This was a really disappointing experience. I had never been to SFO before and had a pretty short layover. I decided seeing this eagle would be a great way to spend it. First off, there's a cover. The only eagle in this world that has a cover. London didn't even have one. I can understand having one if there's entertainment or a show but there wasn't. I arrived just past midnight. I had to hit the ATM for a $20 to pay it. Once I went up to the bar and ordered my drinks, I was informed they were cash only instead of just telling me at the door or even having a notice posted of it. I had to hit the ATM again. I went to the patio, and there were a wide variety of people. It was an interesting crowd but felt too many stares that caught me off guard, I don't think they were admiring. Not much leather being worn that evening. Come 1:25 I went to take a leak, when I tried to go back out to talk to some guys I met I was refused entry back to the patio by security because it was "closing." Which was probably the most infuriating thing of the evening. They were kicking everyone inside. I'm glad I paid a $10 cover for no show or entertainment, overpriced drinks, Fireball that didn't quite taste like Fireball, and to be kept from enjoying the whole bar. What a bummer.

A great South of Market bar and generally a staple gathering spot for the local Leather community. The SF Eagle has been host to a number of up and coming bands, especially for Thursday Night Live. Beer Bust on Sunday is also a treat, as long as you like beer and/or good conversation with people you’ve known for awhile, and sometimes, those you’ve just met.

This place used to be a lot more fun but these days it just feels like a sea of bad life choices. Update: BEST RESPONSE EVER

$20 dollar cover on a Saturday for nothing special going on. There’s other bay bars in the area that are just as fun if not more fun and don’t have as expensive a cover.

I went to the jock strap night at the Eagle on a Friday. Which was a bit of a train wreck, stayed for about an hour. I arrived around 11pm, there weren't many people inside. The layout is pretty epic, with a big outside area which was more than double the size of the inside. I had worn my jockstrap and showed the door guy to get my discounted $5 entry (instead of $8). Inside very few people were actually wearing jocks, maybe like 3 out of about 30. A curious thing was that a majority of the patrons clustered outside in little groups underneath the outside heaters. So it was hard to find people to talk with. All the staff were quite good, the barman offered to top up my soft drink if I needed it later. So it was just the patrons that I didn't really warm up to. The majority of guys were bears and cubs, some hot cubs. Also there were a few women, which I didn't expect to see. There was a group of 3 early thirties white guys all wearing checked shirts, which I named the lumberjack group, seriously guys try not to be clones of each other. They got to talking to a handsome hot hipster type couple one of which was wearing a jock strap underneath white leggings and had a massive bulge. Because it was cold (late February) I stayed in the bar area and I could notice during the course of drinking my (large size) diet coke several people leaving the Eagle. When the hipster couple left I knew it was time to pack it in too because if they were bailing then it probably meant it was going to be boring. Also there weren't many handsome guys there and I wasn't getting any interest from anyone. So SF Eagle, great venue, friendly staff, not enough and not my type of patrons sadly. 6/10.

A event that I have gone to for years in San Francisco moved "recently" to the SF eagle. If you are there on a good night, the bartenders and the patrons are solid. More than a few times we get a aggressive bar back that's trying to dictate how the bar is operated, which ruins the vibe a little bit. I do not advise parking within the block or two of the eagle, I've been broken into twice. It's not the best area. The street outside is currently going underneath intense construction, as soon as that's done, I'm sure the area will be even better. they do not like doing tabs or taking card during large events, be prepared to have cash on hand. They do have an ATM, but you know they all have horrible fees. If you are there not during a event, they probably will be able to take your card no problem. something I wish they would change, cuz I would buy a lot more drinks if I didn't have to have cash on hand. Enjoy yourself, have fun, be silly.

Kind of stumbled here while searching out the queer scene tbh. Not a lot of variety… mostly cis gay men. Which is fine. But just not diverse. The staff seemed a bit cold/standoffish as well. Kind of just.. hung around the bartender standing directly in front of me doing nothing yet seemingly ignoring me standing there. Odd.

Like other people have said, the bartenders are rude and have attitude. I walked up to the bar when it was relatively empty inside and the bartender just stared at me, no acknowledgement. I asked for an Eagle lemonade and he very curtly said “a WHAT.” So I explained that I saw it on their menu behind him. He made no acknowledgment of this, went to check their lemonade tap, and mumbled “I guess.” Overall ruined my mood. In my opinion, it would be better to take your money elsewhere, there’s so many good bars in SF with nicer staff.

The SF Eagle doesn’t have a little, it has a LOT of something for EVERYONE! Whether it’s hanging with the leather community, meeting a new pup , dancing to disco on a Sunday after its famous beer bust of course, karaoke Wednesdays, the make out party, so many events happen at the SF eagle that their truly is something for everyone. Everyone is welcome and everyone is respectful. Make sure you are too! Love this place, they treat you like family! Pictures taken by myself.

Definitely not what I expected, but it could’ve been the night. NYC - Eagle is usually popping on a Thursday night and I thought the same would apply. This was nowhere near it [and other Eagles (nationwide) I’ve had the pleasure of visiting]. Hopefully, I’ll be able to return and experience its true potential. I know you could do better. 🤔

Went to the eagle tonight for the first time in 20 years and might I say this place was banging this is how you want a business for those of you who don't know it's not the old leather scene it's more of a youthful meta leather seen people from all different backgrounds different cultural identities having a good time the atmosphere was brilliant the staff are friendly and inviting the drinks are good the music was hot and again the variety of people blew my mind there was something for everyone and then some I got to make more trips there great place to hang out

One of the best patios in all of SF, enjoy it before it becomes condo's. This is a gay leather bar and extremely inclusive for all! You may see light fetish play on any given night. Go for karaoke or punk rock shows for a fantastic time!

I love going to the Eagle SF for a party called Young Hearts which always happens once a month on a Saturday night. In my opinion, one of the best parties in the city. If you’re not from SF, I highly recommend you check what’s going on at the Eagle before going because there are many different parties, some of which might not be your thing. On some nights, the bar can also be empty! It’s a leather bar, but wear whatever you want!

This was a nice bar with plenty of space. They put on a good show. The bathrooms were great although a little splashed. I loved the open outdoor section. I went on a Sunday so things died down pretty early around 8 pm but all things considered I thought it was good. The main thing that I wasn’t expecting was that it’s male oriented but that was my bad since I didn’t really know the vibe before going. The drag show was fantastic and the staff were kind and helpful !

Great space to meet up with friends. The Eagle has a fantastic outdoor space, pool table, four bars, and lots of elbow room. The outdoor space has an elevated section that overlooks the main area of the outdoor space.
