Tenderloin is a wonderful place. TL museum is even more wonderful. The staff and the guide are all passionate about their work and are knowledgeable. Visit here any day of the week except Mondays to learn more about the history of TL, how it came to be. Fun fact: admissions are free for TL residents in Wednesdays.

What a great find and only 10 minute walk from our hotel. Very small but dense and full of interesting history, forcing ourselves to open our eyes to some of the reality that so many of us try to shield ourselves from. Yes, you do pass through an area where people are literally living on the sidewalks and acknowledge some folks may not feel comfortable with. We never felt unsafe walking to the museum at 10 am but would not go into the area after dark. Well worth the visit.

A great little gem in a rough area but worth the trip. I went to a book signing. The staff is friendly and they gave us popcorn. A win win. The ticket price was a suggested $5 donation.

I recently stayed on the edge of the Tenderloin and was really glad for the opportunity to visit this museum. It is a small and accessible site offering an intriguing historical perspective of one of San Francisco's most engaging areas. As one familiar with what is problematic about life on these streets, I really appreciated getting a broader perspective, one that made me glad I had chosen to book my stay nearby. There are some amazing photographs, engaging brief films and a great deal of information about many different aspects of the Tenderloin. I found the remainder of my time in the city significantly enhanced by what I learned from visiting here.

A small but great museum. Captures the history of Tenderloin. I attended two shows there which were performed on the building of Cadillac hotel. They were amazing! Instantly became onenof my favorite places.

Small but wonderful little museum that provides a rich history of the Tenderloin area. We did the night walking tour and it was great! Also love the number of interesting and relevant books on sale.

It is small but full of interesting facts about the history of the neighborhood and San Francisco

I've been here before, pre-covid, and found it decent. If memory serves it is a lot of historical pictures on the wall with text descriptions. I planned to stop in again today, but masks are required — even for people who are vaccinated, boosted and recently recovered from covid. I just kept on walking.

So much soul in this museum in a city that seems to be losing it. 100% recommended ❤️‍🔥

Informative little museum telling the history of Tenderloin. Costs $10. If you are there on a Saturday around 1pm, you can opt in for an additional 1h tour and pay $15.

Excellent small museum in one of the edgiest and most interesting neighbourhoods of SF. Learned a lot and gained a new perspective. Worth a visit if you are interested in history and going beyond the top ten sights.

The 'Loin gets such a bad rep these days, that the history and goodness of the place gets overlooked. I urge everyone to visit and experience the past, present, and future all in one place......The Tenderloin Museum.

Not only is this place incredible for its permanent exhibit chronicling the history of the Tenderloin neighborhood but the who run it, Katie and Alex, are fantastic community builders. We'll worth coming here.

What a fascinating little gem this place is. If you're curious about the "underground" and seedier but colorful history of San Francisco, you can't miss visiting this museum. The displays only take up one room but it's rife with photographs, detailed descriptions, and audio-visual displays. I spent nearly 2 hours here taking in this fascinating information. Well worth the $10 entrance fee.

Interesting, small museum centering on one of San Francisco's more "notorious" districts.
