We reached the hotel late at night and just a note that the road from the BART station to the hotel is pretty steep, you will feel quite dead if you are dragging up a heavy luggage like what we did. I’m glad the room is clean, spacious and sufficient for our needs. I like how they serve free coffee and tea all day and there is also ice machine and water dispenser free to use. Not to mention, the free pastries and cake they serve for breakfast was great too! The staff are really friendly and helpful people.

Very basic hotel yet it's old but with character. My room was clean, the bed was okay. Plenty of hot water in the bathroom, however, no fridge or microwave in rooms. There is a microwave in the lobby which is a pretty chill place. Restaurants all around and you have the cable car on Bush St and Powell. *elevator not in service for heads up.

The location and price were what I was looking for. The room we are in is clean and bright, it is in the back of the building. The elevator is out of order, but that meant we got an upgrade for being willing to walk up 1 flight of stairs. The morning coffee and pastries were good, and the ice and water dispenser in the lobby is a nice touch, there is also a microwave and a little seating area. The room itself is clean, the tub and sink, although immaculate, are slow to drain. Overall we were really happy with the choice. If the cable cars were running normally, this would be a fantastic location, as there is 1 going to fisherman's warf less than half a block away. Sigh, that are still in"training" mode, and so irregular we haven't been able to get on one yet, as they are crowded beyond all reason.

I really enjoyed staying in this hotel. Service was really perfect. Staff were amazing. Free Pastries every morning from 7 to 10. Had a room on the street and no noise at all. Close to union Square and powell street cable car. Walgreens at 1 block. Laundry next door. Room was nice. Really i enjoyed it because the staff was so helpful. If i come back to San Francisco i ll come back in this place. Thanks again.

Exceeded expectations, incredible location, room was very clean, breakfast pastries included every morning, and they were very accommodating of our schedule change! Would definitely stay here again when we come back to the city!

Good hotel and a very good location. Bed is good, bit small for the persons. Breakfast is small but good. Coffee is at the lobby and perfect, also tea included. Around the corner cable car stop all the way to Fisherman's Wharf. Public parking across the hotel for 35 dollar per day. Lotts of restaurants nearby. Rooms are a bid noisy.

The hotel has charm, but the bed was hard as a brick. The shower needs to be updated, along with the heating.

Super nice staff. Elevator was broken, which is why we gave 4 stars. I'm a bargain hotel shopper. And for what I paid for, it worked. No refrigerator in room. I don't think wifi in room either. Parking garage directly across street. $35 for 24 hours. We had to pay an extra $15 for our full size truck. We had a 10 min walk to Masonic. But lots of food and convenience stores all walking distance. Bed was fine. Have had worse. No AC. Had to leave window open and it did get a little noisy. Shower pressure was good. Basic hotel for my basic needs.

I couldn’t ask for more - $100+/per night for Union Square location, clean room, working bathroom, working Wi-Fi, complimentary breakfast and round-the-clock tea/coffee/water! Apart from the loud heating pipes in the room, it really did its job for my 5D/4N stay in San Francisco. Thank You to the gentleman at the reception who was kind enough to offer us takeaways upon our early check-out at 5+am. I’ll be back!

We liked it here: the hotel is clean and well kept, the stuff is very helpful and polite. It's a simple place, but the location is great. We were happy with it.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Comfy beds, clean rooms, friendly staff, grab and go breakfast was perfect. I highly recommend staying here. Bart station was a 15min walk away, cable car, bus and train available there. Or take the cable car to Fisherman's wharf. Plenty to see and do.

8-10 mins walk from Union Square, we found this hotel to perfectly suit our needs. Room was somewhat dated but was large and perfectly adequate. Staff friendly and polite.

The Grant is one of San Francisco,s 'Grand Old Ladies' hotels. Offering a great location near China Town and directly on the cable car line to fisherman,s wharf. The rooms are comfortable and very reasonably priced considering the location. Plenty of restaurants and bars within easy walking distance.

I want to first state that the staff at the Grant Hotel are great! They had a good setup to store our baggage for the day. The room itself was rather disappointing. It looked a bit rundown. The window wouldn't shut (or maybe wouldn't open with the piece of wood there?). The room was consistently warm.

We liked our stay at The Grant Hotel. Our main reason for deciding to stay at the hotel was because of where it was located, very close to the city centre and all of its sights, especially the old cable-cars, which are literally on the next block and no more than 50m from the nearest stop. It took us about 45 minutes, late kne evening to get to the hotel with Uber from Oakland airport which cost €40. The staff at the hotel are friendly, very nice and helpful. Our room was spacious with two built-in wardrobes. Yes the hotel is a dated, a little old fashioned, but it was clean, had free tea, coffee and hot chocolate in reception plus free patisseries in the morning between 7am & 10am, which was a nice little touch. It is what it is, a reasonably priced hotel at the value end of the market.

Exactly has described. Nothing fancy but great location right by the tram line with decent food options near by. Staff were very friendly and the room was just fine for a short 2 day stay for our family. Quiet clean and comfortable

While the rooms were dated, this hotel made us feel safe! When our travel plans got disrupted due to the weather, we booked another night here before moving to our next location. Free coffee and tea 24/7 at the reception! Good keurig machine coffee. And at breakfast hours there was a little pastry pantry you can help yourself to banana bread, muffins, and other croissant and danishes! Not fancy at all but perfect for us. Its a ten minute uphill trek from union square so do prepare for that. With luggages it does take the wind out of you. Price at the hotel itself was cheaper than agoda where we booked from, so do book directly if you can.

Incredible value and very comfortable. It was a great location and the staff were so nice and helpful! The daily cleaning was fastidious and thorough. The neighborhood was convenient and the place had a great amount of charm - from the neon sign outside, to the stained glass windows in the hallways. I would recommend to anyone visiting who wants to stay downtown for a reasonable rate, but still be comfortable.

For the price, this was an excellent hotel! It was on the older side, but my bathroom was updated and worked great for me. This hotel is probably best for couples and solo travelers. It’s also in a FANTASTIC location, and the staff are very kind. My only warning would be about the thin walls (you can hear people’s conversations), but even that didn’t cause any issues for me as people were generally very quiet. And there is even a small breakfast assortment that is offered in the lobby.

The WiFi is very good but not in our room as our room is the last room and the signal is very poor and unable to access to Internet. Overall room is clean and just nice for couples trip. The staffs are always there and friendly. The pastries provided in the morning are nice with many choices of coffee and tea. The hotel also provide free water to refill at all time which is very convenient

I only stayed there for one night! I really liked it! The breakfast was sufficient and tea and coffee are available throughout the day! Wifi is a bit weak and could be improved on!

Can’t really complain too much about the facilities regarding price point and location. We were just there to sleep before taking a early flight. Can improve on communication.

The stay was excellent. I visited last 22nd May. The hotel is well located at prime Down Town location. The hotel very neat and clean . Staffs are polite .. it’s a good 2 star hotel. Muffins as breakfast came as surprise..The only issue is waking slight uphill to the hotel . Else everything is very good ..

Stayed here quite a bit. Nice small clean rooms. Never had a bad experience. I travel to SF once a month for work, I need a room for about 10 hours a day to sleep and drink a cup of coffee. Works just fine and is affordable.

Rooms are clean. Some rooms do not have refrigerators, you must request those rooms. Staff is cool. Location is great; close to China Town, Cable Cars and Market Street. Pastries, coffee, tea for breakfast, included. Ice is available. Small office desk is available. I recommend.
