I haven't been to Bix for almost 20 years. Saw them on Open Table and thought I'd try them out again. Boy, did we have a great meal. Had a nice cozy table for 2, with soft piano playing in the background. The restaurant was as dark as I remembered...dark, sultry, club feel. We enjoyed the ambiance for sure, but my old aged eyes definitely needed a light to read the menu! 😂 order 2 cocktails, which were strong yet tasty, ordered a salad and the bone marrow! The bone marrow was awesome! I had the Bix Burger and my wife ordered the salmon. Everything was cooked to perfection. Definitely wanted to make a shout out for the great service too. All around, it was a great dinner and I promise to come back sooner than 20 years! 😂😂

Staff was very friendly and went over specials. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary. The drinks were excellent as well as dessert. We would definitely come back.

Excellent food, great beverage options, top-notch service. Loved the live music - entertaining, but not distracting or overly loud. Overall, a great choice for our first night in town. P.S. the bone marrow is a MUST-TRY!

Great vibe in this classic with a gilded age atmosphere. Warm old school service. Food offerings are very basic (think grill) but a nice place for a night out

We were looking for a place that serves dinner after 9:30pm. We were not disappointed. The service, the ambiance and the food was more than I could have imagine. We will definitely visit again. I recommend Bix to anyone looking for a great restaurant with good, no great food. Oh and did I mention the live jazz trio. Fantastic.

Ambiance is beautiful, the bar is amazing with so many bottles of liquor it is absolutely beautiful. My drink was very nice, Long Island ice tea. Most of the food had a great presentation but the food was not as tasty as it looked. The service can use improvement. Portions are very small typical for a French restaurant.

Exactly what I thought a perfect night in San Francisco would look like. Great cocktails (I had the cat’s paw), great live jazz music and great food. My favorite appetizer was the potato pillow with the caviar. Shrimps cocktail was my least favorite. The chicken main dish was my family’s favorite. I had the homemade pasta and removed the bacon (not many vegetarian options here). Taste was great, however because the spaghetti was very thin, the dish got cold very very fast. So have that in mind. I loved the fact that you had the option to sit either upstairs at the balcony if you wanted a bit of privacy, or down where the musicians play where you feel a bit more included in the whole jazz vibes. Great experience all together.

I decided to go to Bix for the beautiful atmosphere and I was pleasantly surprised that the food was wonderful too. Of the starters we had, I particularly liked the Hamachi crudo. And we both loved our mains... the chicken and the trout. The cocktails were wonderful as well and we loved the live music. It was a top notch experience all around. Do be aware that it can be quite noisy as the sound bounces off all the walls (we sat upstairs... not sure if it's different downstairs). I am eager to go back again.

Lovely ambience, top notch service, and good food. I loved the live music and dim lighting. It’s just a classic :) our server was super professional and attentive, she was helpful but not pushy or interruptive. The warm bread and butter was a great starter. Our beef tartar was ok, i liked my Tennessee chicken bites, and my friend enjoyed her chicken hash. I think we were pleasantly surprised by it. I also really liked my spicy tequila cocktail. My only complaint was the limited entree options. That’s why i ordered an appetizer for my main dish.

Awesome place to sit at the bar, have some drinks and order some snacks. They give you a little bowl of Chex mix which is nice. Their rolls are really good and so is just about everything on their menu. If it’s a hot day out, they have A/C so it’s the perfect place to cool off. Also their steak is one of my favorites. Staff is always very friendly, the one female bartender makes the best espresso martini’s

This was a wonderful supper club and the 4 guests loved everything about the restaurant. The service was top notch and the menu and the food selection was over the top. The building itself is a renovated speak easy and the architecture and the trimmings were spectacular.

The ambiance was wonderful! They had a pianist playing that evening. He was very good, and made dinner more enjoyable. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. I ordered the wagyu and it was fatty. It was ok, but I felt it was way overpriced. I would go back just for drinks and the jazz band, or pianist.

Impecable! A must when in S Fco. Located on an alley off of Montgomery away from the 'beaten path'. Staff is attentive, courteous, and friendly. A magnificent setting with ample seating and live piano playing on Saturday. The lobster spaghetti and the NY steak are both plentiful and flavorful. Save room for the chocolate bread pudding or the daily sorbets. A short ride from Union Square. Highly recommended

Can we give six stars? This place is a San Francisco institution. If you're in town for a few days you should make it a point to stop by here. Have a drink. Grab a bite to eat. Hang out with some friends. They were for sure make you feel comfortable and at home and went here with the group of six people and everyone was treated great. The food was excellent. Decent wine list beer on top of course. Many cocktails to be had. Did we mention the live music? It's not enough to have a piano player, but there are also vocals to go on with it. It really set the mood for the evening

If you’re looking for a classic dining experience set in a mid century ambiance, maybe even “new york-ish”…this is it! And i meant that in the best way possible. Its a great place for a birthday or celebratory dinner. Live music and delicious food. You HAVE to get the bone marrow as well. This is up there with other legacy city institutions in my opinion. Yes yes house of prime rib, but bix is definitely a part of that conversation.

Great classy place. Top of the line service and presentation. I dined here with a great group of friends on July 23, 2024, and I had a great time. Everything from wine to food was delicious. My favorite was the grilled salmon. Absolutely cooked to perfection. I can honestly say the best salmon I had over my entire life. I highly recommend it.

With the family of 7, we celebrated my grandson’s birthday last night. The service right off made us very comfortable. Very attentive. With being 7 of us we have a pretty good sample of the menu. Everything we had was excellent. Of all the different dishes we had, I highly recommend the Caesar salad, shrimp cocktail, oysters, the marrow, steak, lamb chops (2), steak tartar,( very good), and the bananas foster. Those, of all we had were the best. So the food and service was great. I gave it only 4 stars because it was soooo noisy. We could hardly hear each other. Because it was so noisy, the piano music only added to the noise, instead of it being enjoyable.. Yes, the restaurant was completely full of people. Almost over crowded. So nobody was really listening to the music. The background noise sounded like a broken fan with its blades hitting something. With the noise level being that loud you could probably do without the background music. That might help tone down the noise level. Other than the noise, great restaurant.

Birthday request ignored: table for six on the floor was offered to 3 people, even though we got there 45 minutes before the reservation time and the table was free when they were ready for us and remained avaliable for a while. Instead, we were sent to the last table on the top floor, away from everything; by the service door. The server was great!

My friend and I sat at the bar, which was energetic and fun to observe all the happenings. Our bartender was Moises, who was lovely and kind. He helped us choose delicious wines and entrees. Since we were near the piano, we watched Mike, the pianist and even asked him to play an old favorite, to which he obliged. A perfect restaurant seated in a secret alley!

Great ambiance and amazing staff. They almost always have live music (jazz) with old school vibes. The food is good as are the drinks. Pictured below is the salmon.

Met some friends here for dinner and had a wonderful evening. This spot has the feel of a speakeasy with the nice deco, 2nd floor and live music. I had deviled eggs, grilled squid, pork chops with polenta and a spicy watermelon- jalapeño margarita. Can't wait to take the hubby here for a date night!

Haven't been to Bix in years. Glad to see the food and service are still top notch. My daughter loved it because it was like stepping back in time. Cocktails were delicious too.

Great food and service. The bone marrow and table side steak tartare were excellent. I usually get steak but opted for the pork chop and glad I did. It was outstanding. Steak was excellent as well. And the chocolate brioche was amazing. And love the live music. Will definitely go back. Oh, and getting there reminds me a bit of Spain, down an alley of sorts. Very nice.
