Walked up to the bouncer at the door and asked him how he was doing and he told me he was "living the dream". I gave him my ID and he immediately gave it back to me and told me to "go". I'm 25 years old and used to do the same job as him. Grow up and learn to read a legitimate ID.

Martina and Pascal are the main bartenders here. Usually on different nights. They are just Epic. This place has that understated cool vibe that only comes from being in business a really long time. I believe since the 70's. It's quite dive-bar-y, but it's also such a great hang out, who cares. Excellent Tues. Nite trivia party. Get the chicken sandwich. It's terrific. Very tasty. All the good stuff. Nice selection of draught beers and ciders and aged whisky.

I came in with an out of state ID and they refused my entrance; claiming my ID was fake. Ironically used it to fly twice in the last month. Almost positive the security gaurd with a Red Cap on 6/24 lied about being manger. If he was a manger; he was incredibly rude and incompetent. If you’re a tourist/have an out of state ID avoid this place like the plague .EDIT: my group of 10 left the bar immediately after the rude and unprofessional treatment; walked 5 minutes to Lost Marbles bar and they were incredibly kind, had amazing cosmos and lemon drops, and super homey and had a much more open space.

If you live in the Inner Richmond it’s the the local bar to go to. Martina makes you feel like you’re at home. The only place for or darts and pool. Great for an afternoon beer or a late night cocktail. ❤️

Super chill spot. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the neighborhood. They have 2 pool tables upstairs. Unfortunately they were out of chalk when we were there.. Definitely affected my game.. good times and vibes.

Great atmosphere, great music. We ordered fish and chips and a Bitter End Burger. The food came out hot and was really good. This place also have 2 pool tables upstairs.

By far the best bar in San Francisco. There are no words to describe Martina and the important conversations you’ll have with her. She’s the kind of person you’ll be thinking about for a long time after your first encounter. The bar is so unique with its mezzanine level, pool tables, darts boards and amazing selection of whiskeys. We were sad to leave this place at the end of a long and beautiful night, but we’ll be back for sure. Thank you Martina, for everything xxx

Trivia nights on Tuesdays are awesome !! Pitchers of beer are pretty affordable for sf. 24 dollars a pitcher.

my friend was not let in with a legal out of state ID (and she had had multiple documents proving her ID was legitimate). if you are from out of state, have your passport on hand. otherwise the bouncer will power trip over you being from out of state. i would recommend going to the many bars in the area instead, never had a problem anywhere else

Love this comfy divey neighborhood bar! Great bartenders and good food menu variety.

This place has surprisingly good food at great prices! The drinks are super affordable, too. They have calamari on the menu, and I'm not mad at it. I order it often, actually. Nothing fancy here, so if you're a cocktail person, you'll be disappointed. However, they will make you one if you ask. Keep it simple. The bar staff are awesome. Seriously. They're the best. You can sit and chat or go upstairs and play pool. There are also tables and a fireplace in the corner, so you can work or read if that's your style. Overall, it's a great neighborhood spot for an easy night and some food.

Popped in for a quick drink with colleagues and it was a nice time. I liked they had one end of the bar as a mini DJ counter. Nice touch.

Dive bar, for sure. Fun place but you won't find amazing food or fancy cocktails.

Food - 5.5/10, but you're not coming here for the food I've come to the Bitter End dozens of times for Trivia night, which is great and boosts the rating. I've managed to try most of the menu in the course of these visits. Here are my thoughts. Note that the menus tend to be inaccurately priced, so expect to pay more than what you see. Drinks are sometimes in stock, and sometimes not in stock. Fries - they're usually pretty good. Get the garlic and cheese ones for some extra decadence. Clubhouse sandwich - a sizeable plate. comes with fries. Cheese could be better, seems like it might be like Kraft or something but overall fairly solid and a big portion. The chicken they use in this is the same as in a number of the other chicken dishes and you can taste the "grill" marks. I'm going to assume this is frozen/pre-cooked. Fish and Chips - Fish was pretty bland. Two small-ish pieces. Felt like it was mostly fries so value wasn't really there.

Really cool laid back bar with very friendly bartenders, people to meet and pool to play with.

Took my nephew here to see Dr. Strange. Still pretty new, comfortable seating. One can either purchase tickets at the counter or self-serve machines. We had lunch prior so no snacks. They sell a pass, i plan to check it out next time.

This is one of my favorite bars in the city. It has the look and feel of the perfect local neighborhood bar. Very good and will proceed food menu Long time bar tenders bring an old school vibe. But if I am being honest, the place could use some sprucing up.

Absolutely loved this place when I lived in the Inner Richmond. It's a mix of Irish pub and classic dive bar. The drinks were always cheap, normal pub grub, bar games and sports on the TV. It's a great place to catch the San Francisco Giants play and have a beer with friends. It's also a great place to play some billiards or darts, both of which are on the second floor. Lastly, they had an awesome Trivia night on Tuesdays, but make sure you get there early because it fills up quickly. Last but not least, the same bar tenders were always there and always a delight. Good people all around.

A nice pub atmosphere that's not spoiled by too many TV's showing sports.

It was my first time going in there, and the service was awesome even though they had a big football game thing going on they made sure I was comfortable for my to go order. I ordered the better in simpler and they made it just the way I liked it and substituted the things that I didn’t like without any hesitation, I will be going back there
