Terrible experience. Indeed, the hotel is well located, however, my room was dirty (cigarettes on the floor) and I was attacked by bed bugs the first night. After arrival, I asked for the upgrade and possibly a different room but I was told there is no room available which was a lie. The day after when I experienced the bed bugs they finally offered me another room but I simply decided to check out and seek better place. The Mosser Hotel is full of bed bugs so be careful as I ended up with some allergic reaction and suitcase filled with small friends. To finish, the hotel also smells badly. Avoid at any cost !

The Mosser is a centrally located, clean, compact hotel with good prices. For what it is I think it is 5 stars. If you're looking for luxury with lots of facilities and large rooms - this ain't your place. I asked for a quiet room when making a reservation and they put my in 818 which is a top floor room at the back left. I sleep with earplugs anyway but it was a quiet room for a central city location. The room was compact, barely 120sf I'd guess with the bare minimum but perfect for a traveller just needed a bed for the night. My only gripe was that the tiny basin was in the corner of the main room and had a glass shelf right above it. Every time I bent down to spit out my toothpaste or wash my face I'd hit my forehead on it. Since there was a shelf to the side it didn't really need to be there - I'm sure a lot of people end up whacking their head harder than me or spiting toothpaste on the floor.

Good value for money. Rooms are small but recently painted and kept clean. Overall manager is a bit of an interesting character; quite rude to customers and his staff. Other staff are trying their best and friendly. Great location. Laundry on site is an advantage, other hotel guests sent here from far more expensive places to access this facility. Front door kept locked at all times for security which we appreciated due to the types of people that hang around the Union Square area. It's a bed for the night type place.

I stayed for 8 nights at the Mosser. At time of writing I am in my late 20s, single, and am on my last night here. I am staying in a QUEEN SHARED BATHROOM room: 1 queen bed 1 sink in bedroom (complete with a small shelf for toiletries, a large, flat mirror, separate vanity light, blow dryer, towel hangers, and a toiletries basket to carry to the shower) 1 nightstand - quite small, but can fit many things if organized well 1 VERY LARGE CLOSET - I have a huge suitcase with me and it fits, many clothing hangers, a shelf up top... excellent space. There is an iron and an ironing board inside the closet that I could take out. This was very helpful for me to iron my professional clothing. 1 rolling chair and 1 stool 1 medium sized wastebasket - ask the hotel staff, and they will give you another trash bag if you use this up This style room doesn't have a toilet or a shower, however there were two toilets across the hall from me, and two showers around each corner. I never had to wait to use either toilet or shower, even though there were a couple other women who I shared with. Toilet and shower are cleaned multiple times a day. The room is a bit small and might be cramped if you are with a partner. It is ideal for a single person or for a very organized couple. Since I am alone, I was quite pleased with the space. The website is very user friendly. I booked my stay on the hotel website and longer than 1 week stay, basically half off. I was also able to check in early by checking off the option to do so on the site. They had my room ready when I checked in - zero wait time. Any time I had questions or needed help from the staff, they were friendly and helpful. There is no air conditioning - just a ceiling fan. I was not bothered by this since San Francisco has a moderate climate - I left my window cracked and turned the fan on if I was feeling warm. This could pose a problem for visitors who are not comfortable with city noise, since the noise does filter into the room (even up on the 8th floor). Personally, I did not have trouble falling asleep and just wore headphones if it did bother me. If you struggle with noise I recommend earplugs. There is laundry in the basement of the hotel. You can buy detergent at the front desk for $1. There is a microwave in a small alcove in the lobby. Super convenient, since there are multiple grocery stores less than half a block in either direction of the hotel. You will not break the bank eating out if you stay for a long time. There are plenty of outlets to charge all of your electronics. Location is close to many different transit. I could get to many different neighborhoods in the city from just a half block away in any direction. Some improvements I can recommend to hotel management: - Please supply the rooms with mini fridge - A small desk or at least another nightstand (just more counter space) would be nice in the Queen Shared BR rooms. - Please provide a safe inside the rooms A huge green flag for me is that there have likely been renovations here quite recently - I reviews complaining about sink cabinets making it difficult to use the sink, and those have been replaced for flat mirrors (at least in my room). Overall, I had a good experience. It is clean and private here. I would return on my next trip to San Francisco.

I think this hotel was well worth the money I spent. The rooms are smaller but that's what you should expect when you're paying this price range. It was within my budget range and I was not disappointed by anything except the fact that they do not have coffee makers in the rooms. I have to say that the front desk staff was extremely helpful and very polite and they allowed all my stupid questions and gave me perfectly great answers.

I always rely on reviews to choose where I stay - if you found this place and are searching, it's perfectly fine. We chose the shared bathroom (so it's like a hostel) and it was just what we needed. If you are looking to save some money and aren't planning on being in the room all day, this works. If I came back to SFO, I'd stay here again. Nothing special and nothing bad. Hairdryer in the room, comfortable bed. Location is fantastic. They provide towels, a robe, shampoo, conditioner and body wash.

Great location for a conference at Moscone Center. Very walkable to public transportation and some good restaurants. The rooms are small and old and there's the smell of an old place but had everything I needed. It was a great deal for the location and functionality, good for people who plan to travel around the city and just looking for a place to sleep at night.

It's definitely an older property which comes with its own challenges, but also charm and character. Only one elevator for all guests/HK/Hotel Staff... which causes traffic jam during mornings and check out. Staff is friendly, rooms and smaller but quaint and quiet for the most part. No air conditioning, just ceiling fan and window. Rooms are cleaned up but could be better. Ceiling fan was white but blades were dirty with dark dust coated. It's a decent place and for the money you can't go wrong. Prepare for stair climbing during your stay.

One of the worst hotel I’ve stayed at, definitely not worth even for such a low price in SF. The room was tiny that barely fit a twin size bed and a tiny little sink in the corner. The walls are super thin and you hear a lot of noise. I checked in around 1 am and could not sleep because of how much noise was coming from other rooms that late at night. Stayed just that first night and decided to go to another hotel instead even though it was a non refundable booking. You’re better paying a little extra and staying at a better hotel like the Marriott right across the street or inter continental just 5 min walk away.

Had very bad experience stay this Mosser hotel. Yes, it's rate is relative cheap, but what you paid was what you got. I scheduled to stay 6 nights for attending a meeting in San Francisco. After two nights, I found there was no room cleaning service if you don't request. So after stay three nights, finally I got the room cleaned. No so bad, rights? However, it was really scared me was that, on the fourth day, I left around 7:30 am and the room was cleaned about 9:00 am. However when I came back to hotel in the evening around 7:30pm, and I found my room door was fully opened. I had my computer, my traveling documents in the room. I would be a big trouble if I loss those documents. I think I was lucky, and I canceled all further room clean services.

It was a great stay honestly clean and quiet, and secure. You can't help what goes on around the hotel though so don't be surprised. My only dissatisfaction was they didn't have the bistro and the muffins weren't really a thing. The rooms were small but very homey. Would definitely stay again though.

Excellent value!!! Small rooms, two twin beds, small bathroom but CLEAN COZY & COMFORTABLE! I was traveling with my 12 yr old daughter so the twin beds were fine for us. The staff at the front desk were polite and helpful. I saved over $1000 staying here vs the Marriott across the street.

Decent stay. Value for money. Pros : Centrally located, adjoining Union Square. Short walk to BART station and all public transportations. Lots of restaurant and shopping options nearby. Decent and comfortable room. Cons : The property is a bit run down, needs refurbishment. An In-Room hot-water kettle etc. would have helped, to make tea / coffee.

Room is 80 degrees with no A/C, and windows bolted shut. Also, room has a transom over the door that lets hallway light in like a spotlight. There’s a little mini blind covering it that doesn’t make a lot of difference. It’s 4:00am and I can’t get back to sleep. Hotel staff was kind enough when I called the front desk, but when I asked for some aluminum foil and tape to cover the transom they were unable to assist. Do not stay here if you are traveling for business. This was the only hotel available, so I rolled the dice. I will not stay here nor any other hotel in a 100-year-old building like it ever again. If you do stay here, then do yourself a favor and pop into the Trader Joe’s next door to get a roll of foil so that you can cover the dang transom. Now, the reason I can’t get back to sleep is simply because I’m so furious at this situation. I am also quite concerned about the possibility of bed bugs here. Please read other 1 and 2 star reviews before booking. There are a lot of 4 and 5 star reviews that make this place seem great, but they aren’t representative of reality.

It was a comfortable stay. I personally wish the shower was bigger I felt claustrophobic! Other then it being a micro hotel room, it was in a great location off of Market. Great dining options and shopping in walking distance! The Victorian Style building was so beautiful. Parking is $56 offsite which is bleh but it’s the city. I would stay here again. Like I said room was clean and quaint, service was excellent!

I think it’s a great hotel. Amazing location, you have everything you need around and you can also easily walk around some SF goal locations. Sure, the bathroom is shared, but that’s not new nor a minus. Newer bed/sofa would be cool, but the current one is very comfy. The room is smaller, but perfectly ok for 2 people for 8 nights. You can also wash&dry your clothes in the e basement. Friendly staff, free morning coffee, super clean. I could stay even longer.

Super cute cozy rooms and clean. Came with extra amenities like robes, body wash, shampoo and conditioner. Amazing location with so many stores and food and nightlife as you step foot out the door. I love it. Booked with private bathroom and thankful I did .

We had a full day in San Francisco before a late night flight and we wanted to make the most of it. By the afternoon, though, we were exhausted from dragging our kids everywhere and ready for a little break. The Mosser allowed for a several hour stay for a reasonable rate. The staff- Dell and the manager- were helpful and accommodating. The room wasn’t big but it was just what we needed. The building feels old-school fancy and definitely added to our San Francisco experience. We really appreciated having a spot to relax for a few hours before going back through the city and on to the airport.

The room is what you pay for, it’s not a luxury hotel. However, I thought the room was small, clean and cute. I did not run into any issues while staying here and I would definitely re-book with them in the future.

Honestly I give this place a five stars. Me and my boyfriend went to a concert last night and the parking garage we had originally parked at, closed and locked us out. We had nowhere to go since we live two hours away. We tried staying at different hotels and nobody had anything until we walked in here and asked if we can stay the night , luckily the young guy had one room open and he gave it to us. Really wish I had gotten his name but he was working Saturday night, 9/2/23 around midnight is when we walked in. Hope you see this, and thank you for taking us in we appreciate it so much. Will definitely stay here in the future. Room was really clean too.

How does this hotel have an 'excellent' rating? Do they pay for it? Where do I start? A double room? If you can't open a storage door fully, then no it is not! Cover fell off shampoo dispenser first use. Worst, and relatively, most complicated shower control ever. Hairdryer didn't work. Smallest sink ever (not in bathroom), with a pointless shelf above it that meant you couldn't lean over when shaving/brushing teeth! Smell of cannabis. No air con. No routine housekeeping. Someone else mentioned soundproofing re external sounds - internal more the issue! Arguing couple in next room until early hours, slamming doors, people on their phones talking about God at 4am!! Spoke to staff who seemed sympathetic however, did little to either sort the issues out (other than hairdryer), or make amends. We were offered another room, however, had seen another review saying this had been charged for, so declined. However, not offered any recompense, unlike other hotels where issues were encountered! It's not the cheapest hotel either, and we got the impression they were trying to spend as little on it as possible to maximise any profits. To be honest, if I could have given it '0' I would, even though the staff were okay, and it is in a good location. The cells we saw on Alcatraz were larger and more functional! Spend your money elsewhere as there must be better to be had in SF.

Be aware that their website is misleading, they do not offer valet parking despite the fact that it says on their website that they do. Several rooms do not have their own bathrooms. We requested a late checkout, but they deactivated our key so we couldn't get back into the room without going back to the front desk. I would recommend you stay anywhere but here.

Cute, old world style hotel right in the heart of downtown and steps from the BART & Muni stations. This hotel has a very 1940's vibe to it. The staff was always attentive to my needs, although check-in started off alittle rocky especially when they change staff at 7:30pm..but overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. Some rooms have bathrooms in them...a few others you have to share the bathroom/shower with guests on your floor. They provide coffee and tea in the mornings...although a mini buffet would be much appreciated.

This was hardly a hotel room. It is a 100-square-foot room if not less. Everything is super outdated, the TV doesn't work, and when it does it's shotty. The only power outlet near the bed is tucked behind the backboard which is inaccessible. You can hear every single thing happening in the rooms surrounding you. My "hotel" window is directly facing someone's apartment in an alley and when they opened their blinds they were naked and surprised to see someone was in the room. Light seeps through from all cracks of this room so if you like avoiding light when waking up you can forget about that. Yes, it was affordable, but where I come from (east coast) even affordable hotels have qualities to call it a Hotel. This is just a pure example of how everything in California is misleading and low quality. Why people go crazy to come to Cali is beyond me and this hotel is a great representation of how this state is so falsely advertised. Never mind the overpopulation of homeless people when walking outside. This entire city is absolutely disgusting. Nothing is ever as good as it seems to be on TV. The only okay part of this experience was that the room was clean. My advice: turn this into a Hostel. At least people will know what to expect from Hostels. You might even make more money.

The rooms are indeed tiny and some do not have bathrooms. That being said, my room worked well for the bare minimum of what I needed each night. Note: For any Midwesterners, no air conditioning. Not sure if this is make or break for you, but the ceiling fan worked just fine for all of the nights I was there. Opening the window led to some fantastic sounds of the city (mostly fights and trash cans in the alley). If you're on the third or fourth floor, just take the stairs. The elevator is extremely slow and the staff frequently used it which tended to increase the wait time. The handling of our luggage was a bit sketchy. They ripped up some paper and wrote our names on it to label where it goes to. Fortunately, nothing was missing after doing a spot check later on. Finally, the location is perfect for Dreamforce. Just a few blocks away from most of the events. You're doing about 12-13k steps at the event. Having a short walk back today the hotel was relieving.

To be honest I was very worried about staying here because I have read some bad reviews. But the price was pretty good so I decided to stay here, and surprisingly I had the best experience ever. I travel alone a lot and gets to stay at cheap hotels all the time, and this one was the best out of all of them. The room was clean and it was a perfect size for one person. I had to share bathroom with other ppl in the hall but it wasn't a big of a deal since I could always go to another floor if it was occupied. Idk if it was just the room I stayed in but it wasn't loud at all. I had a really nice experience here! Def not something too fancy but very cozy and reasonable. Will come back.

The facility is obviously old but very well maintained & cleaned. Reception guys are super helpful, and their cleaning team is compliant to cleaning protocols. None of the perspective you will find in this price range hotels.

Convenient location, easy access to buses and metro. Room is clean and functional, all necessities (soap, hairdryer, towels, hot/cold water) were available. Sink is a little small but still manageable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was quiet and we rested well.

I had a queen room, make sure to call and ask before you just book pictures dont do justice sometimes. I only had a bed and sink in my room and a mini closet but I really liked the concept. I would definitely stay here again. I paid 200 something almost 3 for 3 nights which is a huge deal being that this is right on market You wont find a deal like that all the time so I like the set up. I really liked that I had my own room so i had no problem going out of the room to use the bathroom or to shower , you realize unnecessary you need those things when you are solo. Unless you have family, people of 2 or older person. So for one person or quick travellers this is worth it.

Had the opportunity to grab a room the weekend of the 16th of September. From the the check in to the check was a great experience. Room was really clean with the quite the view. The robes were included with our stay. I guess some other people did not receive them but fortunately we did. Shout to Adan for info on the local spots. Will definitely be checking in here on my next stay.

  • 4/5 Darryl S. 1 year ago on Google
Location wise this place was awesome. It was so easy to get all over San Francisco with the metro, cable cars, and numerous buses just outside. I also saved a ton of money making use of the Trader Joes and Target just down the street in tandem with the fridge in my room, and the microwave for use in the lobby. The rooms were more then large enough for a single traveller, and the bed was super comfy. One big area for improvement is putting soft closers on the room doors and especially the front door to the hotel. It would slam hard every time someone walk in or out. For the rooms it was like a crazy slamming contest, and easy to tell with other people were coming or going. Overall I was quite happy to make this my travel base for a 10 day visit.
