I read reviews before I booked knowing it could be a gamble. Happy to report I am satisfied. Was was clean and looked modern. Walking distance to beach was another positive. I will definitely be booking in the future. My daughter attends SF state and this hotel location is great, especially for someone who gets anxiety in traffic.

Will not stay again. While the room was upgraded, the front desk staff was abrupt and rude. There was no continental breakfast, as the website stated, and when asked about it the reply was extremely rude. The best thing about this place is the proximity to the zoo and the amazing people at George's Zoo and Deli.

We had a fabulous stay at Mirage Inn. The managers Sam and Mary were such amazing hosts. Mary double checks personally after house keeping cleans between guests to assure sanitation standards are met. The rooms are newly updated and remodeled. Clean and fresh. Walking distance to the SF Zoo and to the beach. George's Zoo Deli next door and Java Beach Cafe was added bonus. We are return guests and we will keep coming back to the City and stay with Sam and Mary. Thank you Sam and Mary for making our visit so lovely.

The room was pretty great. Seems like lots of remodeling has taken place. Very close to the beach. The lady at the desk left a lot to be desired. It would be beneficial for her not to be so rude. Not sure if she didn't understand our questions or if she is just generally a miserable person. Recommend the hotel, don't recommend the staff.

DO NOT STAY HERE. If I could give them negative reviews I would. I tried to check in at 1am and the guy at the front wouldn’t check me in to a room that was already PAID FOR because I recently got divorced and my last name was different than the reservation even though I have 3 credit cards under the same name, I had the phone number on the reservation and the card used yet he still refused to give me the room without of course suggesting first that I pay for a second room. When I refused he told me he wouldn’t service me and to “fuck off”. This place is extremely dirty and scammy, they just want their money without having to do anything. DO NOT BOOK HERE!!!

This hotel had many pro’s and con’s to it. Basically you get what you pay for with this stay. Pro’s are, it was a beautiful room. Very modern. Right across the street from the zoo. Ocean is a short 5 minute walk away. Bathtub is very nice if you’d like to take a bath. The corner store next door is very convenient & the owner of the store is very nice! If you have ever stayed in San Fransisco you know how hard finding parking is, so I really loved that this place had on site parking! Con’s are the reasons I won’t stay again. The bed is AWFUL. The mattress is the hardest mattress I have ever slept on. And the pillows have no comfort ness to them at all. The room we were placed in had the window right by the entrance so if we wanted the window open everyone could see us and we could hear everybody coming and going. Which I understand that someone has to be in that room, so that isn’t a big deal. Water pressure is low. The shower head is one of the rain ones. So there isn’t much pressure. The towels. The towels made me the most upset. You are given two body towels, two wash cloths, and two hand towels. I use 2 towels when I shower; one for hair, one for body. So I asked for a third towel, because my fiancé needed his own towel. They refused. Said that each room is only allowed two towels, so if we want another one we need to swap it out. Breakfast was closed due to Covid. Again; not a big deal because there is a breakfast place next door and a convenience store on the corner. Office staff was nothing special. Not rude, not nice either. Kind of gives off the vibe that you are bothering them when you check in. Barely ever actually at the window. Outside is not pretty, at all. Carpets throughout the hallways and such are stained and old, but inside the room is all wood laminate so that’s not a big deal. Hope this review helps someone!

don’t come to this hotel. It is the worst I promise you guys. There was hairs all over the place, the floor was so scratched, and the blankets were stained. On top of that, they have the worst customer service ever. I they have so much attitude, I ask for a receipt and the guy who was working there did not want to provide one. After I told him I wanted one multiple times, he literally almost threw the paper at my face.

The absolute WORST customer service on the face of the planet! If you have any questions be prepared to basically be yelled at for asking. Also, be sure that you do not have any issues when paying because you'll be told that if your method of payment isn't "simple" it can't be done. I booked a room for a friend and called to make sure everything was fine and was yelled at saying I need to change the name on the reservation through "whatever site I used to book the reservation." After I asked for clarity, the front desk person realized that I made the reservation through their very own site. They never even asked me how I booked the room, nor did they properly check the reservation before yelling at me and snottily explained to me that they don't get paid for reservations made through other sites so I need to deal with "them." I got a short apology but the yelling on the phone continued. Then there was an issue with my card going through so I used another card just so that the room can be issued. Sorted out the original card issue (forgot to activate my new card) and called back to use the preferred card (which was the original card used to make the reservation. literally no more than 15 mins later). Got yelled at by the new front desk person who admitted that they didn't know how to trade out the card. Again, a soliloquy about who was being charged what for this and that and an emphatic "NO I cannot" was exclaimed my way with a dash of "this isn't my hotel" which I think meant they didn't have the know how to deal with this situation. It was an unbelievably shockingly rude experience. They go from 0 to 100 in a flash. I've had to deal with these kinds of payment situations at other hotels and it's never been a problem. But it was a huge problem here. Wow. I've always wondered what this hotel was like and now I know. Stay here at your own mental health risk. Very unprofessional, unhelpful, rude and inexperienced.

The Manager at front was about the rudest person I ever meet. I booked through Expedia, and booked wrong dates. Expedia tried calling and calling to change my booking and the Manager ignore phone calls and email, instead telling me to leave the property. I will never stay here ever.

This hotel is great, especially for the price! Our room was perfect. We were right on the corner on the street. When we opened our window we could see the ocean! Such a great location and the owner was very nice! I would definitely stay here again! (I’m definitely going to) Only complaint is the idiots above us that were very loud at all hours of the night but we got through it! Lol. I made sure to call their room a few times nice and early to wake them up. 😁 Thank you for a great stay Mirage Inn and Suites. Just what our family needed. ❤️

I booked this hotel because I was attending outside lands and didn’t really have many other options. I hoped for the best but the first night my bf and I noticed a strange noise coming from the bathroom and found a leak and water bubble right above the shower head. In the morning I told the lady at the front desk about it thinking they might change our room or something since we were staying two more nights but she very curtly told me she already knew and that a guy was supposed to come that day. So I’m pretty sure they gave us a room knowing there was a leak that would drop water right above that shower and they didn’t even apologize for the fact it was there in the first place. She was really unhelpful and no one ever came to fix it or even update us on the situation. I wouldn’t spend more than one night here if you are desperate , the location is great but I did not feel cared for as a paying customer of this establishment. For your own sake though I would recommend you stay away from this place. (Never wanted or asked for a “better view” they’re probably mixing me up with another customer who was also probably rightly annoyed at them, just a room with a shower that didn’t make me feel unsanitary and was a literal HAZARD, I think their response just proves my point)

Dirty converted Days Inn. Stains on carpet and smells like mold. 3 flat pillows on a king bed. Asked for late checkout on a Tuesday and they said no. Spend an extra 20 bucks and stay somewhere decent.

I was a bit nervous to stay here after reading the reviews on how nasty the owners were, so I was pleasantly surprised when we were checked in by the owner who was a pleasant and helpful gentleman. The room was newly renovated and spotless. The location is convenient for the UCSF Parnassus campus, as well as the Zoo and the beach. I would definitely stay here again. The cafe next door offers awesome coffee and breakfast foods.

Rooms are clean, beds are comfy, bathrooms are nice, the cleaning staff are very friendly, there was a fridge and microwave in our room, great location to zoo and beach. Ok location to Golden gate park (I'm a country girl) too many stop signs between hotel and park (not hotels fault....just giving info) I noticed 1 morning when I was heading out that a room across the hall had like a little living room with couches, looked really spacious and nice. I read reviews about owner/managers being rude..... a man did come out and yell at us when we parked in the check-in spot, but once we explained that we had lots of bags to unload and would move after he said ok. Same man was at front desk when I checked out, wasn't over friendly but nice enough. We work music festivals so I would stay here again the next time we come for OSL & HSB.

Beautiful clean rooms. Great staff and service. Awesome prices. Absolutely NO problems with this place. It's 14 miles from the city. But it's waaay more peaceful. It's like a 3-5 min walk from the beach. I absolutely love it and I will definitely return soon.

The Indian man at check in quoted me $175 for a room with either a king or two doubles. When we checked out he charged me $225 and said that the double bed room was more. He lied and wouldn't back down. I call that rude and I would NOT recommend staying there -- unless you book online or get him to write down the price you are going to get charged. Otherwise the room is updated and nice, but that behavior is not cool.

The pictures were very deceiving. Nothing like I expected. It's not a hotel, it's a motel. There is nothing close by except a liquor store across the street. The worst part is the man at the front desk. He is not helpful at all and extremely rude. I would never recommend this MOTEL to anyone!

The hotel was beautiful, staff was so nice and the ocean is a short walk away! I love that there is a coffee shop on the corner and a Plant nursery. The room key with the San Francisco golden gate bridge is adorable. Thank you for being lovely stay!

VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED. At 9:50pm and approximately 3 minutes after booking on Priceline, I phoned the motel to confirm my "Non-Refundable" reservation. The man who answered the phone (with a very unwelcoming voice), asked "When did I make my reservation?" and tells me they "lock the front door at 10:00pm and I will not be able to get my room key". When I sound surprised, he says, "We are not a 24hr front desk"...Really? It is only 9:50pm!!! At 30-45 minutes away, I was forced to call Priceline to plead my case for a Refund and get a room elsewhere...PATHETIC EXPERIENCE!!!

Manta at the front desk was great to deal with . She let me park my hot rod in front of the office so she could keep an eye on it and put me in a room real close so I could too. When you first walk in the hallway the carpet is worn and it looked like they were updating them. When I walked into the room I was amazed it looks newly renovated. The bathroom was clean and all new. The bed and the heating unit was new also .

Located right across the street from SF Zoo. Underground parking for 20 or so vehicles. Quiet and comfy. I enjoyed my stay and would stay here again.

No more breakfast included, hallways are disgusting with stained carpets even if they refreshed the rooms, the rest just is not on the same level. Also the owner looks very grumpy and not disposed to help you. For the price you can get way better.

This hotel has had some renovations in recent years. We've stayed there because of the location ( near to San Francisco family members ) and because it is affordable. The rooms are very nice-- basic but clean and comfortable. The common areas are run down shabby and dirty. The woman at the front desk is EXTREMELY RUDE. She was hostile when I asked her a question and actually began to yell at me... If you can avoid the staff, you might want to stay here.

Terrible experience with the female manager at check in. My elderly roommate paid online for a couple nights at the motel and I walked him over there to ensure a pleasant and safe trip to the hotel. I often accompany him to appointments or help him shopping, make his phone calls etc. (because he doesn’t speak very good English) The manager approached me Guns blazing demanding my ID while I was gathering his documents helping him check in. I notified her he paid online already and that I was aiding him because he is disabled. She refused to help him until I left the property. Shocking. It wasn’t an absolute necessity that I had to help him check in, just a courtesy as his aid, he became uncomfortable so I told him to check in to avoid the complication. Her behavior was ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. We were disrespected giving them business. Can’t recommend the motel under its current management. Worst service I’ve ever seen.

2/5 stars. The hotel itself was not in bad shape. The rooms seemed updated & were clean. The shower wasn’t letting out hot water. The water was warm but not able to get hot. Sf is cold at night, so after a long day we looked forward to a hot bath. The hallways and stairs are a little outdated and dirty. There was no elevators that we knew of so we carried our stroller up and down each time. We stayed 4 days and 3 nights here. After the first night the nice housekeeper gave us towels without hesitation. She was very nice. The third night of our stay however, I went to the lobby at around 9:30pm to ask for towels. Mind you we came on a family trip. We weren’t going to stay in the hotel and wait around for housekeeping to come to ask for towels so we used our last ones and decided that when we were back that evening/night we would ask for new ones. Lobby hours says closed by 10pm but to use guest key to get in. I rang the bell four times. The rude lady was mad. She told me it was my responsibility to ask the housekeeper for towels when she comes by to clean out other rooms. I asked nicely for 4 towels since we would be leaving the day after and there were 3 of us. She declined my request and gave us 2. She was extreme rude. Maybe being a hotel manager or owner isn’t in her line of work. Her husband or brother checked us out the next morning. Same thing with him. Rude. Over all, this hotel location is great if you plan to not be in a very “traffic environment”. The zoo is right across the street and Ocean beach is only a 7 minute walk. There is no free breakfast. Parking is free and it’s in a garage. But if you don’t have the patience to deal with a rude management don’t stay here.

The rooms are basic and clean with a great shower, ok beds and pillows, well bring your own! Lol. Location is everything! Gorgeous pacific beach a few hundred feet away and the scenery awesome! Owners/managers are curt, not friendly, and ...well, if one can not take that personally, then the room and location all worth it!

  • 1/5 Alex B. 1 year ago on Google
The person at the front desk was rude checking us in and to another party checking in before us. The cleaning staff was nice and the rooms are decent. Wouldn't have booked at this location if I would have checked the reviews.

  • 4/5 Dave H. 1 year ago on Google
First off, the parking is NOT for full size trucks and don't take a van down there. The hostess was extremely rude and there was a mix up where they gave us someone else's room. That said, the room was very nice and very clean. Don't let the outside fool you. This place is worth it for the room. However there are no amenities at all. No pool, hot tub, nothing. Its only a couple minute walk to the beach and the zoo is across the street though so that isn't a big deal at all. Prepare to drive a bit for food though.

The website and the person I spoke to when booking said there was a continental breakfast. However that was not the case and the manager became quite defensive when challenged; claiming they changed the advertisement on Expedia and Booking, so it was my responsibility to inquire when checking in. Although the room was cleaned daily; when cleaning was completed, the hvac was turned off and the temperature never got above 55… brrrrrr.

  • 3/5 Sheena I. 2 years ago on Google
Conveniently a room was open when she checked for available rooms. No problems with the rooms themselves because it’s very spacious an organized but the only downside was having to deal with a lousy attitude. So if you’re up for a passive aggressive desk lady, with your last minute check in, on multiple eye roll attempts and that throws personal items back on the desk towards you than hey this is a hotel for you. Just don’t expect customer service to be as good as the rooms.
