Relaxed vibes with high quality food and service. Original dishes that surprise, yet satisfy. Their sharing plate concept for a convivial experience to share with friends and family. Besides loads of delicious vegetarian options, the fish dishes and duck are a must try. Amazing and attentive service 👏

I’ve never been more convinced that progress is a beautiful thing. In this case, The Progress. The atmosphere is spacious but cozy, rustic and modern at the same time. The cocktails are outstanding. The staff is exceptional by every measure. The food… well this is why we’re here. The food is absolutely phenomenal. There is nothing on the menu that won’t deliver an involuntary sigh of joy, but if you need some direction: the tempura squash, the burrata, and the caviar cloud are a good start, and if you don’t order the duck you may want to reconsider your life choices. I mean look at that dish. You could take a photo and frame it, it’s so beautiful.

I came here after trying state bird provisions and I simply cant decide which one I like best. They are both the best restaurants in SF in my opinion. Great huge portions, a wholesome menu with different options. All will blow your mind. Just delicious. Can’t go without trying the duck and the fish. They are just divine. I wish the fish was a little more spicy but it’s just so great in flavors that I can let that pass. So bring a big group of friends because the portions are big. It’s a great place for a date, but if you really wanna enjoy it you wanna come with more people. They have a great wine selection, even beer, and good cocktails too. There’s a reason why the one punch man cocktail is their signature cocktail. Desserts are good too, specially the peanut milk. Perfect ending. It is a bit expensive, but considering the food quality, ambiance and the portions all good.

The Progress was my first Californian experience, and it was great. I loved the atmosphere of the place, and the food was great. It is a bit hard to find parking, but other than that, the place is highly recommended

The food was pretty good, a nice balance of flavours, but it felt like it was lacking some complexity that other restaurants have. Our server also gave off a strong impression that we were inconveniencing him by asking questions or adding extra food into our order part way through the night. I'm sure it complicated his evening, and I'm sorry for that but the eye rolls, and standing next to our table sighing and tapping his foot made for a very uncomfortable experience. Overall, the meal was decent, but not Michelin guide worthy. I would recommend looking for something else.

Everything we ate tasted good. I appreciated the input of the knowledgeable server. The cocktails were good and the off menu drinks like a sazerac were also good. I was not a fan of the island dessert we had.

I’m a big duck fan and always get duck wherever I go. For the first time in a while, the duck was actually good. It was cooked perfectly - juicy and tender. The complementary fried rice was ok - a bit too soft? And clumped together? Maybe I’m just used to Chinese fried rice. The other appetizers were good but not outstanding. My favorite was the potato caviar cloud.

We’ve been to almost all of the 1 Michelin starred restaurants in SF and this might be our favorite. Beautiful interior. Reasonably priced. Absolutely delicious food. The duck is a must.

All the dishes were delicious and well presented. Had the half duck - very good, but is a very big serving so it’s good to prepare for that. We couldn’t finish this dish as it was the last one out. Didn’t like the green seaweed side that came with it. Fried rice is on the spicier side. Black cod fish - delicious. Greens added a nice flavor to soft fish. Spot prawn bread - one of our favorites! The sauce was amazing. Potato bread - yummy! Burrrata with beans - beans were crunchy

We went to The Progress as our first dinner in SF. The location and the staff were very nice. The food was very good and the wine list had some interesting choice of natural wines. Even though the overall experience was very good, we were expecting more generous portions.

What a hoot. The philosophy behind the menu is interesting in creating a progression through the meal. The menu was light and small plates made it a great social sharing vibe. Our server recommended an excellent bottle of wine and was extremely personable and attentive. Overall, a great experience. Look at the fun dipping salad pic tho.

One of our favorite restaurants in SF. Highly creative and flavorful cuisine that blow your mind. The portions are not huge but that’s because there’s so much thought and effort put into each dish, which you can taste! Delicious cocktails as well, fun sitting at the bar. Thanks and we’ll be back soon!

Great food. On the pricey side. Mixed service - service was fine, but a little slow (because it was busy), and they booted us out less than a few minutes after collecting our credit card… and admonished us for taking too long. I get times are tough for restaurants, but the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Despite the excellent food, I’m not rushing back.

Excellent food, great flavors and good atmosphere. Prices were also reasonable. My opinion is that Californian cuscine has lots vegetable choices and pretty healthy, which made their dishes and plates uniquely matching its food style.

The food at The Progress had the most unique flavor combinations and dishes that I have ever tried. The presentation was stunning and the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and answered all of our questions. They made sure we ordered enough food to get full since the portions are generally on the smaller side. My favorites were the caviar potato cloud and the masa dumplings. It is a pricier restaurant but well worth the experience.

I wanted to love this place because I adore the ambiance, the drinks and the service, but the food is just kind of average. The duck is a wow, and we liked the seaweed noodles, but everything else we ordered was just average. This is one of those places where the food sounds innovative and fresh but in reality the ingredients just don’t work that well together and they end up just tasting kind of bland. The portions are incredibly small too. With the four of us, we pretty got one bite per person from each dish except the half duck which had huge portions. We ordered: - half duck: recommend! - seaweed noodles: very unique and pretty tasty - potatoes with nori: good - crispy tofu: meh, pretty underwhelming - dumplings: not good - halibut: very average - tempura: very bland We also went to the sister restaurant State Bird Provisions a few years back and didn’t like it.

Highlight dinner from our trip. My wife and I are from New Orleans and know good food and a proper dining experience. This place had it all. The food, drinks, atmosphere, wait staff and architecture were all excellent. The only thing that could have been better was the pace of the food. It wasn’t paced consistently but not enough to drop it a star. Would 100% reccomend and go back.

This is my new favorite restaurant in sf. All of the dishes were tasty but the seaweed noodles blew all of our minds and the duck is incredible for the price. The only thing we would skip would be the octopus pancake. We'll definitely be back!

Unique flavors. Portion is well designed. We follow the suggestion ordered one small bite, one vegetables, one dish, and one platter for two people. Service is great. Reservation required.

One of my top spots in SF! Everything was perfect! Must get the duck dish. We had 4 dishes + 2 desserts just two of us. We were really full! Recommend order one each for cloud potato cause I didn’t think I would like this but now I want to go back for this. For two, recommend ordering 3 dishes max if you’re getting duck dish.

A coworker had the masa dumplings and the sausage salad dishes. He liked both of them. I wasn't hungry. Just got the ginger soda which was fresh and great. The place is very warm and welcoming with all the wood in the space. The double floor is nice. Worth a stop in town.

Our waiter was very friendly and described the menu to us to help us decide what to choose. We decided to order 5 dishes as recommended. The first 2 dishes were excellent and the portions were big. My friend and I took our time to enjoy the food. Before our main dish arrived (half duck), a man came to our table and told us our main dish was on its way, but we had to hurry and eat fast because they had other guests waiting for our table. I could not believe this! I looked around and saw that the couple on our right, who arrived before us were not approached by the man and so did not the man on the left who was dining alone. I can't help but think we were being singled out as we were the only dark-skinned persons in the restaurant. The man later identified himself as Eric, the assistant manager of the restaurant. My friend and I who are both healthcare workers, have been looking forward to having this dinner for months and he just ruined it for us! The duck arrived, was very good, but we were not able to really enjoy it. We took most it to go and did not order dessert, although we would have loved to. Having a Michelin Star is not just about the food, but it is about the whole experience and we had a BAD ONE!

This was on my list for a very long time. It’s a classy place with great quality food, friendly staff , classic meals with full of flavours and add a touch of special to it. Definitely a good spot for a special occasion. It’s booked mostly, recommended doing a reservation a week in advance.
