Brought my mom here for our first ever Michelin star dinner. It was absolutely worth jt. The waiter was amazing, the food was fantastic, we even got baked Alaska which was set on fire! Unforgettable. My mom said it was the best meal she’s ever had, and that’s exactly what I wanted. I hope to go again soon!

The lobster pasta and the appetizers were great. They presented a lovely vanilla cake as a birthday comp which was pretty and thoughtful. The baked Alaska is an event but was a little bit sweet. Service felt off and not entirely genuine. Not sure why they asked us to wait outside and it was a very confusing check in especially since I specifically reserved a table inside. They kept reminding us that the tip was included on the bill, which was awkward.

WOW! If I could I would give them 10 stars Experience was amazing. From the time we called saying that we were arriving late, the hostess was so kind and helpful on the phone, we knew we would have an amazing experience. It’s a 3 course menu with some additions. White asparagus and the carrots pasta were the best starters. Then the pork chop and risotto were amazing. They brought a special chocolate cake that was wow! The s’mores and creme caramel were great too. Service was so attentive and polite! We loved our waiter!

The food was exquisite. From the flavors to the plating, it was amazing. I had the scallops for appetizer, the lobster spaghetti for entree, and the s’mores cake for dessert. No complaints about any of them. The portions were just enough to fill us up without feeling bloated. The only reason I gave it 4/5 stars is because of the prices. We were under the impression that for $89 a person, we’d have a 3-course meal. Although that was the case, some menu items had up-charges and the drinks were kind of overpriced. A bill that we thought would come out to around $300 or less, came out to $430. The food was definitely worth it, but we felt a little deceived. Other than that, I 100% recommend.

We had an amazing experience here and I hope to be back some time soon. Possibly the best cod I’ve had in the Bay Area so far. Great quiet street with trees, really nice atmosphere. Awesome outdoors space. Thank you to the whole Spruce team.

My 128th Michelin restaurant experience. Places like Spruce are a dime a dozen, and if I did Michelin ratings, I probably wouldn't give any of these places a star. You can find menu items such as what is offered here at Spruce at 100s of restaurants in the U.S., with little in the way of true uniqueness or creativity. Add onto that that it's unclear what Spruce is trying to be (they offer fine dining-ish dishes but also a burger, pastrami sandwich, and caeser salad), and Spruce isn't a place I'd go again when spending $100+ per person. Course reviews below: 1) Broccoli Veloute (3/5) - I really like soups at nice restaurants, but this was pretty pedestrian. It tasted like a cream of broccoli soup I could get at a local market, which isn't bad, but isn't great. The only interesting part is the current puree contrast. 2) Apulian Burrata & Shinko Pear Salad (2/5) - Even more pedestrian than the soup. Nothing about this is unique or super tasty. The burrata was almost flavorless. 3) Taleggio Scarpinac (5/5) - One of the only reasons I'm giving Spruce a 3 overall (instead of a 1 or 2). This was delicious and unique. Ordered this as a main and flavors in each bite hit at different times (I love this effect in dishes). Presentation was also great. 4) Fennel & Coriander-Crusted Duck Leg Confit (2/5) - A massive miss because the duck was very very dry/overcooked. One of the worst ducks I have eaten. I loved the fennel & coriander crust, and just started eating that alone because the duck itself was so bad. 5) S'mores Cake (5/5) - In addition to the taleggio, this was the only other standout. Decadent, mouth watering chocolate cake. Loved the toasted marshmallow sauce pairing as well. 6) Apple "Pie" (3/5) - The apple and pie itself were fine but forgettable. Only the maple bourbon ice cream saved this dish. When only 2 of 6 dishes are really good, and the other 4 are very mediocre, that's a problem, especially for a Michelin restaurant.

Our team had a wonderful dinner in their private room. It easily fit 15 people. Service was excellent. Very attentive to detail and prompt. We had a fixed menu and all the food was good. Very tasty and presentation was very creative. I had the hamachi, wagyu steak, and s’mores. Nothing really blew me away except maybe the s’mores dessert at the end. But all was good. They provided us warm banana bread to take home which was wonderful the next morning.

Went back to Spruce tonight for our anniversary and couldnt be happier. Sommelier Michael took a great care of us and recommended a bottle that went really well with the entrees we got. Sarah was great from the beginning and till the end, taking great care of us. We got scallop and pasta for starters, Maine Lobster Spaghetti and Chicken for the entree. They were all so delicious and we could tell the staff put a lot of thought and creativity into crafting their food. We were seated outdoor and were worried if it was going to be cold, but they had many heaters and we were kept very warm. 5/5, we were very happy to be back and cant wait for the next time we are back here!

An amazing dinner in a gorgeous, luxurious environment with stellar service! I especially loved the gnudi and scallops appetizers! Excellent wine, too! (We had a good table, somewhat secluded, but main dining room was very noisy.)

Always a stellar experience at Spruce. You immediately feel taken care of and at ease. Quiet, yet bustling atmosphere, with options for every diner (whether constrained by time, diet, etc...) The team at Spruce continues to amaze me with their dedication to professionalism, continuously offering new special dishes each time I return to dine. Their flexibility and timeliness are unmatched and I eagerly await my next meal. Thanks for always taking such good care of me and my loved ones!

Spruce is a classy, elegant, restaurant in the heart of Pacific Heights. The wait staff is friendly, but unobtrusive. It reminded me of the quality of service I found at Chez Panisse. Luckily, I went to Spruce with three other people, including my daughter for her birthday. We got the prix fixe meals and delighted in every morsel. Rolls and bread were brought to the table with frequency along with delicious butter. Pictured you'll find a fantastic Bass dish, Duck, and our savory first courses. We reluctantly passed on the caviar and "truffle moment." Both sounded delightful, but we suspected we'd be pleasantly sated by what we had coming, and, indeed, we were. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. We were indoors, and I found that it was not as noisy as I remembered from a few years ago.

The menu is French which was a bit surprising but the food was amazing! This was the most perfect birthday and I would highly recommend celebrating any special night here. The truffle pasta was delicious. Cocktails were delicious. And their wine list is extensive.

Rigorously sustainable, located in a quaint area right by Golden Gate Park, Spruce is a delightful restaurant that won't break the bank for fine dining enthusiasts. Some exceptionally creative plates and a soup served LITERALLY out of a giant pumpkin were some real highlights of this night. Excellent flavor balance, edging toward overly savory if anything.

The service at this place is top notch, they iron the table cloth after each guest comes in! As for the food, it's amazing. Their selection of deserts really stands out! The Spruce burger and fries is one of the best combos I've had.

Had an amazing late brunch on a Saturday. 3-course menu for $75 was actually a good deal for the amount and quality of the food. We also really enjoyed the cocktails and the wine menu did not disappoint.

Am amazing lunch. The bread and butter was solid. I got the Nantes Carrot Fagottini (a beautiful pasta dish with a carrot pesto), and the Hokkaido Scallops with potatoes and braised leeks. It was my mothers birthday, so they treated her to a small treat 🥰 Definitely worth the experience. Great service.

Celebrated my engagement here and was treated with excellent food, drinks, and service. The Spruce team (shout-out to David and Patrick) allowed me to make a reservation way in advance. Everyone, from the hostess, to the sommelier, to our server, knew we were celebrating our engagement and congratulated us. Thanks for a special experience to celebrate our special day!

The perfect place to celebrate a birthday: an extraordinary meal, from start to finish. The duck breast was cooked the perfect medium, and the tuna was some of the freshest seafood that I've had. Normally, I'm not a huge fan of outdoor seating since it can be noisier and harder to regulate weather conditions, but Spruce clearly had this nailed to the T. Of course, the puff pastry donuts with the vanilla and chocolate sauce were the perfect way to top off an exquisite meal. Truly a unique fine dining experience!

The food and service were mostly as expected for a restaurant of this caliber. I had the sweetbreads, white truffle pasta (a chef's special), halibut, and the s'mores cake. My partner had the scallop, filet mignon, and beignets. In general, both food and service were excellent. However, the experience was not perfect. One of the four beignets for dessert was undercooked. A few bites of the squash served with the halibut had tough skin. The white truffle pasta and the s'mores cake were amazing. As much as I am happy I had this generally positive experience, I am disappointed that it was not perfect. The tasting menu is $89pp before taxes, fees, add-ons, and drinks. Expect to pay at least $150pp when coming here. Last but not least, I visited in December. The background music was all Christmas music, and not in a good way. The 12 Days of Christmas is probably the last thing I want to hear while I am eating a nice meal. Spruce, please consider changing your holiday playlist!

Dining at Spruce in San Francisco was a true five-star experience. From the moment we stepped in, the elegant and warm ambiance set the stage for an exceptional evening. The service was impeccable, with a knowledgeable and attentive staff that made us feel like royalty. The Michelin-starred cuisine was nothing short of a masterpiece. Each dish was a burst of flavors and textures, showcasing the chef's creativity and dedication to quality ingredients. The ça jar experience was extensive and expertly curated, enhancing every course. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or seeking a memorable culinary adventure, Spruce is a top-tier choice that never disappoints.

Simplified 3 course meal with options for each course. Recommend wagyu beef with truffles ($85+20). The wine list is massive. I don't know how they manage the inventory and retrieval. Excellent presentation and my sea food journey was exemplary! Have a private room for upto 10 people in the back. Also outdoor seating with heaters

Beautiful setting for an evening out. Great service and the waitress took her time to give recommendations and describe the dishes. There were a few complimentary bites a long the way that were a pleasant and welcome surprise. Cocktails were balanced nicely and the food cooked to perfection with plenty of sauces!

The restaurant has a nice mood and good service manner. Food is not unique, but cooking is perfect. Wine is so many but too expensive. Two courses are good for lunch. They celebrated my husband's BD. Thank you so much. I will have lunch soon.

I chose this establishment for a breakfast birthday celebration, and it surpassed our expectations. The warm welcome, impeccable food quality, and thoughtful cake surprise elevated the experience. This venue excels in both hospitality and culinary artistry.
