The stay was very convenient and comfortable. The room was perfect for my 4 day stay for a music festival so the bus stop just down the street was perfect and the complementary, single car garage spot was a huge plus. I also liked the kitchen setup. My only suggestion would be to maintenance or replace the oven/stove as it was extremely rickety and had limited temperatures, so it was very easy to overcook or burn food. I’d definitely stay here again.

This is the CUTEST little hotel I've ever seen!! Feel like we're in some little European villa - it's a "getaway" from the area right in the middle of all the fun stuff! Units have kitchens, and are walk up stairs, with plenty of parking in garages beneath the units. Adorable facades, paintings and flowers. I love this spot!! My photos do it no justice :)

A very unique stay with friendly staff! Love the showers here, with great amenities, and appreciate having kitchens in the suites. Only complaint — the rooms facing Lombard st are quite noisy and you have to unlock& lock the garage doors everytime you come in and out with your car.

Was searching for a dog friendly hotel in SF, and eventually stumbled upon this one. The hotel itself is one of the best deals you can get and it has pretty great, well sized rooms with FULL KITCHENS!!! There’s an awesome dog run and the staff and many of the patrons are dog oriented so there is a culture of mutual appreciation of our furry friends here that immediately makes you, the dog lover you are, feel welcome. When I arrived, I was greeted by a friendly dog and was immediately at ease. Then walked into the hotel receptionists Natalie dealing very well with two very difficult customers. Now I’ve traveled the world and I’ve seen many things, one of those things is hotel scam artists. Their the type of people who think everything everywhere should be free, and they’ll say and do some very unkind things to prove this. Natalie, unfortunately for her, was dealing with two of them at the same time. Despite extremely venomous customers, she maintained her calm, was extremely polite to me AND them AND other guests being held hostage by their silly behavior AND my dog and even fed him a treat and gave him a loving pet in between being verbally assaulted by both parties and was able to work with the people trying to push her around and got me and several other customers into rooms, during all this. I really don’t like seeing good people being abused by customers, and I’m really impressed by the professionalism and courtesy she gave all parties involved. The staff here rocks and I’d recommend anyone who is a pet fanatic to check this place out. DOG LOVERS UNITE! .

This place exceeded my expectations! There are so many little touches that feel luxurious: lovely soap, super comfortable bedding, beautiful foliage (there are cascading flowers everywhere!), amazing location, toasters and coffee in the room, private garage for each room. It was so lovely to stay here and I can’t wait to return!

This place is so charming, so quaint and the surroundings are magical. Blooming flowers, vines, garden windows overflowing with green & pink. Just beautiful!! And the rooms are so big! I had a beautiful, huge bathroom, which looked like it had just been remodeled. And I was shocked to turn the corner to see a full kitchen, with stove, refrigerator, microwave, all the utensils, appliances and dishes for cooking, that one would need, as well as a little kitchen table and chairs. Also one car garages to park in! Amazing! I wished I was staying more than one night! But I will be back!! And the employees, full of great stories about history and the generations of owners of this great place. Can't wait to go back!! Oh, and clean, as clean can be!!

We had a great stay at the Marina Motel. The staff and manager were so Nice. The place is Amazing, Beautiful court yard with plenty of Flowers. You can smell their perfume from the street before entering. The room was clean and comfortable. the area is perfect near the golden gate bridge, the marina and the busy street of Chestnut with plenty of bars and restaurants. We highly recommend this family motel. thank you for your hospitality!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Marina Motel and I must say, their digital concierge check-in system is absolutely top-notch. From the moment I booked my stay, the process was seamless and efficient. The digital check-in system is user-friendly and intuitive, making the process quick and hassle-free. I was able to check-in at my convenience, without having to wait in line or go through the usual paperwork. This is a game-changer for those who value their time and prefer a contactless experience, especially in these times. Moreover, the staff was always available to assist, ensuring that the digital process did not compromise on the personal touch that is so essential in hospitality. They were prompt in their responses and went out of their way to make my stay comfortable. The Marina Motel is clearly embracing the future with their digital concierge system, enhancing the guest experience while maintaining their warm and welcoming service. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a hassle-free and modern hospitality experience.

I visited San Francisco last week for a family emergency. I needed a decently priced hotel in the Presidio area and Marina Hotel popped up. The location is very busy… but once you turned into the courtyard it was perfect! Rooms are clean and quaint! I would definitely recommend. Thank you for your hospitality.

We were so surprised with this little garden oasis in San Francisco! We booked thru a 3rd party app and checked in very late, but Brendan at the front desk was more than gracious and accommodating. The room was clean, the kitchen was a nice surprise feature, and the bathroom was well-stocked. The building is old, so if you're expecting a sterile new-build kind of vibe, this is not the place for you. If you love the old charm of San Francisco, don't mind a slight slope on a floorboard, and love surprise gardens, you'll love this hotel.

Beautiful, well kept motel and courtyard. The included garage for parking was a great perk. The only downside was the heating is on a system and all heaters had been given out, so we had to bundle up in our room to stay warm. Otherwise excellent stay! Walkable to the Palace of Fine Arts. Short drive to other major attractions.

One of the best accommodations we have experienced on our cross country trip. It truly was like an oasis. Should we ever make it back to the west coast... I would go out of our way to stay here again.

A great value, great location, very charming place with flowers, vines and murals giving it a unique, colorful feel. You get your own parking underneath your room. This is a full one bedroom. I was surprised at the full kitchen and large bathroom. Key factor: a block away from Chestnut, where I ate and walked all day. Rented a bike so I could peddle all over the Marina. Very clean, although pillows were small and sheets were not the high thread count Cotten I’m used to. Furniture is a little dated, but for the price, I didn’t care. This is a very nice place to stay.

I greatly appreciated the attentiveness of the staff, the location in a quiet place, a stone's throw from the sea and well situated to easily reach the most interesting places in the city. The room was clean, with adequate space for personal effects; the bathroom spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was neither modern nor new, but well organized with everything needed for cooking and good quality cookware.

We reserved two rooms for a business trip. The woman at the front desk was very rude to the point I had to ask her if she was upset with me. Someone else came in to help and they were friendly and apologized for her attitude. At this point we just wanted to check in. We got one room that was supposed to accommodate three folks with two separate sleeping areas. The room was located very close to the street and very noisy. Instead of a living room area, there were two small beds that barely fit an adult and one bed in a private bedroom with a door. This was an uncomfortable set up but we were working and had to make it work. I don't think the pictures on the site let you see this. The other room was a king suite which was much more comfortable, the decorations were outdated but the room was nice and quiet. Make sure not to book with them directly as you can get much lower prices on the travel sites. I called to inquire about this and the same rude woman answered the phone. If you book on google or expedia etc, you will be saving hundreds. It is located close to the Marina which is nice.

We loved the location and having a kitchen was great. I have to say that the pet friendly room didn't seem very friendly when we were told that a $25 per night charge would be added to our bill. I can understand a one time charge for cleaning because of our dog but a $125 for 5 nights when our room was not cleaned once seems excessive. Also, the bed was very soft which might be okay for one person but for a couple it's not great.

Overall, we had an enjoyable weekend stay here. The rooms were nice enough, and it felt very cozy. Lots of nice flowers and plants. Parking was a bit of an issue since there were limited spaces and tight fits.

  • 5/5 Becca E. 1 year ago on Google
Very friendly staff. Helped us with parking and made sure we had everything we needed. Lombard was noisy but that is expected and the room description is clear about the noise. Great location and the building is really beautiful with flower murals and real flowers everywhere! Such a charming San Francisco motel. We loved having a little kitchen!

We love this quaint & super clean motel with a very European charm! Super friendly & accommodating staff. It has free parking and they allowed us to park our car before check-in and take an Uber to tour for the day! The only drawback is that every room is accessible only by climbing a flight of stairs so can be difficult with bad knees.

Location is hard to beat. Close to the Palace of Fine Arts and Crissy Field. Lots of restaurants, a drug store and market within walking distance. Entrance to Presidio is just a few blocks away. Rooms are clean if slightly dated. The courtyard is full of blooming plants. Microwave and fridge in the room. Staff are great, especially Brendan. Some issues with road noise so pick your room wisely. Parking can be difficult if they get busy and there are no really great alternate options close by.

The gentleman with long hair who checked us in was so friendly. He was very fun and talked to us about places to go nearby, and about the show we were in the city to see. Very welcoming personality. Prime location for concerts at the Palace of Fine Arts, just a short five minute walk or so. The enclosed area outside the rooms is beautiful and felt very safe. Being able to park our cars in private garages was incredibly cool and convenient. I also really appreciated that the property was non-smoking, I was not mad at all about going to the corner outside. Kept the place very classy. The rooms are on the smaller side, but for San Francisco in my experience, they were above average size. Very clean and cozy. We got a room with a kitchenette, felt more like a flat than a hotel room which I love.

This is a quiet vintage motel with free parking and a friendly person in the office. A street of restaurants it 2 short blocks away. The small room keeps its 1939 charm. The bathroom has been updated but retains charm. I will return!

We always love staying at the Marina Motel! Very friendly staff, reasonably priced, and always clean. The mature vines and hanging flowers around the courtyard creates a quiet little oasis that evokes the sense of a trip to a simpler place and time.

+ The courtyard is pretty from the outside + The staff were very friendly and helpful! + Rooms were relatively clean + Free parking (although garages area super tight to park in with a medium size car) - Rooms: for the price I paid I expected a much higher standard; This is good for a 2 star motel, but don't expect more than that, despite the price and the fancy names (we took maybe the fanciest "suite") - Air conditioner can be pretty noisy; Streets around can be a bit noisy too, depending on how sensitive you are - While there are way worse areas in SF, it was still not super pleasant going around at night (maybe I'm just not used to this city...) - All rooms have a long flight of stairs before the door, so this isn't accessible and not recommended if you have strollers or just a lot of luggage ~ Close to Chestnut street restaurants, but far from most touristic areas, so depends on preference

Absolutely splendid under-the-radar place right on the corner of Lombard street near the Palace of Fine Arts!! Though it’s on a busy stretch of a busy street, once you pull into the enclosed courtyard, it’s like crossing a portal into a far more peaceful dimension - it is WAY quieter than you can imagine given its location! Each room has its own garage with locking door (though you might not get the garage adjacent to your unit). You do go up a flight of steps to get into your room, so the space is definitely not handicap accessible. The courtyard itself is decorated with absolutely lovely displays of a variety of flowering trees, bushes, and other plants, and is spotless. The room we stayed in was immaculate as well. Very clean, comfortably appointed with couches plus a small table and chairs, a small kitchen area with sink, moderate sized fridge, microwave and coffee maker, then the bathroom and bedroom. The bathroom is wonderfully retro in style but modern in its amenities. The bed was clean and incredibly comfortable. The motel is located a very short and easy walk to the aforementioned Palace, Marina Greens (with a beautiful view of Golden Gate Bridge), and countless restaurants, pubs, cocktail lounges and bars. Easy access to Uber/Lyft and public transit. Pet friendly! We’ll definitely be back!

This motel was fantastic! The garage, the rooms, the location are fantastic. I felt safe! It's close to the Golden Gate, Presidio, and Palace of Fine Arts. Great restaurants are nearby as well. The staff is wonderful!! I saw windows in the rooms being cleaned and comforters being washed. Staff to tend the flowers and clean the public areas. Any issues are resolved friendly and quickly.

The place was quite nice and very conveniently located in the city. It was a nice walk or a quick ride to all the main places we came to see. The room was spacious and clean and had all the amenities we needed. The staff were friendly and accommodating. It is right in the core of the city so there were many homeless on the streets so we ensured we were very aware of our surroundings while walking the neighbourhood. We'd stay here again.

This Motel was such a beautiful place to stay in. If you like a vintage feel this is definitely the place to stay and it is pretty inexpensive if you book ahead of time, with a nice view . Having your own garage right under your room and being able to lock your car in is a big plus!! It’s like having your own apartment, with the independent entrances, private garages, and kitchen. My only suggestion would be: remodeling the bedroom area( beds & carpet) will be a great addition.... All the flowers and plants around the courtyard make you forget about the smell inside the room...

The Marina Motel was such a great find. I stayed there for a total of 8 nights recently and everything about the experience was wonderful. The rooms are very clean and cozy and the people that work there are very friendly and helpful. There are individual parking garages that come with the rooms so this is a good place to stay if you have a car. The location of this place is within close walking distance of many amenities including good restaurants. I absolutely plan to stay at Marina Motel in any future visits to San Francisco. I highly recommend this place. If you stay at Marina Motel you will not be disappointed.

Great location close to the Presidio and 1 block from Chestnut St with lots of restaurants. Our room in the courtyard was much quieter than rooms on the street, however, there was still street noise which woke me. I have deducted a star due to the bed, which was overly soft, and not very comfortable. The bed would make me think long and hard about staying here again, although I loved the location, the charming courtyard and the free parking in a covered garage.

  • 5/5 margaret e. 2 years ago on Google
Great stay. Beautiful flowers all over the courtyard. All front desk people super friendly. I was very surprise that it was so quite ( My room was in the center court yard) I'm not sure about the rooms facing Lombard St. Short walk to the Marina, shops and resturants .

We booked this room for our San Francisco get away. It looked local and quiet! The Marina is a fantastic gem! Built in the 30's and still in bussiness! That says something! A little street noise during the day, but nothing like you would expect. Our room is a step back in time! This is a good thing! With the modern stuff you would expect. T.V. ,coffee maker, microwave and fridge. What else do you need on vacation?

  • 5/5 Jennifer K. 2 years ago on Google
Charming, cozy, friendly, affordable — our stay at the Marina Motel was amazing. A hidden gem behind an unassuming street view, the courtyard garden is an incredible surprise. It’s like a boutique European-style motel with comfy rooms at a super reasonable price. Close to shops, restaurants, bus tour stop, and more — and as two women staying there, we felt very safe. A+ trip, would highly recommend.

This place is so cool!! It feels like it should be a historical hotel, it’s beautiful and the grounds are so pretty with flowers and beautiful landscaping. Not in a bad part of town either, lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance parking was a little bit difficult but that’s how it is in the city. Most of the rooms have a full kitchen with a gas stove. Really cool place. The rooms are small but the price is just incredible versus other chain hotels in San Fran.

  • 5/5 Amber M. 2 years ago on Google
Very nice stay and friendly staff. The room was very clean, and the bathroom. The bed was the best part as it was so comfortable I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. The outside of the hotel is gorgeous with numerous pretty and bright flowers. It is walking distance to a lot of restaurants and bars, but also very nice quiet area.

  • 5/5 Alexis M. 2 years ago on Google
Great location, walking distance to so many great sites and dining. Beautiful courtyard with individual guest garages, and the room was cozy with great amenities (fridge, coffee maker, microwave) and small, but updated bathroom! Will stay again!!
