Hotel G provided a memorable stay but not in the best way. I stayed for 4 nights and on my 2nd night, I found bed bugs. Never encountering bed bugs before, I played it cool. First, I made sure it was a bed bug by looking up various photos on the internet. Second, after finding one initially, I made sure to find more. During the search I found 4 others and took photos. I used a glass cup to capture them and bring it to the attention of the concierge sometime in the evening. The concierge moved me to an upgraded room (the upgraded room wasn't all that special to be honest). The following morning, I followed up with the morning crew concierge and they had directed me to talk to Ricardo who was investigating the room I had been previously staying in. Upon his inspection, I was told that he didn't find anything to which I asked if the previous night concierge had kept/shown the captured bugs. Come to find out that he had toss the evidence. However, I provided the photos that I captured. Reluctantly, the staff at Hotel G believed me. For something as serious as bed bugs in a hotel, I would've believed that they would be a bit more apologetic/have some sort of protocol to put the guest at ease. I had to ask them to wash my clothes as I wasn't sure if bed bugs got into my luggage. I had to ask for available discounts that pertain to my situation. Hotel G did not provide a comfortable stay and made it seem that they did not believe despite providing proof. It's been about a week since my stay from this post and my mind still isn't at ease from the bed bug encounter because I'm not sure if I had brought them home or not. I am not getting much sleep and I am waking up itchy. I have not found anything yet but it would have been nice if Hotel G put more of an active effort in making sure the situation was better handled and taken care of. Overall, I was given an 18% discount for my stay. Which, in my opinion, does not cover the sleepless nights/possibility of bringing bed bugs home. Besides that, the facility was decent. Nice bathrooms and basic hotel layout. The location was great. The staff was nice but also mostly reluctant to help me out with the issue I had encountered.

On 10/15/2021 at approximately 11:00 I was inadvertently pricked in the hand by a used hypodermic needle left by a previous guest, containing a dark brown substance in room 1401 bathroom of Hotel G in San Francisco while skimming my hand along the top of the shower wall. The needle was invisible to me, as the surface is higher than my line of sight. The needle, now stuck to my hand, was pulled from the top of the shower wall and landed on the shower floor when I retracted my arm. Upon looking at my hand, blood was drawn. At approximately 11:10 am my partner and I arrived at the front desk to explain the situation to the person on staff, Ricardo. I was visibly distraught and clearly traumatized. At approximately 11:15 am my partner and I filled out an incident report while Ricardo ordered an Uber headed for St. Francis Memorial Hospital to receive an immediate baseline blood test on the advice of the front desk employee, and later the resident doctor on staff at the ER. I provided a copy of my visit upon return to the hotel. After a long conversation during which hotel staff repeatedly accused me and my partner of scheming, the hotel finally compensated us for the trouble and inconvenience and waived the cost of the room for all three (3) nights. However, I was then charged $3,951.75 by St. Francis Memorial Hospital for my visit to the emergency room. I contacted Hotel G for compensation, however, Hotel G did not reply to several messages via phone, email, and mail. At this point, I have no other means of getting Hotel G's to respond to me. I hope this review will allow us to have a dialogue and come to a civil conclusion.

Avoid this place!! This is not a four star hotel. Spend $20-30 more and get a way nicer place with no headache - They will take as much of your money as they can. They wait for you to arrive and commit then let you know that there is 250+ "deposit". You only get half that money back. The real price ends up being closer to like $200 a night. You could stay somewhere way nicer for that. If you check out late a minute late they charge another $80 or whole day($200) after 2pm. - Hope you like reusing towels. Because you will run out. - Room super small - You won't fit on the bed - Lighting is awful - Floor are unfinished (cracked cement) - Wall are so thin. Hope you have silent neighbors on both sides

The hotel itself was fine. The staff was nice and the rooms were clean. The location has a lot of homeless/druggie presence but it's SF so there's not much you can do about that. My real gripe is that I booked 2 nights for $315 total and when I showed up, they surprised me with over $100 in hidden fees. If I had known, I would've just gotten a more expensive hotel. I wouldn't recommend this hotel solely because of their shady pricing. I will definitely be contacting the hotel and my credit company to see what can be done. EDIT: I have modified my review from 3 stars to 2 based on service. I reached out to the hotel management about hidden fees not showing up until the final receipt and they basically told me to kick rocks. PROTIP: if you do end up booking this hotel, be sure to screenshot the final booking price because they will change it and claim that the hidden fees were always that high.

I stayed at Hotel G during a work trip (primarily given the need for a last minute hotel and the price). Pros: The staff was kind and the bed was comfortable. Cons: It feels like they're going for hipster, boutique hotel vibes but it unfortunately falls flat and feels a bit more run down than cool and antique — it certainly should not be a 4 star hotel. The rooms are really, really dark (at least mine was), the walls are very thin, and personally, I didn't feel as safe as I have in other hotels. As a solo female traveler, I would advise against it but if it's only for a couple of days and you don't plan on spending much time at the hotel, or in the neighboring location, it might be okay.

The hotel looks absolutely nothing like the pictures online. The rooms themselves are so dark and dingy, and very very old. There wasn’t even a wardrobe. I felt that the pictures online were very deceiving and the whole website did not describe the hotel accurately. The website makes it seem like there are several restaurants with many choices when in reality, the hotel is just rooms with a concierge. We were told 24 hours before that the restaurant had just packed up and left so were given vouchers for our breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location is good. Don’t expect anything more than a basic room for over $200 a night.

Called before I booked my room and so glad I did. I get benefits from my workplace so I decided I would utilize those resources to book a nicer room for my vacation to San Francisco. When asking the representative on the phone if the final price of the room includes all the fees she stated I would have to pay the resort fee when I arrive. Which is fine but when I asked for a price breakdown of the taxes + fees vs the resort fee she ubruptly hung up on me. I still am uncertain as to why there were so many fees (in total about $250) attached to that room if they don't include the resort fee (an extra $134 due when we check in). Regardless, due to poor etiquette prior to even booking I will be staying at a different hotel.

I'm really surprised to see the mix reviews for this hotel. This has hands down been the most professional, courteous and accommodating places I have stayed at. My stay is for 4 days & 3 nights and I booked a room with a King bed. They do lock their front doors and have security security present when it gets late which is nice to feel protected. The place is extremely clean, with a brutalism feel too it. Hallways are carpeted but the rooms have concrete flooring and wooden furniture. Very unique, feels a mix between renovated brutal modern. Overall love the aesthetics. The part that made me give this place 5 stars is their service. The room I stayed at has an adjoining room that is connected by a door. The first night there was no issues, second night it was clear how thin the door was. The family next door was talking normally but we could hear them very clearly. I was a bit shy to ask the lobby if there's anything the can do, especially since it was 9pm on a Sunday. Not only did they validate my concerns, but 10 minutes later they had keys for another room ready for me and my partner. They apologized profusely and gave us a free water, which was definitely not needed but greatly appreciated! I did also wake up 4am the next morning panicking because I had left some stuff in the original room and the lady working the front immediately helped me out to retrieve stuff I left. I haven't even checked out yet, but I can say this has been truly amazing stay! Pros + Swift Check In + Locked entrances with security + Complimentary microwave on request + Free in-room coffee pods & tea + Free 24/7 hour wifi + 24/7 access to gyms + Actual blackout curtains (no gaps or light bleeding through) + Absolutely amazing service + There is shared parking with the hotel next door Cons - Room 1207, the tv is extremely slanted. Like it's so bad it's pretty hilarious more than it is upsetting. - Combination of concrete floors and minimal furniture leads to noise traveling, especially between adjoining hotel room doors. You will be able to hear your neighbors talk at a moderate tone very clear. - Wifi is 10mbps If any management sees please extend my thanks to all the staff from reception to cleaning to security and everyone for making my stay from 11/26/2022-->11/29/2022 absolutely amazing.

It was my first time at this hotel and the overall experience was the worst. To begin with, It is ridiculous that you have to pay for parking. The rooms are way smaller than they appear in the photos. The queens looked like fulls to be quite honest. Second of all, as a traveler I am not allowed to have any guests past 10pm! I don’t understand how as an adult paying for a space I can’t utilize the room to have someone over. The front host (David) yelled at me, my registered friend, and guests. What is it this? College??? Regardless of any rule, the manager, David, should not be yelling to paying customers like that. I expressed his behavior but he was being rude and seemed agitated. When I simply wanted to have a conversation. I had to check out in that moment due to the rudeness and ridiculous rules of this hotel. I will NEVER come to this establishment again.

never again, for 3 days construction work just in front of the hotel, very noisy till 3AM. Even on the 9th Floor! The hotel didn't declare anything. The manager of the hotel did not take the time to show up within 4 days although I complained via email about it. The only thing he wrote was basically "sorry for that". There were no real alternatives, another room just aside the elevator, where even the staff said they wouldn't recommend it! I asked for 10% discount eventually, not a single penny was given! Apart from the construction-work it was poorly soundproofed. My neighbor was watching TV till 2 AM, between the rooms there was just a door, so it felt as he was watching in my room. Bathroom was very low quality as well. Finally I moved to another hotel just around the corner, which was much cheaper and much better from a service perspective. I wouldn't recommemd Hotel G to anybody else.

Good location. Rooms are designed to be basic - not for everyone but we liked it. Area was quiet. Beds were comfortable.

Rooms and interior in general is a bit aged . But I really enjoyed my stay here with my GF. It's very close to some great restaurants and shops. The service was great and very responsive whenever we needed something . Will definitely be booking again whenever I return to San Francisco

The facility fee feels like a rip off - a bottle of water, shampoo, coffee in the room and access to the gym are all things that are expected from a hotel, not something that should cost an extra $30 per day. Just charge what you need to charge and don’t gouge patrons with additional fees. Otherwise the place is nice and the staff seemed good.

I had a racist experience at this hotel. I had a friend who was staying here, invite me over and when I showed up (as a brown person), he started asking for my ID and asking me all kinds of questions. Meanwhile, one of my other friends had different people over (who were white) and they did not ask any questions when they brought different guests. I did not expect this type of treatment in my favorite city. I will definitely not come here again.

Cozy look, but needs refinement for cozy experience. Staff were all very nice and spaces super clean. For one night, I made my adjustments for good rest, the bed was 🤗 Improve please: - noisey fridges (i unplugged to sleep) - low fan speed is not quiet - restaurant crew reminded to mouth wash after smoke breaks (gave me a dizzy spell at 9am) - omelet meal needs less salt - "matcha" is not "mocha" - I asked twice to confirm and yet given a mocha.

Nice hotel, renovated to modern design. Hotel G is a prime location centered in the city of SF, just a block away (5 minute walk) from Union Square where most big brand shopping is located. Plenty of food options around the area and only about a 15-20 minute walk (not too steep of an incline) to Chinatown. Check-in is 3pm and after and we called the hotel ahead of time since we had a morning flight into SF, wondering if we can drop off our luggage to hold before the room was available. The hotel staff was welcoming & stated that it would be okay. After arriving to the hotel, we were pleasantly surprised to learn that the room was ready well before check in (around 12pm). Note that is a hotel fee that is not included when booking the hotel - most places do so now so please make sure to review charges ahead of time to be prepared. We received keyless key cards, a complimentary boxed water (lol so Cali - we love it), and two coupons for a drink on the hotel w a purchase of an entree at the hotel’s restaurant/cafe Corzetti. Comfortable & unique stay for the affordable price we paid. We felt really safe in the area since it was close to Union Square where all the tourists gather. We did plenty of walking around at night and buzzed into the hotel (they keep the doors locked 7pm-7am for safety) without any trouble. Did not have to use the cooler/heater much since the temperature was quite regulated in our room. Bathroom/room was clean and neat upon arrival. The bed mattress was comfort and all of the amenities worked as well. The hotel’s interior obviously was remodeled in a historic building so the elevators were a little small/slow to arrive, stairways/halls a bit narrower than usual, some floorboards are very creaky, and walls were extremely thin. You can also hear the commotion and traffic from the streets below, which was expected but surprisingly still noisy from floors 5 and above. There’s an electronic system in the rooms where you can supposedly order food/look at hotel info on. We never figured out how to access those items and instead used the functions for nightlight/clock. The Corzetti restaurant did have a QR code in which we could order drinks/food to-go from our room for pickup downstairs which was nice. Overall, enjoyed our stay!

Its really nice located and nice people with nice service. The room was quite and well decorated and organized. Also you can mirror your mobile to TV which other hotels dont so far (I have been traveling to 5 hotels so far starting from this hotel) Definitely recommend!

  • 2/5 Al 9 months ago on Google
Don’t expect anything extraordinary out of neat and tidy as well as a good location (one or two nights maximum). Wood floor which produce a lot of noise every time you’re walking in the room. Also, you’ll be able to hear the noise from other’s room at night. No water in the room unless you want to pay $6 dollars per bottle. Bathroom with the very minimum elements you could expect in an hotel and fairly small combined shower/bathtub. Overall, don’t expect anything different than sleep in a “comfy” and clean bed for a max of couple nights. We had to wait for the receptionist more than 15/20 minutes to check in. I wouldn’t book it again.

For downtown SF near Union Square, the price and location are good. No frills. Front desk not the friendliest staff. Rooms trying to take on modern flair in an old building.

We stayed here for my 40th Birthday and there staff upgraded us to one of their larger rooms. I couldn't be happier with this hotel, the decor is excellent, the staff are lovely and super helpful and the location is perfect in terms of getting to all the points of interest. It was very comfortable and the parking is brilliant, just drop it next door and they do the rest. I honestly couldn't have stayed at a better place for a better weekend. Can't recommend enough!

Perfect location by union Square and all the upscale shopping stores which helps keep the place a bit safer and cleaner. The hotel staff is friendly and were quick to help with a couple items we needed help with. We stayed in a large room on the 10th floor and while the floors are a bit cold since are are bare concrete, the rugs helped and is better for people with allergies.

This is a nice hotel close to Union Square. The decor is minimal, the beds are comfortable, the staff is friendly, and they do a great job keeping everything neat and clean. For the price this hotel can't be beat.

This was such a wonderful experience. This hotel was conveniently around much to walk to as it was beautiful to stay in. The folks working the front desk were delightful and super friendly, clean rooms, and a gym. Lovely preserved historic site.

This hotel is really nice inside. The lobby smells great and everyone is friendly. Good amenities. Very thick and fluffy towels. Rooms were very very clean. The neighborhood is mildly terrifying so be prepared for that. But overall, I’d say this hotel is great value for the cost.

We got a huge upgrade here which was unexpected but hugely appreciated. Fantastic service, great location and very comfortable stay. Compared to other hotels of similar price, this one exceeded expectations.

Nice boutique hotel in convenient location. Rooms are not very soundproof meaning neighbours are very easily heard and are quite small. Lovely decor and nice old building. Friendly staff.

Best boutique hotel in town! I love every corner of the room, beautiful view and also great service. We stayed here 2 nights and it's walking distance to Saks Fifth Avenue and all the shopping places. Would highly recommend you to stay at G Hotel!

Hands down the best hotel experience I've ever had. The staff was on point, the vibe was outrageous and the penthouse was excellent. They went out of their way to make it an experience to remember and if felt much more intimate than a normal corporate hotel.
