Small hole in the wall restaurant/bar with a small menu, not a large variety options of food. Though had a great ambiance, lighting and friendly staff. Bit overpriced for the food, but then again there's alot of vegan and gluten free options so its to be expected. Ordered trout, 31$, Mac n cheese 12$, Flatbread entree 18$ ( basically a small personal pizza in photo), cheese bread 4$ per bread. Not many non alcoholic drinks, more than half the drink menu was alcoholic with limited regular drinks. I was not a fan of the kale taste on my food. Due to location its bit of a "yuppie" area and felt as if my group was being watched alot, being Hispanic compared to the Caucasian customers which was a large majority. And I would've wore more dressy attire or least a better shirt if I knew about the style. Covid vaccine card and id required to enter.

I wanted to like this place. I really did. The starter beet salad was very good. As was the bread and yummy dip. Service is incredible... Very friendly and attentive. But the main courses were underwhelming. The potato dish was wildly under seasoned. I don't think there was any salt on kugel or in the sauce. The mushrooms were also under seasoned. The enchiladas were better but again, not seasoned well. The toffee date cake was tasty but a bit dry. I know it's possible to make vegan food better than this. Maybe an off night. And maybe the meat dishes are better.

This is gluten free heaven! Although a bit expensive. Almost everything in the menu was GF!

Don’t ask for counter because there’s one two seater where you’re literally facing a wall. Food (in order) 1. Cheesy bread [MUST MUST ORDER] - absolutely phenomenal 2. Hamachi tostada - really good and light 3. Sweet potatoes were really flavourful but almost too drenched in sauce for my liking 4. fried chicken - honestly the most hyped in reviews and … mediocre at best :( really wanted to like it but it was just very bland. Overall, would takeout the cheese bread but u less I’m bringing a gluten free friend I probably won’t return. Good to try once though!

What a great dining experience. Friends had heard about this restaurant but not yet visited — and gosh, are we happy they let us join them! The menu is mostly gluten free — and where it is not, alternatives were available. The flavors were well paired — the artichoke and green olive salad is a great way to start a meal. The wine list offers a great variety at most price points. From a truly gluten free perspective, the max and cheese was good — would have like a little more flavor, but that’s probably personal preference. The friend chicken was next level — perfect mix of crispy and moist — and not too greasy. The brownie sundae featured salted caramel drizzle and crispy corn flakes — it was great way to end the meal. All in all, this was a delicious meal and we highly recommend the visit.

Ventured into a new neighborhood that I haven't been too lately...Noe Valley! Made a reservation for a date out with the wife. We were fortunate to get a reservation about the time that they opened. The service was great. The food was well portioned and reasonable. The menu items were unique and delicious. The only draw back is that they don't have typical soft drinks like Coke, etc. I guess the menu was unique enough that I should've expected that. All good. Will be back in the future!

We really enjoy firefly. My wife is strict vegan, and they have many dishes which either are or can be made vegan. I am not vegan. We always get the seed loaf, really enjoy the rustic flavors. I enjoy the Pao de Queijo, and the onion jam that comes with it is my favorite. The Mexican street corn is mild and delightful. My wife enjoys the daikon radish cakes and usually gets them as her main, supplemented with something else since they're a starter and a little small for a main. The choppy salad is excellent even in vegan form. The spring salad is also excellent as a vegan option. I've had both the fried chicken and the braised pork; both are excellent. The only quibble is that the "damn fine buttermilk biscuit" hasn't actually been that great on two occasions - it tends to be overcooked and not so tender. I will try the cornbread next time. The Mac and cheese is fine but not spectacular. For dessert, the chocolate peanut butter bar is excellent, but get the vanilla ice cream rather than the coffee cocoa nib vegan ice cream if you can. The dulce de leche pot de creme is excellent but very rich. And the key lime pie is also excellent, not too tart or too sweet - just right, but smaller than I would like.

Warm and inviting, family friendly and inviting local space let down by incredibly rude and distasteful host. Inquired if water was being brought, only to be met with an eye-roll and aggravated tone. Server, on the other hand, was bright, bubbly, and delightful. Comped our drinks. Ocean trout was well cooked but was placed atop a soggy, chewy mess of oyster mushrooms and sunchokes. Sweet potatoes were tasty but inconsistently cooked - dry. Mac & cheese might as well have been a frozen TV-dinner. Salad was fantastic, as was the cheese-bread. Wanted to love this place and its charm. Sabotaged by its kitchen program.

My gluten free and dairy free friend said it was some of the best food he’s had in a very long time. I (as someone who eats everything) thoroughly enjoyed the main course. They made some killer striped bass. The deserts and appetizers were different and not as sweet as I would have liked, but my friend thought they were all delicious and perfect. If you’re gluten free or have a gluten free friend, make sure add this to your itinerary. If you’re not, it’s still a nice place to visit and try some new dishes.

Came here last Friday with outdoor seating reservation. Servers were friendly. We are both vegan, ordered 3 apertizers and 2 entrees. Love the tostones and daikon cakes. Will skip the entrees next time. Gumbo was definitely better than the Enchiladas. Our server, Samie was checking on us and when she noticed we were not into the entree especially the Enchiladas, she comped that entree. What a surprise, appreciate her gesture (we gave a 30% tip pre-discount subtotal)! We will return for sure, but just for the Vegan apertizers.

Inspired dishes make it difficult to choose. I'm sure you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Lovely, attentive staff. A bit difficult to carry on a conversation without raising your voice when there's a full house.

Wonderful vegetarian-themed, high-end comfort food. Starters were tasty and very well done. The lamb stew was amazing - but more like braised lamb than a stew. Our reservation was for "High-top seating: side by side bar-style seating facing a wall" table, but we chose to move to the bar, which was a much better choice. Friendly staff; great bar-person. Very good choice of wine by the glass. Definitely on our come-back-to list.

Truly an unbelievable experience. As someone with celiac, I have never had such an incredible time at a restaurant. From the Brazilian cheese buns to the fried chicken to the key lime tart (and everything in between), I was in heaven. Fabulous wine selection which paired so well with the food. Staff was incredibly kind, many thanks especially to Julia for being so kind, helpful and thoughtful. If I lived in the area, I would be a regular patron.

Multiple textures were incorporated into each and every dish we had. Some had a little too much crunch for our taste and expectations. But boy did they have an abundance of vegetarian and vegan dishes on the menu. I was left asking, which of these dishes has actual animal protein? As always left wanting more cheesy bread.

What a delectable meal in an inviting ambiance! The appetizer (sweet potatoes) were perfectly seasoned and prepared with I think a citrus glaze and the fish was light and flavorful with lots of veggies. They were very accommodating to our dietary restrictions and we can't wait to return to try the rest of the menu!

First time visit. The place is pretty nice for a date night. They provided great services. I had Brazilian cheese buns and Brussel sprouts for appetitizer. The cheese bun wasn't that filling which was good. I also had heritage chicken, along with ginger ale. The chicken was nicely fried and the mashed potatoe was fresh. I would come back again for other dishes.

"Amazing food, great service Nice place. The super burger and chicken sandwich are flavorful And filling but still a bit expensive. Fries were good. Honey really enjoyed his chocolate shake just as I really enjoyed the homemade pickles. This place is worth a try.

We've been eating at firefly for nearly two decades. The food and service have always been excellent! This time was no exception. We had two vegetarians in our party, both of whom were very satisfied with the appetizers we shared and their choice of entree (pro tip: the side of Mac and cheese is quite large on it's own). I tried a bite of everyone's meal and came away believing I'd have been happy no matter what I ordered. Our only issues were that they don't serve cocktails (wine, beer, and hard cider were all available and our server helped with pairing choices) and that we were all too full for dessert!

I have to rave about this place. My husband has celiac so finding a GF restaurant is a gem. All the things we ordered were delicious. We definitely ordered the fried chicken per all the reviews we read. However, judging by the 4 other things we ordered, their food is delicious all around. Our server was also the bartender and she was a delight. We'll be coming back next time we're in town.

Gluten free and even glutenful heaven! Firefly is a must in SF - incredible food and wonderful wine selection. Everything on their menu is gluten free with the exception of the biscuit which you can easily substitute for gluten free cornbread. We had incredible fried chicken, trout, cheese bread, seed bread, a brownie sundae, and creme brûlée… maybe too much food but couldn’t help ourselves with so many gluten free options!

OMG, vegetarian heaven! Please don't be shy about trying the items having "squash", I never loved it before, but now I'm gonna come here to eat squash again!!!! Random find for me, pricey, but very tasty food!
