We showed up for dinner without reservations on a Saturday night at 5:30 during Fleet Week. We were told the wait would be an hour and 10 minutes. Three minutes later two spots opened at the bar, so we dined there. Frances was our bartender and he was fantastic. So personable and attentive despite how busy he was. The food was very good. I had crab cakes and the roasted beet salad. My husband had the black cod. Th best salad had a wide mix of flavors and the crab cakes were delectable. The scenery off the pier after dinner was gorgeous.

If I rated just on the cocktail this would be 5 stars. Ordered an old fashioned and the bartender nailed it. Muddled with the orange peel. It was fantastic. The fish entrees were perfectly cooked and delicious. The crab cakes were delicious and I loved that they served one each on separate plates for my date and I. My only knock is that I felt it took a little long to get some service and our bill when we were done for the night. Expect to pay a premium for this meal because of where it's located, but the food and cocktails made it an enjoyable overall experience.

Whenever I visited San Francisco, Scoma's was always my must go. Been to this one and Sausalito location, loved both. As expected, food was top notch, service on point. Enjoyed my meal with beautiful view. Couldn't wait to go back. Highly recommend.

We heard Sausalito was a place to visit. Crossing the Golden Gate Bridge we entered into Sausalito and it was very scenic unlike anything I’ve seen in North America. The atmosphere was as like in Europe and we decided to try this restaurant as highly recommended by others. I gotta admit we got there early as they don’t open until 11:30. Without reservation we were able to get seated and the place quickly started to fill up. I ordered the Alaskan Halibut along with mussels and shrimp as appetizers. The sauce was very well made for appetizers and tasted great with bread. Overall, I’ve been to lots of restaurants and this would rate up there for sure. It’s not cheap but well worth a visit if you are willing to spend the price. Reservations would be recommended.

Had a meal here whilst visiting San Francisco as we were told ‘it’s where the locals eat’. The location isn’t very scenic, it’s nestled down a road surrounded by industrial space for the fishing industry on the docks. Inside it’s rustic with wood panelling but surprisingly large. The waiters are generally older men and you get the vibe this is quite a ‘historical’ place. The service is good and my family of 5 ate really well. The food was great and I enjoyed the Seafood Mixed Grill. My 10 y/o loved the mussels marina too. I’d recommend this place but expect to pay top prices e.g $45 for the seafood grill.

Classic San Francisco institution, old school menu and service, hundreds of celebrity photos on the walls. Great fresh seafood, in particular the cracked crab cocktail, fresh roasted crab, and crispy cannoli. Excellent warm sourdough. Feels like dining on a boat. The complimentary valet parking is a great plus. Fun date night place.

Did the grilled fish sample plate and all three fish portions were delicious. To be honest the shrimp part was good but not that special. And by the time they add the sides to the plate it's too much to eat. The Rum Old Fashion was great too!

Classy. What a great restaurant in such a special location. This is a real treasure. We had a great dinner spread out over a couple hours. Drinks were good. Clam chowder was excellent. I had the sea bass. My wife had scallops and shrimp. And for dessert, we shared the 7-layer cake — that was something to remember. Service was polite and never rushed. Atmosphere was friendly. Plenty of tourists around us. But we loved the setup, and the food was excellent!

Had an amazing weekend dinner for a birthday celebration here. The food and atmosphere was fantastic. The seafood was FRESH given it was basically a farm to table meal. Had yummy mussels, oyster shooters, and a fried combo to taste all the different flavors of the bay! The drinks were curious and some really amazing complex options to pair with the food as well. Wine menu was perfect and all of this was definitely less than I thought I would spend for such quality food. Highly recommend this gem! 💎

Sit looking out at the water from this restaurant on the warf. It has a fun and classic supper club feel, and superb seafood. The bartenders make very good drinks and can be creative with making your cocktail if you ask.

This was our very first time and we had a fabulous time celebrating my kiddo’s birthday. You know it’s going to be good, fresh seafood when you walk by the building where the fresh catch is prepped for the restaurant. Our party ordered the Bees Knees cocktail, a Manhattan, and some wine to start. Their clam chowder is now my favorite. My daughter and I shared the scallop dish, and others ordered the mixed seafood plate and fish and chips. All were delicious and generous sized portions. The wait staff was super attentive and we enjoyed the entire experience. This is a must do for dinner in San Fran!

Seafood restaurant in Italian style. Food seems ok but service is extremely good, worth for 22% tip. :) We reach to SF quite late, so we come to the restaurant nearly 8p.m. All the restaurants will be closed at 9p.m. They are very crowded, but the staff warmly welcome us with the smile that make us forget the cold outside. Everything was handled very smooth, they suggest us for our team. In fact, food is not extremely good, but the man makes it unforgetable. Highly recommend to come there and enjoy the atmosphere :)

We love Scoma- the seafood is excellent and the service is top notch. We had the mixed Grill and the shellfish Seafood Sauté. Each was amazing. If you like shellfish- you can’t go wrong with the Sauté - if chunks of crab, shrimp and scallop in a wonderful light sauce. For the fish lovers, the mixed grill had nice size portions of Salmon, Black Cod and Halibut. The veggies are perfect. We didn’t have room for dessert or appetizers but it was fantastic.

Our first night in San Francisco, we wanted to be spoiled and have some fresh fish, Scoma's delivered on both counts. Hostess was sweet and got us in rather quickly and our server Han was energetic and knowledgeable about menu. Han made some excellent recommendations and confirmed our selections as great choices. Definitely an excellent dining experience so don't miss out, see for yourself!

Location is good, we were able to park nearby. It has a charm of a sort of island seafood restaurant. View of fishermen in their boats and their catch and San Francisco or Golden Gate Bridge depending on where you were seated. Definitely make a reservation. This is where I usually take my visitors whenever they are in town. We had various orders over the years but this one was the most recent. The crab is always the reason I come here for. Their salads good too.

Great fresh seafood. I would give this a 4.5 if that was an option. We had the clam chowder which is possible the best I’ve ever had. The Cioppino was very good and the sauce was nice. The fish and chips (from the kids menu) were very tasty and the tartar sauce was fantastic. Service wasn’t the greatest but wasn’t terrible. Just felt our server didn’t really want us there since we had a young child on a busy night. That’s understandable.

Great hidden gem! For lovers of clam chowder this is must stop restaurant. Soup was delicious among fresh fish that was brought in that morning. Service was great. There is out door seating which would be wonderful on a sunny day. It was a little to windy to sit outside the day we visited.

If you’re looking for authentic non tourist trap food in San Francisco this is the place! Fish right off the boat. It’s so fresh and delicious. Best clam chowder I’ve ever had. Service was great and we got to sit outside with a nice view of the bay. A little on the pricey side but absolutely worth it!

Had an amazing dinner here as a recommendation from our hotel check in clerk at the Marriott. Could not have made a better recommendation. The food was incredible and the service great. The service is very personable while staying professional. Really makes you feel at home there!

So good! Fisherman’s wharf is mostly tourist traps but this place is delicious. Quick service, healthy portions, and quality fish. Feels a bit old-style in a city full of hip and modern places, but it was neither stuffy nor pretentious. The mussels were huge, and the best mussels I’ve ever had.

Loved it here! We got here around 3 on a Friday and it was just slightly busy. They offer indoor and outdoor seating and the restaurant is just off the main walking path making it even more enjoyable. Our server (Ray, if I remember correctly) was wonderful. He was very prompt, very helpful and a joy to talk to. Our drinks were made very well and we also ordered calamari, the ciopinno as well as some fried seafood (scallops, prawns, etc). Everything was delicious but the ciopinno was the absolute favorite of everything. Had a great sauce as well as lots of seafood in the dish. Overall, this was one of our favorite places to eat and visit during our trip.

Our server Guss was very knowledgeable about the menu, very mature, and his white coat really set the tone for his professionalism. The Restaurant was full, and the prices were very reasonable. All of the seafood was very fresh and nothing was over cooked. The drink I had was called the apothecary and it was an amazing take on gin and tonic.

Very cozy and classic with delicious seafood you never regret getting here. My area was too crowded which hard for us to get the staff to make orders. It would be better if we could pick a table with less crowd in a quiet place.

  • 5/5 Elaine L. 2 years ago on Google
Great service. Large portions. The restaurant is divided into rooms making it feel more comfortable. Bread and butter in the beginning was standard. I thought the calamari was a bit too eggy. Fries were great. Crab cakes lacked structure. Cioppino was amazing and I appreciated the peeled crab. Lumachini was prob the best thing we ate. Drinks were solid. The bar while you wait is a nice touch especially with the cold bay breeze outside

Wow, food is excellent! Must make a reservation ahead of time. Great views. The sourdough bread was heaven, we ate 2 loaves. Crab cakes were divine. Entrees we’re great and fresh. Cannolis we’re just ok, have had much better ones elsewhere.

We drove from the east coast and had to eat seafood from the west coast. We asked a Police officer where a good place was to eat. He recommended Scoma's. We ordered the sampler and WOW it was so delicious! You see boats pull up, empty the fish at the cleaning station and then taken to the restaurant. That's as fresh as you can get!

  • 5/5 Sheila H. 1 year ago on Google
WOW. exceptional!!! Amazing value with great service, creativity and quality! The drinks were perfect, mushroom soup was the best we have ever had, the beet salad was perfection, the fish trio was awesome (salmon, black cod and regular cod). The salmon was fantastic, next time I would get a salmon meal. 2 sides parmesan polenta and warm grain salad, both were very good. Highly recommend this place. We will definitely be back!

It was just simply delicious. Amazing food, great atmosphere and very beautiful place. We got Cioppino and Mixed Seafood Grill. Our waiter Jean was beyond stunning. Definitely worth every penny. And we will totally come back!
