I am sharing something really sensitive to me in hopes that it won’t happen to you or your loved ones. I was traveling at stayed at your Courtyard Marriott on Van Ness in downtown San Fransisco and my room was robbed. I feel like the hotel should be held responsible for the full amount of everything that was stolen from me. A thief was allowed to walk right into my room, go through all of my personal belongings and steal whatever they wanted. The hotel never filed a police report when they said they would or get a case number within the company. I called the police, waited half a day in my room for them to come and got the report. I know the police have a bunch of other issues to deal with, but want to give a BIG thanks to #SFPD for being so kind and helpful when I was frantic about the whole ordeal. I had to call the 800 Marriott number and create a case because the hotel failed to do that as well. I was told by the supervisor that I would be reimbursed for everything, but was not. I am doing all of the work when the hotel should be doing this. I was given a sloppy apology and $1,500 which does NOT cover the thousands of dollars worth of my things. Because of this, I missed my cousin’s wedding, family photos, touring the city and several events. I spent 2 out of the 4 days in San Francisco stressing and dealing with this nightmare because the hotel did not do their part in taking responsibility. They failed at having security protocols in place during housekeeping. The hotel costumer service was the worst I have ever experienced. I’m extremely disappointed and do not want this to happen to another guest in the future. I hope someone will look into the incident and correct the mistakes that were made.

A great downtown hotel option in the City that feels like a much higher category than a Courtyard. I recently spent five nights here, working from the hotel during the day. The hotel is fairly small, but the commons areas are nice for working or spending time. The hotel feels like it is a historical hotel that has been very nicely renovated with modern colors, details, and storage options. I reserved a "large king," which came with a nicely sized room on the Van Ness Street side of the hotel and a large bathroom. Although there was no closet, I was very surprised by the ample storage and desk space available. It was perfect for working there and a great place to visit friends and families in the non-downtown neighborhood. The only drawbacks are no housekeeping with a request (but a lot of people are doing this now) and no loading zone in the front of the hotel (park in the alley or on Geary). I've stayed at multiple Marriott properties throughout the city, and this is certainly one of the nicest places, particularly for a Courtyard.

First time staying here. I stayed here cause it was so close to the venue I was attending. The staff was awesome and very nice. The young lady at the front desk was very professional. Neighborhood isn't that bad. I didn't get approached or had any problems. The hotel has great security. You need to use room key to operate the elevator. The room is small but comfy. I'm very tall, so I got king-size bed. A couple sandwich spots nearby and one inside hotel. I would for sure stay here again. Only problem was snacks could have been better but cool that they have a little store after hours.

Location is okay but super sketchy in the evening and didn't feel secure entering and leaving the building at night. Parking is expensive and spots are extremely small in their lower level. So no suv space do beware. Rooms are tiny and well decorated hotel but I can have stayed at a much nicer location and had a better experience for the price we paid

The hotel is renovated and nice inside! The staff was always super friendly and happy to help or answer any questions. The location was convenient as well to get around San Francisco. I did not give this a 5 star review as the rooms are tiny and unfortunately we had stains on our sheets that were not addressed. When approaching the front desk, they assured me that a manager would contact me during my stay and I am still waiting for someone to contact me after having checked out 3 days ago. Not what I expect from a Marriott property and while being a bonvoy member.

The only thing I liked about this Marriott was the decor. Staff were not terribly helpful. One towel, one washcloth provided for 2 guests. Bed was pretty soft…too soft for our liking. We ordered breakfast from DoorDash, and because the hotel does not allow dashers to come to your room, there is a table where they are to leave orders, and someone swiped it in the three minutes it took us to go down and get it. I would suggest they move the table where staff can see it, to act as a deterrent to this happening…OR allow dashers to deliver to rooms. You need to either be let in to the hotel to enter the building or use your room key, so why not? When waiting for our second order, I observed unmasked guests interacting with the staff, and they were not reminded that masks are required for ALL guests. The shower water pressure was poor and the stall was tiny - 24” wide. Won’t be back.

We didn't feel the safest to walk around at night and the bathroom in the room (305) smelled bad like mildew, you can't open windows so it feels stuffy and the headboard on the bed is a cloth that just feels dirty because they can't really clean it. Not a bad place to stay overall, easy to walk to Japantown for breakfast, but we moved to another hotel after 1 night.

Everything about this hotel was excellent. The location is convenient, the service was friendly and professional, every area of the hotel was clean, tidy, and well kept, the room was beautiful, quiet and well furnished, the bed was comfortable, and the rate was reasonable. I will definitely be back!!

Well other than the independently operated Mel's Diner adjacent to the hotel, nothing was great about our stay. The rooms were basic and had everything you would expect from a hotel. However the staff were very much intrusive for lack of a better term. Ever since our company's other room was falsely reported for smoking (which I can assure you was not the case) it felt as if we could not escape the glares of the front desk, the maids insisting on checking our rooms multiple times a day and an ever present security guard lurking our hallway. We didn't even have an employee that smokes with us on the trip and no one who works with us would so blatantly disregard hotel policy which could jeopardize our security deposit, especially while representing the company. We are pretty sure it was the next room down from us, but for some reason after being singled out we became a target for management. The subsequent night the fire alarm went off for the whole building (didn't even originate on our floor this time) but the next morning both of our rooms got kicked out abruptly, without warning or time to find an alternative place to stay, despite no evidence of wrongdoing whatsoever. All this despite the fact that we use Marriott for all of our business trips and we had a signed 3rd party authorization agreement for 5 more nights. Very disappointed. This all happened a couple months back but seeing this location come up on my maps timeline brought back the frustration like it was yesterday. We still never had our deposit reimbursed and although we are a small company that doesn't have the effect some clients may have, we have since stopped using Marriott for our business travel.

This hotel is very clean. It is fancy with a lot of high end details. Easy access to Mel's kitchen. Staff professional and friendly. No issues with parking lot. Allow me to late check out. Great location.

first time in San Francisco, we got there and we were notified that we have to pay a parking fee. We were not upset about it we just didn’t know so we asked question so we can be informed. They informed us of 55 charge plus a deposit fee, we specifically asked it was for the entire stay or per night, the employee said for the entire stay. Sure enough we see many charges on my account so when we checked out I asked about those charges and some lady was very rude saying it was the parking fee in which were informed of and states clearly online. I explained to her I dodnt see that online nor checked because I’ve never been to a hotel and had to pay an extra fee for parking then I said that her employee informed otherwise as well so we were under the impression it was for the entire stay. Instead of waiving the fee since it was their mistake, she got upset saying that we were informed. Obviously her employees are incompetent about their guidelines because we specifically asked for this same reason. I will never go here again and the fat lady with the glasses who obviously is the manager based off her attire could have had better management skills and customer service for a first time customer.

Very pleasant stay in a unique kind of place that you'd never confuse with, say, a Holiday Inn. We also loved it that Mel's Kitchen was available for comfort food one night when we were too beat to go out looking for a place to eat. The only complaint was that there was something sticky (fortunately it didn't smell) that had been spilled by (a previous guest?) and not cleaned up. We notified housekeeping but it never got cleaned up in the 3 days we were there; we just threw a towel over it.

Very helpful staff! Possible improvements in rooms; A handheld shower, fold-away bench, and safety grips would be usefull additions to the accessible showers. You had to sit on the bed to view the TV; mounting the TV on a swivel wall mount would be an improvement worth making. Mel's Kitchen immediately adjacent to the hotel was very convenient.

We had a king room, it was clean and very nice. Comfortable bed with a good pillow selection, updated bathroom. Thoughtful storage options were nice since there was not a closet per se. We would stay here again.

This hotel has great rooms, is super clean, and is well located, but read on to understand its limitations. The pros of this hotel are many. The lobby is large and very nice for a Courtyard. The room was fresh, bright, super clean and comfortable. The location on Van Ness is good for visiting "central" San Francisco. It's far from San Francisco's true downtown. BUT...The hotel building is old and my bathroom/shower area was oddly narrow. The bathroom space was small for a bigger guy like me. The parking is secure but expensive, just like all SF parking. The hotel is located in an area that can be rough with homeless particularly at night. I stay at Marriott's almost exclusively and the physical plant of this one was on the higher end. I'd return without hesitation.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for three nights. The rooms were nice, and the service was good. There is a lot of security which is good but feels odd. The alley we had to drive down to park our car had people “hanging out.” The parking spots were tight. Also, the room walls are pretty thin. Good hotel, but it’s right on the edge of a rough part of the city.

We stayed one night for a family vacation. No issues. The hotel is exceptionally decorated for a Courtyard; more like a boutique or 4-star hotel. Parking is self-park but gated and reasonably secure. Neighborhood to southeast is full Tenderloin, but this block is fine, especially being on a busy street.

I stayed here twice this summer. The staff is excellent and on top of their game. Whenever I needed accommodations, they were quick to help. This included a last minute use of their conference room, which I sincerely appreciated. Also, the parking lot is secured with gates since the location is not too far from the bad parts of SF. Great value and people.

A nice hotel under a great group. Great location with superb hardwares. The most important, the pricing was great for business trip. Should have a big thumb up / 5 stars for them but that was all ruined by small details. Shouldn't internationally renowned hotel chains pay the utmost attention to all the details and thus provide the best service? Unfortunately, I couldn't see that here. Upon arriving at the hotel, the automatic doors at the entrance were locked (perhaps for security reasons). We rang the doorbell and waited for several minutes with no response until another guest leaving the hotel helped us open the door. When checking in, the front desk staff appeared very tired, offering no welcome greetings, let alone a smile. Fortunately, the luxurious decor inside the hotel made up for everything; the decoration and arrangement were done with great care, truly befitting a renowned hotel chain brand. Upon entering the room, I was pleased to find that the room was in excellent condition and very comfortable. However, when I went into the bathroom to freshen up, I discovered hair in both the sink and the bathtub, which I had to clear with tissues. Returning to the room, wanting to rest on the bed, I noticed several black spots on my pillow. Oh my! This spoiled all the good impressions I had of this hotel. It's a shame to encounter these issues in such a great hotel. But then again, it is indeed a decent hotel, and for the price, staying in such a wonderful hotel is really worth it. If these issues can be addressed, perhaps I will choose this hotel again when I visit San Francisco next time."

This hotel does have unique interior design but that is the extent of it's charm. The doors are thin so I heard every noise in the hallway and was woken up at 8 am by my neighbors door closing every day of my stay. It offers very few of the traditional amenities like a pool or hot tub and is located on the borderline or a bad neighborhood. Unless you are staying here because it's located within walking distance of something you are doing in town, I recommend going elsewhere. You can find much better accomodations in this price point elsewhere.

Hotel was nice. All hotels here seem to have key access even to the lobby which shows how San Fran has gone, especially since the pandemic apparently. Location is a bit ‘rough’ but rooms were nice, small, which we find is usual in a city. Beds and pillows were comfy and shower was good. No doorman or valet, seemed to run ok on delightful front desk staff. Will see if room is cleaned/made up and report back tomorrow.

Whilst there are some positives such as a great location, free launderette facilities, good gym and well decorated lobby and good security; the customer service lacks warmth in its welcome or in assisting guests with enquiries. The rooms are 'tired', the carpet in rooms needs replacing ( stained and worse for wear).

Enjoyed the friendly staff, parking garage and spacious rooms! Plus I thought the prices were reasonable for the area. The diner located in the hotel was also a huge plus for the morning.

An absolute pleasure. The staff were courteous and friendly, and check-in and check-out were handled professionally and quickly. All interactions with the staff were lovely and enjoyable. In addition, the hotel itself is gorgeous, more akin to a private boutique hotel than a traditional Courtyard. Its central location also makes visiting local neighborhoods/shops/restaraunts/bars just a quick Uber/Lyft away. Lastly, they recognized elite status including all listed benefits. Whenever I visit the city I always make it a point to stay here, and you should too! Highly recommend.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel! It is quite pricey but it is most definitely worth every penny. The front desk was quite busy and seemingly short staffed during my visit however still handled all of the guests with ease and excellent customer service skills!

This is a nicely upgraded Marriott. No bell hop or valet or any of the amenities. Room was really nice: plenty of light, nice bathroom, good water pressure. Bed was very comfortable. Great location in SF.

Wow, the service and attention to detail from the staff at the front desk is amazing. Probably the best customer service experience I’ve had at a hotel in California. 5 stars… just incredible. The front desk staff is amazing! Room was great also, but the friendly service puts this place on another level, I’ll be back in September!

Location is good and decoration of the hotel is good and stylish. But the amenity is no good. There is no breakfast there and room is kinda small. I’m a platinum member but got no late checkout etc.

Just to get to our room you have to scan your key card 4 times. 1 to get into the hotel 2 to get through the door to the elevator 3 to use the elevator 4 to get into your room. Would stay again. Great American music hall. Movie theater. Honestly not far from the pier if you Uber wanna say we paid 10 bones. Easy walk to Chinatown. Mel's connected to the hotel. Parking seems like a problem but couldn't say we ubered from the airport about 35 bones. The front desk seemed happy we didn't have to park.

Service couldn't have been any better. Chiquita at the front desk was amazing. Room was beautiful and super comfy. They let us check in early and leave our vehicle while we explored the city. Until next time SF we will certainly be back.

Modern, clean, comfortable. Great hotel at a great price Location is central to many great parts of town. Service is top notch. They really care about keeping this place safe and welcoming.

Room was quite nice, but the layout of the hotel was very bizarre, almost a maze. Room pricing was ok for a large city hotel but was surprised to be hit with a big parking bill. Website said parking available, but no mention of high price. Not very transparent.

The rooms were comfortable however there was no refrigerator, microwave,. Very tiny bathroom, the dressing area has a full length behind it so there is no privacy to dress. Minor inconveniences people were nice, hotel was clean continental breakfast.

Cool old building made into a nice hotel with a swanky lounge area and a restaurant and bar attached. Clean building with a nice gym and gated on site parking(not free). It's in a good location too. My only wish would be for a pool. It's about as good as you can get for the money in SF. Rooms are small but that comes with most old buildings.

I stayed here because I had a family member in the hospital across the street, which is convenient. The room is very clean and beautifully designed. I enjoyed the natural light and view from my window. The staff are polite, friendly and professional. I THANK YOU for a wonderful stay.
