Good staff, good amenities, nothing oversold or undersold here. A solid three star hotel with four star service and cleaning. I do want to say, prior to staying here, I was scouting this hotel like mad on various travel sites. It seems to automatically "sell out" if the price is below a certain number. Both Hopper and Priceline Express both refused to sell the room to me when I applied a coupon. Pretty interesting why, neither explained their reasoning. Bathroom toilet seat and bathtub were not cleaned, which is a major sanitary issue considering fungi are a thing in the naturally moist Fisherman's Wharf. It's a shame the "Wharf District amenity fee" (a trick many SF hotels use to get more money out of you, regardless of where you book) couldn't be waived. However they gave me a free upgrade to a "junior suite" because I booked direct which was super cool. If you get a suite you are more likely to get a partial bay view, which is pretty nice. The streetcar runs right underneath you and you can hear it from 7am to 12am. Free boarding pass printable on the computer. Free printing on the computer next to it. Free breakfast, which was nothing to write home about, but a way to make up for the extra $20 they took. Finally a fitness center, which some may like. They both require vaccination in line with CA law (which holds no negative connotation on my rating).

Excellent service, quality, and cleanliness. Breakfasts have good quality and variety; nothing special for a free hotel breakfast but kept stocked and made well. Plenty of tables, enough to accommodate rush hour. Employees are warming and ready to help. Elevator’s a tad slow but not terrible. Complimentary tea and coffee readily available most of the time. Confident with cleanliness, enough to strut around barefoot in the room.

Visited on 04/10 ~ 04/11/2022 The front desk lady recognized my membership tier, gave me the proper bonus, upgraded me to a room with a better view, and asked me if there’s anything else I need. Very efficient and kind. The valet parking staff were nice enough that I wouldn’t stop tipping them. The rooms were as expected, no complaints. The valet can be expensive but SF is one of the most expensive cities you can live in. I wouldn’t hesitate to visit here again.

Great place to stay in a prime location in Fisherman’s Wharf. Very close to the piers, but don’t let the distance fool you. The streets can very hilly! The hotel offered a pretty decent breakfast every morning of scrambled eggs, cheesy omelette’s, sausage, pancakes, cereal, muffins, coffee, yogurt. I was surprised how well it was. The hotel is very clean and staff is very nice. The only downside is the $65 per night for parking. However if you head north a block or so, there is a parking garage that is $30 overnight. We parked there and they close the gate at 8pm. I’d recommend to do the same. Overall, excellent hotel to stay at. I’d come back and would recommend.

Our stay was great and within easy walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf! Breakfast was great every morning. And across the street was the Brick and Beam, a nice bar and restaurant. Down the corner at night was a bit dark on the street wouldn't want to be walking alone. Probably much more activity in season. If you have to park a car at the hotel the rates were outrageous!

Room was a bit on the small side but I really liked pretty much everything about this hotel.. it's a BIG hotel so it's busy but it was very clean and well run.. the breakfast in the morning was GREAT with lots of variety. Location wise it was fantastic and a stones through from all the places you would want to see in the area. Valet was a bit expensive given you need to park your car in the hotel or it will get broken into!!

Great budget-friendly place to stay. Within walking distance of pier 39 and fisherman's wharf. They seem to have just recently renovated. Rooms are clean, bathrooms are spotless, as are all the common areas. What sold us on staying here was the free EV charging they offer. They have several level 2 Tesla chargers available if you basket your car. Peace of mind about not having your car broken into, and it gets charged. Also love their pancake maker machine at their included breakfast. :)

The hotel was good and close to what we want to visit. The also were nice and provided Gluten free bread when I ask if they have it. 70$ is for the valet parking. I ended up parking on the street at night from 10pm-9am for free (check signs for street cleaning). From 9am to 10pm the car parking in the parking lot behind the hotel for 14 bucks. Make sure to not put any things inside the car. The only issue was with the valet parking when we were checking out at noon on the 10.19.2023. He asked us to move the car from the driveway even though I explained to him that I was checking out. I explained that I had 3-month baby and my wife inside the car and he did not listen and respect that. I asked him what he exactly wanted and he eventually said never mind! He was rude and he would say something to me and say the opposite to the hotel management. He kept arguing and screaming in front of everybody. More training and a more specific protocol for him is needed.

I recently had a fantastic stay at the Holiday Inn Express Fisherman's Wharf. The hotel boasts an excellent location, being close to numerous restaurants and major tourist attractions, making it incredibly convenient for travelers. The check-in experience was smooth, and I must commend Derek Wong at the front desk for his exceptional service. He not only checked me in efficiently but also offered wonderful dining recommendations and was exceptionally friendly throughout. The price point for the stay was reasonable, considering the prime location, and the hotel itself was clean and very well-maintained. The breakfast area may have been bustling, but it was impressively organized and presented, ensuring a pleasant start to the day. Overall, I had a great experience at this Holiday Inn Express and would highly recommend it to fellow travelers.

They were out of body wash and hand soap but did provide mini dove bars upon request. Rooms are not cleaned well at all. Nothing is really wiped down. Dirty surfaces, crumbs in carpet. Not very clean rooms at all. I wish they would do a better job cleaning the rooms.

We had a great stay here and will definitely return! I'm noticing in reviews that people are complaining the amenity fee: If you read the bill, you'll notice that it is a tax in that specific area of San Francisco. So be careful and double check whether your booking platform of choice includes that fee. We booked directly through the chain of Holiday Inn and had zero issues with that. We didn't had any extra charge. Another thing is parking: You need to understand that also this is a San Francisco issue, it's ridiculously expensive to park anywhere in the city. However: The public transit connections are absolutely wonderful and cheap too! Just use tram F from Union Square (goes every 10 minutes even) and don't even bother taking the cable car.

So first of all, from the photos this place looked nice to stay at, obviously they had valet parking and we didn't mind paying the price. The problems started the moment we walked in. At first we couldn't turn anything on for like 5 minutes because they made the switches on the other side or they just weren't working. Then when we had tried to charge our devices, half of the charging stations didn't work. We had to move heavy couches and lamps and heavy chairs to get to actual good charging stations. The furniture was either burning destroyed or again it simply wasn't working. The bathroom was no good either. The bathroom bottom was chipping away and the tub was not that clean at all. The bathroom itself felt not clean. The mini fridge they provide in the room was falling apart at the hinges and the drawers next to them, again falling apart. I wouldn't have minded this at all if it wasn't for the price you have to pay for it to be a room that was falling apart. Overall not worth it at all.

Before you finalize any booking, take a moment to visit ʜᴏᴛᴇʟᴅᴜʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏᴍ It turned my almost-expensive trip into a budget-friendly escape. I had an amazing stay here! The front desk folks were incredibly generous and helpful and I was always looking forward to seeing them when I came to the lobby. Once, I was walking towards the elevator and a gentleman passing the elevator called it so that it'd be there for me momentarily. That sort of consideration was my everyday experience staying at this hotel. Their vending machines were not super overpriced, which I was happy to discover. Free breakfast is hard to beat, especially in the city. I loved the novelty of the automatic pancake machine, and there's so much on offer at the Continental breakfast. I liked the yogurt and fresh fruit. Thank you to everyone who made my stay so comfortable and delightful!

The location is great. Very close to Fishermans Wharf. Plenty of great places to eat near by. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was okay. The lobby was big with plenty of places to sit. I would stay here again.

Great location for walking around Fisherman's Wharf. Fire alarm sounded off one evening and caused everyone to evacuate to the streets. It was a false alarm but I guess better safe than sorry. We experienced a billing error upon checkout but management promptly corrected the problem. (We had prepaid everything through Amtrak Vacations and saw that an unexpected resort fee/guest amenity fee of $22.70 was added for each of us, a total of $45). Personally, I think these discreet add-on resort fees/guest amenity fees are an absolute rip-off, but the hotel was nice with great employees so I would definitely consider this hotel again when visiting the area.

Some of the service on the amenities front is disappointing. While the location is nice as its an reasonably priced option within walking distance of Pier 39, etc, there needs to be some services added to bring this hotel in line with competition. Many hotels now have modest areas with a large variety of snacks and drinks and other travel related staples. Holiday Inn tries to do this via vending machines. The problem is that none of them work with the tap feature and it took me more than 25 swipes to get one credit card to work (tried multiple cards...not user error!). Next, I head down in the morning to catch up on work with my laptop. Go to plug it in where there are numerous three prong outlets...NONE over them work (cell phone chargers work fine). This causes me to go back up to my room to work where my family is sleeping. The staff is nice, the hotel is clear and wifi works good. With a little bit of maintenance and improved services for guests, this could be a 4 star review with a few grand investment.

Great location. Walking distance from the Pier and many amazing restaurants. Other attractions like Lombard street and Ghirardelli are very close by. The housekeeper was ever so cordial, managing around our exit times. The room was near the elevator and we expected it to be loud. It was alright though, not much noise from other guests, just the sound of the elevator. Not a big fan of the breakfast spread though, pretty limited.

Staying at this Holiday Inn represents what lodging should be. The staff here are above and beyond industry standards. Their continued overall exceptional service should be commended especially dealing with all types of travelers if you know what I mean. The staff are very professional, courteous, friendly and helpful. The cleanliness of the rooms and the entire hotel shows that the staff cares very very much. Holiday Inn corporate should use this location as their model as the way all their locations should be.

Very nice hotel, convenient to the cable cars, Pier 39, and the cruise ship piers. Would be nicer if they had a pool, jacuzzi, and those famous HIE cinnamon rolls. The staff couldn't have been nicer. They held our luggage until our room was ready so we could roam around, and fixed a broken thermostat in our room right away. Fitness room is small, but well fitted out. They charge a lot for parking, so leave your car at home if possible.

I've stayed at many Holiday Inn Expresses, this isn't one I will return to. Staff were friendly but the rest wasn't a good experience. My wife and I decided to stay in SF while traveling up highway 1. We picked this hotel because we know the brand is good and it was a convenient location. After going to checkout many other fees popped up which took the total up by about $100. We figured we'd just pay up but felt it was a bit dishonest. Then we went to park and found out that they charge you $61 to park in their lot, but when you get the bill there's an extra parking fee and tax that takes it to another $100. So, we spent way more than we planned and felt that it could have been more clearly stated. Go 20 minutes south and stay at the other Holiday Inn or somewhere that shows their pricing in a more honest way.

I had a nice week here while in town for work. The hotel is exactly what it's advertised to be. No great frills, but it's clean and perfectly nice. The location is perfect for hitting all the tourist attractions in the Wharf area. Staff was friendly. I had an issue with my a/c, and they had maintenance up to my room in about 15 minutes to get it rectified. The free breakfast had a pretty decent variety.

Great customer service all the way around. Jose helped my wife juggle getting the breakfast for our 3 kids. House clean was excellent and 100% on their A game. The man running the front desk extremely polite and helpful. The parking always had the car ready. We stayed an extra night. Great location, plenty to do for the kids and family. I've stayed at 5 stars with not near the service. My only hesitation in this review is increasing demand for an exceptional place, but exceptional management should be acknowledged and rewarded.
