Absolutely loved this place. Oysters were so fresh and amazing. They did not serve with cocktail sauce but was very kind when I asked for some! The clams were so fresh as well. Wish there was some bread to eat with the leftover sauce because it was that good! The fish and chips were good too. Definitely coming back.

Great seafood place on the wharf at the ferry terminal. Raw Oysters could not have been more fresh plus great selection. The grilled oysters with green sauce deserve special mention. Also, the clam chowda was as good as I’ve had in New England. Mussels with fries were superb as well. There can be a bit of a line but it moved quickly.

I had heard rave reviews about the renowned oysters at the Ferry Building, and being a local in the Bay area, I knew it's a bit of a tourist trap. However, the allure was too strong to resist, and I must say, their clam chowder is, in my opinion, the best in the world. As a staunch supporter of soups for meals, clam chowder holds a special place in my heart. Situated in the Ferry Building, this oyster spot is undeniably popular. Opting for 24 oysters, spanning six distinct varieties, was a delightful journey of flavors. The freshness and quality were exceptional, both in the raw and cooked oysters. Despite a weekend visit around 4 PM, leading to a bit of a wait, the service, once seated, was swift and our server was friendly, offering helpful raw food recommendations. We chose to sit outside, enjoying the scenic bay view, even though it was a bit chilly. Trying the soft shell crab sandwich added a variety to the mostly seafood-centric menu. The place gets quite busy, so an early arrival is recommended. The crab sandwich, oysters, and clam chowder were standout choices. In summary: - Service: 4/5 - Ambiance: 4/5 - Crab sandwich: 3/5 - Oysters: 5/5 - Clam chowder: 5/5 - Drinks: 3/5 For the optimal experience, stick to the oysters and clam chowder. A definite must-visit for any seafood lover in the city!

Such a beautiful location!! We showed up around 6:45 and there was a huge line out the door (which we took as a good sign it was a popular place!) By the time we got seated after about 10 mins, we sat on the outdoor patio with a stunning view of the Oakland Bay Bridge & water!! Absolutely perfect for our first night in San Francisco. I ordered the Clam Chowder which had real clams with the shell on - one of the best chowders I've ever had! Also a side of fries, and of course oysters to share with the table. Everything was super fresh and our server was really nice. Highly recommend visiting if you're in the area.

If you’re looking for fresh seafood packed with flavor, this is the place! I had the best clam chowder here and I could see why the grilled cheese won awards. The half crab was delicious and the bourbon oysters had amazing flavor. You can even get the serving of clam chowder split into 2 for easy sharing.

This establishment is located within the outer side of the ferry building, facing the water. It has a nice vibe that could be suitable for numerous occasions. The employees there are welcoming and chill. Their food is a little bit on the pricier side, but the portions and quality make it understandable as to why it is so. Our dishes were great and we cannot wait to come back.

Super fresh oysters from West Coast, BC, and The East Coast (Massachusetts). We had an excellent time. The seafood stew was also delicious with super tasty broth and fresh muscles, clams, shrimp, and fish. The halibut was decent too but I wouldn’t order it again as it was a little bland compared to the other dishes by comparison, but it was super fresh and great by halibut standards. Also, the bartenders spilled over from the Slanted Door’s bar team next door, which is temporarily closed, and were on point - Joaquin was awesome and made up a drink with sesame oil that sounded weird but tasted amazing. All in all a great birthday meal and excellent atmosphere!

I popped into this restaurant on a weekday and snagged a table right away. While parking in the area can be pricey ($8/hour!), a quick 7-8 minute walk northeast leads to free street parking and gives you a chance to explore the neighborhood. The food was fantastic! I started with the Hog Island oysters, which were incredibly fresh and bursting with flavor, without a hint of fishiness. Next, I tried the garlic grilled oysters, cooked to perfection - juicy, creamy, and infused with garlicky goodness. The old bay fries were another highlight - crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and seasoned with a hint of sweetness. Even the ketchup impressed me - tangy and refreshing, it complemented the fries perfectly. The clam chowder wasn't your typical version. Instead of small bits, it showcased plump whole clams in a slightly thinner, yet still creamy broth that avoided being overly milky. The service was friendly and attentive, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable dining experience. Plus, considering the high quality of the food, the prices were very reasonable. This hidden gem, even amidst the tourist crowds, offers excellent value and deserves a visit!

Wonderful place by the water. I was looking for a seafood place while visiting San Francisco and this place is the right one. The host recommended their fish and chips which were fresh and delicious 😃 I also tried their grilled shrimp and local dark beer and enjoyed them a lot. I highly recommend this place when in SF 😃

FANTASTIC FOOD! Some of the best clam chowder and oysters we’ve ever had. So fresh with unique flavors. Like the chipotle oysters - just wow. The steamed clams with pasta was amazing as well! Light, flavorful, and filling! We were impressed to have such good food attached to a food hall (because usually they are overpriced and just ok)…..this spot was great!

Great experience. If you don’t mind sitting inside, there is no wait even when it’s busy. The line keeps moving quickly anyway, so don’t be discouraged. Service is quick and you’re stuffing your face full of good food quickly. You have to get the blue fin ceviche. Grilled oysters with the bourbon butter was great and they come in fours. We got the 24 raw oysters for $82 and it was a perfect amount for two people. You have to try to clam chowder! The sweet watermelon beer was very tasty.

Love eating out here! They seat you once everybody in your group presents. Their famous sweet water oysters and the creamy clam chowder are the must. The chowder here differs from other popular chowder places which I like, not thick. Loved the mussels with a hint of mustard. The cod was great too, plated so beautifully and tasted wonderfully. Great service as well.

Very flavorful seafood dishes! Not a very large menu, but they do their dishes well. Would also recommend trying their oyster selection. There was a line for early weekend dinner, but it went by fast (~15min), but if you want to sit outside it may take a bit longer

one of best spots for fresh oysters and clams. the clam chowder was unforgettable! it came as overflowing bowl of clams with a little cream soup! we also had the baked oysters that were so plump and fresh! sitting outside would be ideal while weather permits. the view is just stunning.

Great, fresh seafood and chill vibes! Went on Friday night, since we didn’t have a reservation we were seated at the bar with elevated chairs - not comfortable but tolerable. It’s directly facing the operation station where they open up oysters which was interesting to watch. Ordered the chipotle grilled oyster and it was so good so we ordered another garlic grilled oyster. Personally I liked the chipotle one better because it gave me a surprised - it was a little spicy which goes really well with the oyster - comparing to garlic which I already have an expectation for how it tastes. The seafood stew is delicious and the tomato sauce goes so well with the bread - we ended up getting extra bread. Only downside is that there was some shatters of clam shell in the soup so had to be careful when chewing. $60 pp post tax and fees

Nice place to grab some fresh oysters and a beer or wine. Service is warm and friendly. Food is good. Prices are what you’d expect for the atmosphere. Good, but I only wish they could have served warm, crusty bread, instead of cold bread. :-)

This place is a must try. I don't eat oysters but I did try the fried one. It was good, small but good. I also had the shrimp and chips (fries) with obay seasoning OMG.. Loved it My drink with a margarita (see their menu) was delicious. There will be a line but it went somewhat quick. The staff is friendly and the vibe was great..

Sooooo good. We could not stop ordering food. Everything we had was so delicious. The raw oysters were fresh and addicting. The two types of cooked oysters we tried were packed with flavor and made me want more. The asparagus salad was both refreshing and tasty. Fries were simple and delectable. Mussels were ridiculous. I loved everything.

It was a long weekend Saturday. We sat inside so, we only waited 10 mins at 5 pm. We liked this place a lot. Ordered Acme bread and butter, 4 grilled oysters. Mix oyster plater (12 pieces), clam chowder and two glasses of French rose, all were extremely good. Fresh oysters were really fresh, grilled ones with garlic sauce were great too. I recommend to order clam chowder, it is creamy and rich but we really liked it. They split it in two bowls for us and with bread dipping in the cream, it was heaven! They all came out 143 bucks with tax and %20 tip. And more than enough for two. It was an easy 5 stars to give! Recommend it for sure!

Stopped for lunch here. Short wait for a table, but it was definitely worth it. Oysters were awesome, fresh and perfectly shucked. Seafood stew was hearty and filling with lots of meaty seafood chunks. Mixed drinks were also pretty good! All in all great find!

A must stop every time in San Francisco. Beautifully located at the backside of the Ferry building on San Francisco Bay. Outstanding oysters, grilled and raw, crisp salads, spare ribs, ceviche, grilled cheese, Sancerre…omg…Delicious!

Always a winner, great service and such a beautiful view at the Ferry Building. Grilled oysters perfectly cooked and seasoned. Chipotle bourbon is our fav but Cajun is a close second. Must get the geoduck ceviche, so fresh with perfect bouncy texture. Rob loved the steamers with pasta, it was a little herbal for my personal taste but still delicious. They don't offer free fresh baked bread from ACME around the corner any more, but definitely still worth ordering.

Rather mediocre seafood dishes served by enthusiastic and helpful staff. I had a clam chowder that sounded great on paper and was redolent with butter. But it had an acrid bitter after-taste. My three dining companions had mixed results -- from a highly-praised fish and chips to a disappointing squid salad. What cannot be faulted is the view of The Bay.

A pretty neat experience here! Oysters were fresh and yummy - 24 pieces for $80. Loved the seafood stew and clam chowder too. The latter wasn’t chunky and thick, totally unlike those at Fisherman’s Wharf. Loved it!

What an experience! Can’t beat sitting at the oyster bar and looking out at the bay. Chipotle bourbon oysters were the best oysters I’ve had in my life. Also highly recommend the clam chowder — not a New England style, but leaves you licking up every last drop. You can tell the employees enjoy working here — contributes to a great atmosphere. The manager even gave us a manager’s discount after having a nice conversation. Small things that made for a wonderful experience.

Oysters and clams were super fresh. Especially liked the variety of oysters from the oyster bar mix. The steamers paired with fennel apple sausage were very well done and delicious too. A plus point: the restaurant is located at a nice area overlooking the bay. Visited this area twice during my short stay in San Francisco and will be back!

I am so happy I stopped here! I was seated basically right away outside around 3pm on a Friday. Amazing views. The bourbon chipotle oysters and clam chowder were delicious as well as the watermelon drink. Pickled veggies were just okay. The service was friendly and attentive.
