budget-friendly accommodation with a vibrant atmosphere. The hostel's central location makes it convenient for exploring the city's attractions. The staff is friendly and welcoming, creating a comfortable environment for guests. The communal spaces are well-maintained and provide opportunities for socializing with fellow travelers. Overall, Orange Village Hostel is a suitable choice for budget-conscious travelers looking for a lively and well-located place to stay in San Francisco. ps, while the area has alot of homeless and seems like unsafe, people wont bother you and approach you. Imagine Malate, Makati & Baguio combined thats the vibe of the area.

This hostel has its good points, but its bad points overshadow them. The staff were friendly and accommodating, which was the highlight of the stay. Unfortunately, the place itself was old and rather cramped, with limited hot water in the showers. The main issue, however, was its location. It is situated in an area with a large homeless population, making it unsafe for those travelling alone, especially women. Overall, I would not recommend this hostel. While the staff were friendly and attentive, the place and its location were not up to par. It may be worth considering other hostels if you are looking for a safe and comfortable stay

Absolutely not accessible for those in wheelchairs. Stairs only to get to the kitchen, laundry and loungeroom. No solution offered. Absolutely terrible service. No care, No responsibility.

I don't know why this is a 1 star hostel. It's great for J1 students and other long term tenants! Free Wi-Fi, breakfast every morning, kitchen, lounge, organized activities, much diversity, friendly staff, you name it! And all at a cheap price. I like it here :) It's an affordable option though, it has shared bathrooms and showers, which might not be for eveyone. Booking a stay is also tough during summer. There's also no view from most rooms, and it gets really hot inside.

They're transphobic. The only time I was forced to sleep in a boys dorm the whole time I've been in San Francisco was the one night I stayed here. If you are trans, boycott this place. If you support transpeople, boycott this place. Otherwise it was clean which is different from the other hostels I've seen. I didn't try the shower though.

No frills, for a budget traveller who just needs a basic and simple room it is totally fine. There’s also a free breakfast on offer which is a nice little addition. Great location. The area is a little sketchy after dark - just keep your whits about you. Would stay again!

It's a building with more than 50 years. No much maintenance, but it's incredibly clean, always. It's not the same thing. The carpet may be the same of the construction 50 years ago. The people staying there are a very weird mix between young travelers, working, and old people drinking wine in a Starbucks cup. The kitchen is wonderful, you have averithng to cook, but there not plates, glasses, spun, fork or a knife to eat, that's really sucks. The bed is very comfortable, and the whole building have an excellent heat calefaction. I give two stars becouse my last night there, I saw many rats having fun in the living room.

Mixed feelings about the location: close to downtown but part of the street is not exactly nice. Overall, the staff is helpful. The bathrooms are really small and they charge you if you want a bigger towel for the shower.

The most cleanest hostel I’ve ever been to. The staff is amazing and always welcoming to every guest. I love the location of the hostel and the fact that it has an elevator (which is something quite rare to find at most hostels).

PLEASE DONT STAY HERE ITS NOT WORTH IT!!! My family and I stayed here thinking it was going to be amazing until the guests harassed us and the staff joined in. They break lots of laws and don't care.

Orange saved our vacation. It was a last minute reservation(not my best idea). Booked three nights for an affordable price compared to other places. Queen size bed, clean, comfortable room with bathroom. Would highly recomend. (Picture was after the stay)

Stayed in a private room for a night. Very nice room for a great price compared to the nearby hotels. Staff was very nice and helpful. Right next to a convenience/liquor store, right around the corner are great thai and breakfast places, and there's a dispensary down the block (plus tons of other places we didn't get to). Short walk from subway and Chinatown. Seems pretty safe and there's always a few guests working quietly in the lobby. No AC, but they provided a fan and we slept fine. If we go back to SF, we would absolutely stay here again.

Great hostel for a great price! Very handy location, short walk away from BART and trams and shops. Was told tenderloin isn't the safest place but had absolutely no issues. The staff were really nice and welcoming. The private rooms were so nice for a hostel, came with a mini fridge, wardrobe, sink and TV. There was a fan with was absolutely needed as it got really hot at night and our window didn't face a street so little to no air coming in. The beds were so comfortable!! The kitchen and laundry room were great and fully equipped. Would absolutely stay again.

Overall great little hostel, friendly staff and close to attractions. Not alot of bums near the hotel, either way they are harmless and do not bother you. It's actually nice to have someone to give leftovers too. Breakfast is decent but room gets packed quickly.

It is very clean and tidey place. The staff and works are nice and their appearance is laid back. For the price its worth the good nights rest but if you are expecting t.v.,pool,and morning breakfast bar you will have to go somewhere else and pay and bunch more money. Thanks for my great stay so far and look forward to the rest of my future adventures and nights with orange!!!!!!!

Inexpensive, Nice new kitchen, but Covid restrictions don't make for easy sharing. Convection stoves I think? (gas cooking is the newly prohibited behavior in SF, and wisely so.) No communal space, so you better hope you got the best roommate on the block or you are going to be short some down time. Definitely a good choice in best of times, but may or may not work under restrictions.

The room was very clean but my friend got catcalled in the lobby by other guests. Also, we got almost no rest because there was loud music in the street until 3am

It's OK with a particularly good breakfast but last time I stayed here I've felt grossed out by the smell in the room. Could be mold or even bed bugs. Also dust just scattered as I gathered my sheets before check out. Cleanliness isn't a priority here.

Showers kinda lame, creaky beds, I think the price is a little high compared to some hostels. Overall very good, free breakfast, still a value even though they aren't as cheap as other hostels with better showers and quiet beds in dorms.

Unfriendly and rude employee. I ask prices she try to trick me. 1000bucks for a week. And she does not even show the rooms. Location is almost in homeless area.

Good to meet the other guest in the breakfast room or at the hostel activities. Close to the city, so perfect for a short city trip.

Friendly staff, efficient processes, clean. Kind of a rougher neighborhood surrounding the hostel. Close to Japantown. Dorm beds are 4/room and run about 40USD per night after taxes/fees. Refundable $5 key deposit upon departure. Wouldn’t accept US passport as ID, but state driver’s license works

Double room.with ensuite, fridge and microwave. Central location, good security. Excellent free breakfast. Kitchen is small for the number of guests. Would certainly stay again

We had a nice stay here overall. The room was a good size and bathroom as well. It was a bit noisy with our room right off the main street and a few mornings we had rough greetings from some of the homeless but the location was great.

Great staff, the receptionists were nice and accommodating, always welcoming me with a smile. The manager Alice is a professional, she was always there to help, answer questions or solve situations. Breakfast is very good and location is amazing. Thank you, Orange Village!

Comfortable stay, for the most part. Staff is really accommodating and friendly. We booked a private suite and were able to get extra keys, leave luggage, and even arrange to have the front desk let in our friend with a late flight. Clean and affordable accommodations.

Do not stay at this hostel! I was overcharged $107 and the angry manager who poor english refused to refund the money. A horrible Christmas experience.

I didn't have high expectations but I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable of a stay I had. The staff are lovely and the facilities are pretty decent for the price. The location might be off putting for some but I liked the proximity to the Powell station.

I’ll be honest. This hostal is a really great place to stay if you are planning to explore San Francisco around. Arnel (the receptionist) is AWESOME; such a great individual who is willing to help and give you advice about great places you can go to. The dorms are okay, no A/C, but it is fine, because San Francisco’s weather is not that bad. Breakfast is okay, very helpful. You also get to meet great people! Restroom’s are okay (of course shared but there are plenty ALL AROUN the building. The place is very centric (everything is close) and didn’t feel dangerous at all even though you do see a lot of homeless people around the area. Good come back 10/10

They put me in a dorm with some crazy guy then they tried to lie about housekeeping cleaning the room

Well I loved it was cleaned up .. was quiet ..and in the tenderloin .. but no tents by .. theater district. Close to everything .. be sure if your a disabled prior plan ... I had a dorm room. Which are nice ..but the only bunk was a top .. they helped me out a lot by getting me a with private bathroom for a little more .. but they accommodated me to get a bottom Rocky start but a great finish

This hustle wasn't too bad. My sleeping quarters were fine and the roommates were nice. My only issue is that my last night I realizye there was no soap. This means that if those girls were not clean girls, they just never washed their hands after using the bathroom. That's so disgusting! So you're better off getting a room without a bathroom so you don't have to deal with that nonsense! The luggage area is also not secure. When I went to store my luggage after work, I noticed the luggage storage room was open and the attendant that was working in the office was facing the other direction with his headphones on making copies. His back was completely turned to the luggage storage area which had the door wide open. Besides those two issues they had a walker for you to store your things but you have to bring a tiny luck because a large lock will not fit on the lock hole. the bed wasn't that comfortable so I would bring a Topper or just use the blanket on top of the mattress. They also cut the plastic on which was very noisy. It was surprisingly clean except for the fact that there is no soap like I mentioned earlier.

Clean, quiet, and they had a really great outlet layout. I liked that the entrance was secure and monitored 24/7. There is so much right by here that the location was great. We stayed here while in town to see Cursed Child. We didn't get down for the breakfast but it was nice to have that as an option.
