I've been to a few Chinese vegetarian restaurants. This is a good one. Good value and good quality. Large menu. We had the fried pumpkin, tan tan noodles and a mix of seitan, tofu, mushroom and vegetables. All very good. Maybe a bit of the sweet side, but not overly so. It's a bit off from the main commercial area, which may help if other restaurants are too busy.

Black people will be served but are not welcome at this restaurant. I’ve owned a home less than 3 blocks from this place for many years and final decided to give them go before I rushed to the airport. I spoke Kings English, said please and thank you and paid cash. During the entire transaction not once would anyone except one younger employee look at me... While I waited for my food to be prepared I witnessed the friendly service bestowed upon other customers just behind me. I have no misconceptions that they will change their stereotypical behavior because of my small thread but I believe they should know that the difference in how they treat customers does not go unnoticed. I will take my money elsewhere.

Tried this place for the first time and loved it!! Not your typical American Chinese restaurant-- some of these flavours I have not experienced since my time in China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. We got to try some unique items-- Vegan Shark Fin Soup, Eggplant with Vegan Sea Bass, and Vegan Braised Spare Ribs with Broccoli. Everything was delicious and actually seemed like excellent quality as well. Everything was cooked and spiced to perfection and the portions were very generous. They have a massive menu so there's something for everyone, even picky eaters! Also all dishes are made without garlic or onion, for those who avoid garlic & onion for spiritual practice. Of course during COVID they aren't during table service, only Take Away but atleast they were kind enough to let us eat our meal at their 1 table available inside. We really appreciated that! Very happy with our experience here and would gladly return.

Vegetarian/Vegan Chinese restaurant creating a variety of dishes from chow Mein to tempura to tofu/veggie meat & vegetables. I would describe the dishes here as “pure” yet flavorful. The main flavor focuses on the sauce of the dish rather than multiple ingredients combining together. Each piece of veggie meat, tofu, and vegetable is infused with the dish’s sauce. All the vegetables were tender and the soy-based meats chewy. I really enjoyed the (seitan?) strips in the chow mein and the “chicken” in the kung pao chicken. Only complaints are that each dish was over-peppered (too much black pepper added) and the tea was pretty weak (they used 1 tea bag for the whole pot of water).

We love this place! We went to both locations and had excellent experiences and meals! It’s hard to find a Chinese vegetarian place that makes such delicious food. We enjoyed the orange chicken, combination platter, braised spareribs with daikon radish, veggie duck, and Dan Dan noodles were ALL notable. We’d eat here all the time if we lived here! Also, excellent customer service at both locations! 👌🏼

Pretty good vegetarian food. Service is ok, they didn't have chow mein so they replaced with rice noodle. The deep fried pumpkin was pretty good. The one dishes did not have enough taste.

World class dining in the heart of Ubud. Having had the opportunity to dine at some really fine restaurants in New York City, I can certainly put Mozaic on par with some of the very best in the world. Creative, perfectly prepared, and exquisitely presented the menu was tremendous. The beef short rib with carrots and vanilla foam is a dish I won't soon forget. The pineapple/coconut dessert was another dish that you know will stay in your mind for a long time! Gorgeous space, wonderful staff, and an unforgettable night. Yes, it is expensive, but you get what you pay for, and this place is something special!

We didn't go in to this place with high expectations, but they really delivered. Apart from the crispy vegan chicken (they were out of fried wantons), everything else was really good. The spinach fried rice is the best fried rice preparation that I tasted and I highly recommend it. The sweet corn soup was tremendous, usually not available for vegetarians without a substantial reduction in taste. The kung pao tofu was nice and so was the chow mein, but not as nice as the other two. The menu is really long with tons of options and I'm sure I'll be back to try other things as well.

Haven’t been in awhile and not my favorite but mother in law like vegetarian so came here for a few dishes. Overall decent flavors and nice mock meat texture just a bit pricey average $20 a dish for smaller than average sizes.

What a cute place! We were visiting this quiet neighborhood and got hungry. We didn't want to face all the potential crowds in downtown SF (or COVID-19). We found this place on Google Maps. I thought it was a weird spot for a veggie restaurant, but gave it a go anyway. So happy we did! The mock beef green beans and twice cooked "pork" were wonderful dishes. We also had the mock chicken nuggets as an appetizer (we're big eaters) and really enjoyed those too. Spicy level could be taken up a notch, but otherwise, it was a really nice, unexpected experience. The gal who served us was super nice and the food came quick and hot. I hope they survive the lock-down, they super-deserve your patronage!

I love coming here. Delicious vegetarian food. Highly recommend the shark fin soup and spare ribs. It's close to a Muni stop. Not a ton of seating, but I've never had a problem getting a table. They also accept credit cards.

Excellent vegetarian buddhist restaurant. Friendly service. Local vibe. Most, but not all of the dishes simulate regular meat dishes - for example the Taro Sesame Veggie "Chicken". They taste great, are 100% vegetarian, yet if you like your veggie dishes to remind you of meat - they do. The chicken dishes even have more "white meat" like parts and "dark meat" like parts. How do they do it? We have no idea, but we enjoy eating here and do so regularly for the last 9 years or so.

Loved it. Food was so delicious - all eight of us (vegan and non-vegan alike)we're very pleased. They have a very extensive menu, most of it vegan, non-vegan options clearly marked, many things gluten free. I absolutely adored the braised spareribs with broccoli! I would like to make it my new Thanksgiving tradition.

Utterly incredible. Definitely book "The Chef's Table" - small dining room to watch chef's prepare and finish a set menu. Expensive but totally worth it. Amazing to see them incorporating local flavours into fine dining. The wine pairing was also fantastic. Highly recommend a visit if you enjoy fine dining and aren't price concious.

I like it. I can't get enough of the spare ribs made from mushroom stems that seem to have seitan [vital wheat gluten] wound around them. The sweet n sour pork is about the best around. All this is vegan. I have seen Buddhist monks in here during lunch in the orange robes with no hair because hair isn't really needed is it? Treat yourself and help the planet. Eating animals the outdated oppressive food chain or food pyramid needs to be updated. People are a lot healthier eating plants. Everyone I know loves Enjoy. You can enjoy vegetable pot stickers too and the hot sauce is so full of flavor. The hot sauce is from sesame oil with red chili flakes immersed in it. The hot sauce is shelf stable. Also use the vinegar to add extra flavor to the chili oil and pot stickers. I don't use the soy sauce when I eat here. The sweet n sour pork is served on a bed of steamed broccoli. Get the brown rice instead of the white rice. The brown rice is healthier and has a nutty flavor that compliments the entrees better than regular white steamed rice. I am not sure how they process the rice so it is white. Is there some sort of bleaching involved?

Came here with my partner tonight. We ordered the salt and pepper pumpkin, and fried tofu with chilli as appetizers. Came out within 5 minutes, cooked to perfection, tofu was so light and both were a generous size, too. Half way through the entrees, we ordered a Mongolian Beef and a Lemon fried chicken and - WOW. Came out within minutes, and I tell you what, I don't often eat Chinese but this has swayed me and my partner who is a non vegan said it was one of the top meals he has had - ever! The mock meat was so similar to real meat and the flavors were all awesome! I wouldn't of been able to tell it was vegan, onion & garlic free! We left with full bellies and in a great mood because of this wonderful little find!

Best food I had all week in San Francisco. The only bad review I think this place ever got was from someone who thought they serve meat. I too at first was nervous that there was meat because they list fish etc on the menu, but it's all made of soy or some other veg ingredient. They have three menus plus a few secret items that people just seem to know about it. I had a mini wok filled with basil tofu and veggies that came with an "egg" roll, tea, and brown or white rice. They do beautiful hot pots and all sorts of other creations. Best Chinese food that I found so far.

Wow! This place was really great! I had no idea the Chicken I ordered was vegetarian! It was crazy! The only problems I had were that the noodles were kinda greasy and the chicken is kinda over priced for the amount you get.

I had high expectations for this place and was greatly disappointed. They advertise having mock meat and faux fish and I’ve had a lot better. We ordered the WON TON appetizers, THERE WAS BARELY ANY FILLING. We also ordered the LEMON “CHICKEN” they were literally patties with lemon sauce. It tasted more like faux ham. It was just so disappointing. And I spent over $50. NOT WORTH IT. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME. Service? It was okay. It wasn’t horrible but would I go back here? Definitely not. If you want better faux meat go to Big Lantern! This place honestly really sucks, anyone that raves about this place is most likely white meaning they have 0 taste buds.

Wonderful hidden place with a beautifully kind staff who clearly put their hearts into their work. They even gave me free sesame balls with red bean filling with my order! The menu has a million options, and everything I've tried so far is delicious. Highly recommend the salt and pepper fried pumpkin. I will never crave french fries again--this is the only fried food I'll ever need. I've been a vegetarian for 9 years so I have no idea what BBQ pork tastes like, but their vegetarian version was phenomenal. Great texture. The service is fast and I've never seen the place crowded.

I've visited Shizen about five times now. The many options that please both vegans and self proclaimed carnivores keep me coming back time and time again. Kind of weird because they spell all of the names of their menu items wrong. Just egg is not real egg, it's just egg. Seems like a trick at first, but turns out this place is all vegan. A French - Asian fine dining serving a marriage between locals to international luxury ingredients and cooked to a high degree of refined gourmet...

  • 5/5 AlvinS 3 years ago on Google
They prided themselves as the closest thing to a Michelin star restaurant in Bali, if not Indonesia, and rightly so. They do try to aspire to that standard. Been here 3 times and each time they never disappoint. They mix local ingredients with international imports perfectly. During this pandemic time, fresh international ingredients could be a challenge, hence our last visit was not welcome with too many gastronomy stuffs, but this only highlight their high standard of cooking and food presentation. Name any high end french restaurant in Jakarta, they simply don't cook foie gras as perfect as they do. What a taste of paradise in a paradiese island. While wine pairing is usually an excuse to sell over stocks or overrated wine, the folks in Mozaic really did well with their pairings. Overall was very pleased and will be coming back for sure. Worth the long trip to Ubud.

Honestly very big disappointment. If you want to pay this kind of money I definitely will recommend Aperitif in Ubud instead of Mozaic. Food indeed was very good. And wine pairing excellent. For these two I am giving 2 stars but for the rest... we ordered wine pairing but half glass as we always do in those kind of restaurant (also for instance in Aperitif or Gaggan in Bangkok). This glasses was a joke. We got shots of wine. We felt like in total we had a glass of wine per person which we paid for it almost 100 euro! In the end my husband ordered coffee and asked for a glass of water. He didn’t even get a water but we were charged for the whole bottle on the bill! Not cool when you paid 5,5 mln ruphia for dinner (which was absolutely not worth those kind of money) you can’t even get a glass of water free of charge with your espresso...

Some dishes are well executed and really good, others simply not. With a so high, claimed, restaurant level, a chef cannot mistake so grossly. In our dinner menu the octopus cooking was wrong, resulting hard and chewy. And the dry age duck breast more than aged tasted old. If somebody was checking the quality of the plates before being served, then he completely missed to check these dishes. Not worth the money.

This is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to in my life! The whole evening, from start to finish, was amazing and I cannot fault anything about it at all! Every dish was a work of art and the flavours were incredible. The outdoor garden was so beautiful, with a very romantic atmosphere and the staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. This was a very special experience and one I will remember for a long time.

Excellent food, very nice, but right now, I give only 4 stars only, because we show up to dining in and the ask for a photo ID and proof of vaccination which is totally fine, we have two minors and they are 12 and 13 years old, we didn’t have any ID for them so ,no idea of this , we didn’t see it on the website of the restaurant we just made the the travel to get our food to go , it get cold be time to get home, they should post this policy online

We ordered this as "Vegan Deadly Sins" on DoorDash- very good food, we would do it again! We liked the complimentary sesame balls, hot & sour soup, great PUNS on the menu- the tofu rolls were only okay.

  • 5/5 Alice W. 2 years ago on Google
This place exceeded my expectations! The menu is almost entirely vegan, with like 4 exceptions that are very clearly noted, and everything we tried was incredible. I recommend the roasted “duck” app and the spare “ribs”. Honestly, some of the best food I’ve ever had. It was super flavorful and I’ll definitely be back!

This place is close to where we live but we never tried it because it looks like a bit of a dump from the outside...but the friendly staff and great food make up for it. We went on Memorial Weekend so it was busier than usual. Waited about 20 minutes or so. But the food came quick and the food tasted really good especially the chicken chow mein. The General Tso was really good...the only negative is there's more broccoli than the chicken on the plate. We ordered crispy tofu, broccoli beef, chicken chow mein and General Tso chicken.

Incredible vegan/vegetarian food. The faux-meat dishes are unreal! So tasty! My only gripe is that the food is pretty expensive. Menu prices online are no longer accurate. Nonetheless, this is a really good spot for delicious Chinese food.

Be mindful lady you cannot force people to pay you tip. You get it when you have a great service. Do not harass costumer if they do not give you the exact amount of tip you want.

  • 4/5 Sonali B. 1 year ago on Google
The kung pao chicken is pretty tasty though it could have used a little more mock chicken. The braised ribs are ok, flavorful but the texture was a bit odd and it had the usual aftertaste of mock meat. Also they kindly gave us delicious warm sesame doughnut holes filled with red bean paste for free. We got takeout based on other reviews mentioning bad service

So far have had general TSO’s chicken and the lamb pumpkin taro in satay sauce. Think vegan I like vegan stir fry better than tradition. Faux meat here better than the real deal.

We ordered Singaporean Noodles, vegetarian chowmeen, curry fried rice and vegetables. All the dishes were good, Kids loved the vegetarian chowmeen.

  • 5/5 Shankar R. 5 months ago on Google
Popped in for a quick bite...everything is cooked fresh and served piping hot. I had the pumpkin fritters and a vegetable /tofu soup. The soup is packed with crunchy vegetables. If you want a kick..the chilli sauce suffices.
