This is probably one of the most under-rated restaurant in SF. As we are pretty picky eaters in SF, we were unsure when we see 4.0 rating for this restaurant. After getting brunch there, I can say for sure it's definitely way better than many 4.5 star restaurants in SF in in food quality, service, staff, venue, even the view and the vibe. First of all the venue is amazing with beautiful murals on the first floor and a classy dining room on the second floor, which is well lit, clean and gets a spectacular view of the Ocean Beach. If you like a more casual and relax setting, they also have the patio dining and garden dining in the west end of the Golden Gate Park. So the venue has it all, whichever way you like. The food is delicious yet not too heavy in general. The the service was outstanding and the staff is super attentive and accommodating. Best of all it's more than just a restaurant, but also a brewery. So it has a good selection of their house brews, enough to give you a good buzz to lighten up your day. You got to give it a try as the combination (food, service, view, vibe, etc.) is well worth it.

After checking the rating, reviews and location, we decided to go there for Sunday Dinner, from Livermore. The location is beautiful as its right across the street from the beach with an amazing view of the ocean. They have an amazing menu for cocktails and the drinks are good. We ordered for the buttermilk fried calamari and truffle fries for appetisers, which were good. For entrées we ordered from on the roll section, the lobsters roll and the Dungeness crab. The lobster roll was good however the crab was overloaded with cheese and totally not worth the price. They also had a lot of shell pieces in the meat which was pretty annoying while eating. The staff here is really great and helpful. Their suggestions are good. Overall, the place is great for the view and drinks however the food is pretty average.

Fantastic views of the ocean in the upstairs restaurant. Reservations suggested if you want to sit by the windows to have an unobstructed view of the ocean. Otherwise, we walked in around noon and were able to be seated not too close to the window. Can get very busy and noisy after noon. Food was delicious and the coffee was great! Fast, friendly and efficient staff. Love that they also have patio dining at the back of the restaurant below. Bright and airy with view of the Golden Gate Park woods.

This is a brewery restaurant that has an excellent view of the sea and watching the sunset there is just amazing. The menu has different interesting options that it's worth it to try. My experience is that I didn't make a reservation before arriving. When I arrived I ordered a table with view at the frontdesk and they were super kind and gave me a table for my party next to the window. We ordered some drinks: I ordered the IPA of the place (the restaurant is also a brewery) and my mom and sister ordered an Irish coffee and a white wine. All the drinks were recommendations of the waiter based on what we wanted to try. My party and I were not really hungry and we ordered the beach burger. I ordered with salad and my sister with fries. The burguer patty was well cooked and juicy and the bun was soft, hot and smelled really good. The salad was ok; it was only a spring mix with dressing. But the fries of my sister meal were the opposite, they were crunchy, perfectly salted and still hot. My recommendation for this place is that despite the distance it is worthy to go. I suggest this place to anybody: families, couples, first dates, tourist etc. I would suggest to book and go before the sunset.

The Beach Chalet Brewery and Restaurant always satisfies. Two of my lunch companions had the Clam Chowder which was delicious and rich. The batter on the calamari was the most delicate and flavorful I have ever had. My husband and I enjoyed our sandwiches. We shared a fabulous dessert but it disappeared before I remembered to take a photo. Oh, and the view of the beach can't be beat.

Very nice restaurant. They brew there own I had the seal rock black lager. Very nice service clean prices good for area. Fish and chips There was live music piano playing nice music. Lots of parking great views of the ocean. Hard for me to give a five but it meets everything you need in a fine dinning.

Great location, great service, and good food. You should get a reservation in advance since it gets busy. Ask for a window seating by the ocean. Totally worth it. A little expensive depending on what you order. Make time for a walk outside by the beach before or after your meal.

Beach Chalet serves prime rib on Mondays only. We love the view from their upstairs dining room at sunset on a clear day. This is not one of the places that thrive on location only. Their food is usually good and service excellent. Tonight I had their Mondays only prime rib. It wasn't bad. It started with a cesar salad. Then comes the Yorkshire pudding with spreadable butter. The baked potato was ordinary. It only came with sour cream and little green onions. The creamed spinach had tiny pieces of bacon in it. The prime rib wasn't dry and it came with a cup of thick au jus. They still have the annoying live music. If you are stilling too close to them, I would kindly ask for a different table.

Disappointing finish to an otherwise beautiful day in SF! We reached the place around 5.30 PM on Sunday evening and were told it would be an hours wait to be seated upstairs. We decided to skip and take a table downstairs. The staff was probably overworked or disinterested but couldn’t even wait for us to finish our order! The pacific chowder was OK but it’s prepared in a batch so cannot accommodate any changes for dietary preferences 🤷🏽‍♀️the king salmon was not cooked but the veggies served with it were burnt. The fried chicken sandwich and 🍓 🌹 lemonade sound better than they tasted.

Extremely slow service. Food was average but high priced. I was not impressed. The only reason to go here is for the beach view. The drink was tasty but not too strong. The calamari was very good. Crispy, buttery and tender. The Brussel sprouts were 100% better tasting than they looked. Some mild kind of vinaigrette sauce along with nuts. The butternut squash soup was flavorless and gross. I asked the waiter 3 times for lemons to go with my water. Time to be acknowledged 5/5 Time to be seated 3/5 Return value 1/5 Customer service 2/5

The place has an amazing view of the ocean. It's well maintained and clean. The portion size is good and the food tasted really nice. Great place for beer lovers. Best to make a reservation prior.

This place was amazing. The food was amazing, the servers, the cooks... Every one pulled their weight. The place was clean and right near the beach. There was no wait for us during the week. The scenery was beautiful. The art on the walls. The atmosphere was perfect. I have nothing bad to say about this place. Nothing that I would change or suggest. It was beautiful and when we visit San Francisco again, we will be going back. Great job all.

The view is the most stunning when you are able to be seated at the window. We asked for a window seat, even though we had a reservation and we were told no. They said they needed the table for a large party that never shows up while we were there. Unable to order lunch so settled with Chicken Sandwich instead. It was very thin and almost non existent. He had the fish and was marginal and tasteless. He used lots of sauce and had to ask more than once since they only give you the very small ramekins. The egg nog martinis were way overpriced, small and definitively not looking like your online pictures. We were told that music would be playing but the piano player got up after every song for a drink it seemed 🤷‍♀️It’s a beautiful building and the downstairs artwork was worth the time to see. I just wish the food, drinks and service were as good.

I went for Restaurant week, which may or may not reflect how the food is if ordered at other times (they may have had some of the food partially prepared already). As you can see from the pics, you can't ask for better views on a sunny day. The interior and ambiance is nice, but not jaw dropping beautiful The service was very prompt, very friendly, very attentive. Not in the sense as at a local diner where you get close with the wait staff and you get a sense of warmth and closeness of an almost family member. But friendly in a very professional way. The food was pretty good, but not go-out-of-your-way amazing. We had minestrone (lukewarm, but a nice balance between hearty and vibrant), the standard salad (fine, but forgettable), tuna poke (beautifully prepared but not particularly distinguishable from other poke I've had), salmon (fantastic quality salmon, beautiful sear, wonderful flavor) and vegan risotto (it was missing full flavor cheese and dairy but had a nice variety of veggies, a lovely bright sauce to cut through the heaviness of a standard risotto, and of course, a visual feast). The dessert was an Espresso coffee with whipped cream, an apple/pineapple sauce and almost biscotti like cookie. Unfortunately, with so many good ice cream places in the city (ie: salt and straw, bi-rite, Humphrey), the ice cream was merely okay. The cookie was quite airy, and yet crispy, a nice addition. The apple/pineapple sauce seemed like it was just there because that's what you're "supposed" to do. One thing to note, I would qualify this as a place where you will be hungry in an hour or 2. The food was nice, unfortunately, it wasn't enough.

Went to get some lunch on a Saturday. If you want to get a view to the sea, I'd suggest to make a reservation it tends to get full. They also accept walk-ins in the back restaurant which is nice, you can either sit outside in the yard or inside. Ordered a claw chowder in sourdough bred which was tasty and good portion. Also ordered a truffle macaroni and cheese with lobster which was delicious! The service was not bad, we did wait some time to even get our orders because the waiters had to attend too many tables (so probably understaffed), but they were all really nice.

After Our Most Recent Visit To, "Ocean Beach"...My Pregnant Wife Decided To Celebrate Her Upcoming Birthday @ The Beach Chalet Brewery and Restaurant. We Made Reservations & Drove Out From The Sacramento (Carmichael) Area. (Parking Was Accessible, Convenient And Free). After Taking Several Photos @ The Establishments Lobby Area, We We're Whisked To The Top Floor By An Elevator. Upon Entering We We're Amazed By The Atmosphere, Scenery & The Sound Of Music Being Played By Piano. We Were Swiftly Shown To Our Table By A Welcoming Host. We Ordered Appetizers, Took More Photos, Watched The Sunset, Ordered Seard Salmon...Which Was Scrumptious & For Dessert My Wife Was Serranated By The Entire Restaurant. After Taking More Photos We Safely Drove Home. Thank You To Everyone Whom Made Our Visit To The Beach Chalet Brewery And Restaurant A Pleasant One.

I was there with my friends. We got a table right next to the window, view was stunning. Having a nice dinner watching the sunset was something else. Oysters were so fresh and delicious, appetizers as well. Main courses very nice played, however portions are not so big.

The restaurant has a gorgeous view of the Pacific. We had a birthday party with a large group. The staff was able to accommodate us with efficient and courteous service. The prices are comparable to other restaurants in San Francisco. The food was not exceptional, I was a little disappointed. The appetizers were actually better than the main courses. That was the general consensus within our group. There is a visitor center on the bottom floor. Very beautiful murals and displays.

Last minute, we decided to have a drink after watching the sunset. Fortuitous there was room at the bar. Stayed for dinner. Tried the poke........ best I've ever had. honestly. Salmon was a bit rich for my pallet, and I love salmon coming from years in the northwest. It was like eating a stick of butter. Impressive that they achieved that level of dense richness but not for me personally. Our dirty plates stayed way too long with the number of paid employees walking by our table, but I would still come back.

This is a nice place because of the view. You get to grab a beer while watching the beach. I think prices are a bit too much for the quality of the food. We asked for a mac and cheese and it tasted like garlic. French fries were good and the beer was good too. The view is what I took away from this place. Make sure to not leave any valuable items inside the car after parking.

March 2022: Enjoyed a great dinner here with beautiful views! For starters, shared a Caesar Salad and a crab 🦀 cake. Both were really tasty. The crab cake had a nice guacamole sauce with some salad greens. The Caesar salad had nice anchovies sprinkled throughout. My main was the whole branzino. Surprisingly, they deboned the fish 🐟 before serving! 👍 For dessert, shared a chocolate torte and the ricotta cheesecake which was topped with a strawberry 🍓 puree. Both were on the large side 😃👍. Overall, a very fantastic dinner! Would definitely come back again!

One of the most vibrant restaurants with ample amount of seating. They have multiple seating options from ocean facing to indoor sunroof seating to pation seating. Service was quick and amazing, everyone is super nice there. Loved the breakfast here, they make one of the best poached eggs.

I enjoyed the restaurant because of the fantastic views. Also enjoyed the food, although the taste itself wasn’t particularly memorable. I had the Brussels sprouts, steak frites, and a bite of chocolate lava cake. Everything was fine but not super special. I also liked the margarita. Our service was mediocre — the server was slow to get to us, so our meal ended up taking more than 2.5 hours (unintentional).

Great place for lunch or dinner or host a party for a group. A few seats with a view of the ocean. The food & service was good. The parking lot is not too big, might need to park across from the restaurant. Check it out.

Google thinks this is a hotel and only offers the category of “Rooms”, which I’m using for “Food” … ha ha. Beach Chalet has a fantastic atmosphere with stunning views overlooking the Pacific Ocean, we were seated by the windows; honestly, there probably isn’t a bad table in the dining room, if you’re seated at the bar your back would be to the view. We only tried a couple items on the menu, the Dungeness Crab Pasta, the Pan Seared King Salmon, and the Sourdough bread. All were well prepared and cooked to perfect temperatures. The salmon was moist and tender and the beet purée was very interesting and a nice accompaniment to the salmon. The sourdough bread was very good. As for the Dungeness Crab Pasta, it was well prepared, but needed more flavor, which was probably intended for the diner to add more salt maybe? Service was great! Overall, food was good, but the atmosphere brings the rating up.

A great experience. Beautiful view, right on the beach. The food was delicious. The service, outstanding. I like to rate places on how far I would drive to go there, I would drive 45 minutes to eat here.

This restaurant is a wonderful place for a nice meal by the beach especially during sunset. The service was great throughout our meal. The dishes were tasty and reasonably priced. The calamari was the only dish that I didn't like. Though they were plentiful, the batter didn't stick to the calamari and we're not crispy.

Very nice spot! I wasn't blown away by any of the food, but it's a lovely place to go after or before checking out the beautiful stretch of beach or the gorgeous parks nearby. Service was excellent, oh and the live music! The pianist that is there every week was beautiful and so talented, and the live music does so much to set a peaceful and welcoming, classy mood.

This must be a classic tourist trap. We had several dishes and only one was decent: the fried calamari. The clam chowder tasted like a potato soup, the ceviche was super lemony, the tuna tar tar was bland, the kale salad tasted like it was just pulled out of dirt. The view of the beach was great though but when going to the restroom you have to go out of the restaurant and go down the stairs (so it's more like a public bathroom) and there was a quite intense odor coming all the way up. The restaurant was packed so it must have something appealing to the public, but I personally wouldn't go back.

This place could be so much better than it is. The food is good, not great but good. The beers are really tasty. The views are spectacular. What makes this a 3 star experience (2.5 really) is the service. Bartenders are more worried about cleaning dishes than taking orders. Food and drinks take forever to come out. Also, why is Park Chalet only open like 2 days a week for 3 hours at a time?

Great food and awesome beer. We started with sampler and order the brewery We like, which I think is a very good option for customer to have more varieties tried. Food is amazing as well. Love the steak.

Went to this restaurant on a family friend night out the atmosphere was great. Is breath taking views but I would have to say the food was not up to par. I ordered the fish It had a very strong fishy smell scented BACK . 2nd one was not cooked well still had a very strong order to it. Not to please with that. The service, they were really short staff one waiter seems like to the whole floor he did the best he can. Will I return, not sure.

Beautiful sunset views (assuming that the weather cooperates). The prime rib special was a great value with 5 sides included. Friendly service. Live music. I can't believe that I waited this long to check it out.

The menu is pretty diverse. The non alcoholic beverages were good. Definitely try the Bahama Palmer. The sautéed spinach was cooked just right. The crab deviled eggs were magnificent. The risotto was bland. The chicken sandwich was delicious with the truffle fries. The fish and chips were really fulfilling. Way more fish then batter which was great. The service was exceptional. Everyone was so nice. The beignets tasted like donuts, they were okay. The clam chowder could have been a little thicker, it was soupy.

Went for dinner based on google recommendation for views of the water. Unfortunately by the time we got there the sun had set but it is right on the water across the highway and probably has great views at sunset too. Overall the food was good except for the steak I ordered medium rare and it came out moo’ing. The service was mediocre, especially waited an extended period of time for drink refills as well as checking on us after our food our delivered. This was a rare instance I sent my steak back which I hate to do, and it was edible after that. Probably would go back but wouldn’t order steak again.

Nice place to stop in San Francisco. Tried the crab and shrimp benedict. It was filling with the poached egg on top. For me, serving can be good for two persons. Also tried the truffle fries and fried calamari for starters. They are great.

New Year's Eve party with the Mermen was excellent. However, our dinner was not worth eating. Chalet burger and fish and chips. Over priced and incorrectly cooked.

Beautiful location. Free parking. Best place drink have a drink watching the sunset. I came here for the beer and their beers were mediocre. They only had eight beers on tap to choose from. If your intention is to drink good craft beers, don't come here.
