Very cute- perfect location. The staff was very nice! The beds and pillows were comfortable and the ac/heat worked very well and quickly. Knocking a star due to little storage. We stayed for five nights and didn’t have a great place to keep clothes or toiletries. Even if it were open face skinny shelves under the tv area, something like that would be a nice addition. There is a good bench to sit on to get shoes on- we utilized that. If you’re staying for a shorter time then you’ll have no issues. The hotel was very clean as well!!

A great historic hotel with beautiful common areas and lobby. The front desk was very pleasant and helpful upon arrival and during our stay. The proximity to Union Square gives access to many dining and shopping options and is a good hub to access other areas of the city. The staff and service were excellent however the renovation left something to be desired. It is clear that a lot of corners were cut in terms of the refinishing and fit up of the rooms - brand new stone finishes had chips in them, peeling paint in corners and plastic wire chases were disconnecting from the walls. Though aesthetically pleasing, and mostly utilitarian, a number of items in the space did not function as expected. This may be due to rolling out an opening while still under construction, but issues like this should have been caught in deficiency reviews before engaging guests. Nonetheless we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will happily return here as it was overall a great experience with a clean room and wonderful staff who worked to address any issues with the stay. Refillable water bottles, a couple or free drink tickets for the bar and excellent service from valet to front desk will not be forgotten. Look to expect a bit better from the rooms as they iron out the kinks and fix up the hiccups found in their relaunching process. Looking forward to the next visit to San Fran and the Beacon Grand.

We have just spent 2 nights here in the Beacon Grand and the refurbishment is lovely. The rooms still have old world style but a number modern touches (including brand new bathrooms), we stayed in a corner suite which was very nice (and a very good size for San Francisco )and had a great view of the cable car. It was also nice to have fresh air via opening windows. The staff have been excellent in particular Emma at the front desk who went over and above to work with us and help us out with a tour plan and also our checkout as our flight was at an awkward time. The only comment I would have to say is that the noise at night from the street (general traffic and neighbourhood sounds) can be quite loud but the beds were wonderfully comfortable so that helped us back to sleep. We would not hesitate to stay again.

Manager Melanie made my stay amazing. I was there in business & before I could even have an issue, she addressed & handled it. All the staff was so welcoming & attentive. Even with the hotel not completely open yet, I couldn’t really tell on my stay. Another manager Meg, upbeat & fun attitude made my night one night when I was lounging in the bar. Here energy alone could brighten anyone. Lastly the decor in the rooms and hotel was to die for. I felt like I was at home the entire time. I look forward to coming back and staying at this beautiful artwork of a hotel!!!!!!!

The staff are amazing at the Beacon Grand. My husband and I stayed here this last weekend, and from the moment we stepped up to the entryway, we were treated like royalty. The social host welcomed us personally into the lobby, and told us of all the wonderful amenities, and the check-in was lovely and included 2 free drink tickets at the hotel lounge and a beautiful custom canvas tote bag. The rooms have been nicely renovated with beautiful bathrooms, comfy beds, and freshly painted walls with gorgeous wallpaper of a special San Francisco theme, and you even have a special leather-bound writing journal and refillable water bottles (aluminum) for you to take and use as you please. The hotel has always been lovely and classic, since its opening as the Sir Francis Drake almost 100 years ago, but the new owners have taken special care to truly make it a first class establishment. The location cannot be beat, right on Union Square, and the rates are amazingly affordable as they are trying to build their client base. Do yourself a favor and get treated like royalty for a weekend at the Beacon Grand!!

Great location with excellent service, and you can’t beat the price in the city! I would recommend for a few day trip, as many mention it is a beautiful historic hotel but that means the rooms are smaller. The beds were comfortable and they have refillable water bottles making it easy for travelers. The hotel bar has a variety of food from nibbles to full dinner and the cocktails were dreamy in this stunning setting - we frequented a few times during our stay. The valet was quick and the concierge is very knowledgeable. They also have complimentary coffee and pastries in the mornings which was perfect before you head out to explore! The only negative was a hot water issue while we were there on our last day. But it was out of their control and the service to address it was fantastic. Again, location and history is unparalleled! You can pick up the trolley, or walk easily to Chinatown or many other neighborhoods. We felt safe during our stay, and would recommend to others.

My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary! We have had an amazing time with the staff here. The food was amazing! The Executive Chef came out to personally greet and make sure everything was okay. Natalie the HR Generalist was hosting one night and she was fabulous! It let us know that everyone pitches in and no one is beyond making sure this place runs like a well oiled machine. Zack the manager came over numerous time at dinner to ensure we were okay and if we had any questions! The entire experience was amazing and we will certainly be back! The rooms were very clean and the hospitality Staff made certain we were comfortable! The best thing is the hotel is definitely located near all the high end shopping and theres a Starbucks right next door! I cant wait to come back@

The new look and feel of the hotel is really quite special. It’s got old-school class and charm — a given with the building’s storied SF history — but with a modern vibe and amenities that invite a comfortable, refreshing experience. The staff there was very friendly and accommodating, especially Stefan and all the folks working the Lounge. Room was very clean and charming. I had a lovely stay and can’t wait to return there soon!

A Luxurious Stay with Timeless Charm I had the pleasure of staying at the Beacon Grand Hotel in San Francisco, and it was an exquisite experience from start to finish. From the moment I stepped into the grand lobby, I was captivated by the hotel's timeless charm. The historic architecture and elegant decor create an ambiance that transports you to a bygone era of luxury. The attention to detail in preserving the hotel's rich history is truly commendable. The rooms are tastefully appointed, blending modern comfort with classic sophistication. My room offered breathtaking views of the city, and the plush bedding ensured a restful night's sleep. The amenities provided were top-notch, and the complimentary Wi-Fi was a convenient touch. What sets the Beacon Grand Hotel apart is its exceptional service. The staff is warm, professional, and goes above and beyond to make your stay memorable. Whether it's the concierge offering insider tips on local attractions or the housekeeping ensuring every detail is perfect, the level of hospitality is truly outstanding. The location is another highlight of this hotel. Situated in the heart of Union Square, it's within walking distance of iconic landmarks, shopping districts, and delicious dining options. The convenience of exploring the city on foot made my stay even more enjoyable. During my stay, I dined at the hotel's renowned restaurant, and the culinary experience was nothing short of spectacular. The menu showcased a delightful fusion of flavors, and the ambiance added a touch of glamour to my dining experience. The Beacon Grand Hotel exceeded my expectations, and I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a luxurious and unforgettable stay in San Francisco. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a business traveler, or someone simply looking for a touch of elegance, this hotel is a gem in the heart of the city.

The architecture and design of this hotel was beautiful. It felt a little gothic but classy and chic at the same time. The rooms were quaint and well decorated. Very walkable location and there’s a Starbucks directly next door. The gym was do-able, but not the nicest hotel gym ever. Overall good value for the price and location!

I have been meaning to write a review and finally getting to it. Stayed at the Beacon Grand late July 2023 and really enjoyed it. The design was fabulous and energy and vibe was so fresh , clean, and classy. The staff is super friendly and the rooms are really cute /so much character. My room was tiny but that’s expected its’s San Fran-but even though it was small it was still multi functional and they designed it well for the size. I highly recommend this hotel and I will be back!! Also shout out to the chef and manager - they created a custom vegan/mushroom burger for me since I don’t eat meat and they gave me complimentary beverage! Wonderful service and high quality hotel!!!

The rooms are recently renovated and decently sized. They are super clean! The bathroom was small. Bed was so comfortable. Some details could use some work (toilet paper holder didn’t hold, blinds were broken, and so on), but in a great location. The lobby bar looks cool but didn’t have time to check it out. Valet was slow, so be prepared. Parking was expensive ($70 a day). Otherwise this is a decent 4-star hotel.

I had a few nights stay at the GB and it was a positive plus experience This hotel is the former Sir Francis Drake hotel (that I never stayed in) and the hotel still retains that charm especially in the lobby. It really is beautiful to see the tall ceilings and detail in the multilevel lobby area. A good classic SF feel On my particular stay, the front desk staff was super helpful, polite and professional. My room was updated, clean and very nice. Smaller in size compared to something more modern but for a hotel structure this old you have to work with what you have....and it's comfortable and nice Overall, the GB is a nice place to stay and would come back as well as recommended it. Do note that if you are a hotel points person like Marriott Bonvoy the GB is an independently run hotel and is not part of any point/club.

We stayed at the hotel with our entire family for our son's wedding that was at The Conservatory at One Sansome- about a 10 minute walk away. We had a wedding block here of 50+ rooms. We LOVED this hotel. It is beautiful, the staff is fantastic, the restaurant was excellent and the rooms were so nice. We stayed in the Presidential Suite a very large room with a deck- for the many people coming and going to stop in. We would come back to this hotel again for sure. The price was amazing as well.

The Beacon Grand is a beautifully renovated hotel with so much elegance still in tact. The lobby entrance is so beautiful! Our room was a tad small but the luxurious bedding and down pillows made up for that! The front desk employees were so helpful providing us with helpful advice and directions for our first visit to San Francisco. The location is awesome for walking everywhere and/or catching the cable car just steps outside of the hotel. Will definitely stay here again!

Beautiful hotel. Stayed for two nights and service was phenomenal. The location was great right next to Union Square so you can easily walk to stores and restaurants. We genuinely enjoyed our stay. We stayed for our anniversary and upon check in they gave us two drink vouchers for the hotel bar which we utilized on the second night and the drinks were great, they had live piano in the bar with an overall great atmosphere. Felt very comfortable here and cannot stress how good the service is. We will definitely be back!

New remodeled historic hotel. The lobby is beautiful and impressive. My room was nice and large on an upper floor. Nicely decorated with all of the amenities you would want. Love that they have filtered water machines on every floor so you can refill your reusable bottle and ditch the plastic water that’s been shipped across the country or from another country. Also noticed they have nice looking LED bulbs, motion sensor thermostats that set the heat lower or the AC higher when you are out of the room all day! Great energy and emissions saver. Also they had high quality soap, shampoo and conditioner in attractive dispensers instead of these ridiculous 1 ounce disposable ones. I also had drinks in the lobby lounge which was fun and delicious. The rooftop lounge is supposedly reopening soon.

Great room, we were accommodated with early arrival and a small upgrade to get us in the room before 4 pm checking- thank you. Room was small as expected but VERY comfortable. Loved the sheets and the beds that was most important to us :-) Location and safety was great, thank you! Corner Starbucks and cable car stop also on the corner was a huge +. The entry and bar area is beautiful with a lot of space to relax comfortably.

Pros: Great location. Beautiful renovation - from the lobby to the lounge to the library to room decor. They spared no detail and it looks like a hotel that charges double the price. Friendly and accommodating staff. Well priced. Cons: tiny rooms. This would be fine for a single person but a couple is tightly packed here. A very small closet with barely any space to unpack. No robe - with how luxurious the hotel feels - you’d think they’d have robes. The bathroom has absolutely minimal storage space and again is not functional for 2 people. Then there’s the issue of the shower door. It’s half glass and half open meaning it turns the entire bathroom into a splash zone. I had to ask for extra towels multiple times to avoid stepping on a wet floor. No full length mirror in the room.

Beautiful historic hotel! The staff was very friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we had a awesome stay! Be sure to explore and take pictures of all the original flooring and "mail chutes" as well as the grand staircase! Our room was very nice! Loved the brand of complimentary shampoos/soaps. Ect. The bed was very comfortable, awesome TV! Room design was fashionable, Loved the historical aspect. Spent the whole day researching and wondering this Beautiful gem stuck in time

Customer service: Above and beyond Thank you Emma and the Beacon staff for making my stay amazing. Everyone from the door to the front desk were very nice. Pedro thank you for your recommendations, Emma thank you for making my last day in SF well received. All staff encountered were friendly and helpful. Room: two bed classic room Small room, but did not spend to much time there. No robes/slippers. Not much closet space if necessary. Bathroom was clean and nice. There are no mats on the bathroom floor or grip, so be careful may get slippery. Bed is comfortable, linen is soft towels are great. Overall no concerns. Location: Great location for restaurants and accessibility to everything. Trolly right outside the door makes it wonderful. Door men present, felt safe and no concerns during my short stay.

The hotel is full of history, if your quiet you can hear it. The place is beautiful. The rooms are small but it is 100 years old. They are clean and comfortable. The bed was great, slept so well on it. The employees are amazing from the bell hop to the valet, the people working the desk and of course I can't forget I believe her name was Emma, sorry if im wrong, spoke to us about the history. She was so knowledgeable. We were there for a concert at oracle park. So close we walked back. We will be back to enjoy a weekend. They are under construction so some elevators are down just be warned. When they are done it will be amazing. Can't wait to stay again.

Truly a beautiful hotel. I stayed in one of the standard rooms with 2 queen beds. I was on a girls trip with my best friend and we had such a good time. This hotel has amazing customer service. The beds were super comfortable. The attention to detail with every facet of our stay- cleanliness, amenities, beauty and luxury- gives this lovely hotel a 5 star rating from me!

The historic hotel is nicely remodeled and staff very courteous but the room we were placed in was very small (maybe 12 x 16 ft) and the bathroom was tiny. The room was nicely updated but the 55 in TV is placed awkwardly 90 degrees to your bed and very difficult to watch while in bed without straining your neck in the small room. The bathroom has minimal to no room for your toiletries. It was OK to stay for one night but we had booked for 3 nights. We couldn't stay in that cramped for another 2 nights and left. I asked if there were bigger rooms with the king size beds and was told all the rooms were the same size. Don't think we'll come back. We were hopeful with this remodeled historic hotel but ended up feeling disappointed.
