I actually enjoyed my stay here. Came here to save some money and was happy with the room and bed we had. It is a simple layout, with a comfortable bed and bedding that made me want to never leave the sheets. The room also had 1 big window that kept the room well lit during the day. Also includes a TV, sink and mini fridge which is convenient to have. The shared bathrooms were not the best conditions but overall SAFE and comfortable to use. There were no "shady" people within the building and actually very quiet at night. The BAD thing I would have to say is definitely the area. If you can manage to deal with the crazy amount of homeless people on the sidewalks and the sounds of a troubled soul at night from a distance, this place is for you. My partner and I took a 10 minute walk to a very nice grocery style Walgreen. The better areas are definitely not too far away if you must walk and grab a drink or food. If you are a smoker, smoking inside the gated doorway was pleasant and felt safe.I would highly recommend this place to someone who wants to save money!

Compared to many of the other hotels in the area this is very good value. The room comes with a mini fridge, with TV and a sink. For toilets or bathrooms you're going to have to go out into the hallway. in either case if you just staying here for a short time this is no big deal at all as you're not spending much time in the room and the beds are comfortable with plenty of outlets. Issues I had where that the front desk was often unstaffed and the area really is quite rampage with homelessness and drug use. It's only for a couple blocks though so if you can bear with it then you should be fine. There's a police station right behind the hotel just in case.

Place is nice, always people in the front desk, clean rooms, and room supplements were available. Location is not that great, many homeless people just outside the hotel, on the street! Didn't feel comfortable walking in the night in the surrounding area.

Friendly staff , but they have stay in tenants that are just disgusting. I was killing roaches the entire time i was in my room . after out site seeing alldat and swearing i wanted to take a shower but the bath rooms were so disgusting (shared bathrooms) like they never cleaned them . also if you are not used to mass amounts of homeless and the smell of piss you wouldnt want to stay there. The streets are covered in homeless and drug addicts with needles laying everywhere.

The hotel is located on an especially sketchy section of Ellis Street in the infamously sketchy Tenderloin, so my expectations going in were tempered, and I prepared myself for the worst. But I was pleasantly surprised by ....well, just about everything. Clean, spacious room....clean, crisp linens....clean, well-maintained bathrooms....clean, quiet hallways....and all at an uber-reasonable price. It seemed almost too good to be true. The $250 deposit they ask for is a little high, but I would imagine it prices out much of the riff-raff, so I'm okay with it.

Nice place for the cheap price. You get what you pay for. Spring for the room with the private bathroom as the shared bathroom was always nasty morning and night. Lots of homeless on the street outside but that is expected in the Tenderloin area. They never bothered us during the day or night. Staff was super nice and friendly. We walked everywhere so it is close to all the attractions.

So far I am giving this Hotel a 4 star due to its location and accessibility to lots of great tourist areas. The price for a private room with its own shower/restroom was the best in town as well. Although there is lots of noise and undesirable events, I am able to adapt. Depending on the outcome of the next days, this rating may change.

The room and the sheets were clean. It was inconvenient to have to get dressed to go to the bathroom at night, since there was no toilet in the room, but we knew it when we made reservations. We also knew about the homeless people on the streets and we didn't think we would have a problem with that, however, if I had to do it all over again I would have never stayed in the Tenderloin area. Just walking a few blocks there woild ruin my appetite for hours. The stinky smell was overwhelming. There was poop on the sidewalks and I don't believe that all of it was dog's poop, some was probably human. Sooo many people literally live on the streets there, in tents and most frequently in sleeping bags. The city government must do much more to help those folks; I heard it's not easy to get into a shelter in San Francisco. Just a very sad (and very smelly) situation. :(

Get what you pay for I suppose. No roaches or anything but the bathrooms and toilet rooms were always wet and the neighborhood was pretty rough, but that's not on the hotel it's on the city. Room was tiny but had a mini fridge, but just a sink in each room. We knew that when booking it. It was just a sketchy spot.
