LOVED the unique literary theme of the decor, the mix of old & new, the attention to detail. Behind one of towels, for example: a stylized illustration and quote from Will Burroughs: "Strip your psyche." Unexpected available amenities included a white noise machine, typewriter, yoga mat, meditation bowl. Beds were super-comfy. Friendly, helpful staff. Convenient location in downtown San Francisco, within easy walking distance of so many great restaurants and tourist attractions. Perfect hotel for bibliophiles, writers, and other creative types!

Trendy, Chic and VERY Comfortable What a cool hotel to stay at when in San Francisco! Check-in was smooth thanks to Mark and Fungai, our room was clean and had all the amenities we needed. The Lobby bar/lounge is a fun place to start the evening before heading out. I can't say enough great things about the staff. Gitanjali at the front desk was very warm and always available to assist us. The coffee bar connected to the lobby was a perfect place for a quick bite and coffee in the morning to start the day. Great location in the city. We had a vehicle and parking in front for the valet was very easy. Will definitely return!

A quirky, charming boutique hotel in a great location for exploring SF. The staff were really friendly, checkin/out is relaxed and welcoming and there is an excellent bar downstairs and a handy cafe for coffee/pastry to start your day. The rooms have a few nice touches and are a good size. Would love to stay again as it was the perfect base to see the city. Much nicer than the more anonymous large chains nearby at union square.

This hotel is amazing! The staff were so friendly and welcoming, a nice touch was the glass of sangria upon arrival. Great way to start our girl's weekend! We requested rooms close together and were able to get them next door to each other. The location was perfect and so close to Union Square, we were able to walk where we needed and easily hop on the cable car. The hotel had so many great touches, they thought of everything! For example, the TVs even had Google Chromecast if you wanted to stream your own entertainment. The decor was so cool! The hotel/rooms had the best sayings/quotes throughout, including little quotes printed into the carpet outside of your room. I would recommend this hotel to everyone and we will definitely stay here when we return to San Francisco.

My girlfriend & I stayed here for 5 nights last week. Cool, hip feeling hotel. Joi and James at the front desk checked us in and told us all about the amenities we get on request such as a record player and yoga mats, both of which we enjoyed during our stay. Brett the manager was very helpful answering questions as well. The staff as a whole was there whenever we needed them. There's filtered water available on every floor which I loved. The bed was SO comfy, the pillows were like clouds. Great bathroom with Q-tips even! The location was perfect. Heist for breakfast a block away was amazing. 9 minute walk to the Powell St. BART station. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Cleaners forgot to give us coffee and towels one night. Rooms aren't anything exciting or special and we upgraded to a deluxe. TV Chromecast didn't work and TV doesn't have any apps so you're stuck with live TV. Hotel bar is nice but pricey. Toilet paper and facial tissue are as thin as can be.

I probably would not stay again as I think there are other options available for the price paid. The major drawbacks were the really loud toilet flushing system, which woke either me and my partner up at night when we went to the bathroom. Itโ€™s similar to those vacuum sounds you hear in the airplane toilets. The room was also too small, not much space to open the luggage and the lighting was too dim. Was also disappointed with the $29 early check in fee. I thought that could have been waived off. Front desk however was nice and friendly. Surroundings were by and large safe, except the occasional homeless opposite the road next to the 7-11. Just be careful not to wander off west of the hotel too much, as the area gets a bit gritty thereafter.

Absolutely loved my stay at this super cool hotel. The desk staff was always so friendly. There is a great lounge with a bar and snacks; a perfect spot to unwind after a day of sightseeing. The room was a good size and clean. Great shower pressure and nice hot water. Cool amenities like record players brought to your room.

Great hotel, great service, great location. I have stayed at hotel emblem twice and I plan to be back next time Iโ€™m in San Francisco. I love the funky interior design; it makes you feel like youโ€™re staying at a luxury social club. It also gives off a speakeasy vibe. I appreciate that the hotel has a quirky sense of humor which is evident through the signage and art displayed around the hotel. And the hotel smells great, I think they have their own signature scent. As far as the basics, the hotel is clean and quiet, and the staff are friendly.

The hotel bar is a great place to get a cocktail and a snack. Jessie the bartender was so friendly and made an awesome martini. We had a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup which was perfectly toasted and melted cheddar cheese. We have always liked this bar, it was closed for a while, the new remodel is better than before.

This hotel is amazingโ€ฆ. The decor, ambience, staffโ€ฆ it has it all. They partner with local restaurants to provide delicious room service and apps at the bar. The cocktails are on point, and they also have bikes you can check out. I would come back to SF just to stay at this hotel again! Highly Highly recommend!

Excellent service, beautiful rooms and quirky amenities (writing letters home on the typewriter I was given in my room turned out to be one of the highlights of my trip. It was a fun way to keep a record of our adventures). Not tl mention the phenomenal location. Odd that you can only get a refrigerator upon request, but otherwise excellent. Definitely would recommend!

Great location, central to everything. They had a fun trivia night, a nice bar, and friendly staff. Our room was clean and well decorated. It also came with a white noise machine (so nice!), but our friend's who stayed on a lower floor and in a bigger room didn't have one - so I don't think it's standard. The AC kept the room nice and cool, and the bed was super comfortable. Thanks for everything!

Great first impression was at check-in. Really friendly guy at the front desk. We received a room at the side, not street front. While there's no view it was nice and quiet. Loved the funkiness of the decor in our room and the bar. Room was really nicely appointed. We checked out very early and the woman at the front desk was so nice - hard to be perky that early in the morning but she was. Would highly recommend this hotel for location, staff and the building itself. Lots of great restaurants and bars within walking distance.

This was our second time staying at Hotel Emblem. We felt right at home during our stay. The staff was warm and welcoming. So many unique touches to the visit. Donโ€™t forget to grab yourself a fortune cookie in the halls by the elevator! The rooms have been kept in excellent shape and give the modern touch with San Francisco vibes. Look forward to another wonderful visit in the future!!

Excellent staff, arrived at 5 p.m. and got upgraded to Queen size bed. Room was very spacious and floor was quiet. Staff is very cheerful and eager to assist. Location is excellent. Excellent coffee shop on premises. Nice bar and eating area. You can bring food in from the outside. I had a traumatic past six months and it was the most wonderful Welcome Back to San Francisco that I could have ever imagined. Leaving today to a more permanent setting in a San Francisco AIRBNB. Thanks a million to the outstanding hotel staff at Hotel Emblem. As it was raining today, the hotel extended my stay until 2pm at no additional charge. Gusts can also get a complimentary sangria each day of your stay.

Amazing and unique loved our room it was cozy and sophisticated, they offer a lot of amenities Iโ€™ve never seen before like bath bombs and yoga mats and complimentary sangria was nice. The downstairs aswell was very unique the wall book art was very cool and the bar atmosphere was a vibe and everyone is very nice. Iโ€™d come back to the emblem. This was the view from our room not a street view but still I liked to see the nature in the city.

Beautiful hotel with a literary focus. The book nerd in me loved the books stacked everywhere, including the lobby desk, quotes on the carpets and even in the corner of my room. I wish I took more advantage of the Unorthodox Amenity List and the Fortune Cookie jar beside the water in the hallway. Lots to see and do in the area. We didn't have to walk far to find somewhere to eat and/or drink other than the stunning Obscenity Bar & Lounge located on the main floor of the Hotel. Highly recommend for anyone visiting San Francisco.

Loved this hotel - very quirky and stylish with a fab atmosphere throughout. The location was also great & beds very comfortable! A big shout out to Cora on the front desk who made our stay extra special and was always extremely friendly and accommodating each time we saw her!

The rooms are very aesthetically pleasing, the staff will happily provide a mini fridge upon request. The rooms aren't insulated too well from each other, so you may hear your neighbours. Additionally the TV was a bit unreliable in our room, so we just Chromecasted content the whole time. Also experienced an issue where I had to pay ~$1k more than the quoted price on check-in for a week's stay, as a returnable deposit(?). When checking out they were apparently changing payment systems, so instead of refunding the $1k, they tried to ADDITIONALLY charge the final total later when I'd left... Luckily it was a travel card so didn't have that much on it and it was automatically declined repeatedly, still waiting for the refund a couple of days later though.

Nice hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Convenient location in Union Square with plenty of good restaurants just a couple of minutes' walk away. Our room was comfortable and clean, although a little cramped and made rather dark by the window overlooking high brick walls. Lovely bathroom with a great shower.

The reviews are real! This hotel along with their staff are both astounding. Words cannot express the welcoming feeling this place exudes. They have a lounge bar with happy hour, a delicious cafe, valet parking, plus it's located right in the middle of Union Square. Truly could not have asked for a better hotel stay!

Everything about this hotel is great. First, the location is right around the corner from the heart of Union Square. The staff here is unbelievable and they really go above and beyond to ensure your comfort. They offer some of the best and most unique amenities I have ever seen in a hotel. I also absolutely love the beatnik and book theme going on. Overall I would totally recommend this hotel to anyone coming to SF. Thanks for the best stay!
