I have a friend they loves this place and for long time I wanted to come here. I was expecting more and I really prefer mandalay. They have tables outside. Service is good. Not a lot of variety. The star of the night was the mango salad. They do not have a fried rice and that was a surprise for me. They have heaters and are pet friendly

Hit Burma this past weekend and it did not disappoint! Always appreciate a super solid local spot with great vegan & non vegan options for a date. We started off with the firecracker cauliflower which was great, and I got the lamb curry and she got dried fried string beans, fried yellow bean tofu and we shared the coconut rice. Everything was 10/10 and would highly recommend coming here!

Burma Superstar is really popular and there is always a line during peak hour. The decor is adorable and the ambiance is really cozy. It was my first time to try Burmese food and it was delicious. There were some cuisines similar to Malaysian or Philippine food and they really matched our expectation. The options on the menu weren’t various but it’s still difficult for the 1st-time visitors. Thank friendly staff for being helpful and giving us great recommendations. The food was amazingly great especially for the braised beef which was cooked tender and well flavored.

Everything we had was delicious. There’s no parking but find a way to go. We went here (1st time having Burmese) and glad we did. Amazing flavors and wonderful service. We ate outside because the weather was so nice and had a great time. We split the tea leaves salad (a must-try). I had the basil chili pork belly (not spicy but delicious). My son had the spicy & crispy chicken (also very good). And my wife had the lemongrass salmon (she loved it).

Totally loved this place! Food is amazing and the staff are friendly and respectful! Usually, this place has a huge wait time during the weekends. We went on a Sunday afternoon for lunch, around 2p. Though it was almost closing time, there were people waiting for table. Since we were just a party of a three and agreed to sit indoors we just had to wait for 20-25 mins. As soon as we went in they thanked us for waiting in the line and seated us at our table. We asked the server to recommend popular dishes and she recommended Chili Lamb and Vegetarian Samusa soup. Additionally, we ordered Fiery Cauliflower, Chicken with Fresh Basil and Nan Pia Dok (noodles). All the items were flavorful and delicious. My favorites are Fiery Cauliflower, Samusa Soup and Chili Lamb. Chili Lamb is spicy, so decide wisely! I heard their Tea Leaf Salad is good too, will have to try next time. Definitely recommend this place!!

I will give it a 5star because of the lady who served us was so kind and attended to all our needs. We arrived early so we were the first customer of the day. Ambiance is good and the place is clean. Inside dining can be a lot busier during 12 to 2pm. For the taste of the food, from 1 to 10, I will rate it 7. This is in comparison with other Burma resto we've visited. So overall I will give it a 4star.

Amazing overall experience. Greeted and served with a smile. Food was served promptly. Hostess was paying attention to our order and constantly checked and polled our table to understand if we needed anything. Surely a must visit when folks visiting San Francisco.I was tasting Burmese food for the first time and enjoyed the food.

I've been to Burma Superstar a few times now, and their quality of food and service has stayed the same - topnotch. You can't make online reservations, so you have to get there and join their waitlist. We went for dinner on a weekday and had to wait 15-20 minutes to get seated. Our server was nice, friendly, and attentive. He suggested some good items from the menu. The chili lamb was the highlight of our dinner. It was so good that we ended up ordering another regular chili lamb dish. Though I wish there was more lamb than the chili. The lamb was juicy, and the dish was spicy. The oh noh kauser soup was creamy, zesty and delicious. The noodles were very soft as well. Sesame tofu was packed with flavors. It was sweet and tangy as described in the menu and tofu was cooked well. The superstar noodle salad was very flavorful and refreshing. It's a cold salad. Overall, it was a great experience. This place never disappoints.

4.5/5 - the spicy lamb is a must try! The noodles were alright. The sesame beef and chicken were really flavourful and tasted great when paired with their coconut rice, but their spicy lamb was by far the best item! It was so tender, the onions were amazing, and the spice level was just right. Overall great food but not worth the long line.

I was pleasantly surprised by the food that we had here. Everything was exceptional and the staff were so friendly. It is a bit of a wait for dinner on the weekends but you can walk around while waiting for your name to be called!

Burma Superstar is the star of Clement Street. On any Sunday afternoon you’ll find the streets lined with produce vendors, the corners occupied by protesters or street performers, and a long, intimidating line outside Burma Superstar. The Tea Leaf salad is a must. It’s nutty, savory, refreshing, and infinitely better than that week-old Cesar salad sitting in your fridge. Throw that salad away. Never buy it again. Get the Tea Leaf salad every time. The Pork Belly stir fry is also amazing. Super flavorful, fatty, and with just enough spice to make you reach for some iced tea. Oh yea, get the Ginger Lemonade or Thai Ice Tea here, served in a carafe to get your money’s worth. Order some more entrees like the Chili Lamb, and scarf it all down with some fluffy coconut rice. You’ll feel like your own little superstar. Yes, you are.

What an awesome place. Great service. The food was very special. The pratha and dip was amazing, and the tea leaves salad was nothing like I had before. The noodles weren't very good. Other tables had meat dishes that looked very very good.

Dank! Genuinely the best beef and broccoli and Brussels sprouts I've ever had, as well as some really fantastic cauliflower. The noodles were a bit bland, and didn't have any distinct flavor but they were cooked well and it didn't taste bad. Overall this is a great place!

Excellent ethnic restaurant even if a bit chaotic due to the extreme success that the Burmese cuisine of this restaurant has known in recent times. All the meals suggested are exquisite, let yourself be carried by your intuition and the flavors that attract you. However, the waiter will know how to orient you with kindness. If you want to avoid eating in the chaos of this small restaurant, I suggest take away. Great restaurant with affordable prices

Food was so good. My favorite were the noodles. Don't remember which noodles we got but I loved it. Flavor was different from way I've had before. nice and patient staff and the waiter was so helpful with his recommendations. it was satisfying and worth the 5 star rating.

For years and years and years I'd heard the tales told around the wonders of Burma Superstar, but mostly due to it's hard to reach location within the City and the likelihood of long lines I'd simply never made the effort. Finally, I was able to give it a shot during the coronavirus quarantine of all times, and it really was magical.

Delicious food with reasonable price. Each dish has its own unique taste. The host & waiter are very nice. The tea leaf salad is unique with the dressing. My favorite is the pork belly dish, it’s flavorful & a must try.

If anyone asks you if having the Rainbow Salad and the Tea Leaf Salad at Burma Superstar is too many salads, the answer is no. The salads are very different and both are delicious. I've eaten at Burma Superstar three times in the last month, the service is excellent, the atmosphere pleasant and the food superb. Blankets are offered to those sitting outside as the outdoor space is covered, but can't be heated with space heaters efficiently. So bring something warm to wear. Enjoy!

Had the Burmese Shrimp curry, Eggplant & Tofu curry, Samusa soup and the Green tea leaf salad. Really enjoyed the salad. Very refreshing and unique. Like the fact that they had gluten free options too. Given the rating and reviews, I probably had very high expectations. It was also the first time I was eating a Burmese meal (though I love oriental Asian food in general). So unfortunately, my overall experience didn't live up to the expectations. The Ambience and the Food taste experience was average for me personally. Service was super quick and staff were very polite and happy to answer questions on the menu. So the service experience was good. Though I would have loved it better if they were more open to customizing some ingredients like sugar content. Would not go back there again.

First time here and we luckily got seated. Cute little restaurant. If you want to go, make sure to give yourself a 30 min wait time. Go hungry! The wait is so worth it. Highly recommend asking the friendly servers what you should order. their honest about portion sizes for the group and what to get and what their best selling items are. Will definitely go back!

Finally got a chance to visit this original location for some authentic Burmese food. We weren't disappointed and really enjoyed the few dishes ordered on this Saturday lunch. We came before 12 o'clock so no wait for us.

Good food. Flavorful, very well cooked, but not my exact type. Salad was great. Shrimps were good. Coconut noodle was nice, similar to creamy Italian pasta.

A very efficient set up running. Delivers quality food and service in a relaxed environment without the frills. Blankets are on offer but I wouldn’t sit outside, no heaters and relatively exposed. Completely satisfied with the food.

This restaurant doesn't take reservations so if you're dining in, be prepared to wait a bit(not if you came before they open). Service was pretty good, they're super busy so make sure to be patient with the employees. Food was phenomenal! The dishes were a mix of familiar flavors but so unique at the same time. This was my first time having Burmese food and it seriously blew me away.

This is a place. I always about know for the indoor dining on Clement street in San Francisco. I was excited to know that they were doing pick up. I like Burmese food and this place is one of the few but the one of best. Had the chicken and also had their noodles. I enjoyed my food even more watching the SF Giants beat the LA Dodgers.

I recently ordered take-out and my cravings were all completely satisfied after eating it. We did a group order/family style and ordered the tea leaf salad, fiery vegetables with tofu, chicken w/fresh basil, and garlic noodles. Each dish tasted drastically different and they all were extremely flavorful. I think the tea leaf salad was probably my favorite because it had the most flavor and was definitely the most satisfying for me. They have a ton of vegetarian options and a variety of food on their take-out menu.

  • 5/5 Derrick B. 3 years ago on Google
They have outdoor seating and we felt comfortable with the distance from other tables. They do not do reservations but the wait was not too long on a Saturday night at 7:30pm , probably around 15 min. The staff all wore masks and we felt comfortable dining here.

Dank! Genuinely the best beef and broccoli and Brussels sprouts I’ve ever had, as well as some really fantastic cauliflower, and done downright decent noodles. Everyone raves about the tea leaf salad, but mine was bitter and not all that interesting. Maybe that’s just a preference thing. The noodles were a bit bland, and didn’t have any distinct flavor but they were cooked well and it didn’t taste bad.

I haven't had Burmese food before so was excited to try this. I got the tea leaf salad - it was very fresh and crunchy and a really good salad. The lamb curry was flavorful as well. The curry is pretty thick, more similar to the indian curry than the thai curry. Also recommend pairing it with the coconut rice. It was aromatic, sweet and savory. Overall I'm pretty happy with my first Burmanese food experience.

I got takeout on Saturday afternoon and was surprised at how friendly, helpful, and thoughtful the woman was when I picked up my food. Most places don't add a lot of service or ask any additional questions when you pick up, but that wasn't the case. She asked if I wanted utensils, spice, read each item from my receipt and double checked, and was really friendly. The food was amazing as usual, but that is already expected from this family of restaurants!

I haven't had Burma Superstar in many years. I have my favorite Burmese places and I didn't like what I got here at all. Greasy, low on flavor, no texture. Yuck honestly.

Wanted to give five stars for chili lamb, shrimp, tea leaf salad, coconut rice. Took out one star for the noodles which was a big let down. Unsure what it was supposedly taste like. No flavor or salt. Food is defy overpriced.

Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Burma Superstar has a great little shop with a quaint atmosphere on a block that's otherwise not entirely noteworthy, and they've adapted to covid nicely with a very refined to-go system. While it was two hours between order and pickup which I knew would be the case ahead of time, I was in and out in five minutes and everything was well packaged. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Burma Superstar is pricey no doubt about it, but so many of these dishes are so unique that you should expect to pay the premium. Even so, ~$15.00 for serving and a half portions of entrees isn't at all unreasonable in San Francisco, and I was able to feed a party of three for about $75. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Everything, and I mean every single thing that we ordered was out of this world good. The firecracker cauliflower - legendary. The fiery chicken - incredible. Even the coconut rice brought an edge and flavor to an otherwise standard side, and my only regret was that I hadn't ordered more. Two Stars. Star 5: Would you be excited to go back? Without question or hesitation. Star.

If you want westernized "burmese" food and not care for at all about authenticity, this is the place to go. Did I also mention it is over priced? Any burmese can tell you this place isn't just right. Don't fall for the reviews like I did.

BEST tea leaf salad (and salad) I've ever had my ENTIRE life. Probably one of my top 5 favorite restaurants in Cali, nearing at #1 (too many others). The flavors are exquisite. Dishes are fresh. And the atmosphere and surrounding vibes are worth a visit just to experience San Francisco in its pure entirety.

Came in knowing nothing about this restaurant. My friend and I had just finished a run in Golden Gate Park and we were both starving. He lives next door and highly recommended it so we pulled the trigger. I was not disappointed. OMGURD!!!!! They say hunger is the best spice. They were wrong. Whatever Burma Superstar puts in their food is the best spice. Everything from the Platha to the broccoli was out of this world! You. Cannot. Go. Wrong. Eating. Here. I plan on coming back.....a lot. For inquiring minds we ordered: Platha, broccoli, chicken basil, and the garlic noodles with duck. All of them were divine. I also like a to make a shout-out to the ginger lemonade, it was perfectly balanced between sweet and sour. I could drink it all day.

  • 2/5 Andrea J. 3 years ago on Google
Burma Superstar? More like Burma Two Stars. I had always seen lines to get into this place and figured it must be very good like the name suggests. If you want really good Burmese food, you should go to a restaurant like Taste of Burma in Daly City. Daly City boasts a Burmese community and authentic Burmese food and a true Burmese atmosphere in its restaurants. I was at Burma Superstar this evening. After getting through the temperature check screening and forced hand sanitizer use, we were seated outside (the most extreme COVID measures imposed at any restaurant I've been to). I ordered the distinctively Burmese Tea Leaf Salad. I was served a salad full of tired old lettuce and barely any tea leaves. The service was less than friendly. Mid-meal the server starting coming to us asking if he could take our plates. I had to swallow before responding that I wasn't finished yet. So, if you like waiting in line for mediocre food and rude service, this is the place for you.
