Beautifully manicured gardens with the best of San Francisco's views nestled in between large homes with steep steps up or downhill depending on where you start. A must visit much like the Painted Ladies of San Francisco.

A uniquely beautiful street in San Francisco, so steep that stairs replace the sidewalks. Beautiful location in Pacific Heights with a great view of the Bay and Palace of Fine arts. Also adjacent to an entrance to the Presidio Park. Stairs can be quite busy on weekends or weekday evenings with locals working out (doing laps on the hills for exercise). Running or even a brisk walk up the stairs will definitely get your heart pumping.

Although this may not be the most beautiful staircase in SF, it is certainly one with the best view. It's a breathtaking hike down this steps, because it's pretty steep, but also because it's so beautiful.

Nice spot on the corner overlooking the palace of fine arts and the city. It’s a great spot and you’d see many folks working out here at the top. Once you reach the top you can also walk down to Andy Goldsworthy's Wood Line which is probably a 5 minute walk from the top of the steps podium

If you want a nice view of the San Francisco Bay, Lyon Street Steps has it. It's rarely crowded and catches a refreshing breeze from the Bay at times. The southern part of the stairs has ample room for you to take your time on the steps while others run up and down them for their workouts. The northern portion is more narrow and steep, but if you're a fan of The Princess Diaries movie, 'Grove High School' is just a few yards away from them at the bottom. (Please do be respectful though and don't trespass onto the property - it is someone's home!)

View from the top is just stunning. It's a popular place both for the locals and tourists. The landscape is well maintained with a San Francisco Heart sculpture installation.

Highly recommend stopping by if you’re visiting. There’s a great view of the palace of fine arts and the marina, plus the houses nearby the steps are huge. It’s also a short walk from the Presidio.

While we didn't go down the steps it has a great view. if you walk just to the West into the park (at the top of the stairs) there is an even better view, aim for the wider area where there is a log on your right. it is about 75' in, on your right. The angles are just a bit better. there is not good parking (up top) but it is manageable as I recall, I did not drive. We only spent about 10 minutes, but that was enough.

You can see the roof of Palace of fine arts, breathtaking ocean view. Make sure to go down one more small steps beyond main Lyon street steps to see the house from The princess diary.

Excellent spot, with very good views to the bay, google is asking me about tickets to go to this place, no ticket needed at all, is a public space; if you are in San Francisco, you should spend a few minutes to visit this place.

Get ready to climb a bunch of stairs! There are many tourists here taking pictures, locals who are exercising going up and down the steps. The landscaping is beautiful. Towards the bottom, there’s a super huge red wood tree that towers over everything. Truly a beautiful place!!

Great view of the SF Bay. Also great to walk down the street and enjoy the breath taking houses

We came from the lyon/ green street and before you can see the famous garden/ steps you have to climb 126 steps (yes I did count them). But it’s totally worth it, it’s beautiful. And if you don’t want to climb as many steps, i recommend that you arrive by broadway/ lyon street.

Not crowded and has a few people running up and down the steps working out. Great view and in a quiet neighbourhood. Easy to find parking along the side streets.

Awesome views! Steep stairs! Gets your heart pumping! I meet here with my running group for something different and what a calf burner! In the group we do laps of 6-15 depending how good you feel!

Many people will come here for a workout, as they use the peaceful surroundings allow for stretching/static workouts and the long flight of stairs will create for a fantastic and tiring dynamic cardio workout. The stairs themselves are very nice and pleasant, and if you are ever nearby, it is definitely worth giving it a quick 15 minute visit

It's a good place to run up stairs if you want a hard running workout. Today we went to see Fleet Week and the Blue Angels.

Save money on a gym membership! Walking up and down the steep stairs like this one, will get you in great shape quickly. Plus, enjoy the spectacular view while exercising and have fun. The area seems safe.
