If I could give 0 stars, I would. I went to SF for the Pride event some time ago & all the hotels were booked ahead of time & only this one was available. WORST HOTEL EVER! 1) The structure was crumbling before my very eyes, the bathrooms were shared between each floor & weren't cleaned for the time I was there. 2) I told the staff about the mess in the bathrooms, they just shrugged it off & acted like they didn't understand English. 3) The room I booked didn't lock well & I told the staff immediately, but they didn't know what to do & shrugged it off. Seriously?! 4) I asked to change to a more secure room & staff just didn't know how to handle it & made made me call their maintenance guy or whoever to help me change rooms. 5) the entire place smelled of wet ashtrays even in the rooms, I thought since I'll be out for most of the day it wouldn't be so bad of a place...I ended up getting bed bugs!! I left a day early than my expected 3 day stay & when I got home I noticed the bites & sores all over my arms & stomach & I knew it was from the hotel & called to let them know. They didn't take me seriously & said that the 2 days I was there I didn't say anything so they refused to take accountability. With how their place is run, I doubt this was their first incident with bed bugs ugh!!

I am going to start off and say - this is not the Hilton - but it never advertises itself as such, and a Shared Bathroom "European Style" (I'm European and never seen this in my life) is very common in San Francisco on budget hotels - so make sure you read your booking. That being said, my review is as follows: Hotel Staff - I've stayed here a couple times now and the couple that work the front desk have always been incredibly polite and have never had any issues. If you're looking for somewhere cheap and close to central - these guys have you covered. The Room & Amenities - Since my last visit, things have got a bit better, it feel like the rooms are cleaner, and there are more amenities on the included sink (soap / lotion / body wash etc) and more towels. The Room is cheap and cheerful, has a couple of draws, a chair, TV and a decent sized bed. There are a couple things it could do with - some wall hooks for jackets / towels after shower etc, and maybe some brighter bulbs for the main light in the room - it takes a long time for the warm bulb to actually start giving off light. The bathrooms whilst shared have always been incredibly clean whilst I've stayed here (3 times) and never had any issues with waiting etc. Only other side note - for the TV's move the TV box behind the TV - don't have it just hanging out. I honestly feel with some fresh paint / new curtains and those little tweaks, this place could easily go from a 2 start hotel to 3 star vibes. Location - It's near a highway, but when you get later in the evening you don't hear it. There is a dive bar underneath and a club behind but honestly aside from one time there was a metal band performing, they've never kept me up or awake. In the morning you get a nice light through the window as well which is great for waking up naturally. The Building - This is classic San Francisco "Stick Style" architecture which just oozes character - this building has the history too if you look it, famous people used to come party here! Finally, for Solo Travelers, this is a nice step up from a Dorm Accommodation and for Solo Business that just want a cheap place - it's not bad at all. In my opinion it's one of the only fair priced hotels in the city.

I must say the shared bathrooms at first sounded really scary but it ended up being a better experience than I thought. Each floor has their own bathroom to share. -We didn’t have to wait for the bathroom or the shower at all. The bathroom and shower were clean and maintained! Location was great, we were able to ride bird scooters almost everywhere. We had NO issues parking whatsoever. (I highly suggest parking in the alleys nearby, it’s safe & FREE!) Room was very clean & the staff was great. Would definitely return 1000x again, for this price, you simply can’t beat it especially when most of your time is being spent exploring the city. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! 🙌🏽

Pros: price is low (so if you just need a place to sleep go here) and the location is good (convenient) Cons: Horrible customer service (unhelpful and rigid guy at the front- doesn’t care at all about his guests), whole place stinks, thin wall and windows so you can hear everything- the music at the bar below and cars, beds so small that you almost fall off, no bathroom in the rooms, rooms the size of a bathroom, stained towels and sheets, bring your own soap. I would try to avoid this place if you can, will not be returning

Managed by a very impatient, rude Indian guy?!!!!! If you have any problem like a noise disturbance they won't be understanding at all!!! It's not like regular hotel, it's more like a psycho ward!!!!! Some very very strange tenants there!!!!!

The whole hotel smells terrible like curry and other seasoning’s, couldn’t sleep one night because of the leaky windows(the rooms shake if a truck passes by). Stained bedsheets. Some of the people where throwing up on the only toilet.. disgusting. We weren’t expecting much but not that kind of horror. NEVER AGAIN

Most disgusting place you'll ever stay in. Do not stay here. It is in an awful location, surrounded by homelessness, drugs, and overall trashy conditions. I cancelled after the first night. I would rather sleep outside.

I expectations weren’t high but definitely were low. There’s no elevator as it is an old building. The staff at check out were nice but no one behind the counter was wearing masks or socially distancing. Seem like a regular base gathering. I wasn’t bother as much as I would be with having to share bathroom and shower as it wasn’t crowded. Although it’s unsanitary to have a toilet in a room without a sink to wash hands. It seemed like they clean the shower and toilet room frequently. The bed sheets could be better as they weren’t super clean, there was hair. Towels were clean as they should be as some tough stains were on them. Windows could be insulated more or sound proof. Overall, not too terrible of a place as I thought it would be. 3 star capable, but only 2 star because they aren’t taking Covid seriously.

DO NOT STAY HERE!! front desk is behind bullet proof glass and I feel like that’s all I should have to say. Rooms look like they’re caked in a layer of something/everything gross, and you feel like you’re going to get murdered if you stay here (I really don’t say this lightly either.) I did not stay the night.

Great affordable options. Shared bathrooms were a bit of a disappointment. And the rooms could have been cleaned better but we're acceptable. The inn is in a great location, and quite convenient. For the price, I would happily recommend.

I guess i missed the “shared bathroom” amenities part……. But other than that, the place is a a great location right above 2 night clubs, and when i went to bed i was out. Lol i don’t even think the music kept me up ;-) Room was clean and staff was nice.

Very quiet area..... almost too quiet for san francsico.... just know your going to be paying 250$ for the deposit when you arrive lol.... don't make the same mistake I did and not call to ask about the deposit first before reserving a room online....

As far as I could tell the "Utah Inn" was shut. Windows were boarded up & there was no activity to be seen. Wow, too bad. They would have live music & it was a decent place before "Panny" came to town...

1/2 star given. half! foundation is...for lack of another descriptor, lousy. bathrooms are dirty and unkept and not private. bathrooms just aren't maintained and staff aren't responsive. It doesn't feel comfortable. parking is not offered and no compensation for parking is offered (no validation, no voucher). the security is so iffy and safety is not a priority. the smell was a bad aroma of burnt cigarettes and dampness. price could be "even lower," as to "warn people," or caution, and the security is so meagerly. this place's services and amenities and Trainings could be redone. also, signs bilingually and multilingual could help to be expansive and inclusive and allow for better comprehension for many. they could also have token or coin lockers in the bathroom, at least 4-6. Things like room slippers could be offered and complimentary , plus several free, sealed bottled waters. they could also offer coin dispensers of disinfectant sprays inside the hotel rooms, and for deodorant. The hotel could be more transparent online about its truths and amenities.

Sliders, tots, pizza, beer, buddies. And the old hardwood long bar wraps it all up in cozy.

Very noisy won’t get any sleep as hotel next to the busy freeway ,no tea/coffee making facilities , communal areas of hotel very dull and grim and only one bathroom and toilet on each floor (not good if you need to go and someone is there ) . Guy at reception had some sort of ego issues ,not welcoming and refused to store my bag after 2 nights stay when I had to catch bus to LA in the evening. 👎

I liked the rooms and location. It was noisier than I’d expect and the hallways are in a bad condition. Also while I was staying there the power went down so there was no electricity for like a day. But in general, for the amount you pay, it was pretty good: clean and comfortable.

It's OK. Except No coffee pot, No Fridge and No Microwave. No bathroom in the room we stayed in or Shower. The bathroom and shower is kn the hall and it's shared also. $103 through Expedia here in the city not bad. Didn't know Safeway up the street has a parking garage but at a fee. Wich sucks.... but overall my partner and I made the best of it.

Utah is one of our perfect Frisco dive bars. The food is quality, the drinks are normal, and the regulars might Shanghai you in the best way possible.
