Great boutique hotel with nice well-maintained room and lounge! Stayed here for 1 night for our honeymoon, our room was upgraded which was nice. The view was great, room was huge and we really enjoy the design of the room. Lounge was also nice with free refill coffee and tea available. However, one thing to note is that the hotel location is 2 blocks away from Tenderloin area which has a lot of homeless. We were a bit scared living here initially, we could hear some gunshots at night. But fortunately, the staff was available 24/7 and the valet parking was convenient at $59. Overall, one of a kind experience lol and thank you for your great service!

I try to always stay at Marriott properties. Iā€™ve stayed in a lot of them. This has been one of the best ā€œbang for your buckā€ properties. The staff is some of the best I have seen at ANY property. They are all very nice and super professional. Cesar and Chris at the front desk were great. Marvin at the front door was SO friendly and my girlfriend and I had a great conversation with him while drinking our champagne. Marriott should strive for a Marvin at every front door.

Forced $25 charge to your room each day to be used in their restaurant which is open daily for limited time. That was not clearly disclosed. Ripped up office chair in the room. Poor service in the restaurant. Odd bellman that forcefully takes your luggage from the road all the way to inside your room. Not Marriott level hotel. Definitely not a 4 star hotel. Also in a terrible neighborhood. Canā€™t walk anywhere outside.

Nice Marriott property located a couple of blocks off Union Square. Furthermore, it has a few pubs in the right opposite the hotel, so weekend music can be a bit loud. The rooms in the property are of decent size and clean. I missed a hot water kettle in the room. (although one can always go to the ground floor and pick up tea or coffee which is kept for guests) The food of the property is also very good. I would recommend this place for business travellers.

Lobby, restaurant, and bar were all fantastic and the customer service was incredible. Rooms were old and in dire need of renovations, but the beds were comfortable and seemed to be new. The location was also a bit odd being just outside of the tenderloin, not great for being out and about after dark.

I had an amazing stay at Adagio, and I must highlight the outstanding service provided by Carlos. His attentiveness and kindness truly made our experience unforgettable. The staff's commitment to guest satisfaction, exemplified by Carlos, sets this hotel apart. Highly recommend for a pleasant and welcoming stay.

Staying here for a business trip. My room is very nicely appointed, larger than expected and has dual double hung windows which keep it very quiet despite being in an active part of the city. There are not a lot of amenities as itā€™s a small boutique style hotel but the 24 hour complimentary coffee bar is nice. The staff are all friendly and helpful. Itā€™s a pleasant stay and I would stay here again. There is a sign that says they are doing some renovations but I donā€™t hear any construction noise and it is not affecting my stay at all.

My family and I stayed here the week of Christmas, and we loved it! Our room was nice, and cleaned everyday. They are a pet-friendly hotel, so we were able to bring our dog with us. My husband and I took full advantage of the free champagne in the lobby šŸ˜Œ This hotel is right downtown in the Tenderloin neighborhood, so it was very close to everything. We rented a car and parked in the nearby garage for about $50 a night. It was also easy to pick up an Uber in front of the hotel when we needed to. The staff here are all great! The doorman, the hostesses, the cleaning staff, the bartender. All great! Everyone treated us very kindly. We would absolutely stay here again!

I changed to this hotel last minute (from the Courtyard around the block) due to a Marriott Bonvoy sale, and I am so glad that I did! The location was ideal for our mixed business/vacation trip. The staff treated us like we were at their home, doing whatever they could to make us feel comfortable and taken care of -- from free-flowing water, prosecco, and coffee/tea, to their friendly demeanor and excellent recommendations. The hotel itself is in excellent shape, with a good gym, welcoming lobby area, and other fresh decor. We also liked the room having a large shower, pull-out couch, and a comfortable bed. We particularly loved having a ceiling fan in the room and a motion activated nightlight in the bathroom! My only complaint is the mini-bar and the general manager telling us they could not remove the items because of the contract they had with their vendor, so I had to take measures to remove temptation by our 8-year old (covered it up).

Absolutely nothing to complain about. You can find bigger, grander, and more expensive options in the city but the Adagio will absolutely satisfy on comfort, cleanliness, and top notch service. Everything you need to relax and unwind after exploring the city. Enjoy a great meal or a refreshing drink at the Mortimer Restaurant, on property. Overall, the Hotel is a great example of maintaining historical charm, and updating to current comfort and expectations. A great location to navigate from, just up the hill from Market St and the Powell Street BART station. Grab a cup of coffee and stroll up to the top of Nob Hill, or saunter down to the cable car stop to enjoy a SF classic. Will definitely return.

The hotel is a great stay and at a great price. The staff are superb and extremely attentive. That remaining true, there are some issues. Each additional night requires a $100 deposit which takes nearly a week to receive back. Furthermore the neighbourhood is on the border of some rougher areas of the city. Both by day and night can feel somewhat unsafe as the hotel is surrounded by some quite unpredictable characters.

Location is great, there is lots to do in and around the area within walking or a short driving distance. Friendly staff, everything was clean and well maintained. I donā€™t really have any complaints about this hotel. Everything was perfectly fine. It just didnā€™t have the pizazz to give it five stars. However, it is currently under construction, so hopefully some of the upgrades will add that missing flair. Edit: Very nice to see that the GM responded, and I want to ensure it is clear that the staff was outstanding and everything was great. Iā€™m definitely interested to see what the renovation will yield, and I do agree that the reno is potentially what held back from a 5-star review.

Amazing staff and hotel. Very elegant and classy. My favorite hotel in San Francisco and possibly the entire US. Homeless issue around the hotel is pretty bad, but nothing that I havenā€™t handled before. Highly recommend

All of the staff were fantastic, especially Chris. He went above and beyond to make sure my stay went well. I had a frustrating experience with the (unaffiliated) car rental next door just prior to arrival which he tried to help resolve in every possible way, and made a (successful) heartfelt effort to improve my mood on top of it. Free champagne always does the trick. The 12th floor corner room was clean and had a great view of the city. I didn't notice any noise from the hallway or neighboring rooms. I had about an hour to kill late in the day before leaving for an 11pm flight, and the lobby was a comfortable spot to pass the time. I booked last minute and still got a good rate that included breakfast. Despite its proximity to the Tenderloin, the streets in front and around the property seemed OK. I walked alone to/from Chinatown (Northeast) at night and to Cathedral Hill (West) in the AM. There may have been more foot traffic than usual since it was fleet week, but still seemed fine nonetheless.

I was hesitant about staying here after reading some of the reviews. However we are very glad we stayed. The lobby was great. Complimentary coffee. Nice small and quiet restaurant. Front desk, especially Joanna, were outstanding in their service to us. The rooms were updated with great towels and amenities. But the most amazing thing of all is that I had something happen to me that has NEVER occurred before, despite staying at hundreds of hotels a maintenance worker said to me, "Thank you for staying with us." WOW!

Stayed here two nights in November. Great experience from start to finish. Front desk staff extremely helpful and courteous. Rooms were spacious and clean. Convenient location walking distance to all amenities. Really impressed.

I found it to be a very great hotel. We love the coffee bar. The restaurant was pretty good, a little pricey, but good regardless. They provide you free champagne, which is a nice touch and water at check in. The hotel is very clean and very well-kept. In all no complaints. The only reason why I canā€™t give it five stars is because of the neighborhood. It is certainly a diamond in the rough. The neighborhood is very sketchy to say the least.

Very comfortable and well appointed hotel. The king bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The bathroom was clean and the shower had great water pressure. Upon check-in we were given bottles of complimentary champagne and water, which is always a great touch. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and allowed us to check in several hours before actual check in time, as our flight arrived in the morning. The hotel has a small bar and restaurant. The restaurant serves the same food as the room service menu. Thereā€™s also a complimentary hot chocolate, tea, and coffee bar. Great after coming in from sightseeing on those cold winter afternoon. Though I have no complaints about the hotel, the neighborhood should be considered when booking. There is a large homeless population in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. Individuals are often seen meandering up and down the streets surrounding the hotel at all hours. I made it a point of not walking in the area and took an Uber everywhere I needed to go.

This hotel is vintage in all the right ways. It felt quintessential SF and the service was impeccable. Iā€™ve stayed at fancier Marriott options in the area and this one stands out being full service and OPEN for room service. Beautiful lobby plenty of tables to work. My room was large and well appointed. Not flashy but made this business trip comfortable and easy. Iā€™ll stay again and recommend.

One of the best San Francisco hotels I have stayed in. I was leery at first because the rate was lower than others in the area but I was pleasantly surprised. The staff there was fantastic, the room was very clean, the bed was comfortable and the shower was great. Conveniently located. Will definitely stay again.

TRAVELER(S) BEWAREā€¦ Marriott causing major mayhem between travelers!!! These people that run this hotel are the biggest liars and crooks I have ever experienced in my entire life. Iā€™ve has stayed at over 100 different hotels, both small and large chains) and have never, EVER, experienced one that is aggressive and as frivolous in its claims as this one!!! Please thoroughly review your bill over and over as this hotel is the most notorious for frivolous charges, and is the most aggressive in pursuing them! I stayed at this hotel for four nights and after checking out I reviewed my bill and noticed that there was a $250 charge on there. Come to find out they said I was smoking in the room which is the most absurd thing Iā€™ve ever heard in my life. Not to mention I was right across from the housekeeping/maintenance supply room, the emergency exit for my floor, and that my door was ajar of the whole time I was in there. Funny enough nobody said anything in the entire time I was there, but once again, they tried to frivolously charge me after I left the hotel and I could do nothing prove it at that point. Nonetheless, I contacted Marriott and the hotel was quick to refund me my smoking charges but needless to say they try to defame and frame me and they wouldnā€™t hesitate to do the same to you. And Iā€™m writing this not just as a consumer/ Travel Executive, but as a graduate of the Marriott International/ Hotel Excellent core training. Which at this point needless to say, Iā€™m utterly disgraced and disheartened to be a part of the Marriott family if this is the way, they disrespect and betray their clientele and/or Employees!

Great boutique style hotel. Historic building with a lot of charm. My room was stylish and comfortable, although I had a view of a brick wall about 12 feet outside of my window...so not at all. However that made my room fairly quiet. The service was nice and friendly, however I never got housekeeping to come in and clean my room. They tried once early in the morning and when I asked them to come back later, they never did. The breakfast benefit for Bonvoy Elite Members is a joke, get your points instead, unless you are ok with a pastry and bowl of fruit. As the hotel and building itself is nice and stylish, the location is not the best. Lots of homeless people, sketchy area, and quite dirty. I would definitely stay again, but would I go out of my way to book it? Probably not.

This hotel was just OK. It feels old and is in a bit of a ghetto area. The rooms are pretty small and the beds are hard. Cocktails in the bar were good though! If you want to stay at an autograph collection, would highly recommend the Clancy.

The staff are Extremely nice and accommodating. We are traveling and were able to get us an early check -in. They valet our car from quite a ways parked up the street, and brought it back to the hotel. We only asked if we could remove the drinks in the fridge that you buy to make space for our water.. next thing we know they are bringing us up a fridge without us even asking. Beautiful hotel, but the staff are what really made our stay!
