We went here for my son while visiting him. We knew going in this is a big tourist trap but seriously the crab was over priced and over cooked (check out the photo of what $115.00 gets you). We did the Two Too Crab feast that said it fed 3 people and it barely served 2 people. Top it off with a ton of their Secret Garlic Sauce which overwhelmed the taste of the crab. The crab was dry and over cooked. Total waist of over $115 just for the crab. Then the clam chowder tasted like it had flour dough not mixed into the soup. Granted it has those big windows facing the ocean, but at night time you can't see a thing. Our waiter only came by to drop off our food, he had to be asked to come over and refill our drinks. Bottom line if you want great crab and a lot for a great price, I suggest going to a Joe's Crab Shack. This place is a waist of your money.

So we had no idea what to expect when we arrived at fisherman's wharf because it ended up being an unplanned visit. So we were hungry and the place looked awesome. It was! The view was amazing over the bay and of Alcatraz. Binoculars were attached to our seat for better viewing. But that is where the good ended. Our waiter was not very attentive and the food was very pricey and honestly not that good. we had the crab and shrimp. Could just have been the cook but we were not impressed given the presentation and cost. We would definitely go elsewhere in the future and I recommend that anyone else not get caught up by the amazing look of the place and walk up the pier further before deciding. Hunger blinded us.

After catching up on some of my Google reviews, I realized that I never rated/commented on this restaurant so unfortunately, this is an extremely late post. My family and I visited this restaurant while we were in town sightseeing and in anticipation of watching our team play (and win) against the "Oakland" Raiders. Needless to say, we had a great time visiting the bay area and this restaurant was a major contributor to that experience (we still talk about to this day). We currently live in Las Vegas so visiting a restaurant right next to the ocean is always an appreciated experience. We ended up ordering the crab cake, clam chowder (of course), 2-lb whole crab, shrimp/crab combo, salmon with garlic lemon caper butter sauce, crispy roasted mixed potatoes and vegetables, and another entree (I can't seem to remember what it was). Regardless, all we can remember is that EVERY entree that we ordered were spectacular. Sitting right next to the window and being able to see the water/Alcatraz from our table was amazing. Also, there's something about eating seafood while staring at the ocean...just makes the whole experience very relaxing and at times, seems to make me love seafood even more (if that's possible because I've always loved seafood). The food quality was outstanding - definitely comparable to my experiences in my home state of Hawaii. The food quantity was adequate...I mean, if you want to have 62 lbs of crab right in front of you for under $50, then go buy some frozen seafood at Wal-Mart or something. The price to quantity/quality ratio at this restaurant is outstanding if you ask me. Not to mention, you are sitting next to the water and you're dining in one of the most expensive cities in this country (why we don't live in CA). So I don't understand why people are complaining about the prices (which you can research before arriving), and the quantity (you must be a world class buffet eater or something). The staff at this restaurant were very friendly, professional, and attentive - I/we appreciated that! To be transparent, I'm not sure if we'll ever visit this restaurant again since I don't anticipate visiting San Francisco or Oakland any time soon. BUT, if we do, then we are definitely eating here again! Thanks for the phenomenal, first experience!

Excellent view and good food for a relaxing dinner. I was solo on this dine in and it was a great setting for solo travelers or couple traveling together. There was no wait and the food hit the spot. Order something unique…I have the European Bass…full of flavor.

Service was great, the gentleman really took care of us even to helping us cut the crab into smaller portions. We didn’t come at a busy time, no rush. Very chill. Great view of course and the restaurant being at that location is bond to cost more. But the food didn’t really live up to the hype. The veggies were not fresh, and the crab was very expensive, with the herb and sauce over powering the crab taste. The mixed drink that the host recommended was very strong despite we asking for something not too strong. Crab cake was decent, a little salty and. It allowed for the crab flavor to come.

This place was the perfect end to the day, so absolutely adorable, with the semi-private booths, red leather seating and binoculars attached to dining areas, so that one can get a close-up view of Alcatraz, or the antics of passing sailors on their vessels. The food was highly over priced for what you get but the service was alright and the wine was inexpensive, relative to the food so, obviously we drank our sticker shock away and stuffed ourselves with all things seafood. I'm not crabby about it!

I recently visited this place, expecting the usual hustle and bustle associated with tourist areas, but I was pleasantly surprised. The location is fantastic, easily accessible yet not overrun with crowds. This made the experience much more enjoyable. What stood out the most was the service. The staff was extremely attentive and helpful, ensuring that our visit was comfortable and memorable. It's refreshing to find such dedicated service, especially in a touristy location. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a peaceful yet vibrant spot in the area. Great job!

Absolutely hands down my favorite restaurant at Fisherman’s Wharf. The view of the Bay is incredible. The ambiance and decorations are top notch. The restaurant and bathrooms were very clean. The service, drinks, food and dessert were all amazing! I even love their mermaid tail designed silverware. We went the first day on the way to the Red & White fleet sunset cruise but ended up eating elsewhere not realizing what a gem this was right next to the cruise. So the next day we went back for a full meal. The Dungeness crab was so good! And the clam chowder in a bread bowl is a must try! Busy place but we never called ahead for a reservation and were sat immediately. Although in busier months, I would verify. I’m sure this place gets packed as good as it is!!

Returned for the fourth time to celebrate a birthday. The food tasted amazing and the service was very attentive, helpful and friendly. We had the crab feast, which you can never go wrong with. For appetizers, crab spinach fondue and calamari. The fondue is super cheesy and full of chuncks of crab. The calamari is perfectly breaded and fried. This is the first time I've had their dessert. The chocolate mousse cake was so creamy and paired perfectly with the side of French vanilla ice cream.

I’m surprised to see 2 and 3 start for that restaurant, because this place is amazing. We have been there for the first time and definitely will come back. The food is delicious. Not so huge portions, but so tasty!! We had 2 crabs, Alfredo pasta for kiddo and oysters. I swear this is the best oysters I have ever tried. Soooooo gooood 😭. The view is amazing, the waitress was polite and friendly. Our check was around 240$ without tips, but if you want to spend good time with your family and friends, to eat some fancy and tasty food- I recommend that place👍🏻.

Had some really good crabs and clam chowder. The service was quick and friendly. The food is expensive but worth it

Wanted some classic clam chowder but a nice indoor setting. The chowder, although an appetizer, was DEFINITELY enough for just a meal. We also added crab cakes. All was delicious, very much intend to return.

Good food. Day time view is very nice. Beautiful ambience. Good service. Bathroom is really dirty though&service gets a bit slow towards the end with refills. Other than that, it's almost always a pleasant experience. Oh! But 3 little pcs of crostinni for $28 was an unjust&regretful order..didn't taste like it should be that high either. Everyone enjoyed everything else in the pictures below. 5stars for the host alone. &the chicken alfredo was bland (for my taste). It was better when I poured in the garlic sauce on. Fish&chips was yummy! I would get that again. $275(without tip) was an expected deal for today...2 of the pictures were from last week's visit so no,not everything here totalled $275

Exactly as beautiful and delicious as I imagined. As a seafood fanatic, I had high hopes for the food. I was very impressed with the wait staff, cooking staff, and the food itself. Amazing atmosphere inside, will definitely be returning whenever in the area again.

I spent the afternoon here to celebrate my wife’s birthday. She wanted seafood with a view and we accomplished that. The atmosphere was amazing, we felt casual with a touch of class. The views were amazing, staff and service was exceptional. The sea bass was cooked just right and the vegetables added just the right amount of complimentary flavors. My wife truly enjoyed her dish, the only complaint was having to use her hands for the crab but I got a kick out of it!!! The cheesecake with the raspberry drizzle and ice cream was definitely the icing on the cake!!! Will definitely be back!!!

Nice views, good service. I like the old look and decor of the restaurant. Ordered wedge salad for lunch. Portion was on the small side. Bar Drinks were good. Dessert was vanilla custard ice cream. Portion was definitely for 2 people. Decent restaurant overall, would likely return when I'm in SF.

The bestest seafood spread!! Service is absolutely spectacular and incredibly fast. The food is out of this world amazing. The prices are a little scary but it's honestly worth every penny.

Lovely food, lovely service and amazing view! Highly recommend seafood lovers to come here. I was served by Michaela who was really friendly and tentative. Really enjoyed my fish and chips, the sea food here was so fresh!

Great view in a great location! Definitely pricey and the crab was okay. Started with house salad while hubs enjoyed the chowder and we shared 2lbs of crab which was a bit dry. Very good service though!

Enjoyed a visit to the Franciscan Crab Restaurant with a group on a recent trip to the Bay Area. Food was all very tasty (including the calamari, crab and spinach fondue, and crab fettuccini) but is priced at a premium due to the location. Well worth a visit once though to take in the sunset and views of Alcatraz!
