to 4 star hotel standards, I’d never stay here again or recommend it to anyone.

Dear VIA Manager, Why are we not getting any response back from you??? We certainly were not expecting such kind of customer service from a hotel like VIA San Francisco! Hotel VIA has very much disappointed us as we made a reservation directly through Hotel VIA website for a Birthday Trip and booked our flights accordingly. We received a cancellation email next day without a reason. First email that we had received, indicated that the cancellation was requested by us, which was a false claim. Upon sending multiple emails and several attempts to get any sort of communication, we got an automated reply in the email that they apologize and there was a glitch in the system on their end therefore they are unable to accommodate. Since our flights are already booked, we have been trying to reach Hotel VIA managers for several days. We have tried calling many times as well but there was no response. We have proof of our reservation, as well the multiple automated replies we have received from the Hotel Management Team showing that the Hotel is responsible for the cancellation. According to Hotel’s terms and conditions, they can not cancel our reservations without a valid reason. Please beware of making a reservation at this hotel, you never know that they will cancel your reservation on the day of your arrival without any notice and you will not even get a hold of their Managers to give any explanation or a reason for their actions. As I have mentioned earlier in the email that I have a proof that the cancellation was made through the hotel and not us, but I would rather not attached all the communication here and would like to give one more chance for Hotel Manager to make this right. I don’t have any expectations from the Manager of the hotel to call us but hopefully our attempt to get a hold of someone by writing this review will help resolved this issue.

My wife, son, and I came to Via for the Giants game and an overnight stay. We wanted a stay a bit above the standard fare. What we got was an exceptionally friendly staff, amazing set of rooms with the stadium view, and relaxing amenities. The staff (one guy in particular that the front desk told me was Hector) made our stay the most pleasant stay we have had in a very long time. He was beyond courteous and saw to our every need with extra care. The other staff including a lady (not sure what her name is) was also very enjoyable and pleasant! To the management team: It's tough in these times to find an exceptional team that focuses so highly on our needs. Please keep them! We will make Hotel Via our #1 place to stay any time we come to SF and our word-of-mouth will speak of the highest regard for you and your team. Although our team lost and the game was disappointing, our stay made our long trip well worth it. Thank you staff of Via. Most of all, thank you Hector!

Nice little hidden gem bar on the rooftop. Had some great drinks made by some professional and friendly staff. Beautiful views of the city right off Oracle Park. Couple draft beers, solid IPAs. And wow! Food is great too, especially the pizzas- I was addicted.

The roof top bar was fabulous! Cool night, breezy.. no problem! Heaters and guarded areas aplenty… happy bartenders made us great drinks and great food recommendations, including Underdogs Mexican street food which was fabulous. Our room was fresh, roomy and we’ll appointed. Entire staff was helpful and friendly

The big draw for this place is its location. You can literally walk across the street to the stadium. Otherwise, it's a shining example of how to provide the least possible amount of space and amenities for the money. Good: nice staff, clean lobby/building/room, directly across the street from the stadium, easy access to most of SOMA. Bad: $400+/night for a small room facing the back of the hotel (lovely view of a brick wall) with a tiny bathroom (with sliding door, not a proper one that closes), *very* tiny workspace/desk, tiny closet, and only an espresso machine and mini fridge, no microwave. Room 512, for reference/future avoidance. Adding insult to injury: $70/night for valet parking ($85/night on stadium event nights). Particularly annoying: the room lighting only allows the room lights to be all on or all off, you can't have just the entryway or just one bedside light on. Absolutely bizarre and user unfriendly. The little 5" Android tablet in the room seems to be mostly used for serving ads. And turning all the lights either on or off. Temperature/fan control didn't seem to do much. There's a "snackshop" in the lobby where you can buy (overpriced) food and drinks. You can microwave your food there and take it back to your room. But for $400/night you shouldn't have to go to the lobby to heat your food. I can't really recommend it, unless someone else is paying bill for you, or you just want to be able to literally walk across the street to the stadium. Even then ... the lack of space, missing microwave, and room lighting mess make it a no for me.

Nice hotel located directly across the road from oracle park. 10-15 min walk to the busier part of town with shops etc. Well located explore SF with a call train station just a few minutes walk away. Room was nice and modern with a tablet that let's you control lights and communicate with guest services. Having room made up was less frequent than expected despite opting for the daily service.

Stayed one night with my grandson for the Giants game. The pluses were the bed was comfortable and had nice pillows. That was about it. The rooms are small, the “queen” bed was definitely not queen size. It’s a full they’re calling a queen. :( The rooftop bar was closed for public on Friday until 9pm. Then not open until 5 the next day. If you want a window to the street instead of a brick wall, get ready to pay another $200 per night on top of an already very pricey hotel for the money. Staff were ok, but unapologetic for the shortcomings. You have to go outside the lobby to the street to even access the restaurant! Won’t stay again- don’t recommend.

The hotel is phenomenal!!! it is clean modern looking and it is also pretty roomy for the price range. The location is also very good, its on the clean side of San Francisco and the Rooftop Bar is fantastic the view is nice, weather is good and there's a lot of attractions and restaurants nearby. Also bike or scooter stations are nearby and the roads nearby have good bike lanes so you can follow the seaside road up to the top portion of San Francisco. Service is awesome they let me late check out at 12.

First off, it's across the street from Oracle Park. Valet is right at the entrance. Check in easy and straight forward. Views are spectacular from the rooftop bar. Within reasonable walking distance to quite a few restaurants.

So disappointed in the hotel. A room that costs over $700 a night should offer more than the convenience of walking to Oracle Park To start, valet parking was great, the gentleman working valet was friendly and prompt. Check in was fine, room was ready early as promised. Walking down the hall to the room is like walking in a dark tunnel. The contrast between the hallway and room is shocking, the room is light and airy unlike the dark hallway. The room was small and narrow with a beautiful view of a Oracle park. To start with, the tablet next to the bed to order room service did not work both days we were there, no offer to fix it, just had a paper menu brought to our room. When I called down to the front desk to order, which I was instructed, they told me to call room service. When I dialed the #4 on the phone for room service it rang the front desk…order came up incorrect but they did refund me for the items I did not order. During the night the smoke detector flashes on a regular basis, which is annoying when you are trying to sleep. The closets are tiny, the bathroom door is set up to slide closed but it doesn’t give you any privacy because the door has a gap big enough to look into the bathroom. The shower has nowhere to put your shampoo/conditioner other than on the floor. There isn’t a foot rest so it’s almost impossible to shave your legs. Absolutely no counter space in the bathroom. The beds are very uncomfortable and we were able to see the wood slats that the mattress sits on. I was really looking forward to staying there but left feeling like I had been robbed. I would not recommend this hotel, possibly at less than half of what we paid but NEVER for over $700 dollars a night. Staff should be a little more aware of how they interact with their guest too…

The room is clean, bed is comfortable and shower is really nice. WARNING Main problem was the fire alarm in our room. It went off most nights we took a shower. It's really loud and doesn't stop unless they reset it. They said it's because customers complain that the fan is loud so they disconnect the fan. But then you take a hot shower and all the steam goes to the alarm and it blares to the point where neighbors hear too. They said open your door, we do and the alarm doesn't go off. We leave it open for 5 minutes. Alarm is blaring and I had to call multiple times until they shut it off. The gym has old equipment but it all works! No windows. gym is in the basement.I ran on the treadmill and it did the job. The rooftop bar is cool. big and spacious, heaters and a closed roof on one side. bar is small and standard drink options. food is small plates but very good. everything we had was delicious. Im not a fan of san fran prices, all meals are 20-35 or 40 for just one entree any where. and then there is that sur charge of 3-10% that every single place charges. But for the prices this food was very good. $20 for 3 shrimp tacos. super small, 2 fried shrimp per taco. The flavor was amazing! super fresh and crunchy, warm and delicious. the Caesar chicken salad was bigger than i thought it would be and great light dressing, the parmesan crisps were a great touch and the chicken was so tender. the hummus tasted homemade and came with an assortment of veggies and pita. it was a big tub of hummus so that was good $16. the view is also amazing and the staff are super nice

This place is great! Came down to SF for a follow up appointment at UCSF medical center for my sons knee surgery. Arrived early and was accommodated with an early check-in. The staff was very friendly. Valet parking is a little pricey. But there is a soft park. A couple blocks away for about half the price. Amazing location. Right across from the stadium. The rooms were extremely comfortable and the shower was one of the best I’ve had in a while. I would highly recommend this place for either Business or if you are looking to impress someone on a romantic trip. They have a rooftop bar as well. Will definitely stay again.!

My name is Theresa I work for New York Times and I came on a business trip to San Francisco. The location was Nice and it had an amazing bar. There was someone Name Freddy who supposedly is the House Keeping manager based on the information front desk gave me. Which he doesn’t even look like manager, but anyways Freddy was so rude to some house keepers on my arrival. He was yelling at them and talking to them like he was the boss of the place . He also ignored me and my business partner when were asking for help to get to our room and just left us hanging like if we didn’t exist. The person deserves to be fired doesn’t bring company any good. Never been ignored at a hotel like this and seen someone so disrespectful. Will definitely be back but if I see that guy will not come back again cause he doesn’t treat/respect employees and customers with dignity. This hotel deserves the right people that can bring business to the top with a positive attitude and work ethic.

Was there for a business trip and it was a good experience. The hotel staff was always very nice and they had great amenities available. I especially liked the water and ice machine on each floor. The tablet available in the room allows ordering without calling the front desk which is so great when you wanna order room service. The shrimp tacos were quite good, I highly recommend them.

+great location for Giants games We arrived early to San Fran and called ahead asking if our room was ready, I was told on the phone that yes a room would be held for me when I got to the hotel. My family and I got to the hotel and surprise, the room was not ready, I was told I would get a call when it was ready. My family and I walked around San Fran for a few hours, no call, so I decided to just go back and check and sure enough it was now ready? (Imagine that) Elevator was broken down when we arrived as well and the roof top was having a club? Party.. loud music all that and no one else was aloud up there. As far as the room, if you like being looked at while you shower from the mirror while on the bed that’s a plus for you (picture provided)dirty carpet, broken stuff in the room… just not a $300 a night hotel. I could list more, but you go at your own risk…

This place is amazing. Very high tech. Great amenities. The nicest people work there. I don't think visiting San Francisco is as nice as staying at this hotel.

We went here for the new year's party. The security guy was rude and was hitting on every girl possible. When we went to complaint to the staff we were told that it's not a crime to "hit on women". I will leave the judgment to you.

Very basic hotel. No one came to clean up my room during my stay there. Front desk people don’t know how to take feedback and when I tried to give suggestions like: you need to put stirrer sticks in the rooms because you have coffee but nothing to stir my coffee, they said it’s available at the front desk and the whole idea of listening to customer feedback and acting upon it felt foreign to them.

The room was nice but really small. The bathroom was very small as well and the sliding barn style door when closed had a two inch gap which made it not private. The bed on a scale from 1 to 10, 1 being super uncomfortable, I give it a 6. Walking distance to a lot of restaurants. I was on the 10th floor which it was pretty loud in the room from the live music coming from the rooftop bar but they stopped at around 10pm Saturday night. The Bar Via was not open which was not mentioned on their website but you could still get room service. The breakfast was very good. The front desk employees were always very nice and responsive.

Amazing location, the bed was very good but the service OMG AWFUL! The hotel is managed by teenagers! Bunch of kids who have no idea how to run a 4 star hotel. Some of them couldn’t speak English. We left the room in the morning and back at 8pm and the room was not made up, we asked the receptionist if she could send the maid and she said sure in 5 minutes which was in 45min. There’s no dining area, there’s no kettle of u like to have tea, only a coffee machine so if u are a tea drinker as me u are not in luck. There’s no privacy in WC, big gap at the door and the door handle was falling off. There was only one robe and one coffee cup there even tho we called before and left a note that we are on our honeymoon journey and would love to get a nice room, they didn’t even bother to leave a extra robe or coffee cup, when we called down the reception they said we have to wait until tomorrow when the maid comes. Overall it’s a 2-3 star hotel and NOT 4!

Staying at Hotel Via was a very pleasant experience. From the moment we were greeted by valet, to the manager in house and everything wrapped up it was a great experience! I only knocked off 1 star because the duvet was stained (not a huge deal). I would not mind staying here again! :-)

I have stayed at this hotel for two weeks and when I was on my way home I realized I have forgotten few things at the hotel. I emailed them immediately however I haven’t received a reply. I called them once I landed and they confirmed some items were left behind. I arranged a package to be sent with all the items , only to find out sent shipped only couple of items. Upon contacting them they advised housekeeping thrown out half of my stuff “because ” they through items was empty which they were not. I contacted their general manager who said will look into in and come back to me in two days… it has been a week now and I haven’t received any responses… no offer for compensation and apology that housekeeping decided to throw away or keep the items for themselves. Either way never going to stay at this hotel ever again

We spent a few days here and felt really safe and comfortable. Staff was excellent. Parking our car was $70 a night so not a cheap trip. But super nice bar on roof with excellent appetizers.

  • 4/5 Stephen G. 1 year ago on Google
The rooms are comfy, but the system to control the lights/aircon/cleaning service was kinda broken, or at best inconsistent. Maybe just go back to light switches? Anyway the rooftop bar was very friendly and the cocktails were good. There are limited food options, more bar snacks I guess. Great location but it would get pretty noisy at peak game times. It's close by a number of good restaurants, and close by several options for transport. The staff at the front desk were friendly, and happy to help out. overall a decent option for SF.

  • 3/5 Jasmin H. 2 years ago on Google
Very chic hotel, has a cute outdoor patio by the lobby, a clean basic gym with everything you need for your fitness routine, room was nice and has all the essentials but the bed was a bit uncomfy. Drawbacks: it’s all a bit overpriced for the lack of amenities, valet was speedy but also on the pricey side for SF, and for a room that looks into a parking garage. The selling point is the rooftop lounge, which I am glad I got to see the night I checked in, it really is gorgeous up there, but the second day it was booked for a private event so not only did we not have access to it at all, which sucked cuz there was no notice given to us at all, also the day party was loud, clogging up the elevator and making it impossible to nap during the day. I’d definitely call ahead to ensure there is nothing happening on the roof when you stay, takes away from the classy experience they’re going for.

The valet parking was off the chart for $ There is no room service They do not accomadate handicap at all I sent a letter to the GM and never got a response Price was crazy because they can change it. Room was nice

Not great - rooms smell of fresh paint - concierge staff wasn’t rude but not overly hospitable - the lighting system is really weird (can only have all very bright lights on or have them all of) Other than that, well furnished, new facility in a good location

Friendly staff for the most part. Rooms are nice. Location is decent depending on what you are looking for. Good for interest in a ball game I guess

The reason for 4-stars for the room.is RT ADA compliance. They do have horizontal bars in the bathroom.. They need vertical grab bars next to toilet, sink and shower. My hubbie is confined to a scooter and horizontal bars create too much strain. He needs a vertical bar to pull himself up.. He cannot use the wonderful shower for this reason. For me, it's all great. LOVE MoMo's down the block. So good we ate there every day. We always stay @ Via's for its proximity to Oracle Park 💞💞💞

I had a pleasant stay. The hotel is on the pricier side for me, but it is conveniently located walking distance to lots of restaurants and bars. The roof top bar is great!

Beautiful room with a great view of Oracle Park. We were in SF for the Journey Concert at Chase Center, which was perfect because Hotel Via is directly across the street from the Muni's loading platform. We had a quick bite to eat at the famous MoMo's Restaurant, which was just a few doors down the street from Hotel Via. Valet parking was excellent, and the Hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. We will stay here again!!

Edit: please don't make it sound like I'm blaming the receptionist. She was wonderful and went above and beyond and this isn't the type of knowledge she should have. The routers should use a standard security protocol and there should be a quick handbook available for employees on how to handle this issue when it occurs. I couldn't connect to the wifi in my room. After some troubleshooting realized that their router doesn't support WPA2 so if you're using mac you won't be able to automatically connect to it. Turns out that multiple guests complained about this before, but still they won't fix it or provide guidance about this. The receptionist was very kind and really tried to help me but couldn't solve it. Spent way too much of my time solving this. Definitely not a good experience.
